THE WORD OF GOD IS FOR YOUR BENEFIT.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
“All scripture is given by the inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction and for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect thoroughly furnished unto all good works”

The written word is solely for our benefit. The benefit you will get from the word of God outweighs any cost or time spent on it. Anytime spent studying the word is worth the reward.

The word of God helps us in our walk with God and teaches us the way to be blessed. Micah 6:8 says “He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God”

This is why you must make time to learn the word of God. You must be full of the word if you want to excel in this life. Romans 15:4 says “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope”. Learning God’s word will inspire hope in you. From the word, you will know that your future as a Child of God is bright. This will let you move on even when you are faced with challenges.

The word of God is the well of knowledge to guide our lives. In fact, it is the manual for living well in this world.

The believer who does not make God’s word supreme in his or her life will be hindered by many things in this world. One thing you must understand is that the devil will always take advantage of what you don’t know. Learn God’s word daily. Learn it and be ever ready to apply it.

Never substitute the opinions of men for the word of God. Know that God’s word will never fail and will surely bring you into a glorious destination.

Read: 2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray that as I receive your word, I will enjoy all the benefits that accompanies it. In Jesus name. Amen!

PROSPERITY BY HARD WORK

Proverbs 12:24
“The hand of the diligent will rule but the negligent and lazy will be put to forced labour.”

It is the will of God that all His children prosper. But this does not just happen. God has ordained that we prosper by working as Christians. That is why the Bible teaches that the diligent soul will be made fat and prosperous.

See Proverbs 13:4, “The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat” The New Living Translation of the Bible renders it more clearly, “Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper”.

Thus, it is not only a fact that prosperity comes by diligence, but it is also the truth since God’s word says so. Without diligence or hard work, many things won’t go well in your life. Most things will work well if only people will be diligent in their endeavours. As a Christian, you must know that God has blessed you with the ability to work things out. Thus, anytime you deploy your strength to work hard at things it receives the blessings of the Lord (Deuteronomy 28:11). Your input receives a supernatural touch to produce tremendous results.

In Genesis 1 and 2, the Bible reveals the work to rest ratio of God. He worked six days putting things in great order and rested only on one. The ratio was therefore six to one. Genesis 2:2 says “And on the seventh God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh from all his work which he had made” Therefore after six days of hard work, the Bible described the results as “very good”. Genesis 1:31 says “And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth”.

Things become “very good” when you work. Remember that, before then, the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep (Genesis 1:1). So working on things to make them better is one attribute that the Bible revealed about God in creation. That is one more reason why the hardworking person will be made fat, increase, prosper and see something very good in life because that’s the divine order from creation. Therefore anytime you practice laziness, you deny yourself of great blessings in life.

Refuse to be lazy in life. Refuse to do little when it is possible to work harder to make things better.

Remember that laziness can’t give you a beautiful destination. Work hard in all the endeavours of your life and you will see “very good” things in your life.

Proverbs 12:24
The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.

Prayer: Lord, I ask for more grace, strength and wisdom to be exceptionally hard working as I desire to prosper in life.

BE STRONG IN THE LORD.

Ephesians 6:10-18
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armourof God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil”

The Christian walk demands that you exercise some toughness and power in dealing with the issues of life. Until that, you can’t fully enjoy your rights and privileges as a Child of God.

Matthew 11:12 says “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent “take it by force”. So, for you to take delivery of your possessions as a Child of God, you must remain strong in faith.

You can’t live like a weakling and make it in this evil doomed world. You must marshal your spiritual strength to pave way through the storms of life. No matter the challenge you encounter, radically engage your faith to lay hold on your bright and glorious future.

Always stay strong in the Lord, and having done all to stand, stand. Never give up at all.

Like the days of old, when the people of God had to get into their promised land, through the force of faith. They refused to succumb to the giants. They spoke and took bold steps. See their words, “And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it”(Numbers 13:30).

Stand on the promises of God and never waiver. That’s how to be strong in the Lord.

Read: Ephesians 6:10-18 “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints”.

Prayer: Father, I pray that my faith in you will be stronger and stronger as the days goes by in Jesus mighty name. Amen!

POWER OVER THE ENEMY.

Luke 10:19
“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you”.

Matthew 18:18 also says “Verily I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven”.

From the above scripture, it is evident that the child of God is endued with power. No Christian is powerless. Irrespective of when you got born again, you have the divine power of God. The power is in you. It is ignorance that makes room for believers to think that they are powerless. Nonetheless, until you exercise this power you will be powerless in life.

Christians who don’t use the power available to them won’t see things working the way they are supposed to. If you don’t walk in your “power realm” devils will play in your territory.

1 Peter 5:8-9 says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world”. You see, if you allow the devil, he will run things to your detriment.

With the power of God in and on your life, you must not watch on for the devil mess your family, finances, relationship, marriage, ministry, career, education, and any blessing you have received from the Lord. Don’t resort to tears and cries when dealing with the devil, engage the power of God in you.

Stand your grounds and release the power of the Lord to change things in and around your life. Use the word and vehemently pray to oppose contrary forces against your life now and in the future.

Change things! You have the power!

Read: Luke 10:19 “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you”.

Prayer: Father, I thank you for the power in me. As I engage this power, I change things to my favour in Jesus name. Amen!

GOD WILL WATCH YOUR HEART.

1 Samuel 16:7
“But the Lord said unto Samuel, look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature, because I have refused him; for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.”

Proverbs 4:23 says “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it”.

Your heart is key in all that you do. Proverbs 4:23 reveals that everything you do emanates from your heart. This is why you must mount guard on your heart.

People who don’t put their heart right will miss a lot in their walk with God. God observes the state of your heart when dealing with you. Psalms 33:14-15 says “From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth. He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth their works.”

The state of the hearts of Jesses children made God rejected them for the position of kingship (1 Samuel 16:6-12). Beloved, the state of your heart determines whether you will be endorsed by God or not.

It is without doubt that you can deceive men with your actions, but God knows the true state of your heart. He knows your motive (why you are doing what you are doing or why you are not doing something). Never live a lie. Know the state of your heart. Don’t pretend in any way. When you see that your heart is pondering on evil or not perfected before God, simply put things right. But the best thing to do is to always guard your heart.

Jesus once asked some people about the state of their heart. See Matthew 9:4: “And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore, think ye evil in your hearts?”. Never let the condition of your heart make you miss God’s best for your life.

Please watch your heart.

Read: 1 Samuel 16:7 “But the Lord said unto Samuel, look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart”.

Prayer: Lord, help me to guard my heart against anything that will cause me to be disqualified in your sight. In Jesus mighty name. Amen!

YOU ARE A SALT AND A LIGHT TO YOUR WORLD.

Matthew 5:13
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has lost its taste (purpose), how can it be made salty? It is no longer good for anything, but to be thrown out and walked on by people”

Our opening verse says we (believers) are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Thus, as salt, we preserve and as light, we bring illumination. This is what makes us a blessing.

Being a blessing to the world as a Christian involves you getting sinners saved by preaching the gospel to them. This is the only way we can preserve the lives of people or deliver people from eternal damnation. No other blessing can be compared to this. It is the main blessing that unlocks all others. This is the blessing that God wants every Christian to give to the unsaved.

Secondly you can be a blessing by letting your light shine. Your life which reflects, the virtues and values of the Christian faith must be seen by all. By this you stir up and sharpen the other members of the body of Christ to walk worthy of the call.Ephesians 4:1-3 also says “I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (NKJV).

You see, to be a blessing to the body of Christ, you must not do anything out of selfish ambition. You must know that God has a plan for every one of His children, so you must not do anything to derail anyone already in the faith. Your actions and inactions must therefore bless and help others move from strength to strength in their walk with God.

This is one important reason why you must be concerned about how you live as a Christian in the church and in the world. Your faith and piety must challenge someone in the positive direction. But if you become a source of a “wrong example” to other folks in the Church you are more of a curse than a blessing.

You see, folks must see you and learn to respect the things of God. The respect you give to God and your fear of him can be a great guide to help folks walk worthy of their call and make it to heaven. Be determined to let your life bless others. People going to hell should not continue after “meeting” you. Also, people who are “wishy-washy” in Church must be encouraged to live a holy life, fear God, serve God well, and put up a godly character after meeting with you.

Read: Matthew 5:13 “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray that my life will be a blessing and not a curse to the world. Amen!

OUR MISSION IS MISSIONS.

Matthew 28:19-20
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.”

The mission of soul winning is God’s mandate to every believer. Charles Spurgeon, the old English preacher once said “If sinners will be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. And if they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, at least let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions and let not one go there unwarned and unprayed for.”

Soul winning or evangelism is something every Christian must take to heart. It must be our life’s mission. Christians must do everything and anything in their power to get people saved. Jesus said we should go and make disciples of all nations.

Soul winning is the duty of anybody that is saved and not a reserved ministry for pastors or a “man of God”. God expects every Christian to be on an errand with the gospel of salvation.

You see, no matter your status or situation in life, because you are born again, you have a mission or a heavenly assignment to fulfil. God wants all men saved. 1 Timothy 2:4 says, “Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth”. If you neglect soul winning, you have neglected God’s main business for your life.

Don’t remain unconcerned about the fate of sinners. Don’t keep the “truth” that can save a sinner from hell. Teach the gospel of salvation with all your heart and seriousness. Be on the move to bring others to Christ.

Make a solemn pledge to be part of the team of soul winners reaching out to people with the Gospel. That is a sure way to the fulfilment of life.

Read: Jude 23 “And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for a compassionate heart to reach out to the unsaved In Jesus mighty name. Amen!

MIX THE WORD WITH FAITH.

Hebrews 4:2
“For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it”

Hearing God’s word and doing nothing with it or about it makes the word void. The word of God profits the believer anytime it is engaged by faith. 2 Timothy 3:16 tells that “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness”.

You see, how profitable God’s word becomes is dependent on how you relate to the word. Our opening text says, “the word preached did not profit them (the hearers), because they didn’t mix the word with faith”. That’s to say that they didn’t take a step of faith in the direction of the word.

God’s word is the source of faith and every kind of blessing you need in life. Nonetheless, you must act on it to bring what it promises or the “profits” into manifestation.

When Moses the prophet of God, led the Israelites from Egypt to the Promised Land, most of them did not believe the word of God concerning their deliverance. They rather gave in to murmuring, complaints and comparison till most of them were destroyed except Joshua, Caleb, and some few others.

Numbers 14:29-30 says “Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me, Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun”. Just as the word on and of their deliverance did not profit them because of lack of faith, same can be said of people who hear the gospel today.

The attitude that makes a person to see God’s best is hearing the word and engaging one’s faith by acting on it. God’s word has what it takes to deliver on whatever it says. Believe in it and engage its principles to be blessed.

Never be casual with God’s word. Take it seriously. Meditate on it daily, let it be your confession and practice. That is how to connect to the power in the word for it to produce awesome results in your life.

Read: Hebrews 4:1-3 “Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray that as I attach faith to your word, my profiting will manifest. In Jesus mighty name. Amen!

YOU HAVE POWER FROM GOD.

2 Timothy 1:7
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power and of love and of a sound mind”

Power is the capacity or ability to direct or influence the behaviour of others or the course of events. It is also the ability to do things in life. Thus, it is through power that we get things done.

One beautiful thing about having power is that it gives strength and courage. These two dominant forces plays a critical role in life.

As Christians we need power to persevere in life. Without power, you will not be able to do exploits. Power makes you fearless, daring, or audacious. These qualities are what we need to exercise to carry out our divine mandate.

Most often than not, the circumstances that sometimes surround us in the pursuit of our purpose demands that we exercise power.

It is important to know that pursuing any God-given agenda sometimes exposes you to “denials” and “betrayals”. Joseph, the son of Jacob had to deal with rejection and denials from his own brothers on his way to the top. The fact that he didn’t give in or even commit suicide in those trying times reveals the inner courage he carried- that’s the real expression of power.

Engage the power you have from the Lord and never faint in the day of adversity. Proverbs 24:10 says, “If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small”.

As believers we can build and enhance the power we have by word study, prayer and exercising our faith in the word.

Don’t run away or give up on your God-given purpose because you are faced with a challenge. Be strong and move forward. Like David, move through the troop and run over the wall (Psalm 18:29).

Read: 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind”.

Prayer: Father, I pray that the spirit of boldness that dwells in me will always be activated against any spirit of fear that will rise against me

SIN BRINGS SICKNESS

Psalms 38:3
“There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.”

The connection between sin and sickness is something the Child of God must fully understand.

The Bible reveals that sin is one major cause of sickness. Psalm 107:17 says, “Some became fools through their rebellious ways and suffered affliction because of their iniquities”. Other versions say, “Others were foolish. They suffered (became sick) because of their sins”.

Living in sin makes you vulnerable to all kinds of sickness. This is because sin breaks your fellowship with God and brings you out of His divine covering. Meaning that living in sin as a Christian- no matter the justification you give breaks the hedge of God around you.

Sin gives the devil easy access to your life to afflict you with sickness which is incipient death. Ecclesiastes 10:8 says “…and whoever breaks a hedge, a serpent shall bite him”.

You see, you must understand that living in disobedience or sin will cost you a lot. Give no place for any sin to thrive in your life. Don’t lie, don’t steal, and don’t gossip about people. Give no room to any sexual sin that is so prevalent in this generation. Close the door to pornography, fornication, masturbation, and lustful thinkings.

Jesus once healed a man who was taken ill and instructed him not to sin again lest a worst thing will come to him. See John 5:14, “Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.”

If you want to live in divine health have nothing to do with sin. Learn to walk worthy with the Lord and never break your fellowship by living in sin.

Read: Psalm 107:17, “Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to turn away from every sinful life that will destroy my fellowship with you. Amen
