Life is not all about riches

Luke 12:15 “Then he said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.”

One of the widespread deceptions in the world today is that “life is all about money”. But this is far from the truth. Life is not all about riches. You see, in as much as God wants you to prosper, getting riches must not be the main reason for your living.

You see, your riches must not make you lose your values and virtues as a Christian. Neither must you let the pursuit of it drown your faith. The love of money, the bible says is the root of all evil. 1 Timothy 6:10 says “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs”

In the life of the believer, money is always secondary. That’s why the bible says when riches increase don’t set your heart on them. Psalm 62:10 says “Place no trust in extortion, or false hope in stolen goods. If your riches increase, do not set your heart upon them”

Beloved, if there is anything to seek, seek God’s kingdom. That’s what must be the core of your life. Mathew 6:33 “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need” Never put getting riches first. Put God first. Folks who make riches the main thing in their life will only be chasing after the wind. Without God, the riches you accumulate will fade away.

Read: Proverbs 23:4-5 “Do not wear yourself out to get rich; be wise enough to restrain yourself. When you glance at wealth, it disappears, for it makes wings for itself and flies like an eagle to the sky”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to have the right perspective to life when it comes to riches. Amen

The power of earnest prayer

The New Living Translation says, “The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results”.

Beloved, your prayers are never wasted. Anytime you pray as a Child of God in line with God’s will, results are inevitable. This is why you must never take your prayers for granted. You must be persistent and faithful in that.
Just as the scripture admonishes, you must be earnest or serious in your prayer life. The results and the changes you want to see in your life is going to happen when you pray. The advancement and the miraculous things you want to see in the body of Christ shall happen when you pray.

Only be earnest, sincere, serious when it comes to prayer. Don’t just pray to be seen praying. That’s not how to command results in prayer. Stand on God’s word to pray on issues. Do it passionately, do it consistently, do it always, and you will see that God will answer you with awesome deeds of righteousness (Psalm 65:5)

Read: 1 John 5:14 “And this is the confidence that we have before Him: If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us”

Prayer: Lord, thank you for the privilege to fellowship with you in prayer. Thank you for the opportunity to also make demands in prayer. I thank you that my prayers are bringing to me untold results. Amen

Give heed to instruction

Proverbs 16:20
“WHOEVER GIVES HEED TO INSTRUCTION PROSPERS, and blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD”

Most often than not, your prosperity as a Christian is embedded in the instructions you obey. This is why you must learn not to downplay on following instructions.

Anytime you are instructed, you are ordered to act or behave in a particular way. Instructions give directions sometimes as to what must be done or must not be done. The bible is not a book of promises or great feats from the heroes of faith, It is also a book of instructions. It gives orders, commands, and prescribes how we must live our Christian lives to bring glory to God.

In the bible we can see some instructions Jesus gave to his disciples. He once told them to wait in Jerusalem for the promise of the father (Luke 24:49), He instructed his disciples as to where and to whom they must preach (Mathew 10:5-6).

The bible also tells of instructions coming from men of God or the prophets of God. Joshua instructed the people of God on what to do to possess the land God has promised them (Joshua 1:10-11), Moses instructed Joshua on how to fight the Amalekites (Exodus 17:9-10), Samuel instructed Saul on what to do after leaving his presence (1 Samuel 10:1-8).
Instructions are fundamental to our lives as Christians. God uses instructions either through is word or from his servant to help us accomplish things in life.

Sometimes these are some causes or ways that may seem right before your very eyes, although they may end up destroying you. Same applies to some choices or decisions that you want to make in life. Thus, instruction is needed to make your way easy.

Read: Proverbs 19:20-21 “Hear counsel, and receive instruction, That thou mayest be wise in thy latter end. There are many devices in a man’s heart; Nevertheless, the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to take heed to instructions and be blessed in my endeavors. Amen

The strength that prevails

Isaiah 40:29-31
“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint”

Strength is an important element in life. Whether spiritual strength or physical strength, both have advantages to the person who has them. A person’s strength determines what he or she can handle, do and achieve in life.

Despite these beautiful and awesome attributes of strength, it is limited when it comes from man or self-created. That’s why the bible says, “by human strength shall no man prevail” (1 Samuel 2:9).

As Christians we must learn to draw our strength from the Lord. His strength in us can empower our spirit. Ephesians 3:20 says this power works mightily in us. Also, the strength of God can help our physical bodies.

Romans 8:11 says “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you”
This is to tell us that it takes the strength of God to do the impossible. Man’s strength is always subjected to limitation and stagnation.

The bible says that His grace is sufficient, and His strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). You see, what you need is the strength from above. You need the strength that prevails. God has given you something beyond the ordinary.

Desist from relying on your own strength and become conscious of the strength that comes from above.

Read: Ephesians 3:16 “May He grant you out of the riches of His glory, to be strengthened and spiritually energized with power through His Spirit in your inner self, [indwelling your innermost being and personality]” (AMP)

Prayer: Lord, I pray that you will always be my source of strength in Wary and tired moments. Amen

Break camp and advance.

Deuteronomy 1:6-7
“When we were at Mount Sinai, the LORD our God said to us, ‘You have stayed at this mountain long enough. It is time to break camp and move on. Go to the hill country of the Amorites and to all the neighboring regions—the Jordan Valley, the hill country, the western foothills, the Negev, and the coastal plain. Go to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, and all the way to the great Euphrates River”

God’s desire for his children is that they may move forward. As Christians our lives must be from glory to glory. We must not be stacked in one place or plateau in our walk with God. Know that remaining at one position and status in life without progress is not God’s will.

The Israelites in their journey to the promise land ought to be instructed by God to break camp and advance. Although the people found comfort and rest at the Mount Sinai in a town called Horeb, yet that was not God’s best for them. God wanted them to forge ahead and move through the wilderness into the land flowing with milk and honey.

You see, as Christians, we may sometimes be tempted to do little or become complacent due to some level of progress attained. But God wants something more than that. He wants you to shine brighter and brighter unto the perfect end. Don’t be trapped with some “immediate comfort” in your walk with God. “Labour on, spend and be spent”, just as the Hymn writer Horatius Bonar (1843) once wrote.

Break out from your comfort, break out from what you call “peace of mind” and reach out for the best that God has for you.

If it is about your ministry, do it to the next level, if it is about your career, stand out, if it is about your personal relationship with God, go deeper. That’s how to see the wonders of God (Psalm 107: 23-24).

Read: Philippians 3:14 “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to break camp and advance from every place and position I am in. Amen

Be patient in life

James 1:3-4
“knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”

Although patience is a priceless virtue, it can’t be easily exercised when one lacks knowledge of it. Patience becomes essential during daring times in a person’s life. You must understand that everyone’s patience is tested at a point in time in life. This is where you must bring to the fore the virtue of patience.

Being patient as a Christian demand that you stay true to the Lord and keep on living out your convictions in the face of adversity. Romans 12:12 says “Be joyful in hope, PATIENT IN AFFLICTION, faithful in prayer”.

Beloved, are you going through hard times in life, BE PATIENT. When life throws its storms at you, rely on the Lord, and be persuaded by the WORD that faithful is He who has promised you.

Don’t let the temporarily difficult moments in life make you give up in life. Keep your faith like Job. Job lost virtually everything at some point in his life- he lost his business, he lost his children, and was finally taken ill. Despite these happenings, he was convinced of God’s deliverance. Job 19:25 “For I know that my Redeemer and Vindicator lives, and at the last He will take His stand upon the earth” (AMP).

That’s why James admonished that we consider the patience of Job to learn from it. James 5:11 “Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy”.

Don’t do something untoward because of what you are experiencing in life today. Be patient. Wait on the Lord, keep praying and studying God’s word, and you will see the glory of God.

Read: Hebrews 6:15 “And so, having patiently waited, he obtained the promise”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to be patient in every circumstance I find myself in. Amen

The Triumphant Church

2 Corinthians 2:14
“Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place”

The caption “Triumphant Church can also be rendered as the ” Triumphant believer “,or the “triumphant breed”.

As Christians we are in the place of victory. Not only that, but we are made to move from victory to victory in Christ. The bible says God always causes us to triumph.

You see, the believer is the Church of God and Christ is the head of the Church. Thus, if Christ who is the head of all things and has defeated the devil, then the Child of God is not in the place of defeat.

Colossians 2:15 says “And having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, TRIUMPHING OVER THEM BY THE CROSS.”
Therefore, when you become born again you become a victor. The new life brings us to the place where there is no defeat, sin, sicknesses, or any demonic limitation.

We have victory over the works of the enemy. This victory is a done deal. It is an accomplished or finished work of Jesus. This is what brought us into this wonderful and glorious realm of life. Never for one moment think that the devil or his cohorts are superior to you.

Read: Colossians 2:15, “He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.” (ESV)

Prayer: Lord, I pray that I will live with this victory consciousness in my spirit that no satanic power will hold me captive anymore.

Prepare yourself for the task ahead

Luke 14:31-32
“Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. WON’T HE FIRST SIT DOWN AND CONSIDER WHETHER HE IS ABLE with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand? If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace”

Preparation is a major factor to consider anytime you want to succeed in life. It must precede your actions. Most often than not, people do things for which they are ill prepared for in life. This has been the major cause of failure and setbacks in the life of many people.

In our opening text, Jesus spoke of preparation in this wise that, which King when he is about to go to war won’t sit and consider whether he is able. Thus, for Jesus it is not just a matter of doing things in life, but rather doing things for which you are well prepared for to bring success.

You see, talking about success without preparation won’t bring any results. Preparation makes you do analysis, and a thorough thinking on what you want to do. It also helps you to build capacity, skill, knowledge, and character for the task ahead.
Finally, preparation helps you to do a practical action step that will make you succeed in whatever you want to do. Irrespective of what you want to do, prepare.

Prepare for leadership, prepare for your further education, prepare for your entrepreneurial vision, prepare for your marriage, and prepare for whatever thing you want to do in life.
Don’t just do things. Not only will it lead to failure, but you may also have wasted time and resources.

Read: 2 Chronicles 27:6 “So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the LORD his God”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to always stay prepared and ready for any task or mandate in life. Amen

God’s love is unconditional

Romans 5:7-8
“For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. BUT GOD DEMONSTRATES HIS OWN LOVE TOWARD US, IN THAT WHILE WE WERE STILL SINNERS, CHRIST DIED FOR US”

God’s love for us is not based on merit or what we have achieved. He loves us despite our weaknesses or strengths. The bible says most people would not be willing to die for an upright person yet in our state of sin and helplessness, Christ died for us. This is nothing but UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.

You see, though love is one of the frequently used vocabularies in the world, the love we display towards one another hardly reflects the God kind of love. Most often than not, the love people display is conditional. But this is not so with God. He loves the sinner just as He loves the saint. His love for the sinner made Christ died for us, and His love for the saint made him give us the Holy Spirit (John 14:16).

Always know that God loves you and He is not mad at you. Walk in life with this confidence. Never feel inferior because some persons look down on you or rejected you. You are loved by the creator of the world. His love never fails, and He will never betray you.

Lamentations 3:22-23 says “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness”
Beloved, God is an embodiment of love, and His love is unconditional. This love is not subjected to circumstances. Don’t belittle God’s love, rather desire to walk in that realm of love because we are sons and daughters of the most High.

Practice this same love in your dealings with people. Love people unconditionally, help as many as you can to make it in life and put a smile on the forgotten and forsaken ones.

Read: John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”

Prayer: Lord, I thank you for your unfailing love you have shown me and I pray for grace to always walk and demonstrate same to others. Amen

Continue!

Acts 2:42
“And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers”.

To continue means to persist in an activity or process. It also means to do something without stopping, or to keep doing something in the same way as before.

As a Christian you must continue in your walk with God, and in the teachings of the Lord.

The Bible teaches that the early Christians or Church had this exceptional attitude. They heard and continued in the messages that the Apostles of Christ taught in those days. This did they inspite of all the challenges and persecutions present in those days.

This is the standard God wants us to uphold. You see, it is one thing to start something and another thing to continue in what you have started.

Continuing in something you have started often takes persistence, focus, commitment, and looking ahead for the prize that comes with finishing the journey.

As a Christian never follow the word and the Lord a “halfway”.
Make every effort to start and to finish what you have started – your walk with God, and your ministry

Read: 2 Timothy 3:14 “But as for you, continue in the things that you have learned and of which you are convinced [holding tightly to the truths], knowing from whom you learned them” (AMP).

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to continue and to finish my walk with God and ministry.
