USE YOUR FAITH IN DIFFICULT TIMES

Luke 8:24–25 “They went and woke him, saying, ‘Master, Master, we’re going to drown!’ He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. ‘Where is your faith?’ he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, ‘Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.’”

God expects His children to respond with faith when the storms of life arise. In this passage, Jesus questioned His disciples not because the storm was unreal, but because fear had replaced faith in their hearts.

As a believer, you carry the seed of faith within you. It took faith for you to believe and receive salvation, and that same faith is meant to be exercised daily in the affairs of life. God does not give faith to us only for church activities but for real-life situations.

When difficulties come, it is not the time to panic, complain, murmur, or look for sympathy. These reactions do not change circumstances. Faith is what produces results. In the storm on the sea, it was not the disciples’ cries that brought calm, but the faith and authority Jesus exercised.

Scripture reminds us that faith is the victory that overcomes the world. Do not watch challenges grow unchecked in your life. Put your faith to work. Speak God’s Word boldly against every storm that seeks to overwhelm you.

God does not desire that you live sick, broken, bound by sin, or weighed down by life’s pressures. You have been given faith to rise above adversity. Use the faith you have. Refuse to run from trouble. Stand firm and confront every challenge with confidence in God.

Read: 1 John 5:4 “For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.”

Prayer: Lord, help me to use my faith boldly and consistently in every difficult season of my life. Amen.

BUILT TO LAST

Matthew 7:24-25 “Everyone who hears my teaching and applies it to his life can be compared to a wise man who built his house on an unshakable foundation. When the rains fell and the flood came, with fierce winds beating upon his house, it stood firm because of its strong foundation.”

It is important that we pay critical attention to the things we are building or putting up in life. Know that everyone at all can build something or start something in life. Nonetheless, not everything that people build can stand the test of time.

Until you have in mind to build something that must last, most of the things you do will collapse in the near future when you wanted them the most.

Our opening text unveils one wisdom; ‘foundation matters’. It gives security in difficult times. Thus, the foundation of whatever you are building is crucial. Whether it is your personal life, ministry, relationship and marriage, career, finances, build it to stand the test of time. Build it so that, it can live out it’s purpose rain or shine.

For instance, as described in the opening text, building on a rock is difficult. It takes time, requires patience, it is hard work, and requires great strength and wisdom. It is no easy path to travel, but it pays in the end when what you have built can weather the storm.

Whatever you want to build, use the right approach, start well, be guided by good counsel, and above all, engage resourceful people. Yes, it is your life, yes it is your ministry, yes it is your relationship or marriage, but guidance, correction, and counsel will make you succeed. If you do your own thing, the storms of life will hit you hard.

Read: Proverbs 24:3 Through [skillful and godly] wisdom a house [a life, a home, a family] is built, And by understanding it is established [on a sound and good foundation] (AMP)

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to build things that will last.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT PATH

Proverbs 16:25 “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death”

There are many activities and pursuits that people follow in the course of their lives. All these represent a path that people want to take.

Nonetheless, some of the ways can be right or wrong. Also, although some of the pursuits may not be wrong in themselves, one can go about it in a wrong.

As a Christian, it is your duty to discern appropriately the path you are taking in life. This will help you choose the right way to the things you do in life.

Thus, whether it is ministry, relationships, marriage, or finances, until you choose the right way, you can ruin your life.

Know that, the fact that something appears right does not make it right. It is also possible that wrong choices, actions, or even evil may present themselves as attractive and good, beware.

Let the Word of God guide your decisions, and receive godly counsel or instructions to determine the course you take in life. Do not allow yourself to be led by empty and ungodly philosophies of men.

Read: Matthew 7:13–14 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to always choose the right way in life.

THE SAVIOUR

Matthew 1:21 “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS for he shall save his people from their sins.”

The coming of Jesus Christ is not a suggestion or a religious tradition. It is Gods decisive intervention in a world doomed by sin. Jesus was not given to be admired from a distance. He was sent with a clear and urgent mandate to save mankind from sin and its consequences. To ignore or reject this gift is to turn away from Gods only provision for salvation.

Before Jesus came humanity was helplessly trapped under the dominion of sin and death. Sin robbed man of the higher life God intended and handed him over to destruction. No level of morality, sacrifice or human effort could rescue mankind. Without Christ man was lost bound and condemned. But God in His mercy sent His Son as the only way of escape.

The Scripture declares in John 3:16 that God gave His only begotten Son so that whoever believes in Him would not perish but have everlasting life. This clearly shows that there is no alternative saviour. Jesus is not one of many ways. He is the way. To reject Jesus is to choose perishing over life, darkness over light and bondage over freedom.

Isaiah spoke plainly in Isaiah 53:4 to 5 that Jesus bore our griefs carried our sorrows and was wounded for our transgressions. Every pain sickness and judgment that should have fallen on us was laid upon Him. To continue in sin after such a sacrifice is to despise the cross and take lightly the love of God.

Jesus is still saving today. Hebrews 7:25 declares that He is able to save to the uttermost those who come to Him. But salvation must be received. It is not automatic. Grace demands a response. Mercy must not be abused.

What is your condition today? Are you bound by sin controlled by addictions? Are you living in rebellion against God? Know that you cannot save yourself. Respond to the Lord, by accepting His Lordship over your life. Delay is dangerous and neutrality is impossible.

Surrender fully to Jesus Christ.

Read: Romans 10:13“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Prayer: Lord, I acknowledge your Lordship over my life. I surrender fully to your course. Amen

WORK FOR RESULTS

Proverbs 14:23 “If you work hard at what you do, great abundance will come to you. But merely talking about getting rich while living to only pursue your pleasures brings you face-to-face with poverty.”

Results and positive outcomes in life do not come by wishful thinking or endless talking. They are produced through intentional effort and diligent labor. You must deliberately work towards anything you want to get before you can see it manifest.

You see, the fact that God has blessed and graced us as Christians doesn’t mean that we must do nothing or just lazy about but expect the best in life. It never works that way. Rather grace and the blessings serve as a source of empowerment, and guidepost to doing significant things in life.

Whether in spirituality, ministry, career, marriage, finances and every facet of your life, there is the need to work at it. To some of these, the work will be prayer, study, deep research, submitting to guidance or mentorship, diligence, constant practice, and the like.

You see, having results in life is not about pacing up and down a walkway without direction. Work at something. Use your energetic moments in life to give the best shots of things. Avoid laziness, too much sleep, and overindulgence in unproductive ventures. Do things that will bless humanity and never give no room for mediocrity.

Read: Ecclesiastes 10:18 “Through laziness the rafters [of state affairs] decay and the roof sags, and through idleness [the roof of] the house leaks.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to work hard towards my purpose in life.

THE PEOPLE FACTOR

Proverbs 27:17 “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”

The kind of people you are connected to determines, to a large extent, how successful you can be in life. There are certain people that, when you are connected to them, help you discover, develop, and fulfill your God-given purpose. This is what godly connections bring into a person’s life.

Being connected to godly and positive people is a priceless asset. Such people add value to you and push you forward. They either become ladders that help you climb higher or springboards that elevate you into new levels of growth and success.

The Bible gives us a clear example in the story of Ruth the Moabitess. Ruth willingly and zealously connected herself to Naomi. That single decision repositioned her life and destiny. Through Naomi, Ruth found herself among God’s people and eventually enjoyed undeniable success and honor (Ruth 1:16–18).

You see, you must be discerning enough to recognize the people God has given you as ladders and springboards. Do not be deceived by their unassuming nature or familiarity. Look beyond appearances. Apply wisdom to build and maintain your connection with them. Be teachable, loyal, and consistent. Be a committed follower.

Do not live on an island when God has already made provision for you through people. God uses friends, teachers, pastors, parents, guardians, and mentors to help you live out and fulfill your purpose in life. Ignoring such relationships often leads to unnecessary struggles.

Read: Proverbs 13:20 “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the people You have made available for my success in life

WHAT YOU KNOW MATTERS

Hosea 4:6 says “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.”

Knowledge is a powerful advantage in life. It is an undeniable truth that most successful people operate with a certain level of understanding. What they know, whether gained through experience, learning, or information, guides their decisions and helps them respond wisely at critical moments in life.

You see, knowledge is a major key in the school of success. Progress in life becomes difficult when a person remains ignorant. It is what you know that gives you an advantage and positions you for exploits. For this reason, you must never make excuses when it comes to learning or exposing yourself to the right environments that build understanding. Growth is impossible without knowledge.

Make deliberate time to read relevant books, be willing to offer your skills even freely at the early stages of your journey, and closely observe and follow people who have achieved some level of success in their fields. Such exposure expands your understanding and sharpens your sense of direction. Ignorance, on the other hand, can cause you to miss great opportunities that may never return.

The Bible gives a clear illustration of the power of knowledge in the story of the woman with the issue of blood. She had suffered for twelve years, and her condition never improved. However, the Bible says that when she heard of Jesus, when she gained knowledge, everything changed for her, as recorded in Mark 5:25 to 34. What she knew stirred her faith, moved her to act, and brought her healing. Her breakthrough was connected to knowledge.

As a Christian, you also need divine knowledge. Feed consistently on the Word of God and seek to understand the mysteries of the Kingdom. Become familiar with key principles in Scripture. God’s Word gives insight for today and foresight for tomorrow, empowering you to reign in life with wisdom and confidence.

As Jesus said in John 8:32, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for the spirit of understanding. Help me to grasp insight into the matters of life and walk in wisdom. Amen.

THERE IS A REWARD IN WORKING FOR GOD

1 Corinthians 15:58 says “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

Working for God demands consistency, commitment, and steadfastness. When you labour for the Lord with a stable and devoted heart, your efforts will always attract a reward. Every genuine work done for God carries value, meaning, and divine recognition.

There is great profit in labouring for the Lord. Nothing you do for God or in the advancement of His work is ever ignored or wasted. God sees every labour and every sacrifice you make because of His work. This is why your reward is not a matter of chance but a certainty anchored in God’s faithfulness.

Hebrews 6:10 says “God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.” God will not forget your work. The Bible makes it clear that His eyes move to and fro throughout the earth. See 2 Chronicles 16:9: “The Lord is constantly watching everyone…” God knows those who are genuinely working for Him out of love, and He also knows those who are not committed to His work.

Do not be left out of this rewarding work. If you are born again, you have already been rightly positioned to work for the Lord. The Bible says that believers are His workmanship, created for good works (Ephesians 2:10).

Join the company of those whom God will reward at the end by doing something meaningful for Him.

Read: 1 Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace work to promote your kingdom. Amen

ALIGN YOUR HEART WITH RIGHT MOTIVES

Jeremiah 17:10 “But I, the LORD, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards according to what their actions deserve.”

Every action we take in life is driven by a motive, whether we recognize it or not. Our motives shape the decisions we make, the paths we follow, and even the things we choose to avoid. Nothing we do is truly accidental; behind every action lies an intention of the heart.

In truth, the state of your heart is often revealed through your conduct. What you consistently do exposes what truly motivates you. As a Christian, it is important that both your actions and inactions flow from pure, godly, and sincere motives. You must not allow wrong intentions such as pride, selfish ambition, jealousy, or the desire for recognition to influence the direction of your life.

Philippians 2:3, says, “Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard others as more important than yourselves.” This verse reminds us that even good deeds lose their value when they are carried out from selfish or competitive motives.

Continually examine yourself in the light of God’s Word and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Regular self-examination helps you to realign your heart and maintain right motives. While it is not wrong to be ambitious or to pursue God-given dreams and visions, such ambitions must never be carried out at the expense of others or driven by ungodly intentions.

Take time to seriously reflect on the reasons behind what you do in life. Ask yourself why you are serving God, why you are involved in ministry, and why you are in a particular relationship. Honest answers to these questions will expose the true motives of your heart.

Set your motives right before you act.

Read: Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword… and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to always do things out of a right motive. Amen

WALK IN DIVINE DIRECTION

Isaiah 30:21 “And your ears will hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the right or to the left.”

One of the greatest privileges we have as Christians, is the guidance we receive from the Lord. God always provides help and advice on how we must act or handle situations. He desires to continually help and counsel us through His Word and by the Holy Spirit, showing us what to do, what to avoid, and how to face life’s challenges wisely.

Our opening scripture reveals God’s willingness to direct our steps. He does not let us figure life out on our own. Romans 8:14 says “those who belong to God are led by His Spirit”.

Thus, to enjoy this life of divine direction, you must be attentive to the voice of the Lord. You must be willing to listen to what He says concerning your life, your choices, and your responses. This is the practical expression of God’s Lordship. When you were born again, you received not only salvation but also a Lord who desires to direct your steps.

You see, it is impossible to be guided by God while resisting His Word or ignoring His instructions. A guided life begins with a heart that longs for His direction and delights in His Word, whether through Scripture or through the prompting of His Spirit.

Know that, in a world filled with uncertainty, confusion, and spiritual opposition, the safest and surest way to thrive is to walk under the guidance of the all-knowing God. Those who yield themselves to His leadings will find success, protection, and peace even in difficult times.

When you live a guided life, you are spared many costly mistakes and the pain that follows wrong decisions. God’s guidance keeps you aligned with His will and preserves your destiny.

Read: Psalm 25:9 “He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.”

Prayer: Lord, grant me the grace to submit fully to Your guidance. Amen.
