The spirit of Michal

2 Samuel 6:16
“And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart“.

From our opening text, we see how Michal who was the wife of David, despised David in her heart because of his zeal and joy in the Lord. Therefore, the spirit of Michal is a spirit that despises the things of God.

To despise means to dislike and have a low opinion of someone or something because you think it’s worthless. Hence anytime the spirit of Michal is in operation, it tends to look down on the things of God.

In fact, it regards worship to God as a worthless act and a waste of time.

The danger is that, when you are being influenced by this spirit as a Christian, you begin to loose interest in spiritual activities.
Prayer doesn’t make sense to you anymore. You see no reason why you must worship and praise God. Reading the Bible seems worthless. In fact, you have total disregard even for pastors and servants of God.

You see, the spirit of Michal is another reason why people backslide and fall into apostasy. Sin becomes pleasurable to you and causes you to eventually abandon the faith.

Today, there are many people who despise the church of God. They regard believers as a group of fanatics and brain washed persons.
This “despisers” show contempt towards spiritual things and abhor anything that has a signature of righteousness.

Beware of despising “godly things or people”. It can bring a curses and damnation to you.
In the case of Michal she became barren. “Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death”. (2 Samuel 6:23)

Learn not to be familiar with the things of God, and don’t also despise things associated with God.

Read: Leviticus 26:15-16
And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant: I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.

Prayer: Lord I pray for grace not to be familiar and also despise God and his things. Amen

Honour your prophet

Matthew 13:57
“And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “A PROPHET IS NOT WITHOUT HONOR except in his own town and in his own home.”

Honouring a servant of God, a man of God or a prophet is something that you must carefully and respectfully practice especially when you are associated with him or know him or relate to him by any means. This is because you can easily take lightly or look down on people you know that the Lord has called into his service.

Jesus said that “a prophet is not without honour”. That’s to say that a prophet is with honour. He is God’s servant, thus has been honoured by the Lord. Hebrews 5:4 says, “And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.”

You see, irrespective of how you know the beginning of a man of God, or you have been associated with him for years, don’t dishonour him or despise him. This is because he is God’s agent for your blessing or deliverance. When God delivered Israel from Egypt, he took a prophet from amongst them, and on their way to possessing the promised Land he also did same. See Deuteronomy 18:17-18 “And the Lord said to me: ‘What they have spoken is good. I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him.”

It is not enough knowing a man of God, honour the person, recognize that he is God’s servant and receive him as such. This is how you can be easily blessed by his calling and ministry.

Read: Matthew 10:41 “Whoever receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man will receive a righteous man’s reward.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for the grace and wisdom to honour and receive any person you call as your servant

It is God’s will for you to be healed.

Matthew 8:3
“Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy”

Sickness and diseases are not God’s will for the believer. Not only that, God does not also use sickness and diseases to teach us a lesson, rather, God wants the sick person healed and to live in health.

3John 2 says “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and BE IN HEALTH, even as thy soul prospereth”.

Are you sick? Are you faced with any medical condition? Is your health under attack? Never lose heart and don’t be afraid. There is healing for you in Christ Jesus. Isaiah 53:5 reads “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And BY HIS STRIPES, WE ARE HEALED. Jesus has already paid the price for your healing and health. Thus, before any sickness will ever afflict you, the price was for your healing has been catered for.

This is the proof that God wants you healed and well. Never for one moment think that God is teaching you a lesson with any sickness or any medical condition that you are faced with. Just like how Jesus demonstrated his love and willingness to the man with leprosy, and healed him, he will do same for you. Believe that you can be healed, and Jesus is more than willing to do it, because he has already paid the price for that.

Rather than condemning yourself because of any affliction of sickness or any medical condition you are facing, believe that you have been healed by the Lord. Confess the healing of God over your body and you will see the manifestation. Hallelujah!

Read: 1 Peter 2:24 “Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed”

Prayer: Father Lord, I thank you for ever willing for me to be healed and to be in health. I declare health over my body, and I am healed from any known and unknown medical condition in Jesus’s name. Amen!

He LEADS ME

Psalm 23:2-3
“He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness, For His name’s sake”

One of the most important things you can receive from the Lord is His leadings. The leading of God brings a person to the best things in life. You can’t get it right with only your carnal mind in this spiritual world. Your mind and physical senses are limited. In fact, they don’t always help you to chat the best course in life. This is why God helps us with his leadings.

You see, as a Child of God you are eligible to be led by God, but you must allow yourself for it. God can’t force his plans and purposes on your life. He will lead you from his word and through the promptings of the Holy Spirit and it is left with you to follow.

The Psalmist saw the blessedness of the leadings of God. This he penned down in Chapters 23 of Psalms. He showed two areas God leads us. One, to “still waters to restore us” and second to the “paths of righteousness”.

God’s leadings and guidance is what will bring us to places, situations, and occasions that will change our lives. Similarly, it is the leading of God that can make you keep your integrity, make you live right, and in consecration in this sin doomed world. Beloved, there is victory and success for the believer that allows himself to be led by God. Don’t always have your own way. Don’t be driven by your emotions and carnal instincts.

God’s best is embedded in his leadings. Let God lead you. Don’t be wise in your own eyes (Proverbs 3:7).

Read: Psalm 37:23 “The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives” (NLT)

Prayer: Lord, grant me the grace to subscribe to your leadings every day of my life.

Love the Lord more!

Mathew 10:37
“Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me”

The call to be a Christian is a call to love. It is a call to love the Lord at all costs. Mark 12:30 says, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength” This means that as a Christian, you must love the lord with your all.

Your love for God must be your biggest priority as you journey on in life. You must not love things and people beyond God. Jesus simply explained what it means to love God and said,“Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome” (1 John 5:3, NLT).

You see, don’t let your love for people and things make you disobey God or do things contrary to the word of God. That is simply not loving God. Anytime your love for other things is more than the love you have for God, you will certainly not do God’s will.

Today, we have people who, because of the love they have for their human relations and relationships, don’t care about loving the Lord. Such folks simply obey the words of men above that of God’s.

Remember Jesus’s caution, “if you love other people more than Him, you are not worthy of him.” To have value and to be honorable in the sight of Jesus, you must love him above anything and anyone else.

Read: Joshua 23:11 “So be very careful and watchful of yourselves to love the Lord your God.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for the grace to love you more than anything else in this world.

Know your hour of visitation!

Luke 19:41-42
And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.

“As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. They will dash you to the ground, you, and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, BECAUSE YOU DID NOT RECOGNIZE THE TIME OF GOD’S COMING TO YOU.”

God operates with times and seasons. He has set some times and seasons for special happenings to bless his own. But this truth notwithstanding, the Christian must be able to discern what God is about in every time and season to take advantage of it. You see, God visits us in some seasons and times of our lives. These are the moments he has set for some supernatural happenings and workings for our sake.

Ignorance of what God is about in some seasons of your life will deprive you of your blessing, which may be an answer to a prayer, miracle, breakthrough, etc. It is important to train your spirit to be able to perceive and to know what every season holds for you.

The people of Jerusalem in the days of Jesus, failed to recognize that He was the answer to their woes and misery. Even though it was their time and season of visitation, they didn’t see it. Thus, they were limited, and still troubled by the enemy.

In this dispensation of the Holy Spirit, know the times and season when God wants to do something particular in your life. Know when the Lord wants you to also do something in line with his visit or supernatural encounter with you.

People like Abraham, Jacob, Isaac, Simeon, were exceptional in their days because they knew the moments of their visitation. Abraham knew when the Lord visited him near the trees of Mamre (Genesis). Jacob also knew and perceived his supernatural encounter (Genesis 32), Simeon after seeing baby Jesus, knew that it was God in the flesh (Luke 2:25-32).

May the Lord open your spiritual eyes to see his set time and seasons when he decides to do something supernatural for you and through you. Don’t miss your season of visitation.

Read: 1 Corinthians 2:14
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to discern and to know my hour of visitation.

Pray in the spirit; it is for your good.

Jude 1:20
“But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit”

There are various ways to pray and there are different kinds of prayer. These are all unique and they each have the kind of results they produce. To say that “prayer is prayer” and not pay attention to biblical truth on the subject will deprive you of some great benefits.

As Christians, one way we can pray is by praying in the spirit. Praying in the spirit means that you yield to the Holy Spirit to pray in sync with what the Holy Spirit wills and directs you. This prayer does not involve your mind or your personal will. When you pray in the spirit you don’t pray with your own understanding.

In 1 Corinthians 14:14, the bible makes us understand that, when you pray in tongues, your spirit prays. Thus, praying in tongues makes you pray in the spirit. 1 Corinthians 14:14 says “For this reason the one who speaks in a tongue should pray that they may interpret what they say. 14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful”

You see, anytime you pray in the spirit, you are built up in the faith. The amplified bible explains that when you pray in the spirit “you rise like an edifice higher and higher”.

No wonder the bible admonishes us to pray in the spirit on all occasions. “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests…” (Ephesians 6:18).

Make a practice of speaking in tongues everyday of your life. As you do that and pray in the spirit, things above your control and knowledge will fall in place for your good.

Read: Romans 8:26 “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to stand in every occasion praying in the spirit. Amen

Grow up

2 Peter 3:18
“But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.”

Every believers life must be characterized by growth. It is one sign that shows that you are making progress in your walk with God.

You see, remaining at the same level of faith, understanding, grace and love after being born again is a sign that you are not growing.

Just as people grow in the natural, it is also expected that we grow spiritually as well. Growing in the Lord will therefore follow the same principles as in the natural.
To grow up in life, whether in the physical or spiritual, feeding with the right kind of food is key.

The food that brings growth to the Christian is God’s word. The Bible says “desire the sincere milk of the word that you may grow thereby”. Thus, you must be on the “word diet to grow up”.

When you don’t feed on God’s word you remain a “baby” Christian and many things that rightly belongs to you may not come to you.
Not only that, it is by growth that you are “TRANSFORMED”.
In the natural, trees that grow changes in shape and form, and moves through various stages then to fruit bearing. Same applies to Christians who grow.

Be zealous about growing up. This is the sure way for you to become productive in life.

Read: 1 Peter 2:2 “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for an intense desire for your word to grow and be productive in the faith.

Count it all Joy

James 1:2
“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations”

It is important to know that you are bound to face trials and challenges as a believer. Nonetheless, all these trials can be a stepping stone to elevate you into greatness if you can learn to trust God.

You must understand that whatever happens in your life, whether good or bad can only be for your advantage as a Christian.

In the book of Romans 8:28 apostle Paul said, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose”.
You see, so long as you are a child of God, all things shall work together for your good. No matter how difficult or challenging a situation may be, God will work things out for your good.

You see, whatever was meant to bring you destruction and disgrace would work together for your good, if you can trust God in your moments of difficulty.

Always look out for what God can do in your trials and challenges.
This is why you must “Count it all joy” when difficulties show up, because God will work for your good.

Read: 2 Corinthians 9:8 “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for more grace to still trust you in every situation for a good turn around. Amen

The power factor in working for God.

Acts 1:8
“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth”.

Working for God is a privilege bestowed on every Christian. It is also our main duty in this world as believers. Nonetheless, you can not work for God until you have being empowered to do so.

Jesus had to empower all his disciples before sending them out to work for him.
See Matthews account on this.
“And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease” (Matthew 10:1)

You see before the disciples of Christ could do any mighty work, they had to receive the divine power from God.

Similarly, today, you can’t do any significant work for God until you have received power from above.
This divine power gives the believer a dynamic ability to bring changes. It also gives you authority over evil spirits.

You see when you receive divine power, you can effectively evangelise the world, heal the sick, raise dead, cast out demons and bring restoration to God’s people without struggle.
It is by the power of God that you are able to make impact in this world.

Don’t be deceived, the devil or the evil in this world does not respond to your status in the flesh, or any political power or your achievements in your career. It only takes the demonstration of God’s power to undo the works of the devil.

Learn to wait on God to be endued with Power. Crave for it, and be willing to pay the price for it.

Read: Acts 1:8
“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray that as I continue with your work may it not be void of your power. Amen
