Sin, is a killer

Ezekiel 18:20 “The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him”

Sin is nothing to toy or play with as a Christian. In fact, the coming of Christ was to destroy the power of sin and its consequences on man.  Matthew 1:21 says “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins“. Thus, to subscribe to sin after this great deliverance is not a wise thing to do.

Every Christian has been empowered to live above sin. But this legal and vital provision can only be enhanced when the Christian remains dedicated to the things of God. That’s how you can you deepen your fellowship with the Holy Spirit who will always give you the upper hand when you are faced with temptations.

You see, the fact that youare born again does not take away the influence or the deception of sin away from the world. Sin will be a force in this world so long as the devil remains. Until the end of all things has come and the  devil is casted into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:10), we all have a part to play to keep ourselves from the influence of sin.

In the other hand, being born again and continuing living in sin will never serve your interest. In fact, it is a short to destroy yourself.

The Bible says the wages of sin is death. Thus, given sin power again over your will end your glorious relationship with God soonest.

Never be under any bondage of sin. God says you have been delivered so let it be so (Galatians 5:1).

The devil wants to use the weapon of sin to destroy in this last days, but stay on top of issues.

Be a Christian who knows what he or she is about. No matter the nature or kind of sin you see approaching you, stand firm in the Lord and never let your heart be overthrow.

You have what it takes to stand in this evil world. Get acquainted with the Holy Spirit, study the word of God, hang only around Christians with a solid or reputable character, pray always and you will sail through.

You see, many folks who have been recaptured by the force of sin, broke fellowship with the Lord and entertained people living in sin around them.

Beloved, from know going forward put on your arsenal for battle. The battle to keep your conviction, the battle to stay in this world unstained by the influence of sin.

Read: Proverbs 11:3 KJV “The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.”

ARISE AND SHINE

Isaiah 60:1 “Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee”

As a child of God, you are a “star” in your own right. You are called out to shine in this world.

To shine means to be bright with reflected light. Jesus told the disciple in Matthew 5: 14 “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid”

You see, although you are called out to shine, you don’t give forth your own light. Rather you must reflect the glory of the Lord. The truth is that you can only give out the light which you receive from God. That is why you must not struggle to shine. As you abide in Christ and he in you, you shine automatically.

You shine out in life by rising above the norms and conventions of today’s world. Remember that no child of God is an average person. We are standard setters; being an example unto the world. As a Christian, you are the moral compass of your society.

Hence Apostle Paul encouraged Timothy in this regard; “Let no man despise your youth but be an example of the believers in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity“. (1 Timothy 4:12)

Therefore, you must not live anyhow. It is an undisputable fact that the world has its eyes on you because you are a Christian.

As you begin to shine, Kings and Princes will all come to your rising because you are a light that cannot be ignored. Know that your entire significance as a believer in this dark world is based on your ability to shine out God’s Glory.

Read: Isaiah 60:1-3, “Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.”

ENCOURAGE SOMEONE

Isaiah 50:4 “The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned”.

No one man can be an island. Everyone needs someone in life and that’s why you must be an encourager to someone. The Bible says “The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary…”

As individuals we have an obligation, one to another. For those, who are strong and are at an advantageous position, God wants you to use it to the benefit of other people and not to destroy them.

Isaiah 41:6 says “They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage”. There is no need to tear people down in life because you are stronger than them or have a position of power.

Life has seasons and times. Times of happiness and sorrow, times of plentiful and moments of lack. These seasons affects everyone alike, just at different times. If you find yourself in a good place today, don’t use it as an occasion to trample on others. On the contrary, capitalize on such times to encourage someone who may be down in life today.

Jesus after praying for Apostle Peter, gave him a similar mandate. “But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren”. (Luke 22:32)

You are called to be a strengthener.  Always find an opportunity to encourage someone around you, because in this chaotic world with so many depressed people around, the best you can do sometimes is to just say some good words of encouragement to someone.

Don’t be self-centered in life. Look also unto the things of others as well.

Be an encourager today!

TALK LIFE

Proverbs 18:20-21 “From the fruit of his mouth a man’s belly is filled; with the harvest from his lips he is satisfied. Life and death are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit”

The mouth they say is the most creative tool of the human body. Within it lies the Power to either create or destroy life. As a matter of fact, you can talk yourself into life or death. It is YOUR CHOICE. That’s why you need great wisdom before you talk. You need to operate with the tongue of the learned.

See Isaiah 50:4, “The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned”.  If you want to see progress in life, you must learn to talk well. Your tongue must be guided greatly.

Proverbs 18:21 says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”

You see, your tongue has the power to create your world. It might sound illogical but that’s how God in his infinite wisdom has programmed it. You can decide the direction of life: That choice is in your mouth.

John Gills Commentary explains it this way: “death and life are in the power of the tongue – of witnesses, according to the testimony they bear; of judges, according to the sentence they pass; of teachers, according to the doctrine they preach; of all men, who by their well or ill speaking, bring death or life to themselves and others. Some, by their tongues, by the too free use of them, or falsehood they utter, are the cause of death to themselves and others; and some, by their silence, or by their prudent speech and prevalent intercession, secure or obtain life for themselves and others; yea, judgment at the last day will proceed according to a man’s words, “By thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned”, (Matthew 12:37); the tongue is the instrument either of a great deal of good, or of a great deal of evil .”

You can talk yourself out from death and vice versa. But chose not to talk yourself to death. As a Christian you must not allow life’s events and happenings to keep you down, speak yourself up and live again.

Job said, “When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person”. (Job 22:29) In moments of negativities and adversities, what you say to yourself is very crucial.

Don’t talk defeat, diseases and poverty. Confess Gods word of victory, healing and prosperity. Never sink your destiny by talking yourself down in life.

Read: Job 22:29, “When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.”

OBEY YOUR PASTOR

Hebrews 13:17

“Obey your spiritual leaders, and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this with joy and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit ” (New Living Translation)

Obedience is a key factor in the life of the Christian. Take out obedience and everything will come at a standstill. As Christians, not only does God want you to obey him, but He wants you to obey the pastors (shepherds) He has given to you (Jeremiah 3:15). Therefore, your obedience to your pastor must not be a challenge for you since it is prescribed by the Lord.

The Bible says, “Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you” (Hebrews 13:17). You see, obedience to your pastor is first and foremost a command. Also, when you obey them, it is to your own benefit.

Pastors are men sent from God to bless your life by teaching you God’s word and in their mouth lies your prosperity. See God’s word on this matter :“Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.” (2 Chronicles 20:20)

Malachi 2:7 says “For the lips of a priest should preserve knowledge, and people should seek instruction from his mouth, because he is the messenger of the LORD of Hosts”.

Your pastor, as the messenger of the Lord to you must be able to instruct you in the ways of the Lord. You must also SEEK the instruction from him. These instructions must be obeyed and not negotiated or ignored as it is the way by which God will elevate you in life.

God has given this charge to pastors, and they shall give an account for their stewardship. Just as Jesus gave accounts on all his disciples. See his account on the souls God gave him,  “While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled”. (John 17:12)

What account would and can your pastor give on you? How seriously do you obey all that he teaches you? Do you stay in church doing the will of God that he tells you or you are “running your own show”? Your answers will determine if you are a son of perdition or not.

Don’t be a free electron in Church. Be noted as a hard follower of the Lord, and the pure word of God you are taught.

Read: Hebrews 13:17 “Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you”

POSITION YOURSELF FOR A BLESSING

Deuteronomy 30:16
“For I am commanding you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, statutes, and ordinances, so that you may live and increase, and the LORD your God may bless you in the land that you are entering to possess”

Every child of God has a certain degree of blessing. One may call it a measure of blessing. But that is not all there is in the Christendom. There are levels of blessings or different kinds of blessings. These higher levels of blessings are actually “provoked”. That means, it is a “resultant” blessing.

Thus, until you do somethings or behave in a certain way in your dealings with God, you can’t attain or have some tremendous degree of blessings.

In securing the favour of God to be blessed greatly in your life as a Christian, you must make obedience your hallmark. Although, many downplay of this simple attribute, it is the key to walking in greater dimensions of blessings. In his hymn, Trust and Obey, John H. Sammis (1887) wrote “when we walk with the Lord in obedience to his word, He sheds glory on our way” .
Deuteronomy 30:16 also says “For I am commanding you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, statutes, and ordinances, so that you may live and increase, and the LORD your God may bless you in the land that you are entering to possess.

Another way by which you can distinguished yourself from all others when it comes to being blessed incredibly is when you can sacrifice for the things of God. Most people don’t break the roof or ceiling when it comes to being blessed financially or in terms of their health. They barley get along. But you can by sacrifice make yourself secure a financial blessing or a great divine security when it comes to being blessed by the Lord.

In Philippians 3:7-8, the Apostle Paul recounts the sacrifice made for the course of Christ, “But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ”. This price didn’t go unrewarded. He was blessed with such wisdom and insight that many in his days didn’t have. God preserved his life in many trials beyond human imagination. For instance, how can one survive the sting of a venom viper if not for divine protection (Acts 28:1-6). But all these came because of the sacrifice he made for the course of God.

Another way to secure an uncommon blessing is by associating with the godly. The Bible says: “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.” (Psalm 1:1) We see from the above scripture three ways by which you can position yourself to blessed.

Not walking in ungodly counsels, avoiding the “way of the sinners” and the “seat of the scornful will position you to access greater blessings. You see, no one just gets blessed. Some blessings come by a certain level of consecration to the Lord.
Beloved, position yourself well to prosper in life.

Read: Psalms 1:1, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.”

WAIT ON THE LORD

Romans 8:25 “But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it”

Waiting plays a significant role in our hope towards God. Your ability to wait patiently on God in dire seasons of life shows great hope. Unfortunately, many believers are not patient enough to wait.

Bible says “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31). You see anytime you wait on God your strength is renewed.

Waiting period doesn’t mean a period of inactivity, on the contrary, waiting demands that you engage in a lot of spiritual activities. During this period, one may engage in fasting, praying, meditation on God’s word and worshiping the Lord. Waiting on the Lord differs from solitude which also has its place in your walk with God.

Thus, waiting on the Lord is activity based. It is not a wait in vacuum or a wait doing nothing. Most Christians have misapplied what it means to wait on the Lord and consequently have no results from it. You see, just as in the natural when a sower puts a seed in the ground, in waiting for it to germinate he applies manure, water the soil, and gives adequate sunlight to the seed sown, the same principle applies to the spiritual waiting.

Don’t say you are waiting on the Lord when you are doing nothing. Similarly, as a believer, your waiting period must be full of spiritual exercise. You must keep on praising the Lord, you must worship and keep a positive confession, knowing that in the right time God will show up.

You see, anyone who properly waits on the Lord, sees his marvelous power at work. You will get guidance, direction, insight, revelation, empowerment and above all peace of mind when you wait on the lord.

Don’t lose your hope while waiting. Waiting period is a period of renewal. It builds in you the tenacity and strength. Don’t quickly exit the doors of waiting on the Lord.

Read: Isaiah 64:4, “Isaiah 64:4  For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.”

GOD IS WILLING AND ABLE.

Ephesians 3:20 “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us”.

God has never ceased to prove to humanity how willing He is to provide for us. He is not only willing but able to also do whatever we may ask of him according to his will.

You see, people may have the wish to help you at one point in your life, but they may not have what it takes to deliver. The lack of ability on their part renders every good intention fruitless.

This is not so with God. He has what it takes to deliver on any mandate. From your redemption to your glorification. God is able in all respect. No wonder prophet Jeremiah said “Oh, Lord GOD! You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too difficult for You!” (Jeremiah 32:17)

Just think about it, if God didn’t spare his only son but willingly gave him up for us, can he not give us the healing, prosperity and any other thing we may need?  “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:32).

Beloved, it is God you need to have all your needs met. He is more than able, and he is more than willing. Look at how Jesus responded to a man who questioned his willingness. “And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed (Matthew 8:2-3).

Today take courage in this truth: God is ever Willing and Capable to handle your situation. He will always hasten to perform.

Read: Jeremiah 32:27, “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?”

He makes all things beautiful in his time

Ecclesiastes 3:11 “He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end”

God works in times and seasons. When the time and season that He allocates for something arrives, nothing can stop it.

Prior to our salvation, sin and sickness dominated humanity. It seems we were helpless day in and day out. But that was not the case at all. It was just a matter of time. Divine timings had not yet set in. nonetheless, the time came for our emancipation.

The Bible says, “But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship” (Galatians 4:4-5). This birthed the liberation of man.

That’s to reveal that the “times and seasons” God has set makes all the difference in this life. So as a Christian, knowing the timings of God will make you calm and confident in the face of challenges.

Just as God plans and programs the “set time” for the happenings in life, the same applies to every aspect of your life. Your responsibility is to know God’s set time, align yourself with it through preparation and prayer and nothing shall take you by surprise. That is when you can see and receive the beautiful things God does.

If you don’t understand the operation of times and seasons you will end up with a wrong judgment.

Never look at today’s happenings in your life and conclude wrongly. For instance, in the natural you can’t compare seed sowing time to harvest time. They are two different seasons with different manifestations and demands.

Always know that you are at a particular time and season of your life. But all you got to know is that when it is your season, I mean your set time and you are not taken unawares, glorious things shall be said of you.  God has promised to hasten the happenings in your season.  See Isaiah 60:22

“A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I THE LORD WILL HASTEN IT IN HIS TIME”.

Read: Psalms 102:13, “Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.”

PROSPER AND BE IN HEALTH

3 John 2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth

Your health and total well being as a believer is of great concern to God. He doesn’t only wish for you to prosper, but to also live a sickness-free life.

That is why He says: “I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health”. The priority God gave to the health of his people was revealed in the ministry of Jesus. The Bible says “He (Jesus) went about doing good and healing all that was oppressed by the devil” (Acts 10:38).

In Mathew 8:17 the bible says “That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses”.

You see, God wants you to be in divine health where you are freed from any form of bodily ailment and oppression. This is what God desires for you, to live everyday of your life without any fear for sickness and disease. Never for one moment accept that sicknesses are from God. Sin and sickness have one author, the devil. These are products of the devil to destroy your prosperity and comfort.

To be relevant in life and the work of God, your prosperity must be coupled with divine health. As a matter of fact, prosperity without health equals lack. Sickness has the tendency to destroy and eat up whatever wealth you amass if not checked. Therefore, you must strive to live in divine health always.

You will live in divine health as you dwell daily in God’s word by faith. Bible says; “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed”.(Isaiah 53:5) This is your portion as a child of God. Confess and live in this truth always.

Read: Isaiah 33:24 “And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity.”
