Angels are on your side

Hebrews 1:14 “Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?”

The teaching on the importance of angels can’t be overemphasized. Throughout scripture we have seen how angels have stood on the side of the people of God for victories in times of battle, for protection, for guidance, and for deliverances in many ways.

In their journey through the wilderness God made known how He will bring his people to the promise land through the ministry of angels. See Exodus 23:20 “Behold, I am going to send an angel before you to guard you along the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared”.

Daniel 6:22 also records how God delivered his faithful servant Daniel from the mouths of lions. “My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths and they have not harmed me, inasmuch as I was found innocent before Him; and also toward you, O king, I have committed no crime

Also when Abraham sent Eliezer of Damascus to get a wife for his son Isaac in a land he had never been before, it took angelic intervention for the mission to be accomplished. Genesis 24:40 “He said to me, ‘The Lord, before whom I have walked, will send His angel with you to make your journey successful, and you will take a wife for my son from my relatives and from my father’s house

Psalm 91:11 says “For He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways” Psalm 34:7 says “The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and He delivers them”

The Bible says that, angels are ministering spirits sent to serve those who will be born again. It is important to know that the angels of God minister to us who are believers. Thus, they are with you to ensure that you “land safe” in your “promise land”. When you get born again you enter into another realm of life. It is called the innumerable company of angels. Hebrews 12:22-24 says, “But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable COMPANY OF ANGELS, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect…”where you are now as a Christian is more powerful and a more secured place.

As you walk with the Lord, as you pray, as you fast, may the Lord’s angel’s minister to you in diverse ways.

Don’t live in unbelief

Mark 9:23-24 “Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!

Unbelief never rewards in our walk with God. It actually hinders what God can do with us, for us and through us. Anytime unbelief is at work, it discredits what God’s word says and amplifies fears and lying vanities from the pit of hell.

Jesus was about to help a man whose son had a mute spirit. But the terms and conditions was for the man to believe. Mark 9: 23 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes. You see, everything and any anything is possible if you believe. Thus the one shortest way to truncate your miracle, breakthrough, divine intervention is by unbelief.

People who operate in and with unbelief are not fully persuaded that God will fulfill his word in their life. They don’t trust the reliability, authenticity, genuineness or veracity of God’s word. For some even though God has said he will not leave us or forsake us, it means so little to them (Hebrews 13:5).

Unbelief has caused many to lose their place in life because they did not mix the word with faith. What is the essence of being in Church and not trusting him? One song writer said

Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, Just to take Him at His Word; Just to rest upon His promise, Just to know, “Thus saith the Lord!”

You see, it is always sweet to trust in Jesus. Take him at his word and you will make it. Believe his word for your health, believe his word for your marriage, believe his word for your finances, and believe his word for your ministry and awesome things will happen.

Don’t let unbelief take you out of your covenant blessings as a Child of God. May the Lord help you to keep faith in all the changing scenes of your life.

Do it quickly

John 13:27 “…What you are about to do, do quickly

When it comes to getting results in life it is about getting things done. Not just doing things, but also doing them at the right time. Most Christians have remained in the clutches of poverty, stagnation, failure and in undignified lives because of not doing things when they ought to.

There are many people today who are masters of “slow down” and “slow motion”. They never work hard and smart on things they have to do. In fact, they get themselves occupied with frivolous things and other unproductive engagements.

You see, when purpose and vision is revealed, you must not drag your feet when it is time to execute the mandate or the assigned task. Delays will not serve your interest or make you successful when it is time for the execution of a mandate.

Judas was about to betray Jesus for him to be crucified, but Jesus’ admonishment to him is somewhat strange. He told Judas to carry on quickly. He never told him to slow down or become nonchalant.

When it comes to having success in your endeavors you can’t downplay on factors like accuracy, precision of vision, wisdom and knowledge. But all these factors must be harnessed through “speed” or “acting quickly”

On acting quickly in Acts 12:7 the bible says “And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon [him], and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from [his] hands”. For Peter to be delivered from the prison after prayers he needed to act quickly.

In Acts 22:18, Paul tells how he had to move out quickly from Jerusalem to the Lord’s biddings. Never pride in being slow in life. Some ignorantly even attribute this their personality type by saying I am a “phlegmatic”. Well success in life does not happen by such statements.

Add speed to your study, add speed to the process of enhancing your character, add speed to obeying God’s call on your life, add speed to translating your relationship into marriage, add speed to career life and God’s grace will perfect things. Remember, if you engage delays, it will also do so to you.

Get something done now! You don’t have all the years at your disposal.

Cultivate the attitude of being grateful

2 Chronicles 32:25 “But the sign, instead of making Hezekiah grateful, made him arrogant. This made God angry, and his anger spilled over on Judah and Jerusalem

To be grateful simply means you show appreciation for something done for you or something you have received. In 2 Chronicles 32, the bible talks about how Sennacherib king of Assyria came and entered into Judah, and encamped against the fenced cities, and thought to win them for himself and how GOD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all other, and guided them on every side.

Nonetheless, this great act of mercy and love from the Lord to Hezekiah was taken lightly. The bible says “But the sign, instead of making Hezekiah grateful, made him arrogant. This made God angry, and his anger spilled over on Judah and Jerusalem”

Hezekiah was never grateful to the Lord for delivering him and guiding them on every side. This act of ingratitude or ungratefulness did not please the Lord. Hezekiah lost God’s favour in this matter.

This same truth happens in life. We have people today who don’t value the need to be grateful. In fact, they take God and people for granted. Their “world” is void of thank you or any meaningful appreciation. There are people who don’t see the need to thank God for his goodness and mercies towards them. There are people who don’t see the need to appreciate those that God used to make them better people in life today.

Some wives today are ungrateful because they have forgotten that it took divine intervention for them to marry. Also, some pastors have forgotten that it took someone to launch them into the ministry, some children today have also forgotten about their parents who toiled night and day to raise them.

You see, no matter where you get to in life, don’t forget to be grateful. In fact, you can’t say thank you enough to God, and there are some people also in your life that you must forever be grateful to for their indelible impact on your life.

Remember! Don’t forget the awesome things done for you. Like how my brother, Pastor Albert Nii Nortey Dowuona once preached from Bishop Dag Heward Mill’s book titled “those who remember” don’t toss nostalgic memorabilia. Keep the memories of things done for you. Keep the pictures! Keep the monuments! Keep the things that will make you say thank you always.

You are the light of the world.

Mathew 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden”

Christians have many obligations. Some to the body of Christ and some to the world. When it comes to the world, the bible says we are the light of the world. That is to say that, being a Christian means that, there is something to offer to the world. Your life must not only be limited to religious activities without any impact to this sin doomed world.

You see, most people limit their Christian life to going to Church, praying and reading their Bible. Nonetheless, although this is where to start from, or the good foundation to have, your life as a Christian must go above and beyond that. Your life must reflect the truth of the gospel. You must show forth the values and virtues of the faith. This is what makes you a light.

Your life as a Christian must go beyond church attendance to reflect the true values and virtues of the faith

Just as a light brings illumination, clarity, and beauty to a place, the life of the Christian must be no different. With the rise of many ills in society- disrespect and disregard for authority, bribery and corruption, ethnocentrism, immorality, occultism, idolatry and the like, God wants believers to stand out and shine with the new life that will ward off all these things.

Believers must not sit and allow evil to dominate the world. There is a role or duty that God wants you to discharge wherever you find yourself. Your light must shine. Like the prophet declared “Arise and Shine”.

Don’t sit and fold your hands for things to go bad. Let your life and words be an influence on people. That is how to become “God’s agent for change”.

Let your life radiate the Glory of God all the time.

Love

1 Corinthians 13:1-8″If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothingLove is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self- seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres.Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away

Many people have limited love to a “good feeling”, others have limited it to “merry making” but these are just side attractions when compared to the love that God expects us to walk in. In fact, love goes beyond feelings. It is living out the nature of God in you to a brother or sister. This is what will result in the deeds of kindness, patience, forgiveness, and giving.

As a Christian, this deposit of love is in you. The Bible says, the Love of God is shared abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5).

You see, love is such a great and priceless virtue. It is highly esteemed above being gifted. It is highly esteemed above just sacrificing or giving out things to people. God wants you to make love your language and deed. And just as people put premium on the gifts they have and do everything possible to grow it, you must also make every effort to do same.

The Bible says love never fails, and it also abides forever. Never be discouraged to walk in love. Always know that when all is said and done, love wins.

Read: John 13:34A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another

God will not lie to you.

Psalm 89:35 “Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David“.

One nature of God is truth. Thus, it makes it impossible for God to lie. Hebrews 6:18 “That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us”.

Having this truth that, God can’t lie and will not lie to you settles every doubt that can govern your mind. Despite the fact that sometimes you may go through troubles and be faced with hardships, frustrations and daring situations, these should not make you lose faith in the Lord.

You see, there are people today who want to be like the Israelites that left Egypt. All that they have in their mind is “let us go back to Egypt” due to the hardships in the wilderness. But no matter the situation or happenings in the wilderness, that does not take away the realities in the Promised Land. Not only that, It does not also take away the “promise of God”. God is able to make His word stand against all odds. That’s why the thought of going back into the world – to be governed by its principles and philosophies is never an option to the believer.

Hold on! Child of God, hold on to God’s promise for your life, ministry, relationship, marriage, finances, health, and prospects in life. God says He CAN’T lie to you just as He said unto David. There is hope for your future. The plans, visions and hope that God ignited in your heart are not dashed. May be you have a need, or you want God to intervene in a situation you are facing now. Cheer up, the faithful one says He can’t lie to you.

Beloved God will do it. Remember Abraham in the strange land, Daniel in the Lion’s den, Joseph in prison, and Jesus on the cross. It was like all hope was gone. But God showed up and it ended in praise. I declare that your story when it is said will be no different.

Wait on the Lord, never quit, your time of a heavenly surprise and blessing is now.

Your testimony will be great.

Read: Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?”

Help people get to the top

Philippians 2:4 “Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others”

“Others” must matter to you as a Christian. You must always have the intention which is also backed by actions to make others better in life. This is the very way to make people get to the top in life.

The life of Jesus speaks volume on this subject. The Bible talks about how he had compassion on people to heal them, feed them and to also teach them. Not only that, he also associated with some and made some his co-workers (Matthew 9:35-36, Mark 6:34, Mathew 10:1)

You see, life must not always be about you. See the need to help others reach their destiny. The Bible in Mark 2:3-12, speaks about some four men who helped another person to receive his healing from Jesus. Matthew 8:4-5, also talks of a certain roman centurion who helped his servant to be made whole. These two events in the gospels teach us about how we can go about our life as believers. You see, someone becoming better like you or even more than you will not take away something from you. What great it will rather be, when people make you as reference for the success they have achieved in life. In fact, even if you are not referenced by people you may have helped, you have lived out your God ordained purpose as a light of the world.

Who is in your life today? Are you helping the person to make it in life or you are just looking on for them to be taken over by evil and the vices of this world. Master the courage to help someone in life. Whether your wife, your husband, parents, siblings, friends, colleagues, etc. be an agent of blessing to them.

For instance you can help someone to be saved, help some to know the Lord better, help someone to secure a job, help someone to get married, help someone to better their finances etc. These investments in the Kingdom of God will one day speak for you. Don’t despise people who genuinely need your help you. Don’t look on helplessly when you have what it takes to make someone better.

Faith comes by hearing God’s word

Romans 10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God

The importance of faith can’t be overemphasized. It is the pillar or bedrock on which we thrive as Christians. In fact, the teaching on faith should be one subject the Christian must hold in high esteem. The Bible makes it clear that we live by faith (Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:11, Hebrews 10:38).

Knowing the victories, successes, and triumphs we can attain by faith is important, but we must first and foremost look at how we can come by this faith. The knowledge of how to get faith must be our starting point any time the subject matter is mentioned.

You see, there are many people today who know about the power of faith but they have not so much mastered the truth on how to get faith or build faith. In fact, some don’t even know how to rightly get faith. The case is just like having been told of a nice place but you don’t know how to get there or you don’t know the way to the place.

When it comes to faith, God’s word instructs on how it can be acquired. Romans 10:17 clearly says “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”. God’s word is the only source of faith. Reading, and hearing God’s word builds faith into your spirit. This is the bible way of getting faith. Many people have missed it on this simple truth. They try to use other means to get faith and it gets them nowhere.

In fact, some folks go to the extent of even praying for faith. You see, that is out of place. You need to have faith before you pray and not vice versa. Mark 11:24 says “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe…

If you want to have faith, learn to turn your ears to God’s word. Don’t just listen to any thing. Fables and humorous stories does not produce faith. Jesus said “TAKE heed therefore how you hear” (Luke 8:18). It is time to “school yourself in faith” with the word of God. Your faith is the victory that overcomes the world. Do something about your faith now before the evil days come. Remember you will need it to stand and win.

Read: Mark 5:27-28 “When the woman heard about Jesus, she came up through the crowd behind Him and touched His cloak. For she kept saying, “If only I touch His garments, I will be healed.”

Take your “ladder” with you

2 Timothy 4:13 “The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments

Success in life is predicated on many factors. As a Christian you must know the very things that puts you ahead or makes you significant in life. These things – whether they are actions, attitudes, people or your worship life are ladders. They help you to attain heights that would have been impossible to access.

The Apostle Paul in our opening text asked his protégé, Timothy, to bring with him books and parchments he had left in Troas on his missionary journey. As an avid writer and a great learner, the Apostle saw the need for his books and parchments if he was to continue to make impart. This principle is the “take your ladder with you”

You see as you move on in life, it is important you take your ladder with you, so that you can use it to climb to every next level. Though as Christians we may have some common things as ladder(s) such as prayer life, consecrated living, faith and giving, there will also be some ladders that will be peculiar to everyone due to their uniqueness and their calling.

Thus to some their ladder is “a serious prayer life”, “a word study life”, “soul winning”, and “a person who helps you in your Christian life”. Just to help you see what your ladder is, reflect on the things and persons God has brought your way that have made you who you are.

You must seriously guard it and never leave your ladder behind. Leaving your ladder behind will rob you of an opportunity in the future. Don’t leave behind the things that has made you what you are today. Don’t let other engagements in life make you ignore your ladder. Go for it, and get back to work.
