DON’T LEARN THE HARD WAY.

Proverbs 9:9
Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

Real life experience always reveals that people can either learn the easy way or in a hard way.

Learning the easy way simply means getting things done by following the wisdom that had produced results. It also means hearkening to instruction and direction to get “somewhere” without troubles.

On the other hand learning the hard way involves suffering unnecessarily by doing something without following a reasonable and timely instruction given.

Nonetheless, there are some people who always want to learn the hard way. They tend to end up in life’s school of “hard knocks”. Such people find themselves in challenging and serious hardships which could have been avoided by listening to a godly and a wise advise counsel.

You see, No matter who you are, you can put yourself in a tight corner if you don’t easily follow instructions.

Sometimes it is better to learn by having knowledge imparted to you than to learn from a bad experience.

For instance, you must not be diagnosed of an incurable disease just because you allowed your feelings to send you on a pleasure fair in sexual immorality before you learn to stay holy. This is nothing but a hard way to learn.

It is best you avoid going to the school of “hard knocks”. Some bad and hard experiences will only steal your joy and kill you at the end of the day.

Hearken to a godly counsel and stop living like you know it all. The bible says that “lean not on your own understanding”. Break the spirit of pride and foolishness that may want to control you and follow wise counsel

Read: Proverbs 9:9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for wisdom and grace to learn in life by following wisdom and instructions that has produced results.

DECISION MOMENTS.

Hebrews 11: 24- 25
“By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season”

Decision making is one principal activity in life. No one can avoid making decisions. Thus, refusing to “make a decision” is a decision.

You see, your decisions define you. No wonder some say decision moments are defining moments. How your life will turn, and the aftermath whether positive or negative hinges on your decisions.

The Bible says of Moses that when he had grown up refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. Rather, he decided what he wanted to be called (that has to do with his identity), what alliances to uphold, and what pleasures to forsake.

Moses’s decision moment revealed two important things. One is maturity and the second is the God factor. As Christians these two things must be our guidepost in decision making. Maturity here refers to your level of understanding and your readiness to accept responsibility. While the God factors speak of your reverence for God as to what you want to do or not do.

You see, you can’t make salient decisions in life with immaturity. It will cost you! Today many Christians have run aground their lives because they acted immaturely when matters of destiny were at stake on the decision table. Others too have ruined their lives because they made decisions for temporary pleasure against a great and a promising future God has for them.

Yes, you must make decisions in life. But be guided. Give matters a second thought, a further consideration, and evaluation of potential outcomes. Not only that, but you must also place a premium on godliness when making decisions.

Destiny matters are not matters you can toy with. Everyone will carry the consequences of the decisions they make- whether it be good or bad. Whether it is a decision about career, emigration, relationship, marriage, ministry, etc., remember that it is a defining moment in your life. A careless move can turn things sour in your life and a thoughtful move can send you into bliss.

Read: Proverbs 16:25 “There is a way which seems right to a man and appears straight before him, but its end is the way of death”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for the grace to make wise decisions for my life.

DON’T FAIL WHEN YOU ARE TEMPTED.

Mathew 6:13
“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen”

Temptations come to everyone. Mathew chapter 4 reveals how Jesus was tempted in the course of fulfilling his heavenly mandate. This shows that no one is above temptation.

Not failing when you are tempted demand great understanding. You must first know the source and the methods by which temptation comes. You must understand that temptations are worked out and backed by the devil with the sole purpose of derailing you from your belief to cause you to sin.

As a Christian, God expects you to be ready against temptation and not be taken unawares by it.
Apostle Paul in teaching admonishes that, “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (1 Corinthians 10:12,13).

Never presume you are beyond temptation because of your spiritual height or “level” in the faith. As a matter of fact, the devil’s main targets are those who ‘presume’ they are standing. Rather, take heed.

Be careful of who you associate with, be careful of what really interests you and the things you desire for. The devil will not tempt you with things that are unfamiliar with you. On the contrary, your biggest temptations would come from the things that are common to you. Things you are familiar with, your familiar places and your familiar desires.

Pray and put your desires in line with God’s word and you will win in the face of any temptation

Read: James 1:14 “But every man is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace and wisdom to detect and overcome every temptation that comes my way.

BELIEVE IN MIRACLES

Luke 1:37
For with God nothing shall be impossible.

Miracles are real. You can experience one in life. Miracles are not meant for some special people. Every Child of God can key in into the miracle working power of God to experience wonderful things in life.

A miracle is a supernatural happening. It is about God releasing His grace and power in the natural to do what is humanly impossible for his children. That is why MIRACLES don’t make “sense” in the natural. Yet it’s results are undeniable.

As Christians, we have already received one incredible miracle which is the new life we have. You see, to be born again is a miracle. It is a supernatural happening that brings God’s very life into you.

Nonetheless, that is not the end. You can still experience or have miracles all round in your life. You can receive a miracle in your health, you can receive a miracle in your finances, you can receive a miracle in your education, and in your family

Don’t let “awkward situations” scare you out of life. You are a Child of a miracle working God. You serve a God of awesome wonders.
Only believe! Remember that, what is impossible with mere men is possible with God.

Get ready for a new thing from God.
Get ready for a miracle, for with God all things are possible.

Isaiah 43:19 says, “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert”.

Prayer: Lord, I thank you for opening up to a miraculous life.

MAKE THE MOST OF THE TIME.

Ephesians 5:16
Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Ephesians 5:16 according to the Contemporary English Version says “These are evil times, so make every minute count.” Other versions also renders it as follows:
“Make good use of every opportunity you have, because these are evil days” and “making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil”.

Making the most of the time is simply making good use of every opportunity that God allows into your way.
It is important to know that your blessing is in the opportunity that the Lord brings to you. Letting a divine opportunity go down the drain is just equal to missing a blessing.

The Bible says the days are evil therefore make use of the time you have today.
Meaning that catch the opportunity to escape from difficulty.
You see, every stage of life gives you some opportunities. All you have to do is to take hold of it and make the best out of it.

Growing up in life as a young person offers great opportunities. These may include opportunities to develop yourself spiritually, to build a solid character, to invest into your future, to connect to a mentor and to also educate yourself on various subject matters.
Not doing anything about all these opportunities just renders you “powerless” in life.

When you make the most of the time or take the chances you get serious, you put yourself on the route to greatness.
Always attach some degree of urgency to life and you will make it. People who take divine opportunities lightly never achieve much in life for God.

Prayer: Lord, I pray that you will open my eyes to see every opportunity at every given time and grant me the grace to make the most out it.

BUILD YOUR SPIRIT

Ephesians 2:1
And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

One truth that you must know as a Christian is that, man is a spirit. The “real you” is a spirit. So you are first and foremost a spirit, but you have a soul and you live in a body.
Your body is only a tent you live in. Thus, seeing yourself as a “body” or as “natural being” will limit your divine life.

You see, man is supernaturally natural. That is, you are a divine being with the ability to express yourself in the natural.
This is why it is important to give priority to your spirit, and build it up.

Your spirit is made alive when you get saved. Ephesians 2:1 says “And you hath he quickened , who were dead in trespasses and sins”.
But doing nothing about your spirit which is the real you puts you in the class of the “natural” or the “ordinary”.

You need to constantly engage yourself in meditating on the word of God, praying in the spirit, fasting, and fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit to build your spirit. You see, your spirit feeds on God’s infallible word and not stories or fables.

Believers who are lazy, never make progress in nurturing their spirit. It takes hard work and great discipline to build your spirit. You can’t make progress spiritually when you prefer unnecessary chatting to studying, praying and meditating on God’s word.

You must make time out of your busy schedule to study the word, pray in the spirit and worship to build your spirit. This is something you must learn to do as an individual.
Don’t wait to be in Church before you do these things.

Build yourself spiritually and you will always triumph in life.

Read: 1 Peter 2:2
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.

Prayer: Lord I pray for grace to always endeavor to build and quicken my spirit.

WITHIN OR WITHOUT

Matthew 23:25-26
“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.”

It is important you place priority on who you are on the inside or what goes on within you. As Christians, the quality of lives and the virtues we live out is from within.

In our opening text, Jesus spoke to the Pharisees of his days to focus on who they are on the inside and not to waste time on external attributes which was driven by the way they dress, and outdoor duties they carried out.

You see, just focusing on your outward attributes, or what you want men to see of you, can get you into error. It can also make you miss God.

Always strive to put your life right from within. Although people may not see it, that’s where God watches. Whether you will get it right or wrong as a Christian, it will be from your inside- your heart.

Don’t allow any form of negative thoughts to dominate you within. Use God’s word and the voice of the Holy Spirit as your guide to put your heart and mind right with God. Never be carried away by only outward attributes.

Read: 1 Samuel 16:7 “But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the LORD sees not as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to put things right from my heart. Help me keep my heart in line with your word. Amen

ACCEPT REBUKES AND CHANGE.

Proverbs 1:23
”Repent at my rebuke! Then I will pour out my thoughts to you, I will make known to you my teachings“.

Rebukes are blessings in disguise. Inasmuch as you may not feel comfortable when rebuked, it does not undermine the fact that, rebukes are unimportant.

A rebuke simply is a sharp disapproval or criticism of a behaviour or action that’s inappropriate. Thus, for us as Christians, a rebuke offers the opportunity to reconsider one’s actions to make sure they are consistent with godliness or God’s word.

You see, whenever you are rebuked, your first response must not be anger or offense. Rather, you must respond to rebukes with repentance. That’s the truth revealed in our opening text. It says “repent when you are rebuked”. It is wrong or unwise to look down on rebukes or get annoyed by it.

Whether you are rebuked by the Holy Spirit in you, God’s word, your parents, teachers or pastors, accept it in good faith and change for the better. When you easily accept rebukes, you create room to receive better instructions of wisdom that can make your life better.

Never outgrow rebukes. Never respond to rebukes with quarrels or anger because it will deny you the opportunity to enhance your life.

Read: Proverbs 29:1 ”He who hardens his neck and refuses instruction after being often reproved (corrected, criticized), Will suddenly be broken beyond repair”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to respond appropriately whenever I am rebuked.
