He that wins soul is wise.

Proverbs 11:30 “The fruit of the [consistently] righteous is a tree of life, And he who is wise captures and wins souls [for God-he gathers them for eternity].” (AMP)

Soul winning is the greatest responsibility of the believer. Winning souls is a sign of wisdom in the believer. In Mathew 28:19, the Bible says “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”. Mark 16:15 also says “And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature”. You see, every Christian has a duty making disciples or preaching the gospel to the unsaved.

In fulfilling this mandate, you must never hesitate to share the Gospel to the lost or be ashamed of it either. The Gospel is the power of God that brings salvation. You must be unashamed in sharing the gospel like the Apostle Paul who said “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Gentiles ” (Romans 1:16).

You see, what this messy world needs is the Gospel. This sin and devil ruled world needs the word of God that saves, heals, restores and gives people an eternal resting place.

Just as Jesus went about this mandate relentlessly and denials, betrayals, ungratefulness from people did not deter him from his course. You must do same as Christian.

Beloved, don’t have the message that can save a lot of people and still sit down like there is nothing at stake. As you read this message, multitudes are descending to hell because they have died without knowing the Lord. Others are making serious mistakes that can cause them to loose Heaven. Be a soul winner today and forever. Hearken to the master’s call, and save someone.

Read: Mark 16:15 “ And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

God has a plan for you.

Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you [and approved of you as My chosen instrument], And before you were born I consecrated you [to Myself as My own]; I have appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” (AMP)

No one is a mistake or a biological error. You see, you are a product of God. There was a divine plan on you before you arrived on earth. We see in Jeremiah 29:11 that “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end”.

You must understand that, God had an agenda and a plan for your life before you were born. Thus, your success in life depends on your knowledge of this plan and following it.

The Bible talks of Jesus the Savior of the world, the son of God and how he sort for the plan of God for his life and to fulfill it. “Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God“. (Hebrews 10:7). The truth is that, if even the son of God had to follow God’s plan to succeed, then you can’t make it in life outside God’s plan.

Knowing the plan of God for your life and following it brings success because God only provides for the plans and vision he gives you and not the ones you heap on yourself.

You see, if you want to succeed in life, follow God’s plan for your life and not what the world is propagating. This is because, when your plan is from God, it brings you to a successful end.

Solomon in his wisdom said “I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him” (Ecclesiastes 3:14).

You must learn to subject your plans and visions to that of God. Yours might be good but God who is all-knowing has the best of all plans.

It is time to stop resisting the plans of God for your life and embrace it wholeheartedly irrespective of the challenges it may come with. From today, endeavor to yield to God’s plan for your life.

Know the will of God

Colossians 1:9 “For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, *do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will* in all wisdom and spiritual understanding”.

The will of God is paramount in our lives as believers. But you can’t do the will of God without knowing what His will is. Knowing the will of God is what will make you command exploits in life since you will always have His backings in all that you do.

In our opening text, the Apostle Paul talked about how he and his team prayed for the believers at Colosse that they might be filled with the will of God. As a Christian, this must be your ultimate desire that you will know the will of God.

You must give yourself to prayer to align your thought, heart and mind to the will of God. To subscribe to the will of God, your flesh and your personal desires must be fully subjected to the Lord’s leadings. This is how the will of God in your spirit can be lived out.

You see, it takes the will of God to live a life pleasing to him. When you are in God’s will, or living by God’s will you walk worthy of his call for your life. The Bible again teaches that, being in God’s will, leads to fruitfulness ( Colossians 1:9-10).

Be eager to know God’s will. Pray for it, search God’s word on that, and open your heart to be led by his Spirit.

Read: Hebrews 10:7, “Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God”

Be anxious for nothing

Philippians 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God”

Being anxious in life is a sin. Just as lying, stealing, fornicating or any other form of unrighteousness. Most Christians have less considered it as a sin. But so long as the Bible says, don’t be anxious, doing it makes it wrong.

Being anxious never produces any results. Anxiety will rather worsen an already bad situation. It will make you also feed your heart with doubt.

As a Christian, God does not want you to respond to the challenging moments of your life by being anxious. God wants you to pray, and to make your requests known to him. That’s to say that, trusting in the Lord is the sure antidote to becoming anxious in life.

You see, folks who remain in anxiety forfeit grace and the goodness that may be credited to them.

Never channel your energy wrongly. Focus on what God can do rather than to be worried.

Remember, God is able to help you at every cross road of your life

Read: Matthew 6:25,27 NIV, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes. Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”

Don’t argue

Philippians 2:14-15 “Do everything without grumbling or arguing,so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky”.

Walking with God demands a very unique attitude. You need to approach God and his word with a receptive heart.

You see, walking with God requires that you do things his way, and no other way. Not only that, it demands that you accept his will and plans for your life without any arguments or murmuring.

The preceding verses in Philippians Chapter 2, talks about obedience to God’s word by following Jesus’s example in life. This charge was not to be argued or murmured about.

As Christians, any instruction, command or teachings that comes to us from the word of God must be accepted and applied, and not to be argued down.

You see, people have learnt the wrong way to live as Christians. Instead of accepting the truth preached and taught from the word they argue against it. They argue with the pastor, teacher or whoever is bringing the truth.

Remember that, the truth you argue against and vehemently reject can’t settle in your heart. Many have ruined their lives with this attitude. Do what the word says. Even if your emotions don’t want it, never succumb to your flesh, to speak against the word.

Read: Acts 24:12-13, “My accusers did not find me arguing with anyone at the temple, or stirring up a crowd in the synagogues or anywhere else in the city. And they cannot prove to you the charges they are now making against me.”

Unsupervised obedience

Philippians 2:12 “Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling”

Obedience simply means compliance with an order, instruction, request, or law. It also means submission to another’s authority or will.

When it comes to obedience, you can obey easily when the person to whom you must submit is around or has a direct supervisory role over you. Instances where you must obey an order or instruction of someone who is not physically present or directly going to oversee you is when your obedience is really tested.

Most people may pass the first test of obedience where they must obey an instruction from a leader, master, or a supervisor who is physically present. The second situation may be a challenge where only few can pass. Nonetheless, the Bible is admonishing us to be obedient in all situations.

You see, you must not wait for the person to whom you must obey to be present before you do that. That may equally be eye service. Nurture yourself beyond this level of attitude.

As a Christian, you must be disciplined enough, responsible enough, and wise enough to take heed to instruction, orders, and commands irrespective of presence of your instructor.

For instance, you don’t need your pastor to mount a surveillance on you before you live right or neither do you need your parents to monitor your going out and your coming in before you do what is right.

Learn to be obedient. Irrespective of what the situation may be like. That’s how to make progress in your endeavors.

Read: John 14:24, “Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.”

Do nothing out of selfish ambition

Philippians 2:3 “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves”

Life is full of activities. We will keep doing either one thing or the other throughout our life time. Nonetheless, in the pursuit of our dreams and plans, one caution remains- “No Selfishness”. In other words, you shouldn’t do anything with selfishness or never be driven by it.

You see, although man may not see, the motive or reason, why you get involved in something or why you do what you do, it is never a mystery to God.

Selfishness will make you inconsiderate and insensitive to people around you. It will make you focus on what will only benefit you without considering the ill impacts it will have on others.

Instead of being motivated by selfishness, be motivated by love, and goodwill to do things in life.

Read: 1 Corinthians 10:24 “No one should seek their own good, but the good of others”

The same love

Philippians 2:2 “Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind”

Every child of God is expected to walk in love. This is God’s commandment to us in the new life. James calls this commandment to walk in love “the royal law”. James 2:8 says “If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well”

When it comes to walking in love, the standard and the practice of it is non-negotiable. God wants every born again Christian to walk in love without any reservation. Thus, we must have the same love towards one another. In John, Jesus admonished the disciples to follow his example in love. John 15:12 says “This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you”.

You see, Jesus wants you to love just like him. Having the same love like Jesus means that, his love life must be revealed in your life each and everyday. Thus, like Jesus, you must forgive those who wrong you, give to those in need, and preach the gospel to the unsaved.

Remember that to the Christian, living is walking in love. No one has the excuse not to walk in love.

Read: Ephesians 5:2 “And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savour”

Like -minded

Philippians 2:2 “Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind”

To be like-minded has to do with having the same or similar mind with someone. This will include values, beliefs, principles, likes, dislikes, passion, commitments, and etc.

As Christians, God expects us to be like-minded. We must try as much as possible to have the same mind. This will enhance the unity and the commitment to any given task by the Lord.

In Philippians 2, the Apostle Paul lamented the absence of like-minded people in his team. Philippians 2:20-21 says “For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state. [21] For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.”

You see, as you study God’s word and give yourself to divine instruction and training, it must create a certain mind-set in you. You must have a mind-set not to become worldly, a mind-set to serve God in all situations, a mind-set to work for the Lord, and many more. This transformed mind is what can make you like-minded with other believers.

Don’t be a Christian and hold a worldly or carnal mind about life. Don’t be a Christian and hold a derogatory view about working for God. You must have the same mind of Christ. You must be like-minded with Jesus. In other words, when your purpose and pursuits align to that of the Lord this will be translated into like-mindedness amongst believers.

Don’t be a strange person in the body of Christ.

Read: Philippians 2:5, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus”

Honour your father

Ephesians 6:2-3 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

Honouring fathers is a commandment. Therefore we can’t threat that as a suggestion to decide whether to do it or not. The commandment to honour fathers is a unique thing in that, it is the first commandment with a promise: long life

When we are talking about fathers, one can have a relay of fathers, a relay of fathers means you will have people in your life who will complement the work of your biological father

You see, Inasmuch as every individual will have one biological father, God also allows other people into your life that will help you grow holistically,  that is spirit, soul and body.

One of the fathers God will bring your way is a father in Christ. This is the one that God will use to bring you to the knowledge of his son. In order words this is the one that will bring you into the saving knowledge of Jesus. In 1 Corinthians 4:15, the Apostle Paul made known to the Corinthians that he has become a father in Christ to them because he has brought them to the saving knowledge of Christ.

Aside a father in Christ, God will also give you a spiritual father, or someone who will train you in the things of God. These include instructions on bible study, prayer and fasting, living the new life.

All such fathers ought to be honoured. You see, irrespective of how you will see it, their work is to train you to become the person that God wants you to be.

In honouring fathers, you respect them, obey them, serve them, never speak lightly of them and give to them.

Remember the promise attached to honouring fathers and submit to their instructions.

Read Proverbs 15:5,“A fool despiseth his father’s instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.”
