Keep your heart with all diligence

Proverbs 4:23
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

The heart is one important thing that every Christian must take serious. By the heart, we are not referring to the biological heart with its atria and ventricles. The heart referred to here is the human spirit, which is your inner man. This is what the epistles refer to as the “man on the inside”.

Although most people have mastered the art of mounting guard on the material things they have in life, they can’t be assured of success if the heart which is the most important is left out. The Bible says all the issues of life or the springs of life comes from the heart. This is what makes the heart a precious thing to keep, or guard with great effort.

For instance, whether fear, love, faith, hatred, or lust, it all flows out of the heart. Thus, keeping your heart means that, you do everything possible to make your heart remain in a perfect state or condition. Also mounting guard on your heart means that you don’t allow your heart to go astray or wander in wrong stuffs. So as Christian you must guard your heart against all improper affections. Left to itself, the heart of man will wander in carnal things.

Never forget that the state of your heart determines your moral character. The intention of your actions will always correspond to the dispositions that prevail within. On whatever side the weight of inclination hangs, it will draw the practice after it. Independent of all action, it is the state of the heart itself which forms our character in the sight of God.

Take note of this truth: “you are known before the Lord by your heart and not only by your act”.
Consistently study and mediate on God’s word since it is the only way to mount guard over your heart and never allow ideas and opinions which are inconsistent with the word of God into your heart. In fact, ignore them as they come.

Read: You have tested my thoughts and examined my heart in the night. You have scrutinized me and found nothing wrong. I am determined not to sin in what I say. (Psalm 17:3)

Prayer: Lord, I pray for more grace to guard my heart diligently against all evil. Amen

Don’t live in the past

Philippians 3:13
“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead”

Living in the past and with the past is something that will hinder you from fulfilling your purpose in life. Before you can go on in your Christian life and reach your fullest potential you must learn to put your past behind, especially your mistakes.

You see, you may not have start out right in life. But that notwithstanding, you can’t continue to let your mistakes and sins of the past hold you captive. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”(NIV). Thus, see yourself in the light of God’s word. The old mistakes, sins, and errors are gone. Don’t live with that guilt. Forgive yourself just as God has done and move on.

The Apostle Paul in his epistle said ”forgetting what is behind” (Philippians 3:13). Beloved, forget what is behind and move forward. Move forward to fulfilling your God given purpose. Move forward in faith, move forward in righteousness, move forward in your calling. This is how you can become a blessing to your generation.

Read: Romans 8:1-2 “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to focus on what is ahead and not my past. Amen

Learn to control yourself

Proverbs 25:28
“Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control”

Anyone who is born again has been created anew with the nature of self-control. This means that you have the capacity and the ability to hold yourself in or restrict yourself from doing things contrary to God’s word.

You see, self-control is the virtue that makes you keep a calm and maintain a godly composure in the face of awkward situations. You can’t be a Christian and respond negatively to situations. Although some ignorantly pride in their ability to talk harshly at people, fuss at people, physically fight people who oppose and the like refuse to live like that. Be self-controlled in every situation.

It is not right to do whatever you feel like doing as a Christian. Hold yourself in and hold yourself from within. Subject your feelings and desires to God’s word before acting them out.

Most vices we see today is due to people refusing to daily walk in self-control. Without self-control you give the devil the chance to intrude your life with all kinds of evil. Exercising self-control is your defence against any form of ungodliness.

Read: Titus 2:11-12 “For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age”

Prayer: Lord, thank you for the nature of self-control. I pray for the grace to exercise it at all times.

Be a master of maneuvers

Psalm 24:10
“If you falter in a time of trouble, how small is your strength”

Although many have used the word “maneuver” in relation to warfare by a well organized army, it is also something we can deploy or use in our daily walk as Christians.

The word “maneuver” means a planned action that is intended to obtain an advantage, a skilful or careful move, or overpowering a situation to achieve an end.
You see, your success in life is heavily dependent on how you master this art of maneuvering.

Life’s journey is not and will never be a straight line. It has ups and downs. It has mountains and valleys, it has lacks and wants, and all sorts of situations.

You see, whether you like it or not, you will not only be faced with things you have planned for or made provision for. No! It has never been like that. That would have made life more certain and predictable.

The truth is that, you will see all kinds of situations in life as you move day by day. Some will be good, some will be bad, and others will be ugly. But that is not a reason to give up or let go of your vision or God given agenda.

This is why, you must be a master of maneuvers so that you will put up the best action to win even in the face of your worse moments.
You see, whatever the situation will be like, God expects you to win by putting the wisdom and the understanding you have to work.

The Apostle who described himself as the least but yet accomplished great things for God was a master of maneuvers. See what he had to say in Philippians 4:12-13: “I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me”.

People who are masters of maneuvers see every set back as a set up to move up.
Don’t sit and complain. Don’t sit and fold your arms because you are in a fix, or people have rejected you or no one seems to came to your aid.

Arise and maneuver your way through. Remember that, you are more than a conqueror. Don’t carry defeat and failure as a brand. It is not allowed in the Kingdom of God.

Read: Psalm 24:10 “If you falter in a time of trouble, how small is your strength”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace and wisdom to be a master of maneuvers so that you will put up the best action to win even in the face of your worse moments.

Nothing wrong with starting small

Zechariah 4:10
“Who [with reason] despises the day of small things (beginnings)? For these seven [eyes] shall rejoice when they see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. They are the eyes of the LORD which roam throughout the earth.”

One truth to know and accept about starting out in life small. Anything or anyone you see great today started from a humble beginning. This is true for both individuals or institutions.

You must prepare your mindset and heart with this understanding so that you don’t get discouraged anytime you have to start small in life. The bible says no one with “reason” looks down on small beginnings. Thus, don’t be ashamed to start out small. Whether in your business, marriage life, ministry, e.t.c, don’t be afraid and ashamed to start small.

Never be coerced by people to start something from an unsustainable grounds. Starting small will help you build capacity, gain practical knowledge, and the get experience to handle the complexities associated with big things.

Always resist the temptation of trying to become a GIANT or a BIG PERSON overnight. Also don’t try BUILDING a big company overnight.

Read: Job 8:7 “Though your beginning was insignificant, Yet your end will greatly increase” (AMP)

Prayer: Lord, I pray for the grace to give myself to the process associated with starting out small in life.

Are you honest ?

2 Corinthians 8:21
“Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men”

Living in honesty must be the hall mark of every Christian. We must be honest in our dealings with God and honest in our dealings with one another. Being honest is nothing but a display of the fear of God and love for the truth no matter what the consequences that surrounds it.

Living in honesty means you are sincere, and truthful in both your words and deeds. One author once said, “honesty is more than not lying, but it is truth telling, truth living and truth loving”.

You see, our world is tearing apart today because most people are not honest. Lies, misleading information, pretense and deception have become the things we meddle with day in and day out. No wonder the beauty of marriage has been tainted, businesses and institutions have been characterized with corruption and the church’s sanctity is held in disrepute. The call to stand for honesty is far due. Stand for it.

Are you honest.? Are you honest in your workplace? Are you honest in your marriage? Are you honest in the church.? Are you honest when dealing with people ? Being honest will make you priceless before God.

Beloved be honest. Our world needs it. The church needs it. Remember, that being dishonest will never make us have a better place.

Read: 1 Peter 2:12 “Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for the grace to live for the truth and to stand for the truth.

Plan and prepare for the future

Proverbs 16:9
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”

Planning and preparation are two important factors for success. You can’t just walk through life and succeed without a plan and adequate preparation. You see, if you sit and wait for things to happen it is certain that you will not accomplish much in life.

One truth you must know is that, nothing good just happens. Every good thing that you want to enjoy will only come after planning and preparing for it.

Start planning and preparing for the things the Lord will be requiring of you. You must know that, knowing God’s plan for your life can’t make you successful if you don’t plan and prepare to execute it.

No one gets to have a great future only by talking. You need to take great actions to get there.
You see, the future is always made from the investments of the past. Thus, the seeds of your yesterday and today determines the quality of your future or tomorrow. You can’t have success in life without planning and preparation.

Anything that you desire to see in the future or the coming year must be worked at.
Planning and preparation helps you to prioritise your life for success.

Read :Proverbs 16:9 “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace, wisdom and insight to prepare and plan for the future.

Courage, a factor for success.

Joshua 1:6:
“Be strong and confident, for you will give this people an inheritance, the land which I promise to their ancestors to give.”

Courage is what makes you break the doldrums of life and do what people dread. It simply means beating fear to do something different.

When you are courageous you don’t allow difficult tasks to overwhelm you. It gives you the urge not to give up when faced with challenging happenings.

The Bible talks about how God instructed Joshua to be strong and courageous when he was faced with the mandate to lead the Israelites after Moses.
See Joshua 1:6: “Be strong and confident, for you will give this people an inheritance, the land which I promise to their ancestors to give.”

Inasmuch as God chose Joshua, He expected him to show courage for the task ahead.

You see, one truth is certain, those who do not master courage, will never achieve anything in life.

The Bible says again that: “The sluggard says there is a lion out there, or I will be murdered in the streets”. (Proverbs 22:13)

The above verse explains that you will never get anything done if you allow the grip of fear. So until you are ready to face life’s challenges with courage, you cannot command any results in life.

Life’s journey will not always be favourable. You will not only be faced with situations you can handle. No! Challenging issues will stare and scare you in the face, but it will always take the courage to dare and win.

You see, courage is what helps you to stick your neck out when you could chose a comfort zone. Don’t remain in your comfort zone and do nothing. Be bold to move out and do what the Lord is telling you.

Wake up, be bold and take up the challenge. Carry the “I can do mentality”, and you will breakthrough. Remember that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.

Read: Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified or dismayed (intimidated), for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for courage to step out of fear for every task ahead of me in life. Amen

SPEAK THE WORD

Mark 11:23
“For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say…”

Speaking God’s word is one way to bring heavenly influence into your affairs. It a sure way to chart the path of your life into greatness.
Also, God’s word on your lips is an antidote against any devilish onslaught. This is why the Lord said unto Joshua “do not let this book of the law depart from your mouth”.

The word of God in your mouth is a weapon. You must constantly speak it to have victory and to bring things into existence. The Bible says, the word of God is the source of the cosmos we see to today. See Hebrews 11:3 “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear”.

You see, speaking the word of God daily gives you supernatural results. This is why what you say matters.

The Bible again gives an account of how an officer was healed by the word of God spoken by Jesus. Matthew 8:8 says “The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed”.
The centurion understood the power of the “spoken word” and therefore never bordered Jesus to come to his house, but to only release the word needed for the season.

Today, you have the incarnate word of God who is Jesus in you. You also have the knowledge of the written word. This is enough to produce the MIRACLE you need. Stop looking around and speak the word and it shall be unto you according to your faith.

Remember that, your healing, prosperity, appointment letter, promotion, admission, breakthrough, next level is all in the Word.
Arise and start speaking the word. Your confession will surely bring a possession.

Read: Mark 11:23 “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith”

Prayer: Lord, I pray that there will be a divine turn around in every situation of mine at the speaking of your word. Amen
