Courage, a factor for success.

Read: Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified or dismayed (intimidated), for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

Courage is what makes you break the difficulties of life and do what people dread. It simply means beating fear to do something different.

When you are courageous you don’t allow difficult tasks to overwhelm you. It gives you the urge not to give up when faced with challenging happenings.

The Bible talks about how God instructed Joshua to be strong and courageous when he was faced with the mandate to lead the Israelites after Moses.
See Joshua 1:6: “Be strong and confident, for you will give this people an inheritance, the land which I promise to their ancestors to give.”

Inasmuch as God chose Joshua, He expected him to show courage for the task ahead.

You see, one truth is certain, those who do not master courage, will never achieve anything in life.

The Bible says again that: “The sluggard says there is a lion out there, or I will be murdered in the streets”. (Proverbs 22:13)

The above verse explains that you will never get anything done if you allow the grip of fear. So until you are ready to face life’s challenges with courage, you cannot command any results in life.

Life’s journey will not always be favourable. You will not only be faced with situations you can handle. No! Challenging issues will stare and scare you in the face, but it will always take the courage to dare and win.

You see, courage is what helps you to stick your neck out when you could chose a comfort zone. Don’t remain in your comfort zone and do nothing. Be bold to move out and do what the Lord is telling you.

Wake up, be bold and take up the challenge. Carry the “I can do mentality”, and you will breakthrough. Remember that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.

Read: Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified or dismayed (intimidated), for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray that you will grant me the grace to be courageous and determined to succeed in life.

What are you hearing?

Mark 4:24
“And he said unto them Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given”.

What you allow into your ears has the power to make you or destroy you. You can be imparted negatively or positively from what you hear. Thus, the instruction “take heed what you hear”from Jesus is very crucial.

Just as the Bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God (Romans 10:17), so also does unbelief, fear and doubt comes from hearing words of men and the devil. Anything you hear or allow into your mind comes with something. It may be positive or negative.

If you allow the word of God into your ears it will build faith, courage and give you a sound mind. On the other hand, if you also allow ungodly opinions of men and the voice of the devil into your ears it will build fear and unbelief in you.

Don’t just allow people to say all kinds of things around you, especially when it is not inclined towards building you up. If you allow talks of fear, sin, and doubt, your life will follow suit. It does not matter what channel is bringing you what message, sooner or later you will begin to bear similar fruits.

Carefully select any avenue that releases words no matter the form of transmission. Whether through songs, discussions, conversations, etc. take heed because they have power to impart the quality of your life.

Read: Ephesians 4:29 “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers”.

Prayer: I pray for grace and wisdom to know the kind of conversions and words to yield to in Jesus Name. AMEN

DON’T BE LAZY, WORK AT SOMETHING!

Proverbs 12:24,
“The hand of the diligent will rule, but the negligent and the lazy will be put to forced labor”.

Diligence brings a person to the place of prominence whiles laziness will hide you behind the shadows. Thus, to be successful in life you must be diligent in all you do.

You see, laziness is one attitude or lifestyle that will hinder you from becoming successful in life. It will cause you to miss a lot of opportunities and breakthroughs.

Any time you give in to laziness you always try to avoid “work”. So anytime laziness becomes your bedfellow you hardly succeed in life.

Know that God wants to bless the works of your hand(Ephesians 4:28). You must always rise to the occasion and put in great efforts to whatever you are doing in life. Whether in serving the Lord, whether in your ministry, whether in your family, career, education, business, etc.

As a matter of fact, you can’t put more efforts into “sleep” and “unproductive activities” and expect to prosper or succeed in life. You must be up and doing in life before you can make it. Constantly engage yourself in productive things. Know when to work and when to rest or relax.

Most of the time, it is work or “labour” that brings favour. If you lazy about and never engage in fruitful ventures, you will end up a pauper in life. Understand that there is no incentive for being lazy. Laziness will make you a slave. Get up and work at something. Always put your efforts into productive things.

Read: Proverbs 12:24 “The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute”.

Prayer: Father, I pray for the grace to be serious in all that I do. I cancel any element of laziness that wants to dominate or influence my life, In Jesus name. Amen!

Receive correction!

Jeremiah 7:28
“But thou shalt say unto them, This is a nation that obeyeth not the voice of the Lord their God, nor receiveth correction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth”.

Correction helps to make things right after missing it. Without correction you may be going the wrong way with no restraint.Correction is therefore an important element in our walk with God.

Our opening scripture revealed how people failed to receive correction even though it was needed. You see, not receiving correction will keep you in a protracted error or mistake that will render you irrelevant in the world and in your walk with God.

Correction is not a demonstration of wickedness and hatred. It’s rather a sign of love. God finds delight in those he corrects. Proverbs 3:12 “For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.”

As a Christian, despising correction can even take away the covering of God over your life and make you vulnerable. The Bible says in Proverbs 15:10 that, “the one who hates correction will die”. It is very important to train your heart to receive correction. It will save you and make you fulfil destiny.

Never stay away from places that you can receive correction. Don’t run away from God’s word, don’t run away from your pastor, don’t run away from Church, and don’t run away from home. These are places that you can receive correction to make your life better.

Submit to correction no matter the cost.

Read: Proverbs 13:18 “Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray that I will submit to correction. I pray that the spirit of pride will not influence me. In Jesus name, Amen!

Live above circumstances

Ecclesiastes 11:4
“He who watches the wind [waiting for all conditions to be perfect] will not sow [seed], and he who looks at the clouds will not reap [a harvest]”

Life is full of circumstances. Some can be favorable, some too may not. Whatever the case, as a Christian you must learn to live above any ill circumstance. You must not pin yourself down because of the happenings in life.

One way to live above circumstances is to know what to give attention to in life. Know that some things – situations, or people are not worth your time. Thus, you must not live your life acting and responding to things you can one way or the other avoid.

Hear it again that “Not everything needs your attention”. You don’t have to respond to everything. Yes, some happenings must happen, but that’s how far they can go. You must not contribute to evil or the wrongs it comes with.

Learn to be guided by God’s word and the Holy Spirit to know what to do in every circumstance that may come your way. Don’t use circumstances you encounter to make decisions in life. Be guided by the Lord, lest you miss it in life.

The Bible talks about Isaac who during famine was still instructed by the Lord to work out the ground and sow. (Genesis 26:1-12). Instead of watching the circumstance that the land was barren or there was no rain, God instructed him to follow His word by sowing in that same land.

You may not have power over every circumstance, but you have the power to decide what to do in every circumstance by the help of the word and the Spirit. Always watch the word and act on it.

Read: Ecclesiastes 11:4 “He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap”.

Prayer: Father, I declare that my focus will be on you alone. Never again will situations and circumstance shift or take my attention. In Jesus name, Amen!

Learn to do good in life.

Proverbs 17:13,
“Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house”

As Christians we are admonished to do good to all men, and especially to other believers.

This truth notwithstanding, we also have an obligation to do good to people who have done us good in life. God’s word comes to us on this point with a caution that, we invite evil to our homes when we fail to do good in return to the good done to and for us.

Know that it is required of those to whom an act of kindness or goodness is shown not to give evil as a reward. Doing good in return is one way to express your gratitude. It also shows that you are a thoughtful person.

The good you have and must do to others who might have been a great blessing to your life may not necessarily be financial. It may be an act of good conduct and honour towards them. It also involves not doing things that will bring them any form of disadvantage.

You see, you must always have it at heart to relate well to the people that God has used and is still using to bless your life. This can be your siblings, parents, pastor, or friends. People who have done you good must not be rewarded by evil from your hands.

It is not love to be wicked towards people who have once sacrificed their comfort for your achievements in life. Whatever the occasion may be, “render good” for the good you have once enjoyed.

It is strange that we have people who are wicked towards their parents. They now fight and pray against their parents who once helped them, fed them, schooled them, and trained them. Others also fight and malign pastors that God used to get them saved and transformed.

Be guided by God’s word and do good to all men especially the ones that God used and is still using to bless you.

Read: Galatians 6:10 “As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith”.

Prayer: Father, I declare the I will do good and not evil in return for every good done to me, in Jesus mighty name. Amen

Do you want to see good days?

1 Peter 3:10
“For, “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech”

It’s the desire of every rational person to enjoy life and see good days. But the desire to see good days or have the best in life does not necessarily make that happening a reality.

Good days are days when you are living in health, when your finances are intact, when your home is full of peace and love and your heart is at peace with the Lord.

God’s word gives a clear prescription to seeing good days in life.

The first is, keep your tongue from evil. The second is to keep your tongue from deceitful speech. Some translations of the Bible say, “never let a lie come out of your mouth” (English to Read Version).

The third is stop doing what is wrong and do good. The fourth is to look for peace and pursue it.

You see, these are things that every Christian can do to see good days and to also enjoy the best of God in this life. Thus, the quality of life you are having and living now is because of your own doings.

Know that you can’t have the best of life and enjoy your life in the Lord, when you can’t control your tongue. Not only that, when you can’t subscribe to a life of obedience to the Lord and to live at peace with people it brings your life to a needless warfront.

Be wise! Live in a way that God’s word will work for your good.

Read: Isaiah 1:19 – “If you listen to what I say, you will get the good things from this land (ERV).

Prayer: Lord, I pray for the grace to live in a way that will cause me to see GOOD DAYS.

SEEK COUNSEL

Proverbs 1:5,
“A wise man will hear and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels”.

Being wise is not a one-day event. It is bounded in your ability to keep opening yourself up for counsel and learning. Because without counsel, you are likely not going to continue in a wise path in life. This is why it is important to seek counsel.

Counsel is described as instruction, guidance, and enlightenment. It is needed to attain success. The Bible says, “in the multitude of counselors there is safety or victory”.  Proverbs 15:22:  “Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors, they are established”. When you have many godly counsellors, it brings safety and not confusion as some people think.

One incontestable truth about life is that everyone needs counsel to make it. You need counsel to marry, you need counsel for ministry, you need counsel in your career and education, you need counsel to handle your finances, etc. In fact, plans and purposes are brought into fulfilment through counsel. Counsel gives you the platform to excel without many difficulties. It puts you on the right path and helps you to avoid multiple mistakes.

Nonetheless, counsel just like any precious mineral must be sought. It won’t walk to your house and look for you. You must humbly and zealously seek it.  Not only does it take great discipline and humility to seek counsel, but it also takes wisdom to receive counsel.  Proverbs 1:5 says, “A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels”.

Wisdom will teach you how to receive counsel. There are many people who follow their own “feelings” and never subscribe to any counsel. They follow what they feel is good till they are left in a bad situation without remedy or even if there is room for remedy, it comes at the expense of many damages.

Seek counsel from God’s word, pray and wait on the Lord for counsel, seek counsel from your pastor, seek counsel from your parents. Don’t despise counsel and don’t hesitate to seek counsel. It has the power to lift you in life.

Read: Proverbs 1:1-5 “The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel; to know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding; to receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity; to give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. A wise man will hear and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for the grace to seek godly counsel on every decision I will take in this life. In Jesus name, Amen!

Praising God in difficult times

2 Chronicles 20:21-22
“And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the Lord; for his mercy endureth forever. And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten”

The praise of the believer does not only lift the name of God or show appreciation to God. It is also a weapon that brings victory to the child of God. Nonetheless, this only happens when we are able to praise the Lord in difficult times.

You see, in the face of adversities and challenges, the believer is not left alone. No child of God is without grace or helpless in the face of problems. When you praise God in these moments, he comes through for you.

The Bible talks about how King Jehoshaphat of Judah was attacked by a combined army, and how he appointed singers unto the LORD, that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before these armies. Although it looks foolish in the natural, their praise to God in this daring moment brought them a victory.

Praising God in the awkward moments of your life is nothing but a demonstration of your faith in God. Like Paul and Silas, the prison doors can’t break you up neither take away your praise.

Learn to praise God irrespective of what happens to you or around you. It releases the power of God that bring victory to you. No wonder the Psalmist said, “I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth” (Psalm 34:1).

Let the praise of God continually be in your mouth. When you walk, sit, or stand sing and praise the name of God in your heart. It will bring you victories untold. You will also see awesome manifestation of God’s goodness in your life.

Read: Psalm 100:1, “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, And into his courts with praise: Give thanks unto him, and bless his name.”

PRAYER: Lord, I pray for grace to trust you in the face of every difficulty and to praise your holy name. Amen!
