WAY MAKER

Isaiah 43:16
Thus saith the Lord, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters;

When it comes to making a way when there seems to be no way, working out miracles and creating something out of nothing, there’s none other qualified like God.

He has an unchallenged track record of making way where everything looks impossible. As a matter of fact, God is in the business of making the impossible very possible.

On one occasion, he parted the great reed sea for the Israelites to pass through when they were trapped by the Egyptians. Parted asunder the Jordan for the Israelites to again cross into the promised land.(Exodus 14:10-16).

Always remember that, we are not disadvantaged in life as children of God. We have the Greater One living inside of us. We cannot be trapped, defeated and limited by any means.

This is why we must always depend on him. He is the God that makes a way and creates access where none is.

He said in Isaiah 43:19
“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert“.

In the face of trials and tribulations, dare to believe God to make a way for you.
God is still in the miracle business, he’s still making ways for people, still raising the dead, healing the sick, giving out promotions, and making paths in the wilderness.

He is the way maker. Dare to trust him.

Read: Jeremiah 32:17
Ah Lord God ! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:

Prayer: Lord, I thank you for making a way where there seems to be no way in every area of my life.

Purity, the hallmark of the Christian.

2 Timothy 2:21
If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.

Anytime you keep yourself pure, you become the Lord’s choice among many others. You see, although God has a special or awesome reason for bringing you into this world, it is not automatic that He is going to use you to accomplish what He has said about you.

God expects that, you keep yourself pure so that you will become a vessel of honour that He can use without any controversy.
That’s why purity, or holiness matters to God.

Your purity proves to God your determination and desire to be used by him.
2 Timothy 2:21 says “If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work“.

You see, anytime you break the purity code or give in to things that desecrates your life, you limit and hinder the agenda of God for your life.

Never allow the sinful pressures of this world to corrupt your standards or virtues as Christian.
Fight to stay pure, because without purity you will just be on a tour in this life without any significant impact since God can’t use you for anything meaningful.

Read: 2 Corinthians 7:1
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to perfect holiness in the fear of God.

Don’t look back

Hebrews 12:1
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.

The Christian life is a journey or a race that we are into, which God expects us to finish successfully.
It is therefore expedient not to look back at the former things of life that didn’t please God.

In this new life, God wants you to focus on him through constant fellowship, and to consider his word daily so that you don’t get derailed in your walk with him by going back.

Not looking back in this context means not delighting or desiring the former pleasures of sin which you renounced when you were saved.
Thus, it is a complete abandonment of the old life and its ways.

The Bible gives account of how Lot and his family survived an escape from Sodom and Gomorrah upon its destruction. Nonetheless, when they were leaving God warned them by an angel to flee the city and not look back.
“But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt”(Genesis 19:26).
Lot’s wife missed it. Her interest, desire and love for what she had or might have gotten from Sodom and Gomorrah cost her.

Learn from Lot’s wife. Run out of the pleasures of life without looking back. Disconnect yourself from ungodly alliances and pursuits without looking back. You see, you won’t escape the world’s troubles if you go with it’s pleasures.
Always remember that, this sinful world has nothing good to offer the believer.

Thus, looking back after being saved will only slow you down and eventually cause you to backslid.

Keep your focus on God. Desire better things such as spiritual gifts, wealth and honor which comes from God.

Keep your gaze on Jesus.

Read: Hebrews 12:2
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to pursue and continually look up to you all the days of my life.

Time to Sacrifice

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The foundation of Christianity is built on sacrifice. God made the ultimate sacrifice by giving us his only son that we might be saved through his death (John 3:16). This is why you can’t live the Christian life and leave out sacrifice.

The Bible reveals to us that we are not merely saved, but also transformed and given a ministry as Priests. In other words, we are God’s representatives here on earth.
“And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What’s more, you are his holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God“.(1 Peter 2:5)

It is also important to note that the duty of the priest is to offer up spiritual sacrifices. This is why you must not take sacrifice out of your service to God. As a matter of fact, your service to God is incomplete without a sacrifice.

For instance, your repentance is a sacrifice. So also is the lifting up of your hands to worship, your offerings and tithes, your body consecrated unto God in righteousness as well as giving to Men of God.

Nonetheless, the ultimate sacrifice God demands from you is to dedicate your entire life to him.

Today, many are not living a life of sacrifice because of “overstretched grace”. They use grace as a ticket to overlook and avoid sacrificing as God demands. But remember that, even grace is a product of sacrifice.

Learn to sacrifice towards the things of God. Give your time, energy, money and possessions in your service as priests.

Read: Romans 12:1
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for more grace to always live a sacrificial life as i am mandated to do.

Turn from sinful ways

Romans 6:1-2
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

In as much God has delivered believers from sin and the power of sin, we must continue in this same “state” by consciously disengaging ourselves from sinful acts. You see, the new life in you is programmed to have power over sin. This makes sin more of a choice. Thus, as a child of God, you sin because you want to sin.

It is without doubt that sin as a negative force has risen to its highest level in the end times. See Matthew 24:12:
“Because of the increase of wickedness (evil, iniquity, lawlessness) the love of most will grow cold”. But this is not an excuse to give in to sin. You see, you must never make an excuse or justify a sinful action in any way.

Giving an excuse for doing something wrong, will keep you in a self created bondage of sin. On the other hand, the Bible says, sin shall not have dominion over you (Romans 6:14).

In parting company with sin, you must be word conscious to enable you resit the deception that sin brings. Be smart enough to know that, irrespective of how small an act is, if it is sin, it will grow and also cause you to abound in other sinful acts. Hence, the statement, “sin gives birth to sin”.

Don’t give in to sin, no matter the justification that this corrupt world will give to it. Remember that, sin has serious consequences that can mar or destroy your walk with God.

Read: 1 John 3:9
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to turn from every sinful way.

Believe the Gospel and Behave it

Romans 14:17
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

The Gospel as we have received is not just to be believed upon but also to be lived out. The gospel brings to bare the finished work of Christ Jesus to the world. It is by this same gospel that we believe upon to be saved.

But you see, the gospel doesn’t just usher us into the kingdom of God, it must also be our way of life and behavior.

Apostle Paul said, “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost”. (Romans 14:17)
Thus, we must produce fruits of righteousness and peace and joy that comes from our fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

You see, your life is a gospel that someone reads, sees or hears and gets drawn to God.

A life well lived speaks volumes than a sermon well preached. In other words, people respond to your way of life and behavior more than what you say.

You must behave the gospel by demonstrating God’s divine power in you. Don’t just expect sinners to change, pray it as well. Don’t only sympathise with the sick and broken, show them love and heal them.
Bible says “For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power”.(1 Corinthians 4:20)

You are a carrier of God’s power. Let the world around you feel it.
Jesus didn’t just talk about God, he demonstrated him through healing, giving and teaching.
You too can do same and even greater works than these can you do.

You are the gospel the world is waiting for.
Don’t deny your generation of God’s love and power.

Read: 1 Corinthians 4:20
For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace not only to believe the gospel but also to live it out.

Your warfare releases your welfare

Matthew 12:29
Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.

One truth that you must always be conscious of as a believer is that, there is a constant negative force at work against the believer. This why you must always be prepared to fight and resist daemonic activities against your life.

You see, although Jesus has defeated the devil, his lease term on the earth has not expired. Thus, he (the devil ) is the god of this world. This is why he never stops to attack believers. But to you the born again Christian he is a defeated foe.

You must stand your ground and take hold of what God has given to you as your inheritance in Christ.
Jesus teaching of this warfare said in Matthew 12:29 “Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house”.
You see, the only way the devil can afflict and hinder you is by you allowing him. As long as you are in Christ you are the ‘strong man’.

Remember that our warfare with the devil is not physical but spiritual.
You see, you war by standing on the word of God to fight for what belongs to you. Gods word is our spiritual sword. (Ephesians 6:17)

Remember that, until you stand your grounds for what is yours, you will not get it.

Read: Proverbs 20:18
Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to war and contend for that which is rightly mine.

Be fruitful as a Christian

Luke 13:7
Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?

It is God’s desire that you bear fruit as a Christian. In fact, much fruit. You increase your value and become an asset when you are fruitful.

Just as a tree when planted goes through many phases till it gets to the fruit bearing stage, God expects our Christian life to be so.

You see, fruitlessness is of no use or benefit. The Bible records a parable of a man who ordered his fig-tree to be cut off because the tree failed to bring forth fruits even though it was time for it.
Luke 13:7 says “So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, ‘For three years now I’ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?'”

As a Christian, God has invested so much in you that you can’t choose to remain unfruitful. You must bear fruit at all cost. Your life as child of God can only influence and impart others when you bear much fruit.

Don’t remain a Christian with nothing to show for it. Your life, your character, your faith, love and purity must be one of a kind. These are the fruits you must bear as a Christian.

Another area you must be fruitful in is in soul winning. You must endeavor to reach out to the unsaved and get them born again.

You must not only limit your Christian faith to church attendance. Go beyond that and become an asset to the kingdom.

Bear awesome fruits. The Bible says, you will be known by the fruits you bear.

Read : John 15:5
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Prayer. Lord I pray for grace to be a fruit bearing Christian to your glory.

Guide your words with wisdom

James 1:19
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

No one can undermine the importance of talking. We relate with people and do most of our interactions verbally, which is talking.
Nonetheless, if our talking is not guided by wisdom it will bring some negative unintended consequences or even result in conflict and confusion.

That’s why the Bible teaches on how we ought to talk.
“Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath” (James 1:19).
You see, you must talk after careful thought on a subject matter. You are always considered a fool if you talk hastily without thinking through the issue at hand. Those who live this way always end up in error.

The fact that you have the ability to talk, doesn’t mean that you must use it indiscreetly.
You must learn the art of talking well.

Proverbs 29:20 says,
“Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him”.
Hence, one way to display wisdom in talking, is not rushing to talk. Meaning that, reasoning and knowledge must precede the words you want to release from your mouth.

Know that words are powerful. They are also irreversible. Remember that, no word spoken can be taken back with its effects.

Don’t be in haste to talk on every subject. Pause and ponder before you talk.

Read: Proverbs 29:20
Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

Prayer: Lord help me to always guide my words with wisdom.

They look up to him

Psalm 34:5
“They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed”.

No one has ever looked up unto God has been put to shame. God has proven to us that we can depend on him to have all our needs met.

To look up to God is to trust and depend on him. Beloved, never find it difficult to trust God in the face of adversity.

Most often than not, people say things like, “I’m trusting God” or “let’s see what God will do” but in actual fact, they have their eyes and hopes set on some other sources aside God. This is not trusting or depending on God.

To trust God is to see God as your sole source. They that trust God see all other avenues of help as coming from God.

David had this to say after God has proven to him His dependability.
“The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower“. (Psalm 18:2)

Always be confident that, it’s safe to trust and look up to God. He will never put you to shame.

Read: Psalm 20:7
“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to always look up to you and absolutely depend on you for everything.
