Building by wisdom

Proverbs 24:3“ Through wisdom a house is built, And by understanding it is established;”

Great things happen when people avail themselves to be guided by wisdom. Any time God’s Wisdom becomes functional in your life, you automatically become a builder in life. You can build your life, career, marriage, ministry and all that concerns you.

The wisdom of God in a person’s life gives him or her the know-how to start awesome things in life. Wisdom teaches you how to apply accurately and practicallywhat you know. It also teaches you how to build and establish things. No wonder the bible calls it the principal thing that must be sought for.

Wisdom will teach you when to act and what to do at any time. Proverbs 24:3 says, “Through wisdom is a house builded; and by understanding it is established”. You see, wishes never build anything. You have to be guided by wisdom to get things done in life. You don’t only need dreams.

Anything that you want to build will only happen when you have the wisdom for that. Wisdom ensures the success of whatever you build or want to build. Proverbs 24:3 teaches that “Through wisdom is anhouse builded; and by understanding it is established”.

Today, many have experienced catastrophes in life simply because wisdom was undermined. The Bible said of Jesus that He did mighty things because of wisdom. See Mark 6:2 “ And when the sabbath was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?”Let the wisdom in God’s word guide you in your daily life.

Read: Proverbs 23:4 “Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom”.

Prayer: Father, I declare that all my doings in this world will be a display of the wisdom of God. I pray that as I walk in wisdom achievements will be my portion in Jesus name, Amen!

The sin of pride

Matthew 23:12 “And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted”

There is nothing glorious about living in pride. The sin of pride only brings shame and dishonour to all its devotees.

You see, pride will never give you any best outcome in life. Although people who are proud do so to be recognized and to be accorded some honour, they rather lose it all.

Our opening text puts it straight. “Whosoever exalts himself shall be abased…” Pride is like one lifting himself up from the ground. It’s like making yourself what you are not.

Those who live in pride forget that God is the one who can make and unmake people. It is important to know that pride can’t give you a place of honour and recognition like humility. You don’t have to live in arrogance and “self-exaltation” before you can be honoured in life. Don’t forcefully give yourself a “false standard of living” just because you want to show off.

These features of pride always rest in the heart. No wonder some say pride is something you are in your heart before it comes out. It is deep-rooted in a person’s heart and you are the only one who is privy to it.

Allow God’s word to impart you with wisdom and the grace to be humble. Constantly pray not to be proud. Deliver yourself from any behaviour leading to pride. Not only that, be ready to receive instruction and counsel which is a safeguard to keep you humble.

Before you give in to pride know that “A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit”. You see, pride will rather bring you low”

Read: Matthew 23:12 “And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted”.

Prayer: Father, I pray that I will forever walk in humility towards you, your things and everyone. I declare that any element of pride be cancelled in my life in Jesus name, Amen!

Faithfulness brings blessings

Proverbs 28:20 “A faithful man shall abound with blessings…”

Whenever you are faithful you attract God’s attention for a blessing. Proverbs 28:20 says, “a faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent” God always blesses the faithful. This is the more reason why you must be faithful to the Lord in all things.

Faithfulness demands that you remain committed to God without wavering. Faithful people never make room for excuses when it comes to doing something for God. They do their best to be consistent with the mandate of God. For instance, Joseph, the son of Jacob remained faithful to God even in the face of unfavourable circumstances. Joseph was sold by his brothers, went into slavery, falsely accused and was finally cast into prison but he never became unfaithful to the Lord. (Genesis 39:1-3).

You see, serving God or the purpose of God will sometimes stretch you. It will sometimes bring bizarre happenings to you. But you must be determined to still be faithful to the Lord. This is what faithfulness is all about. When you are faithful you start something and finish it.

Being faithful will sometimes take away your comfort and convenience for a season but it will pay off at the end of the day. Be emboldened to finish what you started.

Never remain uncommitted at any point in your life. Be faithful in all things. You have to be faithful in attending Church services, tithing, studying the word, and helping in Church. Be known for your faithfulness.

Read: Proverbs 28:20 “A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to be faithful all the days of my life. In the name of Jesus, Amen!

You have no secret when God is involved

Hebrews 4:13″Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account”

The life of the believer is an “open field” before God. He sees all that we do and knows the motive behind every action of ours. Hebrews 4:13 says “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account”.

You are not and can’t be a mystery before God. He knows you very well. Knowing this truth must make you go about your Christian life with all sincerity. Thus, you must not proclaim and profess one thing in public and do something awkward in the dark. That will be hypocrisy and insincerity before the Lord.

You see, God wants you to uphold the truth in all sincerity. Don’t deceive yourself. Be sincere in your faith. Never use your going to Church as a cover-up for any evil deed. The truth is that no man can be smarter than God. No! Very impossible. You can only deceive your pastor and your Christian brothers and sisters but not God.

Job 23:10 says “But he knows the way that I take…’. Friend, God knows the way you are taking. You can’t keep him in the dark. You can only do that to men.

Rather than covering up evil, confess your faults to another to be helped and be healed. Never be a Christian with “dead bones” in your cupboard, but rather do awesome and great things for God in secret.

Read: Luke 8:17 “For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither anything hid, that shall not be known and come abroad”.

Prayer: Father, I pray that everywhere I find myself I will demonstrate your nature in me. I pray that I will always walk in the consciousness of this truth and revelation. In Jesus name, Amen!

DON’T LABOR FOR THE WRONG THINGS

1 Timothy 6:9-12
“9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”

Folks who want to make it to the eternal kingdom of God must know what to spend their energies on. This is because you can mislead yourself into chasing after something with “temporary” reward at the expense of an eternal reward.

Jesus once said “Labor not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed” (John 6:27). There is a “meat” or a “reward” that has no eternal value. In fact, this world’s riches and wealth without God have no eternal value. This is because they can’t go beyond the grave.

It will therefore be unwise on your part to spend all your energy and time “chasing” after these uncertain riches. Many Christians don’t understand this very truth, therefore they worry and weary themselves with things that can’t add to their eternal destiny. Some are very much concerned with money and want to just do anything for it without regarding the eternal consequences associated with it.

Proverbs 23:4-5 says “Do not wear yourself out to get rich; do not trust your own cleverness. Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle”

Earthly riches are uncertain. They can leave you anytime. Rather than labouring all your lifetime for this to the neglect of God and His word, strive for the things of God. Seek God first and he will give you both riches and eternal life.

Read: 1 Timothy 6:9-16 “But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; that thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen”.

Prayer: Father, I pray that all my labour in this life will be for the right and eternal things. I declare that I will never labour for the wrong things. In Jesus name, Amen!

Walk in the spirit and don’t be carnal

Galatians 5:16“This I say then, walk in the spirit and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”

Walking or living by the Spirit is one of the best choices a believer must make. You must be determined to live a Spirit-filled and Spirit-led life. That is how you can manifest God’s glory and not yield to carnal activities.

Living by the Spirit demands that you live solely by God’s word. The believer that is governed by the word of God is simply walking in the Spirit. You see, you are not spiritual until you live “scriptural” as one preacher puts it “living a scriptural life is living a Spirit-filled life”.

Also, living in the Spirit is associated with manifesting the fruits of the recreated human spirit. Galatians 5:22-24 says “But the fruit of the spirit (born again spirit or recreated human spirit) is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” Those who are in Christ walk in the Spirit and are full of love, joy, peace, self-control,and the like.

Remember that you will always be a great blessing in the body of Christ when you walk in the Spirit. Never allow the flesh to hinder you from walking in the Spirit. Let go of “bitterness”, “hatred”, “offence”, and any pain that others might have caused you. Allow your “Spirit life” to take over so that God can use you to manifest his goodness to our world.

Read: Galatians 5:16-26 “This I say then, walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another”.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I pray that I will forever walk according to the dictates of the Holy Spirit. In the name of Jesus, Amen!

KEEP YOUR VOWS

Ecclesiastes 5:4-5″When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed. Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.”

A vow is a solemn promise to do a specific thing. As Christians, we must come to the point of faithfully keeping our vows that we make to the Lord. We make vows in marital union, we make vows to serve as leaders in the body of Christ, we make vows to sow seeds or to support the kingdom work with our finances, we make vows to live in a particular way to please God- all these vows ought to be kept.

You see, after making a vow, nothing must make you go back on your own words to do something different. Keeping your vows tells how serious you are and how serious you take God.

There are folks who make vows to the Lord just to break it after some few days and months. These people give many reasons or excuse why they can’t keep their vows again. But with God, none of these excuses matter. You must keep your vows!

You can’t make a vow to God and start doing something different. There are many Christians who have failed God in this area. Some have thrown away their vow to live a holy life, others have also thrown away their vows to sacrifice for the things of God.

You see, when things were tough and rough some people make vows and condition them to the blessings of God. But now that they are abounding in the goodness of God, they have failed to keep the vows.

Have you kept all your vows to the Lord? Have you kept all your vows you made in Church? Have you kept the vows you made to your pastor? Answer yourself.

Vows have power. You either keep them or face the consequences for not keeping them. God’s word on vows is explicit. Ecclesiastes 5:4-5 says “When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed. Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.”

Get up and pay your vows. You can’t say God should consider it as a “bad debt” or something irrecoverable.

Read: Psalm 15:4 “In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the Lord. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for the grace to always keep my vows. I declare that I will not intentionally neglect any vow I make throughout my lifetime. In Jesus name, Amen!

CONTEND FOR THE FAITH

Jude 1:3″Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people”.

People fight or contend for many things in life. Some contend for positions, properties, money, etc. But as Christians, one of the things God wants us to contend for is the faith.

Contending for the faith is fighting to preserve the faith for what it truly stands for. One thing you must know is that your faith in God is worth fighting for. It needs to be preserved until it brings you the “final reward” of stepping into the eternal home of the saints- heaven.

In this era of many anti-Christian and God debasing activities, you need to stand for and with the gospel. If you do nothing to maintain the “faith” that you carry, generations after you stand no chance of making it.

Faith in God or salvation must make you God and more eternity conscious. This faith which is an act of God’s grace must not be stretched unnecessarily. It is not cheap. Many have been deceived to take the faith as a cheap thing on the tenets of grace. Nonetheless, Grace is not cheap.

This understanding must make you stand up and contend for the faith. It is worth fighting for. Timothy was admonished to fight the good fight of faith and to lay hold on eternal life (1Timothy 6:12).

Never compromise the values and virtues that the Christian faith demands. Even though you may be odd in your stand in this era, or times we are living, still contend for the faith. God will be “proud” of you for standing for your faith.

Fight to preserve the faith, keep the Christian values alive and let posterity benefit from you.

Read: Jude 1-5 “Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called: mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied. Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not”.

Prayer: Father, I pray and declare that the faith that I have received from you will never be tempered with. I pray that no matter the circumstance of life I will forever keep the faith. In Jesus name, Amen!

Without holiness no one will see the Lord

Hebrews 12:14″ Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord”

Holiness is not a suggestion of a modern-day preacher. Holiness is a life God requires of every Christian. As Christians we have the nature to be holy. It is the seed imparted to us at salvation. This divine nature helps us to live a consecrated life, and a life that is set apart.

To live in holiness is a matter of living out the new life or new nature you received from salvation. You must put in effort to let the “holy impartation” you received at salvation manifest. Hebrews 12:14 says “Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord”.

You see, we are living in an era that when you don’t put in an effort you will simply not do the right thing. You need “great effort” to make holiness part of your life. Holiness teaches us to be separated from evil or anything that does not bring glory to God.

Hebrews 12:15-16 explains it further by saying “See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. See that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son.

People who allow bitterness and sexual immorality into their life can’t go with the holiness order of God. In fact, treating “precious things” that you receive from God carelessly also is an act of unholiness.

Don’t succumb to this “sin compromising” generation. Dare to be Holy. It is possible. It is possible to avoid bitterness, it is possible to respect the things of God, it is possible to avoid sexual immorality.

Don’t use carnal thinking and earthly assumptions to relax or reject God’s call for holiness.

Read: Hebrews 12:14 “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray that by your word you will keep me in the paths of holiness and holy living. In Jesus name, Amen!

With all kinds of prayers

Ephesians 6:18 “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel”

Prayer is a great ministry that brings great blessings. It is a divine relationship developed by communication. But until you become strategic in your prayer life, you will never make any progress in your endeavours.

You see, being strategic in your prayer life has to do with knowing the kind of prayer to make. That’s why the Bible talks about “all kinds of prayer”. Ephesians 6:18 says “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people”.

You must know the kind of prayer to make at any point in your life. This truth is easy to grasp and practice. You have to search the word for it. You must maintain an open spirit for the Holy Spirit to guide you. Many miss it in this area. They just go about praying. But you must know that the kind of prayer you employ must be the right kind before you can have results.

Don’t expect to succeed by opening the locks of your door with your car key. The fact that they are all keys doesn’t mean you can use them interchangeably. The same principle applies to prayer. Knowing the kind of prayer to make is what makes you effective in your prayer life. You must know when the situation you are faced with demands intercession, prayer of faith, a prayer of dedication and the like. This is how you can make the most out of your prayer life

Read: Ephesians 6:18 “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints”.

Prayer: Father, I pray for the wisdom to know the kind of prayer to engage in at any season of my life. In Jesus Name.
