DON’T GIVE IN TO SICKNESS

Isaiah 33:24 “No one in Zion will say, “I’m sick.”Best of all, they’ll all live guilt-free” (MSG).

As a Christian God wants you to be in health and be healed from any form of infirmity. 3 John 2 says “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth”. You see, being a born again Christian sets your life on a different path, spiritually and physically.

Thus, the old man, your frailties and any form of weakness is defeated in the new the life. 2 Corinthians 5:17 declares “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new”.  Anything associated with the life of sin, sickness, decease and infirmities have passed away.

As a new creation, the Spirit of God now dwells in you. The Spirit quickens and gives life to your mortal body (Romans 8:11). This means that as a Christian you can reject and refuse the power of sickness which is of the devil by truly yielding to the Spirit.

Always know that divine health is your birthright. If sickness tries to force itself on you physically, you say “I refuse to accommodate any pain and sickness in the name of Jesus”.

READ: 1 Peter 2:24 “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed”.

RUN YOUR OWN RACE

Hebrews 12:1-3
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds”.

In life you must learn to run your own race and to be the best of you. The bible talks about the “race” that is set before you.

You see whether you like it or not you have your own race to run. The race that is set before you may not be the same race that is set before another friend. Yes, we are all in a race but it’s unique with everyone. The understanding of this truth will make you focus and to avoid unhealthy rivalry or competition with others. Inasmuch as you can learn from someone in a race doesn’t mean you must go off track.

You are in a race and God wants you to complete it. He wants you to do your best. Never allow yourself to be discouraged when it seems like other people are making progress than you are. You see, the fact that someone is succeeding doesn’t mean you are failing.
To some their race is a 100-meter distance, others a 200-meter distance and some a 400-meter race, etc. The type of race people are involved in will determine what rules apply and when they will finish. That’s why you must never measure people’s success with yours.

Run your race in a way that when all is said and done you will fulfill God’s plan for your life and win the prize He has designed for you.

READ: 1 Corinthians 9:24-26 “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:”

YOU ARE GOD’S AMBASSADOR

2 Corinthians 5:20 “Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God”.

An ambassador is an important official who works in a foreign country representing his or her own country there. The ambassador by virtue of his assignment benefits from resources from his home country. Thus his accommodation, clothing, equipment, money, etc. are provided for.

Now the word of God describes us as “ambassadors”. As Christians, we are diplomats from heaven, citizens of the beloved country Zion.

Philippians 3:20 says “For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:” As an ambassador, you are expected to represent Christ by preaching the message of the kingdom of God and to bring people to the truth by your life. Again, as an ambassador you are open to enjoy all the wonderful privileges of your heavenly kingdom. That’s to mean that by virtue of your position your life must be characterized by dignity and integrity.

You must learn not to succumb to the trends and happenings of the world. Ambassadors see the homeland as their source or connection to the homeland for their livelihood. Your story and my story should be same.

As God’s representation, depend on God, rely fully on Him and propagate His message in this world. Never give in to anything that will bring your status as an ambassador into disrepute.

READ: John 17:14-16 “I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world”.

THERE IS POWER IN YOUR HANDS

Mark 16:18 “They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover”.

Your hands as a believer is not ordinary. The bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:15 “our bodies are members of Christ…”. Thus, when you look at your hands you are looking at the hands of God because He works in you and through you with your physical body to manifest His power.

You see, God is a Spirit and He has given the earth to men. He doesn’t function on earth without us. For instance, when God wanted to deliver the children of Israel from Pharaoh in Egypt, He had to do it through Moses.

Exodus 32:11 says, “And Moses besought the Lord his God, and said, Lord, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?”

Again in Exodus 14:16 the bible says, “But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea”, all these was God working through the hands of Moses.

Acts 5:12 says, “And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch”.

You see, by your hands, you can transfer the power of God (Acts 19:6). By your hands, God can make special miracles (Acts 19:11). By your hands, there can be an impartation of wisdom (Deuteronomy 34:9).  By your hands the sick can be healed (Mark 16:18).

Go through life with this consciousness that there is power in your hands. And know that you can direct the power of God through your hands over any situation you want to change in life.

READ: Acts 12:11 “And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews”.

PUT AWAY BITTERNESS AND MALICE

Ephesians 4:31-32 “Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you”.

Bitterness and malice are the offsprings of unforgiveness. Bitterness according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary is a deep seated ill-will and malice is the intention to do something wrong to someone to cause pain. This shows that when you don’t forgive it makes you open the door to engage in other sins.

As mentioned above, there are folks who say I will never forgive “so and so” for what he or she did to me. Others add different styles to it and say! “I have forgiven him for what he did to me but I don’t think I can ever forget it”. Well, as a child of God you should act like your heavenly father, who forgives sincerely. Hebrews 10:17says “And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more”.

You see, God never keeps the evil we do against Him to deal with us in return. No wonder the psalmist says “If the Lord shall mark iniquity who shall stand” (Psalm 130:3). Bitterness and malice will take the shine out of your life.

Anytime someone becomes bitter, he or she withdraws from people. Such folks criticize destructively, they revenge, they read meanings to things unfairly and they become hypersensitive. All these makes it difficult for the person to flow with the spirit of God.

Paul in 1 Corinthians 14:20 said “Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men”. Babies don’t know how to be bitter and keep malice. They are too innocent for that. They don’t have enough sense to regard wrong done to them. That’s what the Spirit of God says that in malice be as babies.

You don’t have to regard the wrong done to you by others to the extent that you become bitter. Don’t forget that harboring bitterness or malice in your heart will short-circuit the power of God in your life. This is what opens the doors for demons and the influence of satan over and into your life. Who offended? Who wronged you? Forgive, forget and move on. Don’t do yourself a great harm with bitterness and malice.

One author said “to forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you”. Beloved in Christ let us love. You don’t gain by holding on to unforgiveness.

READ: Colossians 2:8 “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ”.

YOU CAN MAKE GODLY DECISIONS

Joel 3:14 “Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision”.

One cardinal thing about life is “choices or decisions”. No one is exempted from this mandate. I have always said “living is choosing”. Thus, whether you like it or not you will and must make decisions in life. In fact, not deciding to decide is also by itself a decision or a choice

You see, where you are today is as a result of decisions you made yesterday. Whether about your education, career, relationship and marriage, kind of friends you keep, the cloths you wear, how you carry yourself about, these are all products of choices or decisions.

As a Christian your ability to discipline yourself and make the right choices in life at all times is what sets you on the path of greatness and success. Whether your life will go up or come down has more to do with the choices you make.

You see, making right choices and decisions does not happen automatically. You must deliberately and consciously decide to make the decisions. Although the world’s systems might try to dictate the things to do and the decisions to make, you must refuse to succumb.

Stick by the principles of the word of the Lord, anytime you find yourself in the “valley of decisions”. Remember the instruction in Proverbs 14:12 says, “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death” and Romans 12:2 says “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable and perfect will of God”.

You don’t have to wait to learn by a mistake or tragedy before you make the right decisions in life. Yield yourself to the leadings of God and His word, find godly counsel and you will be enlightened to make the right and godly decisions in life.

Don’t get it at all cost

Mark 8:36 “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”

It is always important to count the cost associated with whatever you want to get in life. This is because the cost associated with somethings in life is very much on the high side.

Jesus taught on the cost that comes with trying to gain the whole world without considering God. He made it clear that you can get the world (riches, wealth, honour, power, etc), but without God, this will be at the expense of your soul. In other words, losing your soul to hell is the price you will pay for pursuing these personal pressures of life.

This is to tell you that, you don’t have to get something at all cost. Although God has promised us glorious things. They are embedded in times and seasons.

Don’t for the sake of money, throw away your conscience and Christian values. That’s too much price to pay for something that has no eternal value.

Remember, don’t go for anything at all cost, if it will shipwreck your faith in God or hurt your Christian values.

Strip off every unnecessary weight

Hebrews 12:1“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who by faith have testified to the truth of God’s absolute faithfulness], stripping off every unnecessary weight and the sin which so easily and cleverly entangles us, let us run with endurance and active persistence the race that is set before us”

The Bible describes the Christian life as a race that we must run and complete. Nonetheless, success in your race is determined by your ability to be “weight free”.

Every weight you carry in a race reduces your speed and finally affects your chances of doing well. Hebrews 12:1 says:”… let us lay aside every weight and sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us “.

Laying aside weights, must be a conscious effort. You must know what really slows you down in your Christian race, and you must know the sin that just won’t let go or gets you off track. That is how to get yourself ready to lay aside every unnecessary burden.

Your race is time bound, and any delay may cost you dearly. Let nothing distract you, rather keep your gaze on Jesus and finish your race.

Read: James 1:12 “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.”

Be diligent in your business

Proverbs 22:29 “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men”

Being diligent in your endeavours is what will open the door of opportunities for you in life. The bible says that “until you become diligent in your business or what you do, you will not stand before kings”. Although standing in the place of recognition or significance is the desire of many, it will only be given to people who are diligent or those who excel in their work.

Diligence is paying proper attention to a task, or giving the degree of care required in a particular situation.  It can also be defined as the exercise of carefulness, persistence and determination in any endeavour to achieve a determined goal. This is one quality that makes a person excel in life.

You see, not only will diligence bring you before great people, it will also give you results in life. Diligence is that quality that will make you overcome mediocrity, disorderliness and mismanagement. The truth is that, whether in ministry, pursuit of career, marriage or in handling your finances, if you are not diligent you will never do well.

Always be diligent in all your affairs and the Lord will bring you before great people.

Read: Romans 12:11 “never lagging behind in diligence; aglow in the Spirit, enthusiastically serving the Lord”

You need to be patient

Hebrews 10:36 “For ye have need of patience, that after ye have done the will of God, ye may receive the promise”

Walking with God most often than not requires great patience. It sometimes involves waiting, doing one thing for a period of time, and even learning all over again before you continue with an assignment.

Patience is a virtue that makes you tolerant and never anxious or troubled in the face of adversities. Your patience level tells how you trust God and are ready to follow his will.

As a Christian there will be moments when your faith will be tested. But when you are patient, your faith will prevail. There are folks who have missed it and some are still missing it because they don’t exercise patience.

Although God wants you to prosper, you must have the patience for that. The same principle applies to having a great ministry, good marriage, and any gift from God.

You see, if you throw away patience you will miss the best God has for you. You need great patience to come into your “promised land” like the Israelites.

Read: Hebrews 10:36 “For you have need of patient endurance [to bear up under difficult circumstances without compromising], so that when you have carried out the will of God, you may receive and enjoy to the full what is promised”  (AMP)
