Sin has no power over you.

Romans 6:12 says “Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires”
The born again Christian has been freed and delivered from the power of sin. That means, sin has no power over the believer (Romans 6:14).

Know that, the moment Christ became the Lord over your life, you entered into freedom (Galatians 5:1).
But now that you have been set free, it’s dependent on you to keep yourself from being under the bondage of sin.

You see, even though the devil will still try to influence you to sin, you must decide not to yield.
Psalm 4:4 says, “Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah“
Standing in awe is one way to keep your freedom in the Lord. It means constantly walking in reverence to God. This “holy fear” will help you not to “make a practice of sinning”.
You see, living in sin as a child of God, is one of the greatest dishonor to God.

Today, we have some believers who take God for granted. They lie, steal, cheat, get involved in immoral stuffs and still “take things cool” as if nothing has happened.
But the Bible says, ‘stand in awe”. Have reverence for God. Don’t treat God’s sacred temple which is your body with contempt. In other words, don’t corrupt yourself.

Remember that, nothing but a fiery judgment is what awaits anyone who takes “grace” for granted and uses it as a license to sin.
Refuse to bring yourself under any wrong and satanic influence.
Walk in the new life and fight any attempt of the enemy to influence you to sin.

Read: 1 John 3:8-9 “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God”

Make positive confessions

Hebrews 10:23 says “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful”.
What you confess has the power to make or unmake you. This is why positive confession is crucial.

Your duty as a christian is not to ruin and to destroy, but to establish and to make things work by the confession of your mouth.

Positive confession determines your state of rest and survival. It will determine what you can have or not have. This is because confessions are always made unto something.

Master the act of positive confession despite the circumstances you may encounter.
You see, those who want to succeed must see themselves in the light of the scriptures, and make a decision to confess what the word says about them until they see results.

Never say something about yourself when it is inconsistent with the word. Say only what the word says about you. There can be nothing more glorious to that.

Remember that wrong confession will bring you into bondage, and unnecessary troubles.

Be determined to confess what God says about you and live like that.

Choose your words carefully

Proverbs 15:1-2 says “A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.”

Words are powerful and as a believer it demands that you choose your words carefully before you utter them. Our opening verse gives an account of the impact of words; that it can either bring peace or chaos.

You see, choosing your words carefully will help you keep and maintain relationships the Lord has blessed you with. Thus, choosing your words carefully in the course of interacting with your spouse, children, and colleagues at work, school or church will help you promote peace and love.

Applying wisdom in your speech can also open great doors for you. God blesses your works and brings your way great people who can thrust you forward into your destiny because you won’t destroy them with your words.

As a Christian, learn to choose your words carefully. In all you do and say, be guided by the Spirit and the word of God so that you will be a blessing to your generation.

Hope beyond this life

1 Corinthians 15:19 says “If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied”. The hope of the believer is not only in this life. Our hope goes beyond the shores of this life.

You see, life on earth is transient. Thus, if our hope in Christ is for this earthly life, then the least said of it the better.
But that’s not the case. We have God’s abiding presence with us now and also in the world to come.

In teaching the Church in Corinth, the Apostle Paul said that if we do away with our earthly body, we have a new body from the Lord which is eternal.
2 Corinthians 5:1 says “For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.”

No wonder, life on earth is meaningless without Christ. Not only that, when you live denying the Lord today, you will be left to face the horrors in the world to come.
You see, Jesus is the answer for your life today, tomorrow and forever. Never be deceived to put your trust in earthly things and the fleeting fantasies of life.
Believe in the Lord now and he will be your saviour throughout the changing scenes of life.

Read: Ephesians 1:18 “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints”

Don’t hold on to the tradition of men

Mark 7:8 says “For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.”

Most traditions of men and God’s word does not go in the same direction. God’s word comes from Him alone and the traditions of men comes from men. There is no meeting point between God’s word and the tradition the world subscribes to.

In any case, it is carnal thinking that will make you think that the traditions of men are better than God’s word.
You see, there is no man made rule, practice, convention, norm, way of doing something or beliefs that can make our world better than God’s word.

The Jews in the times of old were caught up in the same trap. They upheld to tradition of men and not long enough they had nothing to do with God’s word. They went all out for the things that men had instituted and left God’s word.

Our generation is not different. We have become a bunch of Christians that follow the directions, traditions of men without considering the word of God.

You see, anytime you follow tradition, God’s word becomes unproductive in your life.
There are folks who remember the tradition of men than the word of God. No wonder nothing works for them although they are born again.

Instead of being consumed by tradition, be an adherent to God’s word. Never be carried away by the crowd.
Your worship and fellowship with the Lord should never be interrupted by anything.

If you are to follow anything at all, it should be something consistent with the truth revealed in the word.

Keep Yourself Pure

1 John 3:3 says “And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure” .
The Christian life is a call to purity. It is nothing but living a sanctified, separated and devoted life to the Lord.

Thus, keeping yourself pure is necessary for the fellowship you have with the Lord.
Keeping yourself pure demands absolute cleanliness and abstinence from anyone and anything that corrupts your life either spirit, soul or body.

2 Corinthians 7:1 says “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God”.
Your purity has a way to unlock God’s favour and blessings unto your life.
Remember that, God will always keep his promises to you but you must also stay pure to access them.

Never let down your “purity” for anything that the world may want to offer.
Be bold and flee from all appearances of evil. Desire to stay pure and eagerly pursue it against all odds.

Patience, your key to having God’s best.

Hebrews 10:36 says “For ye have need of patience, that after ye have done the will of God, ye may receive the promise.” When it comes to receiving God’s best for your life or the promises of God, you need to be patient. Being patient means that, you truly have faith in the Lord who makes all things beautiful in its time.

Patience is a virtue that makes you tolerant and never anxious or troubled in the face of adversities. The Bible in some places calls patience “longsuffering”. In other words, you are able to bear with things for long. That is also not to say that, you will be out of joy during these moments.

The Bible enjoins us not to be lazy but to follow the example of those who had faith and were patient until God kept his promise to them (Hebrews 6:12). Meaning that as a Christian your patience is key to receiving God’s best.

Galatians 5:22 reveals that patience is a fruit of the recreated human spirit. Thus, the believer has what it takes to be patient

You see, you can miss God’s best for your life when you are impatient in life. Sometimes, your faith will be tested. But patience is the virtue that can make you pass God’s test. There is nothing wrong when in the exercise of your faith you have to wait for weeks, months or even years. The truth is that you will get God’s best that you have believed at the end.
God never fails!

God wants you to prosper but you must have the patience for that. God wants you to be healed and be in health but you must have the patience for that. God wants you to have a great marriage but you must have the patience for that. God wants you to have a great job but you must have the patience for that.

If you throw away patience you will miss the best God has for you. You need great patience to come into your “promised land” just like the Israelites.

Child of God, your patience in life is a proof that you still trust in the Lord. Be patient so that you don’t miss God’s best for your life.

Winning wisdom

Proverbs 24:3 says “Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established”
Wisdom is an important factor for success in life. When you lack wisdom, you don’t make positive strides in life.

You see, wisdom brings great profit to the believer. It is the source of riches and honour (Proverbs 8:18-19). The fruit of wisdom is indeed better than fine gold. Wisdom has something excellent and extraordinary to give to those who possess her.

By wisdom your dignity and status in life is raised. Kings reign, and rulers decree justice by wisdom.

Anytime you think about making significant changes in your life and walk with God, consider walking in wisdom. Consider living the word of God, which is God’s wisdom. Consider living like Jesus, for the Bible says in him dwells all the treasures of wisdom. Consider obeying the very words that fell from the lips of Jesus when he walked on the face of the earth.
Never hesitate to follow instructions from the word. This is how you can open yourself up for wisdom.

In all your endeavours it is wisdom that will make you set a standard or stand out in life. It will make you a builder. It will make you become a blessing to your generation.

No one walking in wisdom, ends up being a good for nothing. It is worth walking in wisdom.

Contentment!

1 Timothy 6:6-8 says “But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.”

Contentment has often been described as a state of being mentally or emotionally satisfied with things as they are. Thus when people are content, they admit that they have enough of something or are satisfied with the provision made available to them.

The Bible has a great deal to say about contentment. That is, being satisfied with what we have, who we are, and where we’re going
Jesus said in Matthew 6:25 that;
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?”

You see, people who are not content in life, are always worried. They give themselves over to indiscriminate pursuit of things. As a Christian you must always know what drives you to want more of something.
Most often than not, people don’t really need more of something, what they actually need is putting what they already have to use.

You see, when you don’t walk in contentment, greed will dominate your life. You will break many boundaries of morality just to satisfy your insatiable desires.

Also, not walking in contentment will make you ungrateful to God for what you already have.

Don’t yield to the worldly pressures that is making people discontent in life. But be content with such things as you have.

Read: Ecclesiastes 5:10
“Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless.”

Look not at the things which are seen

2 Corinthians 4:18 says “While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal”.
As a believer, you must learn to see things with the eyes of faith. Looking at things with natural eyes will only make you draw conclusions or make decisions that will take you out from experiencing God’s glory.

The Bible says don’t look at the things which are seen. You see, whatever you see physically is temporal. But for you to have the miraculous, you must see the unseen through the eyes of faith.
You must see the word, you must see God’s promises and hold on to them

You see, it will be nothing but carnality when you limit life to sensuality- what you can see, feel, touch, etc. People who live with this mindset never make progress in their walk with God.

Be a person of faith and be fully persuaded to hold on to God’s word contrary to what evidences you may see with your natural eyes.

Read : 2 Corinthians 4:17 “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;”
