Love not sleep

Proverbs 20:13
Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.

There is a time for everything in life. Time to be awake and time to sleep but it’s important you find a balance for each. Enjoy too much sleep and you will soon become a bedfellow with poverty and frustrations.

It is written of Jesus that, he would always get up “a great while before day” to receive instructions and directions from God through prayer. (Mark 1:35).
No wonder he commanded such awesome results in life and ministry.

Beloved, you cannot be a heavy sleeper and be a star at the same time. You have to choose one. It is important you make rising up early part of your life. To Jesus, it was a daily exercise.

Nothing corrupts and destroys great destinies like too much sleep. You must learn to rise early to map out strategies and plans for your life.

The Bible says in Proverbs 20:13 that, “Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread”.

You see, spending most of your hours in bed, turning from pillar to post will only result in one thing – POVERTY.
Studies show that most successful people rise up early irrespective of the time they sleep.

You are on your way to greatness when you rise early to seek God and strategize your life.

Read: Mark 1:35
And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

Prayer: Lord, I pray that I will not be held bound by the influence sleep.

What you preserve, you enjoy.

Proverbs 27:18
Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.

There are things that are worth keeping or preserving in life. As the Apostle Paul said, “All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient”… (1 Corinthians 6:12).
It is therefore important to know that some things are valuable and they demand your full attention in other for you to preserve them for your benefit now and in the future.

The Bible says in Proverbs 27:18 “Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured”.
The verse above teaches that, you will only enjoy what you keep and give attention to. So, until you keep something of value, you can never benefit from it.

One of such important things worth preserving in life is the gift and the anointing that God gives to you as a child of God.
See 2 Corinthians 5:18, Ephesians 4:8 and 1 John 2:20.

You see, these gifts and anointing are for your own good and the good of many. But you won’t enjoy them if you don’t preserve them well.

Another thing that is worth keeping and preserving is a profitable relationship.
When God gives you a “human being” as a blessing, you must apply wisdom in maintaining such relationship. You must nurture and keep this profitable relationship to its end.
Don’t forget this profitable relationship can be with your boss, your parents, your pastors, your roommate, etc.

Always remember that, everyone is important at some point in time but not all the time. If someone isn’t very important to you now doesn’t mean you should cut the person off, you might need them in the time to come. How well you preserve such relationships will determine if you will benefit and enjoy of it or not.

Today, many have cultivated the habit of pointing fingers at their parents, bosses and even their Pastors.

Learn to preserve the gifts, anointing and profitable people God has brought your way.

Proverbs 23:18
For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.

Prayer: Lord, I pray that I will always receive wisdom to preserve that which I want to enjoy.

God is Able to do

Ephesians 3:20
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

When it comes to a man receiving blessings from God, it is more dependent on the man than on God. The truth is, God is able to do all things. The Bible has made it clear God’s divine ability and willingness to bless us.

Consider the scripture: Ephesians 3:20 “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”

God is only limited by your inability to “ask” or “think” in faith. You see, the power in every child of God is fueled by faith in God. As long as you ask or even give thought to something in faith, God is ever ready and willing to bless you with it.

Another scripture puts it this way: 2 Peter 1:3 “According as his divine power has given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness…”

You see, God is never in short of power, neither is He reluctant to bless his children.
Yours is to ask, and think about God’s ability to make all things possible. Remember, God is Able.

2 Peter 1:3
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

Prayer: Lord, I thank you for making all things possible in my life.

Turn back and say Thanks

Luke 17:15
And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,

Whenever we say “thank you”, it is to acknowledge and appreciate a good done for us. Saying thank you is an essential element in the character of every child of God.

Today, many forget to say thank you but you shouldn’t be numbered among such folks. God expects and demands our thanks. Look at what Jesus said in Luke 17, after healing the ten lepers: Luke 17:15 “And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,” 17:16 “And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.” 17:17 “And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?”

You see, God expects you to always turn back like the Samaritan leper to come and say Thank you. For instance you have to come to the Lord and say, Thank you for healing me, thank you for providing me with food, thank you for helping me pay my fees, thank you for the support when I was weak, or thank you for granting my prayer request. God demands your thanks.

You must also learn to say thank you to your fellow human being. Any help you need from God will come through a man. Until you can learn to appreciate Gods agents of help you won’t receive more from them.

Go back to any human vessel that God used to bless you and say THANK YOU.

Saying Thanks, has many rewards. You receive wholeness and completion after saying thanks. You also win a man’s favor anytime you apply the principle of Thanksgiving.

Don’t forget to say Thank You.

Ephesians 5:20
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayer: Lord I thank you for all your blessings and goodness bestowed on my life.

You shall not die but live

2 Timothy 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

People live with all kinds of fear in life. Some live with the fear of sickness, failure, and death. Nonetheless, God has brought every born again Christian to a domain where fear’s hold and influence is absolutely broken. The Bible clearly teaches that God has not given us the spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1:7).

You see, as a Child of God, the knowledge of who you are in Christ will let you overcome any fear in life especially the fear of death. David by the Spirit of God said, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me” (Psalm 23:4).The fear of death must not hold you captive as a Child of God.

As Christians we serve a God who has power over death. This is the more reason we must not live our lives with the fear of death. Never for one moment give in to the torture and the discomfort that the fear of death produces. Remember the words of Jesus that says “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die …”(John 11:25, 26).

You see, Jesus meant business when he said: “And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die”. Know that, the moment you receive Jesus as savior, the old life passed away and a new life came into existence. That was your real death experience. “For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:3).

Live and walk in life with joy. Never let fear of things like sickness and death cripple your God given vision in life. Whatever the situation will turn out to be, the Bible says“you are more than a conqueror”(Romans 8:37). Glory to God!

Read: Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith

Prayer: I shall not die but live to declare the words of God.

The race of the Christian

Hebrews 12:1
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Every believer has been called by the Lord to fulfill a particular or specific mission on earth. This means that, all your efforts must be tailored to doing what the Lord has called you for. It means that you must also look forward to “running your own race” or living out your mandate.

You must never make a mistake of comparing yourself with someone who is not running the same race with you. The truth is that, God’s plan and purpose for your life may be different.

Most of the times people measure other people’s success to theirs and conclude that they are failing. But that ought not to be the case. The fact that someone is succeeding does not mean you are failing.

Rather, measure yourself with God’s purpose for your life and ensure that, you are in God’s perfect will.
Don’t do what other people are doing if God has not sent you on such a mission.

Run the race that God has set before you.

Read: Hebrews 12:1
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to run with patience the race that is set before me as a Christian.

Know your Rights

1 Peter 2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

The Christian life is not an ordinary life for mere men. That is why we must live with the consciousness of who we are in Christ.

If you are born again, you have a right to live, for the Bible says Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly. Not only that, born again folks have the right to divine health, and also the privilege to demand things in the name of Jesus.

It is therefore important for every believer to constantly and daily study the word of God, to know what God has given us and how to make them ours.

It is dangerous for a believer not to know his rights. When you don’t know your rights in Christ, you are at the devil’s mercy. You will be less privileged and be denied of a lot of things.

Start digging into God’s word today and know what is in his will that pertains to your glorious life here on earth.

Romans 8:17
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Prayer: Lord, I pray that as I search through God’s word may I receive truths that pertain to my glorious life on earth.

Daily renewal of your mind

Romans 12:2
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Until the mind of the believer is renewed, his new life will be completely denied expression. Your mind is one part of you that never changes after you get born again. Salvation, or born again is a spiritual experience that makes your spirit a new person.
Nonetheless, your body and your mind remains the same. This is the very reason why you must renew your mind.

Renewing your mind has to do with meditating on God’s to change the way you think.
Romans 12:2 says “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God”.
Ephesians 4:23 also puts it this way “And be renewed in the spirit of your mind”

You see, constant meditation on the word will bring your mind to the point where it will be in sync with your recreated spirit. This is when you can fully express the life of God in all you do.

Make it a practice to constantly feed on the word. It will make you see and understand things from God’s perspective.
When your mind is renewed, you begin to appreciate spiritual things than ever before.

Read: Ephesians 4:23
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

Prayer: Lord, i pray for grace to always leave in renewal of my mind.

Candidate of change

Habakkuk 2:1
I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.

Any progress you want to experience in life starts with a change. You see, from time to time, it is important to review the way things are going with you and determine the areas you need to make changes.

You can’t keep doing the same things, and expect a different result: -that’s not going to work. Every positive change that you want to experience starts with your “thinking”.

As a matter of fact, your life reflects your thoughts. By your words and actions, you are expressing what is on your mind. For as a man thinks, so is he.

Don’t live things to chance, and never say what will be will be. You are the person behind the happenings. You determine to a large extent how your life will be.

Choose to be a candidate of change and affect society, communities and the world at large positively.

Mark 5:28
For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to be a candidate of change that will affect many positively.

Don’t stop here!

2 Kings 2:10
And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.

It is very important to know that the Christian life is a journey. Your success is assured when you know this truth and work towards it.

Many who amount to nothing in their walk with God stopped on the way.
You see, when it comes to spiritual things we can learn from some natural principles.

Gold for instance is not found on the top soil. You have to dig deep to get it. Thus, if you want to be spiritually sound you must work for it. You just don’t sit or quit to make it.

When Elisha wanted some spiritual blessings from Elijah his father, the prophet must journey with him from Gilgal, to Bethel, through Jericho, and finally to Jordan. Stopping at any point will mean forfeiting the mantle he has ever desired to receive.

Don’t stop at salvation or any spiritual achievement, there is more to living a spiritual life as a Christian.

Philippians 3:10
That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to continue and strive for spiritual attainments.
