PRAYER TURNS SITUATIONS AROUND.

Genesis 24:12
“O Lord, God of my master, Abraham,” he prayed. “Please give me success today, and show unfailing love to my master, Abraham.”

Our opening text gives an account of a prayer said by a man named Eliezer of Damascus. He was not only a faithful man to his master Abraham, but also a prayer warrior.

This man was tasked by his master to find a wife for his son Isaac. Not so much an easy task but he just did one thing ; he prayed. He prayed his way through the situation, believing God to receive an answer.

In Genesis 24:25, bible says and he bowed his knees and worshiped the Lord for he has received an answer to his prayer. Meaning that God heard the petition of the man and answered him speedily. He found a wife for his master’s son Isaac, right among their relatives. What a miracle!

Know that prayer changes things. In the womb of prayer impossible situations are turned around, miracles are birthed, and life is given to hopeless situations.

Whatever situation you are faced with today, don’t fret, do not throw in the towel yet. Pray! Pray and believe in your prayers, for God is working behind the scenes to give you a miracle!

Read: Psalm 65:2 “O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come”

Prayer: Lord, I thank you that as I stand in prayer to seek your face all ill situations will turn for my favor.

FAMILIARITY BREAKS THE ANOINTING.

Mark 6:2-3
“And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him”

The above reveals how people’s familiarity with the Lord’s anointed cause them to miss out on God’s best and blessings.

You see, God will always use a human being or a man to bring the gospel to you. Not only that, God will anoint them specially for this task. But until you look at them and deal with them as the Lord’s anointed, their ministry and anointing will not or cannot bless you that much.

How you deal with God’s anointed minister who may be your friend, son, husband, wife, can hinder the grace or anointing on his life from blessing you.

One truth you must know is that, familiarity is a condition that neutralizes the power and the grace of God. It also makes you not to believe in the supernatural power or grace on a man of God

Never get used to an anointed person in your life like the town folks of Jesus that missed it.
Any time you become familiar with your Pastor, or a man of God, who is the Lord’s anointed, his ministry and gift will cease to bless you.

Remember to engage wisdom, respect, honor and honesty when dealing with the Lord’s servants. This will prevent you from becoming familiar.

Know that, the ANOIONTING you become FAMILIAR with, will CEASE to BLESS you.

Read: 2 Chronicles 20:20 “Early in the morning they got up and left for the Wilderness of Tekoa. As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood up and said, “Hear me, O people of Judah and Jerusalem. Believe in the LORD your God, and you will be upheld; believe in His prophets, and you will succeed.”

Prayer: Lord, help me not to be familiar with my man of God.

KEEP WATCH AND PRAY LEST YE ENTER INTO TEMPTATION.

Mark 14:38
“Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak”

It is an undeniable truth that Jesus emphasized on the importance of prayer during his ministry on the earth. It was something he practiced and taught.

In our opening text, we are admonished by the words of Jesus to keep watch and pray. That’s to say that, we have to be vigilant and give ourselves to prayer.

It makes a great difference when you pray. Anytime you are given to prayer, your life becomes a force to be reckoned with.
You are not easily taken by the snares and distractions in this present life.

You see, it will take prayer to be fully consumed in the presence of our loving God and father. Not only that, the men who have most fully illustrated Christ in their character, and have most powerfully affected the world for him, have been men who spent so much time with God as to make it a notable feature of their lives.
Know that, with your heart fully set on getting intimate with God in prayer, you will surely overcome every challenge or trial.

Be a man or woman of prayer.

Read:1 Peter 4:7 “But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace and strength to always stand in prayer against temptation.

IF GOD BE FOR US.

Romans 8:31
“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?”

One assurance we have as Christians is that, God is always with us and He makes us triumph in the face of any fiery battle or challenge.

Isaiah 54:17 says “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord”.
You see, being in Christ is the greatest security you can ever have in life.

The prophet Isaiah described the divine protection of Christians as a heritage. Meaning, divine protection is every Christian’s property or birth right.

Be conscious of this truth. Let it sink into your heart and let it dominate your mind. Keep saying it anytime and everywhere that, “you are under divine covering and protection”.
That’s the blessing of being in Christ.

Don’t fret when you see any battle or tide trying to come against you. Remember that you have what it takes to overcome.

Read: Acts 17:28 “For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring:”

Prayer: Lord, I thank you for divinely protecting me every day against every evil.

BE MINDFUL OF YOUR ASSOCIATION.

Proverbs 13:20
“Keep company with the wise and you will become wise. If you make friends with stupid people, you will be ruined”.

The Bible again in 2 Corinthians 6:14 says”Do not come into close association with unbelievers, like oxen yoked with asses. For what is there in common between righteousness and lawlessness? Or what partnership has light with darkness?”
In as much as God wants us to be at peace with all persons, it also matters the kind of company you keep.

As a Christian you must be particular when it comes to the associations or the company you keep. Going around with people who don’t regard nor value God will only destroy you.

You see, there are people you must keep to help your God given vision in life and there are some too you must avoid to prevent your God given vision from failing.

Just as lives perish when there is no vision, vision sometimes too perish when you don’t get the right people.
Proverbs 27:17 says “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend”.

Which people are you getting along with in life? What do they value? Do they have reverence for God? Are they bent on following God’s will and agenda for their lives ?

Remember that anyone you have as a friend, or associate with is your own choice. Be wise and keep associations that will inspire you to be godly, prayerful, hardworking, and above all, will cause you to end up in Heaven.

Read: 1 Corinthians 15:33 (Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.”)

Prayer: Lord, I pray for wisdom and insight to choose well my company.

THANKSGIVING.

Colossians 4:2
“Be persistent and devoted to prayer, being alert and focused in your prayer life with an attitude of thanksgiving”

Thanksgiving is one attitude that every Christian must maintain in prayer.

When it comes to prayer, there are different kinds based on the content and the approach. You can pray a prayer of faith, you can pray in the spirit, intercede, and pray a prayer of thanksgiving.

The prayer of thanksgiving dominantly and basically involves appreciating God’s grace and goodness in your life. It also involves appreciating God for past victories won.

Hannah the mother of Samuel is a perfect example when it comes to the prayer of thanksgiving. After receiving her “miracle baby” after many years of marriage without a child, she went back to the Lord’s house with thanksgiving and even paid the vow she made to God.

1 Samuel 1:27 says “For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of him”
1 Samuel 2:1 also says “And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the Lord, mine horn is exalted in the Lord : my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation”.

Learn to always abound in thanksgiving when you pray.

Read: Philippians 4:6 “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God”

Prayer: Lord, I pray that I will always be conscious of my thanksgiving to you.

BE INTENTIONAL ABOUT HONORING GOD.

Isaiah 29:13
“Then the Lord said, “Because this nation approaches [Me only] with their words And honors Me [only] with their lip service, But they remove their hearts far from Me, And their reverence for Me is a tradition that is learned by rote [without any regard for its meaning]”

Your relationship with God must be guided by both your words and actions that come from your heart. Limiting your relationship with God to only “what you say” and don’t live by it, makes it nothing than a mere lip service.

One truth you must know is that, God is not moved by lip service and neither does he promote anyone into lip service.
You can’t have God’s best for your life when you don’t go beyond words into doing what you confess.

Luke 6:46 says
And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
Thus, saying you are a Christian makes no difference to God until you live the new life you have received from him. Move away from all the “talk show” and start living out the virtues of the Christian faith.

Never forget, God is not moved by empty words. Add sincere heart and actions to your worship and relationship with God.

Read: Luke 6:46 “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things” which I say?

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace and a honest heart to always honor you with my words and actions.

IMITATE WHAT IS GOOD.

3 John 1:11
“Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but [imitate] what is good. The one who practices good [exhibiting godly character, moral courage and personal integrity] is of God; the one who practices [or permits or tolerates] evil has not seen God [he has no personal experience with Him and does not know Him at all].”. What you imitate or copy can either make or unmake you. As Christians, the Lord enjoins us to imitate only what is good.

In 1 Corinthians chapter 11, the bible gives the standard for what we must imitate or copy. The verse eleven says “Imitate me, just as I imitate Christ”. Thus, anything you imitate, copy, or follow must be “Christ centered” or in sync with what the Lord prescribes in his word.

You see, just imitating everything or anything without checking whether it is in line with God’s word can ruin your life. Whether in the area of spirituality, fashion, relationship, marriage, career, money matters, etc., don’t just copy what people do.
Imitate only the good that is consistent with the Lord’s will and save yourself from any unbearable consequences.

Read: 1 Thessalonians 5:22 “Abstain from every form of evil [withdraw and keep away from it].”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace and wisdom to imitate what is good.

PUT ON CHRIST.

Ephesians 4:22, 24
“That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness

One of the greatest miracles in life is being born again. It is an encounter that brings life to your dead spirit and makes you alive.
Not only that, it also imparts the nature and the virtues of God into you. This is what makes a person new.

Therefore to successfully live out the new life, you must put off the old man by not letting your carnal or natural desires rule your life.

By knowledge of the word, you must live out the new identity or the new life you have in Christ.
This is how you put on the new man.

Anytime you put on the new man you deny the flesh access to control you.
Ephesians 4:25-27 teaches some things to put off and what to put on. It says “Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. [26] Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: [27] Neither give place to the devil.”

Read: Ephesians 4:22 “That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to always in the reality of the new man I carry.

KNOW THAT YOU ARE A WITNESS.

Acts 1:8
“But you will receive power and ability when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses [to tell people about Me] both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth.”

Every Christian has been empowered by the Holy Spirit to preach the gospel. Thus, when it comes to witnessing, it is no more about having the ability or not, but rather willingness or obedience.

You see, God’s charge to us this last days is to reach out to the unsaved. He wants us to testify of His goodness and to make Jesus known to the entire world.

God has put the world’s transformation on the wheels of the gospel. You must know that, the name of Jesus needs to be exalted so that many can be saved.

As a Christian, God has chosen and equipped you with the word and power to preach. You have been given power to function. Refuse shyness, fear and laziness from hindering you.

Be ready to preach the word both in season and out of season. Don’t be ashamed to preach the Gospel, because it releases power (Roman 1:16) that brings salvation and healing. Receive the grace to be a carrier of God’s message!

Read: 2 Timothy 4:2 “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine”

Prayer: Lord, I pray that the witnessing power will always be with me to testify of your goodness.
