NO REVENGE!

1Peter 3:9
“Not returning evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.”

In life, it is without doubt that you may suffer pain, hurt and other forms of ill treatment from people. Nonetheless, you must not do some or give same treatment to the people who caused you pain. Returning evil for evil is nothing but revenge.

Folks who seek revenge take an action to hurt or harm someone in return for an injury or wrong suffered at their hands.

As Christians, our dealings with people may not always bring a better outcome. Sometimes some actions of people may cause you trouble and your actions may also do same. These happenings call for walking in love towards one another than deciding to exercise vengeance. Every child of God must outgrow this “vengeance temptation”.

One best way to overcome this temptation is to always do good and expect nothing. This is because sometimes the “good” you did for people will be thrown into oblivion. You will be forgotten! In fact, you will be treated in an unfair manner by the people you once assisted. But none of these must make you repay them with evil.

1 Peter 2:23 had this to say about Jesus “While being reviled and insulted, He did not revile or insult in return; while suffering, He made no threats [of vengeance], but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges fairly. Never allow the wrongs people do to you after being good to them affect your life. Give no place for vengeance.

Always do good. Remember the wise saying of Mother Theresa “The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway. Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway. In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway. “

Read: Leviticus 19:18 “Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace and wisdom in my dealings with people. Help me to walk in love and never return evil for evil.

GIVE AND PROSPER.

Proverbs 11:24
“There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty”

Much of the poverty we see today in the body of Christ is nothing but the consequence of not giving. One biblical truth that brings prosperity is giving. Thus, when you don’t do anything about “giving” you will hardly become wealthy.

The act of giving has remained one of the core qualities that qualifies people to receive great wealth from the Lord. People who give get blessed. Proverbs 11:24 says, “One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty”

Don’t forget that prospering in life is linked to your ability to give to others. If you “scatter” blessings for other people to also benefit, you will increase in riches, wealth, and honour”. That is one way to prosper in life. The Bible says, it is more blessed to give (Acts 20:35).

If you want to prosper, you must be concerned about giving. Don’t withhold more than is right. It is a great deception to think that you can prosper by withholding or keeping things to yourself when there is a need you can generously answer to with your resources.

People who withhold more than is right will finally end up with nothing.
Always be willing to give generously to help people and to support the things of God with all seriousness. Know that, there are many people who are having a hard time in life because they don’t give to anyone and are not willing to give to support the work of God.

Be a conduit that God can use to transfer material blessings to other people and the Church at large and you will always increase. See a need today and meet it.

Read: Luke 6:38, “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to be a generous giver.

IMITATE GOOD THINGS

3 John 1:11
Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but [imitate] what is good. The one who practices good [exhibiting godly character, moral courage and personal integrity] is of God; the one who practices [or permits or tolerates] evil has not seen God [he has no personal experience with Him and does not know Him at all].

One major thing that characterizes our life is imitating things or people.
Everyone of us will one way or the other imitate or copy someone or something in life. This calls for wisdom so that one doesn’t imitate wrongly.

You see, as a Christian you have a duty to imitate that which is good. Irrespective of what people will say, you must stand your ground to copy something or someone who is godly, and with a virtuous life.

You must never succumb to the negative exposures you will see in life.

Imitate what is good or copy something of a godly character, or something that shows uprightness and is consistent with God’s word . Don’t just follow anything. Use God’s word as a guide and the voice of the Holy Spirit in you to know what to copy and what not to copy.

Read: 1 Corinthians 11:1 “Imitate me, just as I imitate Christ”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to always imitate the right things in life.

HUMILITY BRINGS PROMOTION

Luke 14:11
For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled [before others], and he who habitually humbles himself (keeps a realistic self-view) will be exalted.

No one can wear the crown of honour without being humble. How humble you are in life will determine how far you can go. It also determines what you can achieve and the doors that will be opened to you in life. Humility is such a great virtue that every Christian must cultivate. Proverbs 15:33 says “The fear of the LORD [is] the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility”.

Never think of being great if you can’t pay the price of humility. Humility is a factor that will make you learn from others, submit to an authority, and also give you a teachable spirit. I have discovered that as humans as we are, we have a high tendency of choosing to be proud than to be humble. But that is why God’s word is available,to recourse and to re-program our lives.

You see, it is a display of great WISDOM, when you decide to be humble and learn from others. Don’t become defiant and offended when corrected irrespective of your status.

Read: “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time”.(1 Peter‬ ‭5:6‬ ‭ASV)

Prayer: Lord, I pray for a heart of humility and the grace to live it out. Amen

RESIST THE DEVIL

James 4:7
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”

Your arch enemy as a Christian is the devil and not your fellow brother or sister. But you have all it takes to keep him out of your terrain. The Bible says, resist him.

The amplified version of the Bible puts our opening text this way, “So submit to [the authority of] God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him] and he will flee from you.” To resist means to stand against or to prevent something or someone from exerting its influence on you.

You see, God has given unto you all that pertains to life and godliness. You have power, and you carry an anointing as a child of God. These are your divine arsenals to ward off any demonic or satanic attacks in any form.

You see, you have the mandate to cast out devils or deal with any satanic onslaught against humanity. Don’t sit and cry or murmur.
No! Tears, and complaints don’t work in the battle field. You have to exercise your divine power.

Get to your knees, get to your prayer room, either by unknown tongues or words, lift up your defence and counter in the spirit against any works of darkness.

You see, your victory is always assured when you stand in faith against any onslaught of the devil.
Don’t give commentary about the devils stuff, rather give or announce your victory over the works of darkness.

Read: Ephesians 6:12 “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”

Prayer: Lord, thank you that I have power over the works of the enemy in Jesus name.

FINISH WHATEVER YOU START

Ecclesiastes 7:8
Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof…

It is a good thing to start new things in life, be it business, career, education, relationship or ministry. However, the most important thing is to finish it.

You see, its not only enough to start or initiate something, you must put in a finishing plan as well.

Thus, you must plan to start and plan to finish.
You were not called to do a half way job as a child of God.- Get to the finish line.

In fulfilling his ministry on earth, Jesus said in John 4:34;
“My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work”.
He was consumed with the passion of finishing the work he started on earth. He considered starting and finishing his work as a priority and his satisfaction.

Similarly, God has called you to start and finish many great things.
Some people started school and never completed it, others have abandon businesses, marriages and ministries to mention a few. But you must dare to finish what you have started by the inspiration of God.

Don’t let challenges and hard times throw you down or make you quit. Make up your mind to finish.
Press on till you get to the finish line.

Don’t stop half way!

Read: John 17:4
“I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do “.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to finish whatever assignment and mandate you inspire me to start.

IGNORANCE DESTROYS PEOPLE

Hosea 4:6
“my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. “Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.”

One simple way to destroy yourself in life is to remain ignorant of the truth.
You see, your success in life is dependent on your knowledge of the truth and its application. Thus, when you lack knowledge, you become prone to failure.

When you lack knowledge in whatever field you find yourself it brings negative consequences.

Christians who lack knowledge on their rights and privileges are held in bondage. Any time you walk in ignorance, you subject your life to suffering.
The Bible says “Therefore my people are gone into captivity because they have no knowledge (Isaiah 5:13).

Lack of knowledge, causes you to be mentally enslaved by wrong things or the deception of the devil.
You see, you can’t make it in life when you are mentally enslaved.

Rise out from the place of ignorance by seriously feeding on the right stuffs. Learn!
Learn the word of God. The Bible says honourable men like believers are famished because they have no knowledge (Isaiah 5:13).

Rise and study to show yourself approved unto God as a workman that needs not to be ashamed.

Read : Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to constantly give myself to studying to rise above ignorance. Amen

RENEW YOUR MIND

Romans 12:2
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God”.

The mind is a very crucial aspect of man. It is the centre that controls your thinking patterns that determines how you live. That’s why every Christian must know the rules of engagement when it comes to the mind so that we can be victorious in life.

The mind is the eye of a person. Thus what you see, process and accept in your mind will bring a certain character out of you. That’s why your mind needed to be renewed when you become born again.

Romans 12:2 says that;
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God”.

You see, living the life of God is only achieved by partnership with God. God’s mandate is to renew your spirit, and it is also your duty to renew your mind.

To renew your mind means bringing your mind to be in sync with God’s will and purpose through meditation on the word of God.

You must understand that, renewing your mind is a process. It doesn’t happen over night. It must be a daily affair. As you feed on God’s word daily and make practice of it, you gradually change the way your mind responds to the things of the world and God.

Until your mind is renewed, you can’t live out your new life experience as a believer.
Know that, it is only by a renewed mind that you can win the battle that the devil wages against you in the mental realm.

Read: Ephesians 4:22-23
“that, regarding your previous way of life, you put off your old self [completely discard your former nature], which is being corrupted through deceitful desires, [23] and be continually renewed in the spirit of your mind [ having a fresh, untarnished mental and spiritual attitude ],”

Prayer: Lord, I pray that my mind will be in sync with your will as I meditate on your word. Amen

BE TOUGH

Matthew 11:12
And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

The Christian walk demands that you exercise some toughness and power in dealing with the issues of life. This is the way you can fully enjoy your rights and privileges as a Child of God.
Jesus gave us the insight in his days on earth when He said, “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent “take it by force” (Matthew 11:12).

You see, you can’t live like a weakling and make it in this evil doomed world. No! Not at all. You need to be tough spiritually and mentally. You also have to engage the power of God in you through prayer and confession of the word to pave your way through the storms of life. You see, you can’t sit and cry to undo the storms of life. Radically engage your faith to lay hold on your bright and glorious future amidst the storms of life.

The storms of life may come in forms of wild temptations, trials and difficult moments, but stay strong, stand strong and having done all to stand, stand with all readiness and boldness. Never give up at all. Stand with full conviction in the power of God to get you over all these storms.

Remember Joshua and Caleb who stood their grounds, and refused to be intimidated by the presence of giants on their way to the Promised Land. They refused to succumb to the giants. See their words, “And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it”. (Numbers 13:30).

Beloved, no matter the challenge that comes your way, the Spirit of the Lord is saying, “you are well able to overcome”. Name the challenges: temptations, trails, difficulties, denials, rejections and all the like, but you are still able to overcome.

Read: Psalm 28:7 “The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray that you will stir in me the spirit of boldness and courage to be tough in every situation of life. In Jesus name. Amen

AVOID LIP SERVICE

Isaiah 29:13
“Then the Lord said, “Because this nation approaches [Me only] with their words And honors Me [only] with their lip service, But they remove their hearts far from Me, And their reverence for Me is a tradition that is learned by rote [without any regard for its meaning]”

Your relationship with God must be guided by your words, heart and corresponding actions. When you limit your relationship with God or Christian life to only “what you say” and don’t live by it, you are offering lip service.

God is not moved by lip service. As a matter of truth, you can’t have God’s best for your life when you don’t go beyond words into doing what you profess.

During his earthly life, Jesus once rebuked the people who were into lip service. Luke 6:46 says ” And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

Saying you are a Christian makes no difference to God until you live by his word. Move away from all the “talk show” and start living out the virtues of the Christian faith.

Never forget, God is not moved by empty words. Add sincere heart and actions to your worship and relationship with God.

Read: Luke 6:46 “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things” which I say?

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace and strength to offer worship to you with my words, heart and corresponding actions. Amen
