LISTEN TO A FATHER’S INSTRUCTION

Proverbs 4:1–2 “Hear, O children, the instruction of a father, and pay attention and be willing to learn, so that you may gain understanding and intelligent discernment. For I give you good doctrine; do not turn away from my instruction”

One proven pathway to success in life is learning to listen to a father’s instruction. Scripture makes it clear that instruction from a father is not empty advice but good doctrine that produces understanding and discernment. Where instruction is received, wisdom grows, and where wisdom grows, success follows.

Know that a father has a genuine interest in the outcome of his children’s lives. He desires their progress, stability, and fulfillment. No true father wishes to see his children struggle unnecessarily or fail repeatedly. Thus, out of love and experience, fathers give instructions to protect, guide, and position their children for a better future.

In the life of a believer, God has established different dimensions of fatherhood. First, God Himself is our Father, and His instructions are found in His Word. Obedience to His Word is the foundation of a successful Christian life. Next is the biological father, whose counsel is shaped by natural authority and life experience. In addition, God places spiritual fathers, such as pastors and mentors, who provide guidance from a spiritual perspective to help believers grow and to make them walk in divine purpose.

However, instruction only becomes effective when it is obeyed. Whether the instruction is on finances, career, relationship and marriage, or ministry,  you must genuinely and seriously submit to it. Know that many people have not seen the brighter side of life, not because they lacked opportunities, but because they ignored or resisted instructions. Yes, instruction may sometimes feel restrictive or uncomfortable, but it is always given for our benefit and preservation.

You see, instead of arguing or resisting instruction, submit to it and willingly obey the good instruction you receive. Treat instruction with seriousness, not as a suggestion but as a guide for direction. Those who honor instruction naturally stand out and advance in life.

Pray: Lord, I pray for grace to submit instructions.
