Believe and speak

2 Corinthians 4:13
“Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, “I believed, and so I spoke,” we also believe, and so we also speak”.

It is one thing to believe God for something and another thing to receive from Him that which you believe.

Anytime you believe, you have a firm assurance that God will deliver on his word or will meet your expectations. But the truth is, believing alone will not get the job done. You must add your “words” to what you believe. In other words, you must confess that which you believe. You set your faith loose when you say what you believe.

That is why the Bible says “we also believe, and so we also speak”. You see, your faith in God demands expression. You must not believe in God and hide the expression of it.

Mark 11:22-23 gives the account of how Jesus taught his disciples on this subject. Jesus taught them to have faith in God and to express it by saying it. See Mark 11:22-23 “So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says”.

You can’t believe God for something and keep mute. If you believe God for your healing and health, you must keep confessing his word on that. If you believe God for your finances, you must make that your confession.

Always learn to vocalize your faith no matter the situation you face.

Read: Mark 11:23
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Prayer: Lord, I pray that I will also believe your word without doubt and speak with all boldness. Amen

The Holiness mandate

1 Peter 1:16
For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.

Holiness or purity is God’s order or directive which must not be compromised. You must therefore live your life daily with this consciousness. Inasmuch as we have been made holy by the washing of regeneration and the renewing of the Holy Ghost as Christians, we must work it out.

One way to walk in the holiness mandate is to cleanse yourself from every filthiness of the flesh and in the spirit as the Bible says.See 2 Corinthians 7:1. “…let us cleanse ourselves from every impurity of the flesh and spirit, completing our sanctification (holiness) in the fear of God”.

You see, you can only walk in holiness or live the holiness mandate only when you are born again. In the natural, you can try to be highly moral, gentle or let me say a legalist or a moralist. But that can’t make you holy.

You become holy when you receive the life of God or accept Jesus as your Lord. The Bible says “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light” (1 Peter 2:9). So becoming “holy” is not something you work for but it is something you are made into when you get born again. You only live it out by letting the “spirit life” or the “new life”subdue the “flesh” or your “carnal desires”.

Meaning that you don’t work for holiness but rather you work in it. That is, you bring all your faculties and the members of your body to live in sync with the holiness nature you have received from the Lord.

There are many unbelieving folks who have turned to following some set of rules in their attempt to put away some wrong behaviors or lifestyle. Well that is a genuine attempt to do something, but it is still the wrong approach. You don’t follow a set of rules to become holy. You must receive the life of God, which is holy to become holy. This is why salvation, born again, or accepting Christ is something that is priceless because it gives you a new identity.

If you are born again you have the grace and the ability to perfect holiness in the fear of God. Don’t comprise on that by following the sinful standards of this world. Nonetheless, if you are not born again, you can start now by accepting the Lordship of Christ and you will have the ability to live a holy life.

Read: 1 Peter 1:16 “You must be holy because I am holy”

Prayer: Lord, i pray for grace to live out the holiness mandate each and every day. Amen

Humility brings honour

Proverbs 22:4
“By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life”.

Contrary to popular worldly opinion, humility brings honour and recognition to its devotees.
The Bible says “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up” (James 4:10). Thus no one gets to the top without humility. As a matter of fact, before honour is HUMILITY. Proverbs 22:4 says “By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life”.

No man can wear the crown of honour without being humble. How humble you are in life will determine how far you can go. Humility is such a great virtue that we must cultivate. The wise man by the Spirit of God said in Proverbs 15:33 that “The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility”.

Never think of being great if you can’t pay the price of humility. Humility is a factor that will make you learn from others, submit to an authority, and give you a teachable spirit. You see, even though many people will choose to be proud than to be humble, dare to be different.

Let God’s word guide you in your path of humility. It has the power to recourse you and to re-program your life. Always remember that, it is a display of great WISDOM, when you decide to be humble and learn from others. Never become defiant and offended when corrected in the course of life.

The Bible has many examples of great people who traveled on the path of humility. We can make mention of Moses who was considered the meekest of all men. (Numbers 12:3)
Another example we can talk about is Jesus who took upon himself the form of a man and a servant despite his power and authority as God. (Philippians 2:5-8)

Let go of pride and just as the Lord Jesus, choose the path of humility. Always remember, the way to the TOP is through Humility.

Read: 1Peter 5:6 “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to always walk in humility as you raise me to the top. Amen

FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH

1 Timothy 6:12
“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses”

There is a fight that every believer must fight. This fight is not a carnal fight where people exchange blows or use natural weapons to hurt one another. The fight of faith is a fight in which you use your faith to battle the works of the enemy to enjoy your inheritance in Christ.

In this fight, you lay hold of what the Lord says is yours with the “force of faith”. You don’t give the devil the chance to mess things up in your life. It is a fight you engage in to ensure that whatever the Lord has said about you is not hindered by the devil.

The Bible says, the devil is in to steal, kill and to destroy (John 10:10).  Thus, even though you may be a genuine child of God, if you don’t fight off the thief in your territory you may not make a headway in life.

In this good fight of faith you stand on God’s word to resist the devil. You must vehemently speak God’s word against any works of darkness that wants to work in your space. You see, you must violently refuse the enemy access in your terrain.

Remember that, God will not do this for you. Don’t cry when you must stand and rebuke satanic works against your life. Rebuke sickness, rebuke sinful habits, rebuke poverty, and rebuke fear. Crying, complaining and worrying is not a solution when it comes to warfare. In fact, we don’t cry in a combat. Engage the weapons of warfare that God has given to you and victory will be yours.

Read: “He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms” Psalm 18:34

Prayer: Lord, I pray that you will help me keep my faith strong to always fight a good fight of faith. Amen

Submit to the Authority in Church

Romans 13:1
“Let every soul be subject to the authorities that are above him. For there is no authority except from God; and those that exist are set up by God”

One way by which we can have order in life is when we submit to the powers that be. There are various forms of authority that everyone must recognize and hold in high esteem. These includes the family, the Church and the state.

God sets people in these institutions that we must submit to. From the above text, it is clear that submitting to authority is a divine instruction. God expects every Christian to submit to authority and especially in the Church.

Hebrews 13:17 says “Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you”.

When you submit, you yield yourself to a particular course or order and comply with every given instruction. Thus when you find yourself in a local Church, you must not run your own show. You must not do things in the “opposite” to what you are taught. Rather you must comply with every instruction given to enhance your growth in the things of God in that particular local Church.

See the instruction to the saints in the Church at Thessalonica on the subject of submission; “Dear brothers, honor the officers of your Church who work hard among you and warn you against all that is wrong. Think highly of them and give them your wholehearted love because they are straining to help you…” (2 Thessalonians 5:12-13). So submitting to authority in the house of God is not a choice. It is a duty that must be discharge irrespective of what you think.

Anyone who ignores the duty to submit is not only ignoring the people in authority but he or she is also ignoring the God that place such people there. The truth is that people who refuse to submit to authority are in rebellion. Such people make themselves vulnerable to the enemy or opens the door of satanic attacks against themselves. Not only that, some favors and divine guidance don’t come to them.

You must make living in submission to God’s authority your mandate in life. Never make your life contradict the teachings you receive from God’s house. In fact, never try to outsmart your shepherd or behave like you are “wiser” than the Spirit of God that is leading the Church.

Read: Hebrews 13:7 “Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to submit to every authority you have placed me under. Amen

Excel in the Grace of Giving

See Acts 2:44-45
“And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need”.

Christians must not only excel in godly virtues without excelling in the grace of giving. The believer’s excellence must be all round and not one sided. You must not only pursue holiness, faith and love without any record when it comes to giving. You must also be zealous when it comes to giving to the Lord and the local Church.

Today, we have Christians who don’t give to the Church. Some even think it is not worth it to give to the work of God. This thinking make them spend more on themselves and never care about the financial health of the Church.

Nonetheless, the fact is clear, when the Church is not financially sound it can do little in this world. This is why we must excel in giving individually and collectively so that the relevance of the Church can be seen in some areas. You see, until we intensify the giving in our Churches it won’t be long and the world will sink us into oblivion.

But for you to be a “passionate” giver as a Christian, you must understand that your prosperity is for a purpose. In other words, your money has a mission. See Zechariah 1:17:”Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the Lord shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem”. You see, advancing God’s work is a combination of both spiritual power and prosperity. Having one without the other can hinder the work.

Every Child of God that prospers financially must also see the need to support the Kingdom business and help other believers in the body of Christ. Although this is not a usual road people would want to take, that is what God expects from you. Don’t “dress” yourself with the wealth that God blesses you with. Learn to give it out without compulsion. See Acts 2:44-45 “And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need”.

Be a giver. Consciously and constantly be a Kingdom financier.

Read: 2 Corinthians 9:7 “So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for the grace to give consciously and constantly for the advancement of your kingdom. Amen

Help begets help

“He who shuts his ear to the cry of the poor will also cry himself and not be answered” (Proverbs 21:13)

One way to get help in life is to help others. As ironic as it may seem, this is the principle that God’s word teaches. “Help” also follows the principle of sowing and reaping. If you sow “help” you are sure to receive it when the tables turn. In fact, it will come back to you good measure press down, shaken together and running over.

On the subject of help, Solomon by the Spirit has this to say, “He who shuts his ear to the cry of the poor will also cry himself and not be answered” (Proverbs 21:13). You see, irrespective of your circumstance in life, there are people below you who you can help. Stopping and attending to such folks in the course of your endeavors is what brings the help you also need. You must also know that, when you are not ready to help other people, you shut the doors of help on your life.

The Bible says, when you shut your ears to the cry of other people because you don’t want to make a turn to respond to people, you will also not get people to attend to you when you cry for help.

A story was told of a young man that was taken ill with a death threatening disease. In his desire to get healed, he went to be ministered to in a healing service, but as he waited in the service for the man of God to approach him and pray for him, he noticed another sick fellow who was carried to the service in a helpless manner. In fact, this sick person was almost close to his last breath when considered by the young man. The young man upon noticing this got up and started praying for the healing and miracle of the other sick fellow. Not long after, the man of God ministered to the one that came in last and was healed. It was amidst the joy and thanking God for the miracle he had wrought on the man that was almost dead that the young also realized that, he was standing on his feet and couldn’t trace any symptoms of the ill health he brought.

The question one may ask is “what happened?”. Well help begot help. Help generated help. Help produced help. The young man went beyond the “death threat” on his life to pray for another person’s healing and he also got his help.

Inasmuch as you are looking for help from the Lord, also make it your calling to help others. That help will help you.

Read: Psalm 121:1-2 “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray that in as much as I need help in this life, I will also turn to be of help to others. Amen

Nothing is too late with God

Ecclesiastes 3:11
“He has made everything beautiful in its time…”

The operations of God is guided by divine timing and season. God is never late and cannot be late at doing what He must do for his children.

Never be deceived to think that God delays in delivering on His promises, or He comes late. No! Man can be late but not God.

Nothing is difficult or impossible for God. Thus, no need, or request of man can make him delay. God reaches out to us on time.

God reaches out to us, when the set time comes. Know that God is not slack concerning his promise (2 Peter 3:9).

Rather than complaining that God has delayed or He is late, align to His timing and season for your life. This is how you will know that God is not late at all.

Don’t misjudge God’s timing and rush into error. Just be patient and wait on God, for He makes all things beautiful in His time.

Know that it does not take God many hours to turn hopeless situations around. At the appointed time, He will make the impossible possible, create a way in the wilderness and put smile on your face.

Read: Galatians 4:4 “But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to submit to your times and seasons for my life.

Submit to correction

Proverbs 3:11-12
“also says “My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor detest His correction; For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom”.

One of the priceless things you can receive in life is correction. Correction is very important since it always make one better in life. Generally, we progress from one stage in life to another not only by learning but also by yielding to correction.

The Cambridge dictionary defines correction as a change that rectifies an error or a change made to something in other to improve it. Thus, any time you are corrected the ultimate objective is to bring an improvement in your life or to something you are doing. Not only that, correction also helps to put you on track or put you right in relation to something you are doing.

Correction is one subject that the Bible has taught on extensively. This is why no child of God or any spirit filled believer should have a problem with submitting to correction. When you are corrected and you receive it in good faith and comply with whatever instruction you are given, that is submitting to correction.

You see, one basic reason for the scripture or the written word of God is to correct us. 2 Timothy 3:16 says “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness”. God’s word corrects us in life.

Proverbs 3:11-12 also says “My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor detest His correction; For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom”. Meaning that, any time you are corrected, it is a proof that you are loved.

Never take corrections lightly. Also remember that correction like any other instruction will never benefit you when you don’t follow it. You will be corrected by God, you will be corrected by people ahead of you in life, you will be corrected by parents and you will be corrected by friends. But whichever way the correction may come pray for a willing heart and mind so that you can submit to it.

Read: Our human fathers correct us for a short time, and they do it as they think best. But God corrects us for our own good, because he wants us to be holy, as he is (Hebrews 12:10 CEV)

Prayer: Lord, I pray for a heart that will always receive correction in good faith. Amen

Overcome the fear of death

John 11:25, 26
“I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die …”

People live with all kinds of fear in life. Some live with the fear of sickness, failure, and death. Nonetheless, God has brought every born again Christian to a domain where fear’s hold and influence is absolutely broken. The Bible clearly teaches that God has not given us the spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1:7).

You see, as a Child of God, the knowledge of who you are in Christ will let you overcome any fear in life especially the fear of death. David by the Spirit of God said, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me” (Psalm 23:4).The fear of death must not hold you captive as a Child of God.

As Christians we serve a God who has power over death. This is the more reason we must not live our lives with the fear of death. Never for one moment give in to the torture and the discomfort that the fear of death produces. Remember the words of Jesus that says “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die …”(John 11:25, 26).

You see, Jesus meant business when he said: “And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die”. Know that, the moment you receive Jesus as savior, the old life passed away and a new life came into existence. That was your real death experience. “For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:3).

Live and walk in life with joy. Never let fear of things like sickness and death cripple your God given vision in life. Whatever the situation will turn out to be, the Bible says“you are more than a conqueror”(Romans 8:37). Glory to God!

Read: Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith

Prayer: Lord, I pray and set my mind and spirit free from the influence and fear of death. Amen
