People, your channel to the top or bottom.

1 Samuel 18:5
“And David went out whithersoever Saul sent him, and behaved himself wisely: and Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul’s servants”

One of the important things you can get in life aside God is “people”. People here is used generically to either mean an individual or more. Many people have succeeded in life because of the people factor they handled well, whiles others too have failed because of the people factor they mishandled.

To say that your success in life is predominantly dependent on people is not a mystery. Lot needed Abraham to become wealthy, Noah’s daughters-in-law needed him to survive, Joseph needed Potiphar and Pharaoh to rise, Ruth needed Naomi, Saul needed Samuel, David needed Saul and Jonathan, Paul needed Barnabas, Timothy and Titus needed Paul, and on and on the list goes.

You see, the earlier you humbly admit your need of some persons in your life the better. It may be your mother, father, siblings, friend, or a spouse. Most people today have attained success in life because of some particular people they had in their life. This is why it is important to know and learn how to deal wisely with the people God give you access to.

Never take anything for granted when it comes to dealing wisely with people. Most often than not, many people miss this great opportunity to greatness. For instance an opportunity to serve a great man of God must not be taken lightly, an opportunity to be married by a staunch and industrious Christian must not be taken for granted, an opportunity to have a virtuous lady for a choice of marriage partner must not be taken for granted. Take it or leave it, these are major ways by which God brings most of your prayers into reality.

Your service to just one great and faithful man of God is what may open locked doors for you and your family. You being married to a serious and noble Christian is what can break any demonic cycle of marital challenges in your home. It is only ignorance and pride that make people say things like “me I DON’T need anybody”. Most people, and sadly some Christians have even been caught up in this lie. For David, he knew this truth. He received Saul as his God-sent man, and thus behaved wisely towards him.

You need somebody to make it in life. Because after your prayers, God will touch the hearts of people to bless you. The Bible says, woe is him that is alone (Ecclesiastes 4:10). Men are not God, but there are God-sent men into your life.

Your God – sent man is your somebody. John the Baptist was God-sent to Jesus (John 1:6). Jesus was also God – sent man to his disciples. Philip was the God – sent man to the Ethiopian eunuch (Acts 8:26 – 39). Your God – sent men are HEAVENLY positioned in your life to bring the best out of you and to help you fulfil destiny. They bring a divine turn around to your life.

Pay heed to the HEAVENLY truth they share with you. Keep them, cherish them and do them good. I see you making it in life with your God – sent man in Jesus name.

Read: Ecclesiastes 4:9 “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray that as you bring people my way, I will not despise them. In Jesus name, Amen!

Forget the things behind

Philippians 3:13
“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before”

The call of God draws a line between our past and our present life. The past life was characterised by sin, whiles the new life is characterised by the righteousness and holiness from our Lord.

In Ephesians 4:18, the Bible describes the old life or the past life as having one’s understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through ignorance. Not only that, it is fully governed by selfishness and carnality. On the other hand, the salvation of God which comes by grace through faith sets us apart. It makes us noble and brings us dignity.

As a Christian, to move forward in life, you must let go of the past. In fact, you must not be driven by guilt or give yourself to the old sinful life. Focus on the new life, focus on the things ahead- the plans and purpose of God for your life.

The call of God is a high calling. Whether it is a call to serve in the ministry or a call to be in Christ, you need to let go of the past and flow with the new “life”, “vision” and “plans” that the Lord brings.

Read: Philippians 3:12 “Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me”.

Prayer: Father, I pray that every history of my life is intentionally forgotten for the attainment of things ahead. In Jesus name, Amen!

Salvation in the name

Romans 10:13
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved”

Life’s troubles and challenges can be many. Sometimes most of these troubles don’t even respond to natural remedies. For instance, there are people suffering from terminal illness and doctors have given up on them, some also have financial and marital challenges that have defied logical and scientific solution. Nonetheless, all these challenges are not unsurmountable. There is a one- off solution for any problem or challenge that we face. The solution is the name of Jesus.

You see, as simple this truth sounds, it is the Word of God and works. Proverbs 18:10 says “The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe”. You can’t have the name of Jesus on your lips and be disappointed. The name will bring a miracle to you, the name will turn hopeless situations around for you. The Bible says, those who call on the name of the Lord shall be saved, delivered, healed, blessed, restored, made whole and elevated.

No matter what your case, the name has what it takes to bring a cure. In Mark 10, the Bible tells how blind Bartimæus, called on Jesus and he received his sight. Mark 10:51-52 “And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.”

Are you faced with daring situations in life? Are you gripped in the hold of sin? Do you need a miracle? Call on the name of the Lord.

Read: Philippians 2:10 “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth”.

Prayer: Father, I pray that salvation has come to my home, family, country and continent. I declare that as I preach the gospel of Jesus, souls will be won. In Jesus name, Amen!

Be of good cheer

John 16:33
“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world”

Despite the happenings and challenges of life, One of the things Christ admonishes us is to be of good cheer. In other words, never despair or be carried away into anxiety.

The word “cheer” means to shout for joy or in praise or encouragement. Other words used to describe the word cheer include, encourage, urge on, spur on, drive on, and motivate. Given this understanding of the word cheer alone is awesome. Now the Bible, says be of “good cheer”. Meaning that there is no cause of alarm no matter what you go through in life. Remember the words of Jesus “I have overcome the world”.

You see, the tribulations and trials in this life can’t undo what God can do for you and in your life. He is able to see you through the storms. Isaiah 43:2-3 says “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee”

You see, when God is with you any set back will surely become a set up for a come back. Like the declaration in Genesis 50:20, “whatever is meant for evil, will be turned into good”.

Another reason why, you must cheer up is because, when God is for you and with you, nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Read: Romans 8:32 “He who did not spare [even] His own Son, but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?” (AMP).

Prayer: Lord, I pray and come against any spirit of mood swing and depression and frustration. I live a life of pure joy and happiness. In Jesus name, Amen!

THE FATHER’S WILL

Ephesians 6:1-3
“Children, obey your parents in the Lord [that is, accept their guidance and discipline as His representatives], for this is right [for obedience teaches wisdom and self-discipline]. HONOR [esteem, value as precious] YOUR FATHER AND YOUR MOTHER [and be respectful to them]-this is the first commandment with a promise- SO THAT IT MAY BE WELL WITH YOU, AND THAT YOU MAY HAVE A LONG LIFE ON THE EARTH”

One of the highest blessings you can have is when everything goes well with you. However, for it to be well with you, it comes at the cost of obeying your parents. Like one author once wrote “The greatest blessing for sons is hidden in their obedience to their fathers”.

You see, for instance in large families, the sons or daughters who are very obedient to their parents turn out more blessed than those who are rebellious, independent and resistant. This general truth is something you will discover with time.

A story was told about a father who went to shopping with his two sons. One of them constantly had a different opinion and always wanted something different; he didn’t like what his father liked. However, the reaction of the other son was very different. He would say, “Whatever you choose for me is okay. I like what you like for me. I want what you want for me.” Most people are like the son who always had a divergent view from his father. They never yield to the will of God, nor consider the guidance they receive from their biological and spiritual fathers.

You see, if you want to be blessed, become a son who wants what his father chooses for him. Christianity is based on this principle: The principle of submitting your will to the will of your Father, the principle of accepting the Father’s will instead of your own will. Do not be self-willed.

Be subject to your Father’s will like Jesus. You see, It is safer and easier to say, “Father, into thine hands do I commit my life.” Follow Jesus; He is the best example for us all.

Read: Hebrews 10:7 “Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God”.

Prayer: Father, I pray that I will forever live to do your will. In Jesus name, Amen!

Win souls for the Lord.

Proverbs 11:30
“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise”

A common misconception among Christians is that only ministers, specifically evangelists, are called to reach out to the lost. In Ephesians 5, the Bible teaches about the purpose of the ministry gifts that Jesus has set in the Church.

Ephesians 4:12 says “His intention was the perfecting and the full equipping of the saints (His consecrated people), [that they should do] the work of ministering toward building up Christ’s body (the church)”

You see, the purpose of the five ministry gifts is to equip the saints to do the work of building the Body of Christ. When you receive from a minister who has been placed in his office by the Lord, you will become better equipped to minister yourself.

That’s why all Christians should consider themselves “full-time” ministers, for the Word declares that all that we do should be done in the name of the Lord Jesus. (Col. 3:17.) The responsibility is ours as Christians. Like the song writer puts it “a charge to keep I have “

In John 8:12, Jesus said to his disciples: “I am the light of the world.” But He also said in Matthew 5:14: “Ye are the light of the world.” We are now the light of the world because we carry His Word. It is His Word that brings light into a dark world (Ps. 119:130.) The wonderful privilege of carrying on the ministry of reconciliation has been entrusted to us.

You see, you must make the preaching of the Gospel of Christ your business. Not preaching robs this world of God’s power and salvation. Be a soul winner today and forever. Hearken to the master’s call, and save someone.

Read: 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 “And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation”.

Prayer: Father, I pray that winning souls will be part of my daily living in Christ Jesus. In Jesus name, Amen!

Have faith and don’t doubt

Matthew 21:21
“Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done”

Achieving great things in life comes by faith. The reason why many people have not come to the lime light in life is because of lack of faith or breeding doubt. For most Christians, doing great things in life or rising to the top in life whether in their finances, ministry, career or whatever they are doing is only a dream. In fact, some people don’t even bother to ponder on that because of the thoughts of doubt. Nonetheless, the word of God teaches that, faith in God- in his word makes all things possible.

You see, doubts will never make you a champion in life. It takes a heart of faith to be a hero in life. Faith will make you attempt and achieve great things in life. When Jesus spoke to the fig tree in Mathew 21:19, and what he said happened, he assured the believers that they can also do same and beyond. Matthew 21:21 Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.

Just to take people out of being overly religious to think that, the fig tree dried out because it was Jesus who spoke, the Bible made it clear from the response of Jesus that, when one has faith, he can do the same and beyond.

As a Christian, you have to put your faith to work to get things done. Don’t live with doubts. Don’t live in the realm of “what if it doesn’t work”. Engage your faith and the impossible will happen.

Read: Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him”.

Prayer: Father, I pray and cancel any form of doubt in my life. I walk in faith and believe towards the almighty God. In Jesus name, Amen!

Don’t look back

Luke 9:62
“And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God”

Serving God and working for the Lord requires focus. Anyone who accepts the call to the new life, and to also do the work of ministry must be of a single heart despite the challenges that may come.
In Luke chapter 9, Jesus thought on the principle focus or not looking back when it comes to following the Lord. When people look back in their quest to follow the Lord, it shows that their interest or passion is not fully in the Lord. It also means that, they have other things that they prefer or give priority to.

In the book of Numbers, we see this looking back syndrome amongst those who left Egypt to the promise land. The challenges they had in the wilderness made them look back to the so called “good moments they had whiles in Egypt”. In Numbers 11:5-6 some of them said “We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick: But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, beside this manna, before our eyes.”
Again in Numbers 14:4 “they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt” Their looking back, or having the past in mind never brought some of them to the promised land. They missed the greatest privilege to get into the promised land.

As Christians, we can be tempted to look back. Challenges, and “seemingly good things” of the past can make you think that, looking back and going back is rather the way forward. But refuse to be distracted.

Don’t retreat when it comes to following the Lord and serving in the ministry.

Read: Hebrews 10:39 “But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray that I will never look to former things any longer. I am moving forward and growing in the Lord In Jesus name, Amen!

Make “every effort” for peace

Hebrews 12:14
“Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord”.

Living in peace with people is a great virtue that must characterise the life of the believer. But, just like any precious thing, peace must be pursued and “worked at”.

The Bible says, “make every effort” to live in peace with people. That suggests that, you have to explore options, and take stands that can make this happen.

Living in peace with people demands some key things.
First, you must be “love ruled”. That’s to say, let the love of God in your heart dominate you. It is from this divine virtue that you can truly live in peace with people.
You need love to overlook wrongs done against you. Proverbs 10:12 says “Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins”

Second key, is wisdom. Dealing with people requires great wisdom. For instance David was able to thrive and live in peace with Saul because of wisdom. The Bible said, “David behaved wisely”.
See 1 Samuel 18:5 &15
“⁵ And David went out whithersoever Saul sent him, and behaved himself wisely: and Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul’s servants.
¹⁵ Wherefore when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of him.”

You see, you need to make effort by engaging these keys: love and wisdom.
Without it, you will always stir up trouble or bring contention wherever you find yourself.

Love will teach you to forgive, love will teach you patience, wisdom will teach you what to do when dealing with people, it will teach you who to advice and who to remain silent on. Wisdom will also teach you how to handle conflict.

You see, peace can’t just happen. We must make conscious effort to bring it, keep it and enhance it.

No one can have peace if no one decides to make peace a priority. From church relationships, ministry alliances, marriages, families, business relationships, until people decide to make every effort to keep and to promote peace, it will just be a matter of time and things will go haywire.

Don’t forget that living in peace with people is a commandment from God. Choose peace over hatred, choose peace over war and choose peace over quarrels.

Read: Matthew 5:9
“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”

Make “every effort” for peace

Prayer:
Lord make Me an instrument of Your peace
Where there is hatred let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness joy.
O Divine master grant that I may
Not so much seek to be consoled as to console
To be understood, as to understand.
To be loved. as to love

(Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi)

The battle is spiritual

2 Corinthians 10:3
“For though we walk in the flesh [as mortal men], we are not carrying on our [spiritual] warfare according to the flesh and using the weapons of man”.

Sometimes your consistent life in the “body” or in the natural can make you lose sight of the spiritual side of life. This is also because the spiritual life is not physical or material.

This facts notwithstanding, the spiritual life is real. It is even real more than the physical as it is the main determinant of the physical happenings.

As Christians, we must come to realise that or even know that, not only do we have a spiritual dimension to life but there is also a battle in this realm of life.

Ephesians 6:12 says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

You see, our arch enemy as Christians is the devil who is a spirit. Thus, we can only become effective in this battle if we engage our spiritual “arsenals”.

Knowing that there is a spiritual battle ongoing against you is vital truth that already positions you for success. Not only that, Knowing the terms and conditions of this battle will also make you come out as a VICTOR.

You see, you are not here to start any fresh fight against the devil and his cohorts and neither are you here to “kill” them. All you and I are to do in this fight is to stand fast and resist the devil based on what Jesus has already done. Jesus defeated the devil and his host.

Colossians 2:14-15 says, “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it”.

This truth is what you need to put the devil and his cohorts out of your space- family, ministry, career, finances, health and your life holistically.

You must resist the devil in your faith.1 Peter 5:8-9 says “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

This means that you need to believe God’s word, act on it and confess it daily irrespective of what the devil throws at you. By this, you cast off demonic activities off from your life.

Read: Psalm 60:12 “Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies”

Prayer: Lord, thank you for giving me victory against the devil and his cohorts. I declare your victory in my health, finances, career, marriage, country, in Jesus Name!
