Sophia

Corinthians 1:30,
“But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption”.

Sophia is the Greek rendering for ‘wisdom’. When the Bible talks of Sophia, it is talking about the manifold wisdom of God that is now operational in all believers.

When it comes to wisdom, Christ is our source. Born again folks have a higher wisdom. Not the wisdom of this world but that which is of God and is Christ himself.
The Apostle Paul explains this in 1 Corinthians 1:30,
“But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption”.

Again, he reiterate this further in Romans 11:33 “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!”

This same wisdom was evident in the life of Jesus. In fact, Jesus acted in wisdom throughout his earthly life.
See Matthew 11:19;
“The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds

This is why every one called by God to serve in anyway in ministry must seek after wisdom. It is a prerequisite that validates your calling.

“Therefore, brethren, select from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put in charge of this task. (Acts 6:3)
You see, you can’t be called by God and still live or act as though you are not wise.

Nonetheless, this wisdom of God is not only given to leaders and ministers but to all who are Christ’s.
All Christians have been called to manifest the wisdom of God on the earth.
Ephesians 3:10 so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places.

Don’t live in ignorance, child of God. Wisdom is your birthright, therefore walk in it.

Read: Proverbs 2:6
“For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray that I will always live manifest this wisdom that comes from you. Amen

Better is a day in your courts.

Psalm 84:10
“Certainly spending just one day in your temple courts is better than spending a thousand elsewhere. I would rather stand at the entrance to the temple of my God than live in the tents of the wicked”

One of the things you must appreciate as a Christian and take advantage of is the opportunity of fellowshipping with believers in the house of God. Nothing can be compared to this in any way, since it is a meeting or a gathering where God will manifest his power, and glory unto us. Not only that, he will instruct and admonish us with his word.

David, the shepherd boy who became a King, Priest and Prophet saw the importance of coming to the temple courts of the Lord. He recounts this in Psalm 84:10 that “For a day in God’s courts is better than a thousand anywhere else; I would rather stand as a doorkeeper at the threshold of the house of my God than to live at ease in the tents of wickedness”.

You see, a day in God’s house is better than going to another place thousand times. Meaning that, the impact and the glory that will be released over your life cannot be made available by going to another place even for thousand times. Think of it, is it your work, is it the hospital, is it the networking with friends for certain privileges? Well nothing you will get from these places and relationships can surpass what being in God’s presence just for a day can do in your life.

This is the very reason why you must not take spiritual gatherings for granted. You see, you must go to the gathering of believers (Church or the temple) because God will show up and make good what is lacking in your life. Your pastor must not be the reason and the motivation for you going to these gatherings, God must be.

On spending time with other believers in the temple Hebrews 10:25 also says “not forsaking our meeting together as believers for worship and instruction, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more faithfully as you see the day of Christ’s return approaching.

Child of God, don’t use your work, personal pursuits and interest as an excuse to miss spiritual engagements and moments you must be with other believers in the temple. Remember, no place or person can make you move from glory to glory apart from God.

Read: Psalm 16:11 “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore”

Prayer: Lord, I pray that nothing will quench the desire and passion to be in your court. Amen

DON’T FORGET GOD!

Deuteronomy 8:18
But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

God wants you to always remember His goodness for your life. Anything short of this is not God’s will. For instance, after the Lord had delivered his people the Israelites from the 430 years of captivity in Egypt, His admonishment to them was “don’t be forgetful”. Meaning that, God considers what you do with Him and for Him after benefiting from Him.

Deuteronomy 8:7 recounts: “For the LORD thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills”. You see, when God ushered His people into a new level of life, He cautioned them to be grateful, by not being forgetful. That’s exactly what God requires of you.

Nonetheless, this is where many people miss it. They are eager and quick to receive from the Lord, but easily forgets all of his goodness.
They refuse to continually appreciate and celebrate the goodness of God that made them who they are today.

What has the Lord done for you? For some people, the Lord took them from pain to gain, shame to fame, grass to grace, nothing to something.
What has been your experience, and are you grateful or forgetful? David in Psalms103, said “bless the Lord my soul and forget not all his benefits”.

Remember that, your heart of gratitude is what causes God to still flourish you. To think that your success in life was by your own strength is a spirit of ingratitude.

Remember that it is all because of the blessings of the Lord that you are where you are today. Always be grateful to the Lord.

DON’T forget God!

Read: Psalm 103:2 “Bless and affectionately praise the LORD, O my soul, And do not forget any of His benefits”

Prayer: Lord, I pray that I will never be forgetful for every blessing and the good you’ve done for me. Amen

Don’t worry about your life

Matthew 6:25
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

Society by itself has structured out things that determines your joy and happiness. These include having food, clothes, shelter, job, marriage etc, therefore the absence of these automatically gets you into worrying about your life and even looking down on yourself.

But Jesus wanting to teach us against such said in Matthew 6:25;
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?”

You see, nothing is supposed to get you worried in life.
To be worried means to be in a state of mental distress or agitation resulting from concern usually for something impending or anticipated.

You must know that worry is not from God, if not He won’t ask you not to engage in it. It is a device of the enemy, programmed to make you fearful, sorrowful and anxious in life. Anytime you engage in worrying, you are allowing the devil to rob you of your joy in Christ.

Worrying also a spirit. Excessive worrying leads to heaviness of heart.
See Isaiah 61:3;
To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness…”

You must get rid of all heaviness from your heart in order to flow freely to wherever God wants you to be. When you are heavy in heart, you can’t think right to make a right decision in life. It gets you stuck in one place for long time. Thus, worrying is just the devil’s plan to delay you in life. Get rid of worry!

You must not take worrying lightly at all. Fight it out as though you were fighting against sin. Deal with it as you would with adultery or lasciviousness.

Always remember that, God wants you free from worrying and reasoning.

Read: Philippians 4:6
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray that I will not be overcomed by the spirit of worry. Amen

Respect the prophet from your house

Mark 6:4
“But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house”.

Prophets, just like pastors are called by God to be his mouthpiece on earth. They utter God’s mind to his people as they see and hear from God. The ministry of a prophet is a honorable one and must be treated as such.

You must also know that it is a blessing to have a prophet in your house or your local church. For the local congregation, the head pastor is your prophet. That’s why it would be in your own interest to respect and receive these God given prophets.
Matthew 10:41 says “He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward…”
Thus receiving a prophet comes with a reward.

To respect the prophet from your house means to honor and appreciate them. In showing honor to them, you must learn to say good and nice things about them. Don’t be critical of your prophet, to always find faults with him. It is also not good practice to compare your prophet to other prophets. Some people are not proud of their prophets so they don’t even take their words serious.
But you must be different by treating your prophet with honor.

When you respect your prophet, you will honor them by giving them good things. (2Kings 4:8-17).

One reason why you can’t respect your prophet is due to familiarity. People who most often relate closely with their prophet turn to take them for granted rather than being grateful for the opportunity or privilege they have. Some also asume they know everything about their prophet(especially his failures or challenges) so they disregard him and his ministry. But this would be unprofitable on your part.

From today, learn to respect the prophet God has given you. Your prophet is for your profit.
See Hosea 12:13: “And by a prophet the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.”

Read: Luke 4:24
“And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace and wisdom to respect and honor the prophet you have given to me.Amen

The ministration of the Spirit

2 Corinthians 3:18
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Man’s walk with God has gone through many phases or dispensations.
The Bible talks about how God related with his own as a father and also how he was manifested in the flesh to deal with humanity as Jesus.
All these seasons have their own unique experiences and blessings.

All these dispensations come with a special covenant that God establishes with his people. For instance we had the old covenant that came with laws and instructions pertaining to worship and sacrifices.

Also, one main experience with the law and the old covenant was death, and condemnation. Yet, it didn’t come with glory.

Nonetheless, it is important to know that, after the death, ressurection, and ascension of Christ, we were ushered into a new dispensation. This is the dispensation of the ministration of the Spirit. It is a season where God’s very presence comes to reside in us, with us and by us.
Not only that, this era comes with freedom from guilt and any form of condemnation.

The Bible calls this era, a “greater glory” era(2 Corinthians 3:18). Meaning you can enjoy God to the fullest, your life can be glorious and beautiful.

Don’t settle for anything below standard in this Spirit filled and Spirit led era. With the ministration of the Spirit, you have power over every works of darkenness.
Keep meditating on the truth of God’s word and you will move from glory to glory.

Read: 2 Corinthians 3:18 “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”

Prayer: Lord I pray that I will not miss the opportunity to experience your greater glory that you have promised. Amen

Take heart!

John 16:33
“In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world”.

It is without doubt that the turn of events in our world is moving from bad to worse. Paul’s letter to Timothy echoes this truth. 2 Timothy 3:1 says “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come”.

Yet, in the midst of all this uncertainties and troubles that the end times bring, God says be of good cheer or take heart. In other words, never be moved by anything or never lose your joy.

You see, irrespective of what happens, you are always on the winning side. Having in mind that Jesus has already overcome the world, you need not to fear about the future.
Never give in to worry, God got your back

Remember that God will always keep you in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). You have God’s word that, the “fires” of life cannot consume you, neither can the “waters” of life sweep over you.

Remain focused in your walk with God and never let your heart be troubled in anything.

Read: Isaiah 43:2 “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to remain strong in faith and not to give in to fear of the world’s troubles and challenges. Amen

TO WHOM SHALL WE GO

John 6:68
“Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life”.

Following the Lord must be without any alternative. You must follow God wholeheartedly. That’s the only way the believer can enjoy and be blessed by the Lord.

Peter’s response to Jesus when he was asked by the Lord of his “exit plan” shows an unwavering commitment of the former. See John 6:67-68 “Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.”

Today, the body of Christ is suffering from lack of commitment from its members. We are faced with a situation other authors have titled, “fair weather commitment”.
We have Christians whose commitment is not absolute but dependent on “many things” in the Church apart from Christ. These are believers who are committed to God when all is well.

You see, as a Christian, Christ and matters of eternity must be the basis of your commitment.
You can’t be committed to God, and your local Church because of a friend or the crowd in the Church. If Peter’s commitment was motivated by the people following the Lord, their departure would have been his departure.

Nonetheless, although Jesus preached a “hard message” Peter and the other disciples still kept their gaze on the “eternal words” and not on their emotions.
This was the key to their survival and commitment.

When it comes to following God, don’t have an exit plan. Don’t let negative emotions, the challenges of life and friends interfere with your commitment in any way.

Read: Luke 9:62 “And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to stay fully committed to you and your things irrespective of the circumstances that comes my way.

Catch the anointing

Hebrews 1:9
“You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy”

It is important to desire the anointing or to desire to be anointed to do exploits in the ministry and in life.
Nonetheless, the anointing does not only come by desire. You have to catch it. You have to yield yourself for it and you have to prepare for it.

You see, it is God that makes you anointed. The anointing ultimately comes from God, only that he may allow the anointing to come to you in different ways.

Nonethelss, there is a price to pay for the anointing. The Bible teaches clearly how by loving righteousness and hating wickedness Jesus caught the anointing.

Your separation from worldliness, carnility and any form of evil doing is the basic requirement for you catching the anointing.

God wants an army of Christians that will speak his word to this generation, God wants to anoint us for that, God wants us to walk in signs and wonders, but we must pay the price of separating ourselves from any fleshly agenda and be devoted to God.

Read: Psalm 89:20 “I have found David my servant; with my sacred oil I have anointed him”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to separate myself from any fleshly agenda and pursuit to be devoted to you. Amen

The heart business

Proverbs 4:23
“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life”

You have an obligation towards your own heart.
You see, your heart is one important thing that you must take serious. The heart referred to here is the human spirit, which is your inner man. This is what the epistles refer to as the “man on the inside”.

Although most people have mastered the art of mounting guard over their material things they have failed to do so when it comes to the heart.

The Bible says all the issues of life or the springs of life comes from the heart. This is what makes the heart a precious thing to keep, or to guard with great effort.

For instance, whether fear, love, faith, hatred, or lust, it all flows out of the heart. Thus, keeping your heart means that, you do everything possible to make your heart remain in a perfect state or condition. Also mounting guard over your heart means that you don’t allow your heart to go astray or wander in wrong stuffs. So as Christian you must guard your heart against all improper affections. Left to itself, the heart of man will wander in carnal things.

Never forget that the state of your heart determines your moral character. The intention of your actions will always correspond to the dispositions that prevail within. On whatever side the weight of inclination hangs, it will draw the practice after it. Independent of all action, it is, in truth, the state of the heart itself which forms our character in the sight of God.

Read: You have tested my thoughts and examined my heart in the night. You have scrutinized me and found nothing wrong. I am determined not to sin in what I say. (Psalm 17:3)

Take note of this truth: “you are known before the Lord by your heart and not only by your act”.
Consistently study and mediate on God’s word since it is the only way to mount guard over your heart and never allow ideas and opinions which are inconsistent with the word of God into your heart. In fact, ignore them as they come.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to mount guard around my heart by constantly studying and meditating on your words.
