Ephesians 4:26-27 “Be angry [at sin—at immorality, at injustice, at ungodly behavior], yet do not sin; do not let your anger [cause you shame, nor allow it to] last until the sun goes down. And do not give the devil an opportunity [to lead you into sin by holding a grudge, or nurturing anger, or harboring resentment, or cultivating bitterness].”
Living the God kind of life in Christ sets you above any demonic or satanic onslaught. Notwithstanding that, it is possible to give the devil access to your affairs or life. Our opening text gives insight into this truth and admonishes us not to give the devil an opportunity. One version of the bible puts it this way “and do not leave room for the Devil”
You see, as Christians our emotion or passion can be directed against anything that is not the will of God or in line with God’s word. Nonethless, we must not come to the place where we hold grudge against people, or nurture anger or harbor resentment against people. This gives the opportunity to the devil to get us off our course and to do awkward things.
You see, whatever the devil can do against you depends on the place you give to him. Meaning that, the devil is not as powerful as he has been presented. All he wants is a space from you to operate.
Deny the devil any entry into your life by growing in the knowledge of God and doing what the word says. Learn to resist any happenings that inspires fear, hatred or any form of resentment against people and also yield yourself fully to God.
Read: James 4:7 “So submit to [the authority of] God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him] and he will flee from you”
Prayer: Lord, thank you for the grace and wisdom to resist any activities of the devil concerning my life. Amen
