Speak the word

Matthew 8:8: “The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed”

Anytime you speak God’s word or confess the word out of faith, it brings awesome results. The Bible tells how Jesus was called upon by a Roman centurion to help his sick servant. But when Jesus accepted the call to go to the home of the centurion to heal the servant, the centurion demanded that He only “Speak the word” and that the servant will recover by that.

See Matthew 8:8: “The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed“. In reply to the request of “speak the word” Jesus said unto the centurion, “Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee”. The Bible tells that the servant was healed in the self-same hour.

You see, You cannot undermine the power of the word. It has what it takes to turn negative situations around and bring into existence whatever you proclaim. The word of God on the lips of the believer is a change agent. It solves every issue of man.

As simple as you will see it, Gods word can chart the course of your life. You can speak the word of God to every situation you encounter in life. You can speak the word into your spiritual life, you can speak the word into your education, you can speak the word into your finances, you can speak the word into your marriage. Nothing is beyond reach whenever you release the word of God.

Instead of crying, complaining or murmuring about the issues of life, Speak the word. Believe that the word can do what it says. Believe the healing the word talks about, believe the prosperity, believe the deliverance and you will always live in triumph.

Read: Psalm 107:20, “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”

Don’t forget to prepare for the Coming of the Lord.

Hebrews 10:37 “For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry”

One of the most important things to prepare for in life is the coming of the Lord. The coming of Jesus is one of the final and important events that the world will encounter. In fact, as sure as the night follows the day, that is how certain the coming of Jesus is. Christ coming is sure and very certain, and you ought to prepare for it. The Bible says “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God…”.

In another place it says, “For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry” (Hebrews 10:37). Don’t be deceived at all on the coming of Christ. In fact, it is so close than you can ever think of.

You must always live with eternity in mind. That is the only way you can be sure of your preparation. The Bible talks about the days of Noah that before the flood, “People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage then the flood came and destroyed them all”. The people in Noah’s days forgot about the crucial moment they were living in and had no sense of urgency.

You see, many will not make it on the day of rapture for lack of preparation, but STAY ALERT. Every now and then, the clock is moving towards its final end for eternity to set in for those who are prepared. As you read this message, how prepared are you for the coming of the Lord. Are you living out your purpose, or you following after the fleeting fantasies of this world that will soon come to a sad end.

Be careful how you live your life. Don’t prepare for work alone, don’t prepare for your marriage alone, don’t prepare for financial prosperity alone, and don’t prepare for your education alone.

In this last days, take your faith in the Lord serious and never cast away your faith which has a great recompense. Never let the system or the worldly pleasures rob you of the glories and the beauty of God’s eternal kingdom.

Remember that, anyone who refuses to prepare for the coming of Jesus or eternity will end up in misery.

Read :1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 “For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven with a shout of command, with the voice of the archangel and with the [blast of the] trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain [on the earth] will simultaneously be caught up (raptured) together with them [the resurrected ones] in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord! Reign in life

Romans 5:17 “For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.”

The place of the Child of God in this world is not a mean place. Ephesians 2:6 says “And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus”. As a Christian, you have a place of honour in life. It came by the finished work of Christ on the cross. This is why you can’t go through life, with your heads down. But until you engage the word to reign, your dignity from the accomplished work of Jesus will be toyed with.

God has strategically positioned you in life to reign. The Bible says we live in Him, move in Him and are also made complete in him. The Bible also says we are to reign in life. Meaning you got to be in charge. You must reign here on earth and not in heaven. Revelation 5:10 says “And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth”.

You are not to be a failure and you must never be a victim of circumstances. No! God has put you in charge. He wants you to exercise your faith and reign.

You see, sin, sickness and failure must be a thing of the past. The Bible says in Isaiah 53:5 that “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed“. Again the Bible says sin must not have dominion over you. (Romans 6:14).

Meaning that, you have what it takes to make your life glorious and great. Reign like a king. Make decrees by the word of God and your life will move from glory to glory.

Read: Ecclesiastes 8:4 “Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?”

The word brings strength and health

Psalm 119:107 “I am afflicted very much: quicken me, O Lord , according unto thy word”.

God’s word is the greatest antidote for anything that wants to afflict your body. Just as God wants you well spiritually, He is also concerned about your well-being physically making His care for your life total- spirit, soul and body.

The Bible teaches that, God’s word is a remedy to any bodily ailment. Thus, with the body, you can put it into order and cause any organ, tissue or cell that’s not responding properly to function effectively.

You see, God’s word is not just grammar or mere words put together. It is spirit, and it is life. John  6:63 also says “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” This makes God’s word a quickening agent. It brings life and revitalization to every dead situation.

The word is so powerful that, it causes sick people to receive strength and healing. Not only that miracles happen at the proclamation of the word. The truth is that God’s word turns things around for good. The word is a genuine source of power. The Bible says the word brings results whenever it is deployed.

See Isaiah 55:10-11: “For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it”

Be addicted to studying the word. Engage it’s principles in your daily walk and you will prosper in all that you do.

Anytime you see any challenge around you, go for the word, make it your daily meditation and confession. Sickness, diseases no matter their name will be destroyed by the power in the word.

Don’t live with excuses!

Proverbs 26:13 “The lazy person [who is self-indulgent and relies on lame excuses] says, “There is a lion in the road! A lion is in the open square [and if I go outside to work I will be killed]!” (AMP)

Many people who don’t amount to anything in life are most often “excuse lovers”. In fact, they have every reason under this earth why they didn’t or couldn’t do what they were supposed to. As a Christian it is prudent for you to know that excuses never promotes anyone to the top. In fact, if you always have reasons, or excuses for not doing what you “must” do,  you are simply on the road of failures.

Many folks have made giving excuses part of their life that they still see nothing wrong with it. But you can’t travel with excuses and still get to your destination. Excuses will only make you irresponsible and life has no place for such people. The truth is that if you are not responsible, then you are not ready for life. You must learn to be responsible for everything that goes on in your life.

Never give room for excuses. Don’t play any blame game. Irrespective of how things will turn up in your life, you must never make room for excuses. Whether you are faced with tough and challenging moments, still be responsible and avoid making room for excuses.

Be eager to find a way to deliver on your mandate than to find reasons why you can’t do or didn’t do what you must do. The Bible talks about people who give reasons (excuses) for not working because of unfavorable weather conditions. It says that, such folks will end as beggars. See Proverbs 20:4: “The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing“.

You see, instead of wasting your time looking for an excuse to give, rather find ways and means to deliver your mandate.

Read: Proverbs 26:15 “The lazy person buries his hand in the dish [losing opportunity after opportunity]; It wearies him to bring it back to his mouth. (AMP)

“Do you have the mind to work”

Nehemiah 4:6 “So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work”

Nothing can replace work. Words, ideas, philosophies, instructions, guidelines, what have you, until they are harnessed into action through “work” it is of no value.

The book of Nehemiah, throws a great light on the value of work and how by working one can turn things around. In the book, we see how Nehemiah took up the responsibility to rebuild the broken walls and gates of Jerusalem. Although his initial response to the news of the ruined city was weeping, praying and fasting. He didn’t end there (Nehemiah 1:3-4). He championed the course of getting resources and people to get the job done.

Nehemiah 2:20 says “Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem”. This unrelenting and daring attitude brought their shattered town back to life because they had the mind to work. Nehemiah 4:6 says “So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work

You see, the principles revealed in the book of Nehemiah is timeless in that, what you don’t work at, you can’t enjoy. It also tells you that, prayer and fasting has its place but not a substitute for what your hands must do. Instead of crying, complaining, arguing or engaging in unproductive actions, divert your energy to work. Work things out. Do something that will change the state of affairs in your life, ministry, career, etc.

Don’t forget that Nehemiah had many options, he could have complained, he could have only prayed and fasted, he could have blame other people for the woes of the city but he didn’t give himself to any of these. Take charge of your life. Don’t sit for things to go awry. Pray, fast, but don’t forget to work at things.

Read: Ecclesiastes 9:10 “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest”

How to have results in your prayer life

1 Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray without ceasing

Every child of God must be a prayerful person. The Bible teaches that, Christians must pray always and not to give up. On the other hand, praying always does not mean results from the praying will come at a default. You must satisfy some biblical principles for your prayers to be answered.

For you to have results or receive answers to your prayer, you must pray in faith. When you pray with doubt in your heart you stop the flow of God’s power from working on your behalf (James 1:6-7).

Also one way to have results in your prayer life is living in peace with one another especially in a marital union. Husbands, must learn to honour their wives as weaker vessels, and to dwell with them according to knowledge so that their prayers are not hindered. 1 Peter 3:7 says “Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered”. That’s to say that, not treating people well can hinder your prayers from availing much.

Last but not the least is living right. You see, you have no business praying when you don’t want to live by the word, especially when your prayers are directed towards receiving blessings and supplies in life. Pastor Leonard Ravenhill of blessed memory once said, “You can’t live wrong and pray right.” The Bible says, the ears of God are attentive to the prayers of the righteous. 1 Peter 3:12  says “For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.”

Don’t just pray. Follow biblical principles alongside the prayers and you will see results

Read: 2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Win souls by your behaviour

1 Peter 3:1-2 “Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives”.

How you live can influence people to serve God, obey God or have nothing to do with God. This may sound a bit strange but that’s what one can infer from on opening scripture. Many Christians have missed it when it comes to soul winning in their homes. In fact, the only place they prove their Christianity and faith in the Lord is in a local Church but this is a sad situation.

Our opening text teaches how a wife, by submission to his own husband can influence him to obey the Lord. Although our world today goes with many philosophies, ideas and different concepts when it comes to wives submitting to their husbands, God’s word is supreme.

Wives must by every standard, go with the teaching of the word of God on submission. That’s to say, obey their husbands, and subscribe to their leadership whole heartedly without rebellion. The Bible says, the God kind of submission in a family is able to touch husbands who don’t believe the word of God, to be turned to the faith.

You see, as a wife, your submission reveals your purity and your reverence to God (1 Peter 3:2). On submission the Bible enjoins wives to be like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord (1 Peter 3:6). Action speaks louder than words most of the times. A godly character, a noble character, or a biblically inspired character has the power to win souls to the Lord.

Just like how the wife’s behaviour towards the husband is able to win him to the Lord, your behaviour is also a factor to touching lives. How do you behave in your home? How do you behave at your work place? What virtues and values do you uphold to?

Remember, that you must always be an example to the world and it should be with the aim of leading people to Christ. Don’t live anyhow. Don’t make your obedience to God’s word dependent on what people say or do to you.

Read: Matthew 5:16, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven”

Don’t revenge!

1Peter 3:9 “Not returning evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.”

To revenge means to take an action to hurt or harm someone in return for an injury or wrong suffered at their hands. It also means to do evil in return for an evil you have suffered from someone.

As Christians, our dealings with one another may not always bring a better outcome. Sometimes some actions of people may cause you trouble and your actions may also do same. This happening calls for walking in love towards one another than taking the route to exercise vengeance. Every child of God must outgrow this “vengeance temptation”.

One best way to overcome this temptation is to always do good and expect nothing. This is because sometimes the “good” you did for people will be thrown into oblivion. You will be forgotten! In fact, you will be treated in an unfair manner by the people you once assisted. But none of these must make you repay them with evil.

Never allow the evil people do to you after being good to them affect your life. Give no place for vengeance.

Do good at all times. Remember the wise saying of mother Theresa “The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway. Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway. In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway “

Read: 1 Peter 3:9 “Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.”

Give and prosper.

Proverbs 11:24 “There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty”

Much of the poverty we see today in the body of Christ is nothing but the consequence of not giving. One biblical truth that brings prosperity is giving. Thus, when you don’t do anything about “giving” you will hardly become wealthy.

The act of giving has remained one of the core qualities that qualifies people to receive great wealth from the Lord. People who give get blessed. Proverbs 11:24 says, “One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty”

Don’t forget that prospering in life is linked to your ability to give to others. If you “scatter” blessings for other people to also benefit, you will increase in riches, wealth and honour”. That is how to prosper in life. The Bible says, it is more blessed to give (Acts 20:35).

You see, if you want to prosper, you must be concerned about giving. Don’t withhold more than is right. It is a great deception to think that, you can prosper by withholding or keeping things to yourself when there is a need you can generously answer to with your resources. People who withhold more than is right will finally end up with nothing.

Your unwillingness to give generously to help people and to support the things of God must be a serious concern. There are many people who are having a hard time in life because they don’t want to give to anyone or are not willing to give to support the work of God.

Be a conduit that God can use to transfer material blessings to other people and the Church at large and you will always increase. See a need today and meet it.
