HONOR MINISTERS OF THE GOSPEL.

1 Timothy 5:17
Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.

Honouring ministers of the gospel is a must and not a suggestion. You can’t take ministers of the gospel for granted and be blessed by their ministries. You must honour them by obeying the word of God they teach, not speaking evil about them and giving to them out of your substance.

Jesus said in Mark 6:4 that “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and among his own relatives and in his own household”. The above verse in the gospel of Mark was the response Jesus gave to his kinsfolk when they could hardly accept his ministry.

You see, Jesus’s response in Mark 6: 4 also reveals one truth that a prophet is not without honour.

For instance, in the case of Jesus, even though he was God-sent to redeem humanity, he was not accepted by his own. Instead of them appreciating and honoring the grace of God, they subjected it to criticism. They knew Jesus so much that they could not accept him as God-sent. There are many folks today like that. They find it difficult to relate spiritually with ministers of the gospel. Instead, they criticize them because they know them either through family relations or friendship.

The Shunamite woman in 2Kings 4 understood the truth of honoring a man of God. See 2 Kings 4:9-10, “She said to her husband, “I know that this man who often comes our way is a holy man of God. 10 Let’s make a small room on the roof and put in it a bed and a table, a chair and a lamp for him. Then he can stay there whenever he comes to us.”

Learn from the shunamite woman. Know or perceive men of God that comes your way and bless them with your substance.

Never become ignorant of loving, serving, and giving back onto the men of God who pastor you. Do not become critical and stingy in blessing your Pastor. As a matter of principle learn to relate well with ministers of the gospel.

Read: 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 “And now, friends, we ask you to honor those leaders who work so hard for you, who have been given the responsibility of urging and guiding you along in your obedience. Overwhelm them with appreciation and love!”

Prayer: Lord, I pray I don’t get familiar with ministers of God. Help me to appreciate and honor them in Jesus Name. Amen

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU HEAR.

Mark 4:24
“And he said unto them Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given”.

What you allow into your ears has the power to make you or destroy you. You can be imparted negatively or positively from what you hear. Thus, the instruction from Jesus is very crucial.

Just as the Bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God so also does unbelief comes from hearing words of men and the devil. Anything you hear or allow into your mind comes with something. If you allow the word of God into your ears it will build faith, courage and give you a sound mind. On the other hand, if you also allow the ungodly opinions of men and the voice of the devil into your ears it will build fear and unbelief in you.

Don’t just allow people to say all kinds of things around you, especially when it is not inclined towards building you up. If you allow talks of fear, sin, and doubt, your life will follow suit. It does not matter which channel is bringing you what message, always be guided by wisdom before you pay heed.

Carefully select the songs you give your ear to. Be mindful of words or statements people will make going forward around you and you can be assured of an unending flow of grace in your life.

Read: Ephesians 4:29, “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.”

Prayer: Lord. I pray for grace to safeguard myself against wrong words.

SPEAK THE WORD.

Matthew 8:8
“The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed”

Anytime you speak God’s word or confess the word out of faith, it brings awesome results. The Bible tells how Jesus was called upon by a Roman centurion to help his sick servant. But on his way to the home of the centurion to heal the servant, the centurion demanded that He only “Speak the word” and that the servant shall be healed.

Matthew 8:8 “The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed”. In reply to the request of “speak the word” Jesus said unto the centurion, “Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee”. The Bible says that the servant was healed in the self-same hour.

You see, you cannot undermine the power of the word. It has what it takes to turn negative situations around and bring into existence whatever you proclaim. The word of God on the lips of the believer is a change agent. It solves every issue of man.

As simple as you will see it, God’s word can chart the course of your life. You can speak the word of God to every situation you encounter in life. You can speak the word into your spiritual life, you can speak the word into your education, you can speak the word into your finances, you can speak the word into your marriage. Nothing is beyond reach whenever you release the word of God.

Instead of crying, complaining, or murmuring about the issues of life, Speak the word. Believe that the word can do what it says. Believe the healing the word talks about, believe the prosperity, believe the deliverance and you will always live in triumph.

Read: Psalm 107:20, “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”

Prayer: Heavenly father, I pray that your word will always be on my lips that I may speak it to every situation in my life. In Jesus name. Amen

DON’T FORGET TO PREPARE FOR THE COMING OF THE LORD.

Hebrews 10:37
“For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry”

One of the most important things to prepare for in life is the coming of the Lord. The coming of Jesus is one of the final and important events that the world will encounter.

Christ coming is sure and very certain, just as night follows the day. Thus, it is a wise thing to prepare for it. The Bible says, “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God…”.

In another place it says, “For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry” (Hebrews 10:37). Don’t be deceived at all on the coming of Christ. It is so close than you can ever think of.

Always live with eternity in mind. That is the only way you can be sure of your preparation. The Bible talks about the days of Noah that before the flood, “People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage then the flood came and destroyed them all”. (Luke 17:26-27). The people in Noah’s days forgot about the crucial moment they were living in and had no sense of urgency.

Just like the days of Noah, those who will miss the day of Christ’s coming will be due to lack of preparation. To make it during the coming of Jesus, always STAY ALERT. Be careful of the things you do and the things you don’t do. Make sure you are in sync with God’s will for your life and you are also living in total obedience to God’s word.

Know that, every now and then, the clock is moving towards its end for eternity to set in for those who are prepared. How prepared are you for the coming of the Lord today? Are you living out your purpose, or you are following the fleeting fantasies of this world that will soon come to a sad end.

Be careful how you live your life. Don’t prepare for your career and live eternity. Don’t prepare for your marriage and live eternity with the Lord. Don’t prepare for financial prosperity and forget about preparing for Heaven. Don’t prepare for your education and ignore preparing for rapture.

In these last days, take your faith in the Lord serious and never cast away your faith which has a great recompense. Never let the world’s system or the worldly pleasures corrupt and contaminate you. That will bring you to a sad ending – that is, missing Heaven.

Remember that anyone who refuses to prepare for the coming of Jesus or eternity will end up in misery because they will miss the opportunity to be raptured.

Read:1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 “For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven with a shout of command, with the voice of the archangel and with the [blast of the] trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain [on the earth] will simultaneously be caught up (raptured) together with them [the resurrected ones] in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord! (AMP)

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to always prepare for your coming. Amen

REIGN IN LIFE.

Romans 5:17
“For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.”

The place of the Child of God in this world is not a miserable place. Ephesians 2:6 says “And hath raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus”. As a Christian, you have a place of honor in life. It came by the finished work of Christ on the cross. This is why you can’t go through life, with your head down. But until you engage the word to reign, your dignity from the accomplished work of Jesus will be toyed with.

God has strategically positioned you in life to reign. The Bible says we live in Him, move in Him, and are also made complete in him. You see, being in Christ gives you the power and privilege to be in charge. You must reign here on earth and not in heaven. Revelation 5:10 says “And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth”.

When you reign, you dominate the issues of life to bring results and deliver on excellence in all that you do. Folks who reign never become victims of failure and circumstances.

You see, sin, sickness and failure must be a thing of the past for the child of God. The Bible says in Isaiah 53:5 that “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed”. Again the Bible says sin must not have dominion over you. (Romans 6:14). Live with this consciousness and you will see your life move from glory to glory.

Read: Ecclesiastes 8:4 “Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?”

Prayer: Lord, I declare that I reign in life. I live above every circumstance. I will not fail in life, sickness shall not have dominion over me. In Jesus Name, Amen

THE WORDS BRINGS STRENGTH AND HEALTH.

Psalm 119:107
“I am afflicted very much: quicken me, O Lord , according unto thy word”.

God’s word is the greatest antidote for anything that wants to afflict your body. God has made his word available for every Christian to have a sound life – spirit, soul and body, and He is also concerned about your well-being physically.

The Bible teaches that, God’s word is a remedy to any bodily ailment. Thus, with the word, you can put into order and cause any organ, tissue or cell that’s not responding properly to function effectively.

You see, God’s word is not just grammar or mere words put together. It is spirit, and it is life. John 6:63 “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” This makes God’s word a quickening agent. It brings life and revitalization to every dead situation.

The word is so powerful that it causes sick people to receive strength and healing. Not only that, but miracles also happen at the proclamation of the word. The truth is that God’s word turns things around for good. The word is a genuine source of power. The Bible says the word brings results whenever it is deployed.See Isaiah 55:10-11: “For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it”

Be addicted to studying the word. Engage its principles in your daily walk and you will prosper in all that you do.

Anytime you see any challenge around you, go for the word, make it your daily meditation and confession. Sickness, diseases no matter their names will be destroyed by the power in the word.

Read: Psalm 107:20 “He sent His word and healed them, Andrescued them from their destruction” (AMP)

Prayer: I pray that as I read and hear your word I receive healing and divine strength for my body, In Jesus Name. Amen

DON’T LIVE WITH EXCUSES!

Proverbs 26:13
“The lazy person [who is self-indulgent and relies on lame excuses] says, “There is a lion in the road! A lion is in the open square [and if I go outside to work I will be killed]!” (AMP)

Many people who don’t amount to anything in life are most often “excuse lovers”. In fact, they have reasons to give for not doing what is required or needful on their part. As a Christian it is prudent for you to know that excuses never promote anyone to the top. In fact, if you always have reasons, or excuses for not doing what you “must” do, you are simply on the road of failures.

Many folks have made giving excuses part of their life that they still see nothing wrong with it. But you can’t travel with excuses and still get to your destination. Excuses will only make you irresponsible. The truth is that if you are not responsible, then you are not ready for life. You must learn to be responsible for everything that goes on in your life.

Never give room for excuses. Don’t play any blame games. Irrespective of how things will turn up in your life, you must never make room for excuses. Whether you are faced with tough and challenging moments, still be responsible and avoid making room for excuses.

Be eager to find a way to deliver on your mandate than to find reasons why you can’t do or didn’t do what you must do. The Bible talks about people who give reasons (excuses) for not working because of unfavorable weather conditions. It says that such folks will end as beggars. See Proverbs 20:4: “The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore, shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing”.

You see, instead of wasting your time looking for an excuse to give, rather find ways and means to deliver your mandate.

Read: Proverbs 26:15 “The lazy person buries his hand in the dish [losing opportunity after opportunity]; It wearies him to bring it back to his mouth. (AMP)

PRAYER: Heavenly father, I pray for grace to live a life devoid of excuses. I will be responsible for my life irrespective of how things may turn out. I will deliver on every mandate due me in Jesus Name, Amen

HAVE THE MIND TO WORK.

Nehemiah 4:6
“So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work”

Nothing can replace work. Words, ideas, philosophies, instructions, guidelines, what have you, until they are harnessed into action through “work” it is of no value. Words turned into action is what produces results and brings success.

The book of Nehemiah throws a great light on the value of work. It teaches that by working one can turn things around. In the book, we saw how Nehemiah took up the responsibility to rebuild the broken walls and gates of Jerusalem.

Prior to working on the wall and the gates of Jerusalem, Nehemiah had prayed, cried, and fasted but he didn’t end here (Nehemiah 1:3-4). He championed the course to get resources and people to get the job done by working.

Nehemiah 2:20 says “Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem”. This unrelenting and daring attitude brought their shattered town back to life because they had the mind to work. Nehemiah 4:6 says “So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work

You see, the principles revealed in the book of Nehemiah is timeless. First the book teaches that what you don’t work at, you can’t enjoy. It also shows that prayer and fasting have their place in the pattern of things but not a substitute for what your hands must do. Thus, as a Christian you must learn to work things out. Do something that will change the situation in your life, ministry, career, finances, marriage, and relationship, etc.

Don’t forget that Nehemiah had many options, he could have complained, he could have only prayed and fasted, he could have blame other people for the woes of the city but he didn’t give himself to any of these.

Take charge of your life. Don’t sit for things to go awry. Pray, fast, but don’t forget to work at things.

Read: Ecclesiastes 9:10 “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest”

Prayer: Lord, I pray that I will not be lazy. May I have the diligence to work at the things in my life that will bring me success, In Jesus Name. Amen

HOW TO GET RESULTS IN YOUR PRAYER LIFE.

1 Thessalonians 5:17
“Pray without ceasing”

Every child of God must be prayerful. The Bible teaches that, Christians must pray always and not to give up. On the other hand, praying always does not mean you will get results just by that. You must satisfy some biblical principles for your prayers to be answered.

For you to have results or receive answers to your prayer, you must pray in faith. When you pray with doubt in your heart you stop the flow of God’s power from working on your behalf (James 1:6-7).

Another way to have results in your prayer life is living in peace with one another, especially in a marital union. The bible teaches that Husbands, must learn to honour their wives as weaker vessels, and to dwell with them according to knowledge so that their prayers are not hindered. 1 Peter 3:7 says “Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered”. That’s to say that, not treating people well can hinder your prayers.

Last but not least is living right. You see, you have no business praying when you don’t want to live by the word, especially when your prayers are directed towards receiving blessings and supplies in life. Pastor Leonard Ravenhill of blessed memory once said, “You can’t live wrong and pray right.” The Bible says the ears of God are attentive to the prayers of the righteous. 1 Peter 3:12 “For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.”

Don’t just pray. Follow biblical principles alongside the prayers and you will see results.

Read: 2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Prayer: Lord, help me by the power of the Holy Spirit to live well for my prayer not to be hindered.

WIN SOULS BY YOUR BEHAVIOR.

1 Peter 3:1-2
“Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives”.

How you live can either influence people to serve God, obey God or have nothing to do with God. This is the point our opening scripture reveals. Many Christians have missed it when it comes to soul winning in their homes. In fact, the only place they prove their Christianity and faith in the Lord is in a local Church, but this is a sad situation.

Our opening text teaches how a wife, by submission to his own husband can influence him to obey the Lord. Although our world today goes with many philosophies, ideas and different concepts when it comes to wives submitting to their husbands, God’s word is supreme.

Wives must by every standard, go with the teaching of the word of God on submission. They must obey their husbands and subscribe to their leadership whole heartedly without rebellion. The Bible says, the God kind of submission in a family can touch husbands who don’t believe the word of God, to be turned to the faith. On submission the Bible enjoins wives to be like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord (1 Peter 3:6).

You see, a godly character, a noble character, has the power to win souls to the Lord. It brings people to the point of seeking the Lord. As Christians, we have a mandate to live out the virtues imparted to us by the word and the Holy Spirit. This has the power to touch lives for the Lord.

Remember that you must always be an example to the world, and it should be with the aim of leading people to Christ. Don’t live anyhow.

Read: Matthew 5:16, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to live well to bring others to your saving knowledge.
