Keep Yourself Pure

1 John 3:3
“And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure” .

The Christian life is a call to purity. It is nothing but living a sanctified, separated and devoted life to the Lord.

Thus, keeping yourself pure is necessary for the fellowship you have with the Lord.
Keeping yourself pure demands absolute cleanliness and abstinence from anyone and anything that corrupts your life either spirit, soul or body.

2 Corinthians 7:1 says “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God”.
Your purity has a way to unlock God’s favour and blessings unto your life.
Remember that, God will always keep his promises to you but you must also stay pure to access them.

Never let down your “purity” for anything that the world may want to offer.
Be bold and flee from all appearances of evil. Desire to stay pure and eagerly pursue it against all odds.

Read: Matthew 5:8 ‘Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God’.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to flee from all appearances of evil and to remain pure. Amen

Behave wisely

1 Samuel 18:30
“Then the Philistine commanders (princes) came out to battle, and it happened as often as they did, that David acted more wisely and had more success than all Saul’s servants. So his name was highly esteemed”

Nothing can set you apart in life like behaving yourself wisely.

To behave means to act or conduct oneself in a specified way, especially towards others. Thus, to behave yourself wisely means that you further engage wisdom to determine how you should act or conduct yourself when dealing with all manner of persons.

Our opening text, revealed how this truth of “wise behaviour” brought David, the shepherd boy to the limelight.
You see, no matter how beautiful or handsome you are, until you engage wisdom in how you conduct yourself towards others, you are going nowhere.
In fact, a foolish behaviour can make you lose your God ordained ministry, career or marriage.

Let the wisdom in God’s word guide you in all you do. It will teach you how to talk, how to answer people, how to dress, how to work, how to honour, how to respect, how to serve, how to deal with superiors and colleagues.

Irrespective of your age, you attract favour before God and men when you behave yourself wisely.

Read: 1 Samuel 18:5. “And David went out whithersoever Saul sent him, and behaved himself wisely: and Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul’s servants”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for the grace and wisdom to always behave wisely wherever I get to. Amen

RENEW YOUR MIND

Romans 12:2
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God”.

Until the mind of the believer is renewed, his new life will be completely denied expression. Your mind is one part of you that never changes after you get born again. Salvation, or born again is a spiritual experience that makes your spirit a new person.
Nonetheless, your body and your mind remain the same. This is the very reason why you must renew your mind.

Renewing your mind demands that you change your way of thinking, your approach to life and worldly principles to be in conformity to God’s word.

The Apostle Paul on teaching about the mind said, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus” Philippians 2:5. Thus, your goal must be to have a renewed mind like that of Christ.

You see, constant meditation on the word will bring your mind to the point where it will be in sync with your recreated spirit. This is when you can fully express the life of God in all you do.

Make it a practice to constantly feed on the word. It will make you see and understand things from God’s perspective.
When your mind is renewed, you begin to appreciate spiritual things than ever before.

Read: Ephesians 4:23-24. “Let the Spirit change your way of thinking and make you into a new person. You were created to be like God, and so you must please him and be truly holy.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to renew my mind by a consistent sturdy of your word. Amen

Humble but great

Matthew 18:4
“Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven”

Most people will never associate humility with greatness, but that is exactly what the bible reveals.
Our opening text says “Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest” and not the lowest.

You see, for you to be great in life you need to humble yourself in all respect. Being humble means you don’t overestimate yourself, or have an elevated view of your person in any way.

Most people who refuse to be humble think that overestimating their worth will make them great or relevant in life. But that is far from the truth. No one’s greatness is in pride.

Living in humility is what will actually make God’s grace abound to you to become relevant in life.
Be humble wherever you find yourself and the Lord will elevate you.

Read: James 4:6 “But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for a heart to always stay humble to the end. Amen

Delight yourself in the Lord

Psalm 37:4-5
“Delight yourself in the LORD, And He will give you the desires and petitions of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; Trust in Him also and He will do it.”

God is ever ready to meet the needs of his children. But you have to position yourself- your heart in a way to receive from him.

Your part to play in what God wants to do is for you to delight yourself in him. In other words, you must take pleasure in the Lord. Nothing must be esteemed more than your relationship with him.

Delighting yourself in the Lord also means doing everything possible to please the Lord. When you delight yourself in the Lord, you will not speak lightly of the Lord, the things of the Lord, nor will you live contrary to his plan for your life.

The Psalmist teaches that, people who delight themselves in the Lord, shall receive their desires and petitions put before him.
That’s to say, when you put God first, it will be well with you- spiritually, physically, financially and in all your endeavours.

Read: Matthew 6:33 “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to always delight myself in you to receive the blessing that comes with it. Amen

Obey the “heavenly vision”

Acts 26:19 says “Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I (Paul) was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision”

Every vision or mandate from God is worth obeying and this was exactly what the Apostle Paul did.

He stands to be credited with the words, “heavenly vision”. This he used to refer to the assignment or the purpose that God made known to him concerning his life on a journey to Damascus.

See God’s assignment to Paul as told by him in Acts 26:16,18:”… rise, and stand upon thy feet (Paul): for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; [18] To open their eyes (referring to the Gentiles and the Jews), and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

To this purpose, the apostle Paul stayed true. He was consistent in delivering on his God-ordained assignment.
To him nothing mattered any longer after knowing what God wanted him to do. He was completely sold out.

Hear his confession to the Philippians when he was faced with treats and challenges, “for to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Phillipians 1:21).

This is the exact example God wants us to live out as Christians. As a Christian you must stay true to God’s purpose for your life. You must not substitute it for anything- money, fame, personal interest and pleasures.
Although following God’s purpose will sometimes bring challenges, you must know that faithful is He that calls us, and he will help us out.

You must know that staying with God’s purpose for your life is what will cause you to prosper in this world and in the one to come.

Don’t be disobedient to what the Lord tells you to do in life. Obey your “heavenly vision ” even in the face of challenges.

Read: Isaiah 1:19 “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to obey the heavenly vision and command you give me. Amen

Force your way into the Kingdom of God.

Luke 16:16
“The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John. Since that time, the good news of the kingdom of God is being preached, and everyone is forcing their way into it”

It is important to know that there are things worth getting or fighting for in life. One of such is making your way into God’s kingdom by taking hold of the gospel.

The gospel is God’s approved route to accessing the kingdom and all that it is. Thus, until you receive and believe the gospel you will miss out on what God has for you.

Our opening text, shows the attitude that a person must have to gain access into the Kingdom. Luke 16:16 says “…since then the gospel of the kingdom of God has been and continues to be preached, and everyone tries forcefully to go into it”. Meaning that you need to be active and aggressive to take hold of the gospel for you to enter the kingdom.

You see, someone forcefully trying to occupy a space or to take a hold on something tells that, there are adversaries. Similarly, when it comes to you accessing God’s kingdom through the gospel, the presence of opposition – the devil, and the evils of the world, calls for some degree of seriousness.

You being forceful means that you are ready to ward off anything that wants to resist your flow in the kingdom.
Be zealous when it comes to making it into the kingdom. A causal approach to the things of God won’t produce any much benefit.

Read: Matthew 6:33. “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to continually and consistently force my way in to the Kingdom of God. Amen

Don’t imitate what is evil

3 John 1:11
“Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but [imitate] what is good. The one who practices good [exhibiting godly character, moral courage and personal integrity] is of God; the one who practices [or permits or tolerates] evil has not seen God [he has no personal experience with Him and does not know Him at all].”.

What you imitate or copy can either make or unmake you. As Christians, the Lord enjoins us to imitate only what is good.

In 1 Corinthians chapter 11, the bible gives the standard for what we must imitate or copy.
The verse eleven says “Imitate me, just as I imitate Christ”. Thus, anything you imitate, copy, or follow must be “Christ centered” or in sync with what the Lord prescribes in his word.

You see, just imitating everything or anything without checking whether it is in line with God’s word can ruin your life. Whether in the area of spirituality, fashion, relationship, marriage, career, money matters, etc., don’t just copy what people do.
Imitate only the good that is consistent with the Lord’s will and save yourself from any unbearable consequences.

Read: 1 Thessalonians 5:22 “Abstain from every form of evil [withdraw and keep away from it].”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace and wisdom to imitate that which is good and not evil. Amen

Don’t hold on to the tradition of men

Mark 7:8
“For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.”

Most traditions of men and God’s word does not go in the same direction. God’s word comes from Him alone and the traditions of men comes from men. There is no meeting point between God’s word and the tradition the world subscribes to.

In any case, it is carnal thinking that will make you think that the traditions of men are better than God’s word.
You see, there is no man made rule, practice, convention, norm, way of doing something or beliefs that can make our world better than God’s word.

The Jews in the times of old were caught up in the same trap. They upheld to tradition of men and not long enough they had nothing to do with God’s word. They went all out for the things that men had instituted and left God’s word.

Our generation is not different. We have become a bunch of Christians that follow the directions, traditions of men without considering the word of God.

You see, anytime you follow tradition, God’s word becomes unproductive in your life.
There are folks who remember the tradition of men than the word of God. No wonder nothing works for them although they are born again.

Instead of being consumed by tradition, be an adherent to God’s word. Never be carried away by the crowd.
Your worship and fellowship with the Lord should never be interrupted by anything.

If you are to follow anything at all, it should be something consistent with the truth revealed in the word.

Read: Psalm 119:128 “Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to separate myself from the traditions of men to hold on to your word. Amen

Make positive confessions

Hebrews 10:23
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful”.

What you confess has the power to make or unmake you. This is why positive confession is crucial.

Your duty as a christian is not to ruin and to destroy, but to establish and to make things work by the confession of your mouth.

Positive confession determines your state of rest and survival. It will determine what you can have or not have. This is because confessions are always made unto something.

Master the act of positive confession despite the circumstances you may encounter.
You see, those who want to succeed must see themselves in the light of the scriptures, and make a decision to confess what the word says about them until they see results.

Never say something about yourself when it is inconsistent with the word. Say only what the word says about you. There can be nothing more glorious to that.

Remember that wrong confession will bring you into bondage, and unnecessary troubles.

Be determined to confess what God says about you and live like that.

Read: Job 22:28 “Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace and power to make positive confessions despite all the negativities. Amen
