THE LOVE OF GOD

1John 4:9 “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His only begotten son into the world that we might live through Him.”

God’s love is such an awesome thing that man cannot fully grasp. Many people have not come to the place to perceive and appreciate God’s love because they think of it in human terms. But you see, God’s love far outweighs any love you can see or experience from anyone.

The love of God is something that the carnal mind can’t figure out. It only takes the spirit to grasp God’s love. It is only by our recreated human spirit that we can know this love that surpasses knowledge.

The Bible in Ephesians 3:18 reveals that God’s love is high, long, wide and deep. The love of God can reach everyone irrespective of their state and status. The moment you grasp the truth about God’s love you will flow in love in your fellowship with him.

Instead of thinking that God is mad at you, think on and of his love. Many people because of not knowing the love of God walk in life discouraged and depressed. Always remember that while you were yet a sinner God loved you (Romans 5:8). God’s love towards us does not fall short because He is love. 1 John 3:1 says “see what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.”

God’s love does not condemn us in any way. His love only brings the best in us.

Walk in life and with the knowledge that God loves you. He is your comforter and ever-present help.

Read: 1 John 4:9 “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him”.

Prayer: Lord, let your love control every dealings of my life, in Jesus mighty name. Amen!

LET BROTHERLY LOVE CONTINUE

1 John 3:14 “We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death”

Love must be your walk and talk as a Christian. Walking in love is one thing that shows you have received the life of God. The epistle of Apostle John says “We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren”. No one sincerely born again will walk in envy, bitterness, jealousy and hatred.

As Christians we have a mandate to love our fellow brothers and sisters. You must deal with all persons especially those who are of the household of faith from the bowels of love and compassion. Love in the family of the born-again folks is essential and it can’t be compromised in any way.

Hebrews 13:1 says, “Let brotherly love continue”. Meaning you must let nothing break the love circuit. Love must continue! No matter what happens love must continue. As a believer love must flow from you to others. You must never on any occasion deal or treat people without love. You must deliberately walk in love every now and then.

You see, irrespective of the challenges that you will face with the brethren, you still need and must walk in love. The way of love is the way of God. Hear the Spirit from Apostle John in 1 John 4:7 “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God”.

Love forgives, bears all things, does not keep a record of wrong. Love is patient and love does not delight in evil. Love demands that you stand with a brother or a sister in times of challenges. Never let go of people because they missed it or did not live up to standard. That is not love. Help people to make it. Don’t be a critique or an accuser. Use the spirit of love to deal with everyone that God will bring your way.

Going forward, let love lead.

Read: 1 John 3:14 “We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray that the love of God inside of me will forever cause me to walk in love towards everyone, in Jesus name. Amen!

Sacrifice

Matthew 16:24-28 “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, if any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me”.

Following God and working for the Lord demands a great sacrifice. You can’t follow the Lord effectively without sacrifice as the call to be a Christian is a call to sacrifice.

Sacrifice means to give up something valued for the sake of other considerations. When you sacrifice, you sometimes abandon something, surrender your will, forgo your comfort, renounce or forfeit a privilege and the like.

You must see the need to sacrifice in your walk with the Lord. Don’t remain on the side where comfort and convenience are only what you accept. Being with the Lord and being kingdom minded calls for a great sacrifice.

Anytime I hear sacrifice I consider first and foremost the example of Jesus. He is and was God but left all the glory He had and took upon himself the nature of man just to save mankind. He also gave up his life in a gruesome and shameful way. This is nothing but sacrifice.

Beloved, come to the chambers of “sacrifice”. Be ready to sacrifice something for the course of God. Christianity is not only about comfort and convenience. It is obeying the master’s call without restraint and going all out to serve his purpose. That is why Christianity is not about “me, myself and I”. We are not called for selfishness and self-interest. These are enemies to sacrifice.

You can sacrifice irrespective of your situation; you don’t have an excuse.  Think about God who gave his only son he could have kept for himself. This is what sacrifice means. It is giving out what will cost you; time, money, energy, comfort, wisdom, life, in fact, everything.

Sacrifice now. Tomorrow might be too late.

Read: Matthew 16:24-28 “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? for the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. Verily I say unto you, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom”.

Prayer: Father, I pray that I will sacrifice for the expansion of your kingdom and your work, in Jesus mighty name. Amen!

Be content with what you have

1 Timothy 6:6 “But godliness with contentment is great gain”.

Apostle Paul in his days admonished his son Timothy to stay away from all those who held self-gain in high esteem at the expense of godliness (1 Timothy 6:5).

In as much as there is nothing wrong with having money or being wealthy, putting a premium over it against godliness will be injurious to your faith. In other words, if you make riches and wealth get you into ungodliness then all is not well.

It is an undeniable fact that many people in the pursuit of financial prosperity have thrown away every virtue that God’s word prescribes. This is nothing more than going into extremities with the “want of money”. Laying aside godly values and virtues in the pursuit of wealth will not profit in the end.

1 Timothy 6:10 says “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows”.

You see, many people have erred from the faith because they placed a lot of premium on self-gratification and material things. Unnecessary pursuit of material gain at the expense of your Christian values will get you into becoming worldly.

You don’t have to prioritize your personal gains at the expense of godliness. The bible in Matthew 6:33 says that “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”.

In your quest to be wealthy, you must not use evil schemes and methods. You see, the problem is not about the prosperity or the “cash” you want to get. God is interested in how you want to make wealth.

Love for money will wane your faith, make you unrighteous and make the love you have for God wax cold. Think about this and make the decision to embrace godliness and never sacrifice your Christian values because of money, cash or material gains.

Read: 1 Timothy 6:5-11 “Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness”.

Prayer: Father, I pray that I will be content with every blessing and level you place me in life. In Jesus mighty name, Amen!

Are you familiar with the Lord’s anointed?

Mark 6:2-3 “And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, from whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him”

The above reveals how people’s familiarity with the Lord’s anointed causes them to miss out on God’s best and his blessings. As a Christian, you must understand that God will always use a human being or a man to bless your life. God will bring your way people who will preach the gospel to you. God will bring your way people who will mentor or disciple you. God will bring your way people who will impart you in different aspect or areas of your life.

All these people have been anointed for this task. But until you look at them and deal with them as the Lord’s anointed, their ministry and anointing will not or cannot bless you that much or even not help you at all.

Deuteronomy 18:18 says “So when I want to speak to them, I will choose one of them to be a prophet like you. I will give my message to that prophet, who will tell the people exactly what I have said”. God will always use someone you know, or are related to, or a man or woman like you. The only difference is that God anoints such folks for the task he gives them.

How you deal with God’s anointed minister who may be your friend, son, husband, wife, can hinder the grace or anointing on his life from blessing you. One truth you must know is that familiarity is a condition that neutralizes the power and the grace of God. It also makes you not to believe in the supernatural power or grace on a man of God

Never get used to an anointed person in your life like the town folks of Jesus that missed it. Any time you become familiar with your Pastor, or a man of God, who is the Lord’s anointed, his ministry and gift will cease to bless you.

Remember to engage wisdom, respect, honour, and honesty when dealing with the Lord’s servants. This will prevent you from becoming familiar. Know that the ANOINTING you become FAMILIAR with, will CEASE to BLESS you.

Read: 2 Chronicles 20:20 “And they rose early in the morning and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper”.

Prayer: Father, I pray that you will deliver me from every form of familiarity towards your servants, in Jesus mighty name. Amen!

LET GOD ORDER YOUR STEPS

Psalm 37:23 “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way”

One of the wonderful things a Christian can have in life is divine direction. By divine direction, we are simply looking at God talking to you and instructing you to do something, or to take a certain course in life.

Isaiah 30:21 says “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left”. God is not interested in you living by trial and error. He wants to lead or guide your life into greatness. But it will come when you incline your ears to his voice and yield to him.

Beloved, there is nothing more beautiful and glorious compared to being guided divinely. When God orders your steps, He leads you beside still waters- a place of satisfaction without troubles. Any time God orders your steps you become the RIGHT MAN, at the RIGHT PLACE, with the RIGHT PEOPLE and at the RIGHT TIME.

Open your heart to be divinely led. Don’t allow your feelings or carnal cravings to misguide you in life.

Remember that, your life will be rocked with unending difficulties when you refuse to go with God when He orders your steps. What has God told you to do that you are still not obeying? Do something about it today because it can cost you. Divine direction is priceless no matter what you think.

Read: Romans 8:14 “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God”.

Prayer: Father, thank you for guiding me in every step I take in this life in Jesus name, Amen.

They looked unto him, and were lightened

Psalm 34:4-5 “I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed”

Looking up to the Lord in all that you go through is the sure way to have breakthroughs in life. When you learn to look up to the Lord, you always stay connected to him.

David, the Lord’s anointed tells in Psalm 34:4 how the Lord answered his prayer in times of distress when he was running away from the King Saul when he wanted to kill him.

By looking up to the Lord through earnest prayer, his fears dissipated, and his hope was reinforced. In Psalm 34:5, the Bible says “those who look to him (God) are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.”That’s to say that, when you look up to God, you will be far from shame no matter what befalls you.

Never draw back in the face of challenges, rather get deeper in your walk with God, look up to him as you pray and meditate on his word.

Read: Daniel 11:32 “And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray that as I look up to you, I will triumph in all that I do in Jesus name. Amen!

SOW BETTER THINGS IN LIFE

Galatians 6:7 “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows”

“Reaping what we sow” is an inevitable law of the earth. This makes life more like a “harvest”. This is the very reason why the Bible admonishes us to sow good seeds (things) in life. As a Christian you must decide on the kind of seeds you want to sow today because no seed sown dies without manifesting in the near future.

It will just be a matter of time and every seed sown- whether good or bad, will show up. In fact, it will be gradual, little by little but will without fail come up.

As a Christian, you have access to the Spirit of God and the word of God that will direct you as to what to do, how to do them, and thus, sow good seeds in life.

Galatians 6:8 says, “whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life”.

Don’t be led by the flesh to sow wrong seeds. People who never consider this simple rule will jeopardize their future. Remember every choice is a seed, every action is a seed whether seen by people or not, you will one day live to reap them.

Sow better things and you will be glad you did.

Read: James 3:16 “For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work”.

Prayer: Father, I pray that by the Help of the Holy Spirit, I will sow better things in this life, in Jesus mighty name. Amen!

Learn them, keep them and do them

Deuteronomy 5:1 “And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them.”

Our opening text teaches that walking with God demands learning, keeping what you learn and practicing them. This is how you can do exploits in life and please God.

The Christian life is not about a “name tag” or playing religion. It is a life lived in agreement with divine truth. In fact, it is living out the life of God in you. Nonetheless, it will take learning to know what you ought to do as a Christian. That’s learning the word, which reveals the will of God.

Not only that, but you must keep the word in your heart (Psalm 119:10-11). In other words, you must let the word dominate your being so that it’s influence will be a free flow. The word dominating your heart, brings you into practicing the word.

The truth of learning, keeping, and practicing the word must be your hallmark. Don’t be an ignorant believer. Know the word and do it. Until you give in to doing what the word says, you will be limited in life and even miss out on God’s will for your life.

Read: Matthew 11:29 “Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls”.

Prayer: Father, I pray for grace to constantly learn your word, I will keep it in my heart and practice the word, In Jesus name. Amen!

The sons of God

John 1:12-13 “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

Any Christian or born-again believer is born of God. John 1:12-13 says “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

The moment you got born again, divinity started to work in you. God’s very life is imparted into you, to bring you a new life. This life in you is superior to anything else.

Being made a son of God means that you now share in His very nature. His righteousness works in you, His holiness works in you and His love also works in you. In fact, all that God is, is also made available in you.

This is why the born-again Christian is not and should not be subjected to failure, diseases, sin and defeat.

Many Christians have lived on the lower side of life because they have never allowed this truth to settle in their heart. The word says, “As He is, so are we in this world”. See 1 John 4:17 “Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world”

Let this truth be your meditation and you will always live life on the “higher side”.

Read: John 1:12-13 “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray that I am born of God and hence I display the virtues of Christ, in Jesus name. Amen!
