John 13:27 “…What you are about to do, do quickly”
When it comes to getting results in life it is about getting things done. Not just doing things, but also doing them at the right time. Most Christians have remained in the clutches of poverty, stagnation, failure and in undignified lives because of not doing things when they ought to.
There are many people today who are masters of “slow down” and “slow motion”. They never work hard and smart on things they have to do. In fact, they get themselves occupied with frivolous things and other unproductive engagements.
You see, when purpose and vision is revealed, you must not drag your feet when it is time to execute the mandate or the assigned task. Delays will not serve your interest or make you successful when it is time for the execution of a mandate.
Judas was about to betray Jesus for him to be crucified, but Jesus’ admonishment to him is somewhat strange. He told Judas to carry on quickly. He never told him to slow down or become nonchalant.
When it comes to having success in your endeavors you can’t downplay on factors like accuracy, precision of vision, wisdom and knowledge. But all these factors must be harnessed through “speed” or “acting quickly”
On acting quickly in Acts 12:7 the bible says “And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon [him], and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from [his] hands”. For Peter to be delivered from the prison after prayers he needed to act quickly.
In Acts 22:18, Paul tells how he had to move out quickly from Jerusalem to the Lord’s biddings. Never pride in being slow in life. Some ignorantly even attribute this their personality type by saying I am a “phlegmatic”. Well success in life does not happen by such statements.
Add speed to your study, add speed to the process of enhancing your character, add speed to obeying God’s call on your life, add speed to translating your relationship into marriage, add speed to career life and God’s grace will perfect things. Remember, if you engage delays, it will also do so to you.
Get something done now! You don’t have all the years at your disposal.
