Give heed to instruction

Proverbs 4:1
“Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding”

Anyone who wants to succeed must learn to take instructions serious.

Instruction is a statement that describes how to do something, it is also an order or command. Instruction can also be a correction or a rebuke.
Anytime you are instructed you receive direction and guidance as to how to go about your endeavors.
Instructions from God, pastors, teachers, fathers, etc. helps us to avoid taking the wrong path in life.

You see, there are some ways that may seem right before your eyes although they may end up destroying you (Proverbs 16:25). Similarly some choices or decisions that you want to make in life may rather live you in a worse situation. But an instruction from God, and your pastor is what will save you from all these.

A godly instruction may not always be your “taste”. In fact, some instructions may seem to curtail your pleasure in life. But it is also a very sure way because your future is assured by it.

Train yourself to receive godly instructions. Instructions are your safeguards against destructions.

Read: Jeremiah 35:13 “Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Will ye not receive instruction to hearken to my words? saith the Lord”

Prayer: Lord, I ask for grace to be able to take heed to instruction always. Amen

It matters what you know

Hosea 4:6
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”

Knowledge is an advantage. It is an undeniable fact that most successful people operate with knowledge.

Knowledge is key in the school of success.
You can’t make progress in life when you remain an ignoramus. It is what you know that puts you ahead in life.
Life has offered many people the opportunity to make it, but their ignorance destroyed their chances.

Similarly, as a Christian how far you can go also depends on the depth of your knowledge in the things of God. It is your knowledge in the word of God that makes you reign and victorious in life.

The Bible talks of a woman who suffered for twelve years from bleeding, and her condition never improved. But the Bible said when she “HEARD” of Jesus or “got knowledge”, her story changed (Mark 5:25-34). She got her healing because of something she knew. But before then, many people who had followed and touched Jesus did it naturally without any breakthrough.
Nonetheless, this woman came to do so with “knowledge” and went home blessed. God honoured her knowledge in action – “this is faith”.

Feed on the word, and get to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. Know some important principles in the Word of God. It will give you insight and foresight to reign in life.

Read: John 8:32 “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray that I will never lack the knowledge that will bring me deliverance and freedom in life.

The name Jesus

Hebrews 1:4
“Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they”

The name Jesus is one of the greatest weapons that God has made available to the body of Christ. This name is not a mere religious jargon. It is a name loaded with power and recognised in both Heaven and hell.

The Bible says, the name of Jesus is above every name. (Philippians 2:9). Meaning, the name is above any sickness, disease, challenge or trouble known to the world.

At the mention of the name Jesus miracles are released. The name of Jesus made whole a man lame from his mother’s womb (Acts 3:1-11).

The Bible says at the mention of the NAME-JESUS every knee shall bow.
Engage the name constantly in your affairs. The name is loaded with wonders to put you on top of every situation. With the name Jesus on your lips you are not at the mercy of the devil.

Read: John 14:14 “If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it:

Prayer: Lord, I pray that the name of Jesus will be more real to me from today. Amen

Be zealous for the Lord

Numbers 25:13
“And he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel”

To be zealous means to be eager and full of strong feeling to do something.

The Bible says that when Jesus was on earth he was consumed with zeal for the house of God (John 2:17). This made him drive out money changers, sellers, and shoppers from the house of God. He demanded that God’s house be made a house prayer nothing more, nothing less.
Jesus’ zeal for God and the things of the Kingdom made him give up his life to bring us into glory.

God wants you to channel your zeal for the right things.
Never be zealous for the wrong things. Channelling your zeal into pursuing fruitless things won’t pay off.

The Bible says, it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing (Galatians 4:18). Zeal made Nehemiah rebuild the broken walls of Jerusalem, it made David the King fought relentlessly to establish the land of Israel and provided for the resources that was used to build the temple of God.
Be zealous for the Lord and leave a legacy in the name of God for posterity.

Read: Psalm 69:9 “For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me”

Prayer: Lord, i pray for grace to be zealous for you and anything associated with your kingdom. Amen

Be an example to others in your purity

1 Timothy 4:12
“Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity”

Being a Christian means that you must live a pure or a holy life. Such moral excellence is what makes you an example.

When it comes to purity, God’s word is very emphatic and prescriptive. Christians are not to allow anything that corrupts or contaminates.

In word or deed, you must keep this moral principle without any excuse. That’s to say that, no action you take must lead you into immorality.

Whether in your thoughts or actions, holiness or purity must never be downplayed. You must hold in high esteem things that make you live a morally pure life; word study, prayer, good association, accountability, and godly mentorship.

Remember that this purity mandate is dear to God and must never be taken for granted.

Read: Ephesians 5:3 “But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to always be an example to many in my purity.

Be an example to others in your faith

1 Timothy 4:12 says “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity”.

Your “faith” as a Christian must challenge others. This is how you can be an example in this world.

Our walk with God is a faith walk. That’s to say that, we trust in the Lord and hold on to his word against all contrary opinions and happenings of life. When you live like this, you set an example for others.

You see, never vacilate when you are faced with challenges and never also walk out from your fellowship with God. Stand your grounds in faith. Your faith will prevail and it will be an example to others who may be facing one challenge or the other.

Read: 1 John 5:4 NIV
for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to always be an example to many in my faith. Amen

Be an example to others in your love

1 Timothy 4:12
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”

Walking with God involves walking in love. Your “love life” as a Christian must be an example for others to follow.

Setting an example in love means that your love for God and people must stand out.
When you walk in love, you will put the interest of others first at all times.

Our world today has been thrown into a state of confusion because many people don’t walk in love.
As Christians God wants us to be the “change agents” in this world. He wants us to use “love” to do that.

Any time you walk in love you will easily forgive those who wrong you, give, help, and sacrifice for others. Love does not betray, take advantage over people, or do harm to others.
Let the way you walk in love be an example to others.

Read: Romans 12:9 “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to always be an example to many in my love. Amen

Be an example to others in your conduct

1 Timothy 4:12
“Let no one look down on [you because of] your youth, but be an example and set a pattern for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in [moral] purity”.

How you conduct yourself matters. God is also very much interested in that as well.

The Bible teaches that as Christians we must be an example to others in “conduct” or “in the way we live”.
The word “conduct” means a standard of personal behavior that emanates from a moral principle. Meaning that conduct shows one’s belief.

It is important to note that, people will see more of who you are in terms of what you do than what you say. Thus your actions and inactions, reveals your character or conduct.

God wants you to use this powerful aspect of your life to bless others. Allow the word of God to govern your life so that you will fully manifest the fruit of the spirit.

Always be determined to conduct yourself in a worthy manner, knowing very well that your life is influencing a great number of people unknowingly.

Read: Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to always be an example to many in my conduct. Amen

Be example to others in your speech

1 Timothy 4:12
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity”.

It is important to know that, how you talk and what you talk about does not only convey a message but also influences lives.

As a Christian you must always set a good example in the way you talk and what you talk about. Colossians 4:6 says “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone”.

Never for one moment think that God is not interested in how you talk to people and what you even say. Thus, you must be a “godly” example to others in the way you talk.

Talking carelessly and thoughtlessly can hurt people, and result in strife or contention. It can even crush people’s spirits or get people distracted and discouraged in life.

As you journey in life, learn to talk well, and allow the Holy Spirit to help you choose your words carefully.
Words that comes out of your mouth are spirit and can bring life or death.

Read: Ephesians 4:29 “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to always be an example in my speech.
