Abide in God

John 15:4;
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me”

Every child of God can have an intimate fellowship with God. This is by constantly communioning with God and living by is word. By this, you are abiding in God.
You see, the presence of God is the very essence that fills the believer and empowers him to do exploits in life.

Jesus explained this truth as he though his disciples in John 15:4;
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me”

You see, the branch of a tree cannot survive when it’s separated from the main tree. This is because, it is by the main tree that the branch receives it supplies.

Similarly, no child of God can fully function and live long without a connection to God. As matter of fact, living outside God is ‘spiritual death’.

You see, God is our place of divine provision, safety and purpose. In other words, He is our source. We can’t live without abiding in him. You must understand that, all you need to live a successful life is found in God and no other.

Today, many believers are deceived to believe that God cannot provide for their needs or keep them safe from harm. This falsehood has kept many from enjoying the blessings of the Lord.

Make it a decision to abide in God. Make Jesus the Lord of your life. You can also abide as you keep God’s word in your heart and make a practice of it.

Read: Acts 17:28
“For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to always abide in you in order to build an intimate fellowship with you.

Build a solid character

1 Thessalonians 2:10
“Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe”.

We have no control over a lot of things in life. For instance we don’t get to choose our parents or the circumstances of our birth and upbringing. However, we have the power to choose our character. We create it each time we make choices. That is why you must allow the word of God to inform your choices in life.

Character is more than talk or what we say about ourselves. Anyone can say he has integrity but action is the real indicator of character. Who you are and what you do is determined by your character, hence you can’t separate your character from your actions.

Hence Apostle Paul in making reference to his character said in 1 Thessalonians 2:10;
“Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe”.

He had the confidence in his character knowing very well how his actions never contradicted his sayings of teachings. Your best sermon is your character, preach it well.

You see, how a person deals with circumstances in life tells many things about his character. Crisis doesn’t necessarily make character but it certainly reveals them. The truth is that, it is only in the days of crisis that you would know if you would stick to God’s word or compromise to get comfort.

From today, let God’s word inform your choices and actions. It is one way to build a solid character without blemish.

Read: Philippians 2:15
“That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to consistently build a strong character in Christ. Amen

GOD WANTS YOU WELL.

3 John 1:2
“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health even as thy soul prospereth.”

The desire and expectation of God is that you will have an all-round success in every aspect of your life. The Bible reveals that God wants you well financially, physically and spiritually. Anything short of this is not God’s will for your life.
You see, it is “bad theology” or may be “wrong teaching” that God does not want the best for his Children. The goodness of God and the nature of God makes him give his best to us at all times.

Romans 5:8 says that “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners”. You see, even when we were STILL sinners, God gave us His best. He made Jesus came to die for our sins. What more can’t he do for us now that we are his children.

For instance, if you are sick, don’t think for a moment that God has caused you to be sick. Sickness is not from God. Get this truth once and for all that sickness comes from the devil. He uses it to steal our potential to do good things in life. Not only that, when we live in sin, it beaks God’s hedge over our lives and causes the devil to strike. See Ecclesiastes 10:8 “…whosoever breaks a hedge, a serpent shall bite…”

When it comes to God, he wants you to live out your best by giving you His best. God wants you to fulfill your potential in life. The truth is, God sent Jesus because He wants us well. He wants us healthy spiritually, physically, emotionally, financially, and in our relationships.

Once this truth saturates your mind and heart, you will be on your way to knowing and living the best of life.

Read: Obadiah 1:17: But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions

Prayer: Lord, I thank you for all the provisions you have made to see me live out my full potential. Amen

Making godly choices

Revelation 20:7-8
“And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth.. the number of whom is as the sand of the sea”.

Life is always full of options. You must day in and day out choose one alternative against another.
In this “choosing” business, we have to sometimes choose between what seems “good” and what is actually godly or God’s will.

Nonetheless, as a believer what you choose or an option you pick is of a great importance to God. That is, your choice will either keep you in God’s will or derail you.

One truth you must know as a Christian is that, our adversary, the devil is always at work to decieve and wrongly influence your choices in life. He would use any means posible to deceive you out of God’s will and agenda.

A classic example is how he deceived Eve to eat of the forbidden fruit (Genesis 3:6).
“And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat”.

Just like before, the devil still presents stuffs to believers today with the aim of deceiving them into disobedience towards God. You see, when it comes to making a decision, choosing an option against another, until you know the will of God, you will be vulnerable.

This is why you must seek to know God’s word. The word of God will give you a discerning spirit and heart to distinguish against the devils tricks.
(Hebrews 4:12)

You will always come across a friend, money, job, opportunity, etc that seems good but always make sure you are led by God before making a decision.

Always remember that, that something or someone is nice does not make it God given.

Read: Revelation 20:7-8
“And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth.. the number of whom is as the sand of the sea”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace and wisdom to be able to make godly choices from today. Amen

The right conversation

Colossians 4:6
“Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone”

Conversation plays a key role in life. It’s the major way by which we express ourselves and convey messages to people. Nonetheless, as Christians God’s word teaches how to converse or talk to people.

You see, without guidance from God’s word you will converse or talk wrongly. For us as Christians, our line of conversation must be gracious and pleasant, it must also bring healing and preservation to the hearers.

Don’t just talk or utter words. Words carry power. They don’t only convey thoughts but also impart your hearers. Whoever you are talking with or whoever you are answering, make sure your words bless, impart positively and build up.

Let your conversation be free from silly jokes and every form of profanity. Words spoken in this manner or such conversations are never gracious.

Ephesians 4:29 says “Do not let unwholesome [foul, profane, worthless, vulgar] words ever come out of your mouth, but only such speech as is good for building up others, according to the need and the occasion, so that it will be a blessing to those who hear [you speak]”. (AMP)

Always be in tune with the Spirit of God and let God’s word dominate your heart. By this, it is certain that you will always be a blessing in your conversations.

Read: 2 Timothy 2:16 “But avoid all irreverent babble and godless chatter [with its profane, empty words], for it will lead to further ungodliness” (AMP)

Prayer: Lord, I pray that henceforth my words will be seasoned with with salt and full of grace to bless and impart my hearers.

The time of testing

Luke 8:13
“Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away”

One remarkable truth Jesus revealed in his earthly life is the “time of testing” that will befall every man. As a Christian, your faith will one day be tested. Not only that, you will be tested on the basis of the truth you have heard and seen in the word.

You see, the time of testing does not pick and choose. Just that everyone will be tested at different times and seasons. Knowing this truth must make you stay alert and grounded in the truth.

Until you are tested, you will not know what you can stand for or fall for. The results after you are tested tells whether God’s word has gained roots in your heart. You see, until you are tested, you can’t be approved of. No one vouches for something they have not tried.

Don’t just listen to God’s word. Daily engage the truth learnt no matter the situation or challenges you face. Stay holy despite the immorality prevalent in the world, stay loyal despite the betrayals and disloyalty syndrome, be a giver despite the hardships staring in the face of everyone. When you stand your grounds for the word now, you will survive the days of trials.

Read: Colossians 2:6-7 “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness” (NIV)

Prayer. Lord, I pray that your word will be deep down cemented in my heart to be able to stand in time of testing. Amen

Only believe

Mark 5:36
“As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe”

The above admonishment of Jesus to the ruler of the synagogue; “don’t be afraid, only believe” is a great principle that must govern the exercise of our faith.

The preceding verses tells us how the ruler had gone to Jesus to ask for help for the sick daughter. The ruler of the synagogue was specific in his request to the Lord.

He believed that when Jesus prays for the daughter she shall be healed and shall not die.

As Jesus made his way to his home, the man was told the daughter had died so there was no need to have Jesus come again. Mark 5:35 says”… there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?”

But Jesus’s response to the man in this situation was “only believe, don’t be afraid ”. You see, despite that fact Jesus was all powerful and could do all things. He needed the ruler to be with a certain “attitude or understanding” to make things work out.

You see, anytime you panic and give in to fear when you are faced with daring situations, you negate your faith.

Never focus on the problems you are faced with as a Christian. Keep your gaze on the Lord and believe that he is able to make good any request you have placed into his hands.

No matter your situation or condition. Only believe!

Read: Mark 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

Prayer: Lord, I pray that I will always maintain my believing position irrespective of the situation.

Stay alert

Matthew 25:13
“Therefore, be on the alert [be prepared and ready], for you do not know the day nor the hour [when the Son of Man will come”

One attitude that must characterise your life as a Christian is alertness. Christians who don’t cultivate this lifestyle of alertness in life will lose out a great deal.

When you are alert, it means you are vigilant. That’s to say that, you have made yourself ready to see something, understand something or act in a particular way. Being alert also means that, you are in a state that makes you think quickly and notice things.

In Mathew chapter 25:1-12, we see a story of some ten virgins who took a journey to meet the bridegroom. But as events turned out, five made it and the other five did not. They missed out because of not being alert or ready when the bridegroom came.

Today, everyone who is a Christian is on a journey. Your alertness or vigilance will determine whether you can be ready when Jesus comes. Stay alert as a Christian! Take note of the times and the seasons. Know that it is not business as usual. Romans 13:11 says “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for “now” is our salvation nearer than when we believed”

In this end times, your alertness will serve you right. When you don’t stay alert chances are that you will miss out. Stay alert so that you are not caught up with the wrong stuffs or find yourself at the wrong side of things.

Don’t forget that when you are alert as a Christian, it makes you ever ready for the Lord. Death won’t surprise you and neither will rapture because you have already prepared for that.

Read: 1 Peter 4:7 “The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray” (NIV)

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to be more alert and vigilant in this times of the last days. Amen

It is worth waiting on the Lord.

Romans 8:25
“But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.”

Waiting plays a significant role in our hope towards God. Your ability to wait patiently on God in dire seasons of life shows great hope.
Unfortunately, many believers are not patient enough to wait.

Bible says “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)
You see anytime you wait on God your strength is renewed.

Waiting period doesn’t mean a period of inactivity, on the contrary, waiting demands that you engage in a lot of spiritual activities.

For instance, when a sower puts a seed in the ground, he must wait for it to germinate. During that period of waiting, he must apply manure, water the soil, give adequate sunlight, etc. He does all these while waiting for germination to begin.

Similarly, as a believer, your waiting period must be full of spiritual exercise. You must keep on praising the Lord, you must worship and keep a positive confession, knowing that in the right time God will show up.

Don’t lose your hope while waiting. Waiting period is a period of renewal. It builds in your tenacity and strength.

Don’t quickly exit the doors of waiting on the Lord.

Read: Isaiah 64:4
“For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to be able to wait on you in all circumstances. Amen

Dont fall in the day of trouble

Isaiah 37:3
“They told him, This is what King Hezekiah says: Today is a day of trouble, insults, and disgrace. It is like when a child is ready to be born, but the mother has no strength to deliver the baby”

There are many situations or issues that you may be faced with in life. Some may be good whiles others may not. For instance there are times when you can have more than enough and there are times too when things may be scarce. In fact, there are days of peace and there are other days too when you may be faced with troubles. However, as believers God expects us to stand in the day of trouble and not to fall or give up.

The Bible actually reveals the causer of all troubles, the devil. He is our chief adversary in life.
1 Peter 5:8 says “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour”

A real example of a day of trouble is what we witness about the righteous man, Job.
In a single day, he lost his business, his family and his estate. As though these were not enough, his health also failed.
But in all these, the Bible says Job still stood strong and never turn against the Lord. In fact, against the advise of the wife for him to curse God, Job rather looked up to God in all these troubles. (Job 2:9)

You see, the Bible teaches us to stand and not fall in the day of trouble. Proverbs 24:10 says “If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small”.

No matter the trouble that will come to you, whether in your finances, marriage, relationship, work, ministry, or health, remain firm and believe that God is able to see you through it.
In the day of trouble pray, search God’s word and make it your confession. Never despair but encourage yourself daily.

Be strong, be encouraged. Weeping, like trouble may endure for a night but your joy, breakthrough, miracle will come in the morning and it will stay forever.

Read: Romans 8:37
“Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for more grace to stand in the day of trouble. Amen
