“If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour”
Leadership is a very important for any institution to thrive. However, the leadership that makes any meaningful impact is one that is founded on service. We are all called to be servants. Contrary to worldly opinions and concepts of leadership, Christ taught that, to lead, you must first serve.
See Marks account of Jesus’s teaching on serving.
“But Jesus called them to him , and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister, And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many” (Mark 10:42-45).
The general misconception is that, leaders are meant to be served or enjoy the best of everything. But you see, that’s actually not the case. Jesus said, if you want to be the chief or master, be the servant first.
Unfortunately, many are not willing to pay the price of service. In fact, most people are craving for the power that comes with leadership but none is ready to subject themselves to service.
Nonetheless, servanthood is the God ordained way to thrive as a leader.
Always know that, your first point of service must be to God and whatever he demands of you.
God is calling you into a place of greatness that comes through service.
Endeavor to be a servant.
