MAKE GOD’S WORD YOUR DAILY COMPANION

Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

One of the greatest disciplines a believer can develop is the habit of searching the Word of God daily. God’s Word is not meant to be visited occasionally or treated as something reserved for special moments; it must become part of your everyday life.

The Bible speaks about the believers in Berea and commends them because they approached the Scriptures with seriousness and eagerness. Acts 17:11 says: “Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character… for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day…”

The Bereans understood something many believers neglect today: spiritual growth cannot happen without daily engagement with God’s Word. They did not depend only on what they heard publicly; they searched the Scriptures personally and consistently.

Thus, as a believer, you must become conscious and intentional about studying the Word. Read it daily. Study it carefully. Meditate on it prayerfully. Give it your fullest attention so you do not miss its essence and transforming power.

You see, searching the Word daily is one sure way to know the truth, understand God’s will, and build strong faith. It grounds you in the faith and protects you from deception, confusion, and false teachings.

You cannot truly know what God expects from you if you do not make time for His Word. The Scriptures reveal God’s nature, His promises, His instructions, and His purpose for your life.

Although many things will compete for your attention daily, never allow distractions to take the place of God’s Word in your life.

Be eager for the Word. Be disciplined with the Word. Be prayerful with the Word. And let it dwell richly in you every day.

Read: Deuteronomy 8:3 “Man shall not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.”

Prayer: Lord, give me a deep hunger for Your Word. Help me to study, meditate on, and obey the Scriptures daily. Amen.

HEAR THE WORD, AND OBEY IT.

Matthew 7:24-25 “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.”

Hearing and practicing God’s word is instrumental in keeping the believer growing and also making him stand the tests of life.

As a Christian, God’s word is your sure foundation. You must diligently study it, and obey it or apply its truth against all odds.

In our introductory text, God’s word reveals that is an act of wisdom when you hear and apply God’s word. It also shows that, hearing and applying God’s word is like building on a rock, that’s to say that, obedience to the word is a foundation. Nonetheless, building on a rock requires patience, effort and does not come with ease but it is doable.
Again, we see that, there are storms that hit in the course of life.

Thus, putting all these truth together, it goes without saying why folks who hear the word and apply them are considered wise. This is because, their present action saves them when the tides turn against them.

As a Christian, make every effort to know God’s will on as many things as possible, from your salvation, how to relate with the Holy Spirit, and walking in the fear of God, to dealing with people, marriage, authorities, faith, love, and more, and willingly obey. It will pay off in the end.

You see, holding on to your own understanding, fleshly driven pursuits or opinions that are not truth or well rooted in God’s word will only cost you.

Read:1 John 5:3 “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.”

Prayer: Lord, I thank You for your word that comfort and guides me. I pray for grace to obey it. Amen

GREATNESS BEGINS WITH HUMILITY

Matthew 18:3-4 “And he said: ‘Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.’”

In a world where many people are driven by pride, self-importance, and the desire for recognition, God still places great value on humility. Humility is not weakness; it is a mark of spiritual maturity and a necessary virtue in the life of every believer.

Jesus made it clear that humility is not optional in the Kingdom of God. In fact, He taught that unless a person becomes like a little child, they cannot truly walk in the realities of God’s kingdom. This shows how important humility is in our relationship with God and in our journey toward eternal life.

Using children as an example, Jesus revealed powerful qualities believers must develop. Children are generally teachable, innocent, trusting, and humble in heart. They are not consumed with status, pride, or the constant need to prove themselves. They are easily corrected, willing to learn, and quick to depend on others.

You see, one of the greatest expressions of humility is the willingness to take a lowly position without feeling diminished. Proud people always seek recognition, attention, and superiority, but humble people are secure enough to serve, learn, and grow quietly.

When you are humble, it makes you approachable, teachable, and easy to guide. It allows you to receive correction without offense and instruction without resistance. Know that many people fail in life not because they lack talent or opportunity, but because pride has made them difficult to teach and impossible to correct.

If you truly desire growth, wisdom, honor, and spiritual depth, then cultivate humility. Be willing to learn. Be willing to serve. Be willing to accept correction. Never allow pride to harden your heart.

True greatness in the Kingdom begins with humility.

Read: Proverbs 22:4 “Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life.”

Prayer: Lord, help me to walk in genuine humility before You and before others.

THERE IS SECURITY WITH GOD

Proverbs 18:10 “The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous runs to it and is safe and set on high [far above evil].” (AMP).

One of things you can be assured of with God is security. When you are under the Lordship of Christ, you are safe and protected from harm today and in eternity. Not only that, but you are also delivered from loss and damage and anything that will make you suffer defeat in life.

With this assurance, no child of God, must live with a sense of insecurity in life. As a Christian no matter the happenings of life, your life is not under threat. The psalmist said “For God will command His angels in regard to you, To protect and defend and guard you in all your ways [of obedience and service].” (Psalm 91). Thus, don’t live in fear of what you see, and even what you don’t see.

You see, nothing can truly secure a man’s life apart from God. No fetish priest, protective amulet, or any occultic practices can save and protect your interest genuinely without ill consequences. Thus, when you feel and see the tides against you, turn to the Lord, He is your ever present help.

Like the song writer said, “safe in the arm of Jesus, safe on His gentle breast” know that with God, nothing can destroy your life. No power of hell and no scheme of man can ever pluck you from His hand.

Keep your faith high and keep serving the Lord, for you are in a safe place.

Read: Psalm 91:1 “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will remain secure and rest in the shadow of the Almighty [whose power no enemy can withstand].”

Prayer: Lord, thank you for being my security in life, for no power of the devil can destroy my life

HAVE RESPECT FOR SPIRITUAL THINGS

Acts 27:10-11 “And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives. Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.”

Life is not only governed by physical and natural laws. There is a spiritual dimension to life as well. Thus, it is necessary to recognise and respect spiritual things in the course of life. These spiritual things may play out in different forms and ways. It could come through teachings, divine directions, warnings and personal revelations or encounters with respect to things we are doing or about to do.

In our opening text, we see how Paul’s spiritual insight and guidance was ignored in favour of the pilot and the owner of the ship. Although Paul was not a pilot, he was speaking out of a spiritual insight, and not as an expert, but this does not mean what he was saying must not be considered. Subsequent texts reveal how he was justified in the end.

You see, aside our knowledge in the natural, God has also given us the Holy Spirit and people he has anointed and given special graces to help us in the course of life. Thus, trying to limit everything to logic and facts, can make you disrespect and disregard spiritual things and even spiritual people (people anointed and graced by God with unique manifestations).

Throughout scripture, we cannot underestimate spiritual things. How did water turn into wine in Cana ?, how did the man at the Pool of Siloam received his sight?, how was the five thousand and over crowd fed.? It all came by spiritual directions and instructions which are contrary to logic, but it blessed people.

You see, God has made available these grace for men by His Spirit, to help us. They are real, and genuine. You must respect it and believe it. The fact that some have abused it doesn’t take away its power and relevance, be guided.

Read: 1 Corinthians 12:4,6-7 “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to respect and believe the supernatural. Amen

SAY NO TO UNGODLINESS

Jude 1:4 “For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.”

Ungodliness is a real phenomenon, particularly in these last days. Everywhere we turn, there is increasing corruption, moral decay, rebellion against God, and open disregard for His Word. The signs of ungodliness are evident in the systems of the world, the choices of people, and even in the attitudes of many Christians.

As a believer, one truth must remain settled in your heart: “you are called to a life of godliness”. You cannot genuinely live under the Lordship of Christ and comfortably practice ungodliness. A Christian must be determined to travel the path of godliness by retaining God in their knowledge, honoring His Word, and maintaining reverence for the things of God.

To be ungodly is to live without reverence for God. It is to reject His authority and choose a lifestyle driven by fleshly desires rather than divine principles. Ungodliness makes people careless about sin, careless about holiness, and careless about pleasing God.

You see, ungodliness constantly pulls people back into the very things Christ died to save them from. It turns the grace of God into an excuse for immorality, compromise, and rebellion against truth.

Therefore, saying no to ungodliness requires deliberate and straightforward godly decisions. You cannot claim to pursue holiness while surrounding yourself with corrupt influences. You must be intentional about the company you keep, the conversations you entertain, the music you listen to, the content you watch, and the environments you expose yourself to.

Psalm 1 teaches that the blessed man avoids the counsel of the ungodly, the path of sinners, and the seat of mockers. This means godliness is not accidental but a conscious decision to separate yourself from influences that weaken your spiritual life.

In these last days, guard your heart carefully. Do not normalize immorality. Do not celebrate what God condemns. Do not allow social trends, worldly culture, or ungodly associations to shape your values.

Your duty toward the ungodly is to preach the gospel to them and shine as light in the world, not to participate in the same corrupt lifestyle. Resist every influence that seeks to push you into compromise.

God is still looking for believers who will stand for truth, purity, and righteousness in a corrupt generation.

Read: Psalm 1:1 “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers.”

Prayer: Lord, help me to walk in godliness and keep my heart pure before You. Give me the courage to reject every form of ungodliness and the wisdom to make decisions that honor You, in Jesus’ name. Amen

IT IS REWARDING TO WORK FOR THE LORD

1 Corinthians 15:58 “So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.” (New Living Translation)

Working for the Lord is one of the greatest privileges given to a believer. It is not a burden, neither is it a waste of time. Every sacrifice, effort, prayer, service, and contribution made for the advancement of God’s kingdom carries eternal value and divine reward.

Many people wrongly assume that the work of God is reserved only for pastors, evangelists, prophets, or church leaders. But the truth is that kingdom service is the responsibility of every believer. Working for the Lord is not about titles or public recognition; it is about making yourself available for God’s purpose in whatever way you can.

In your own small way, you can contribute to the advancement of the gospel. You can pray for souls, support kingdom projects, encourage believers, win souls, serve in church, give toward God’s work, help the needy, use your skills for ministry, and represent Christ wherever you find yourself. Never think your contribution is insignificant. God values every sincere act done for His kingdom.

The Apostle Paul assured the church in Corinth that nothing done for the Lord is ever useless. This means your labor in God’s kingdom is never ignored by heaven. There is always a reward attached to faithful service.

This understanding should make you bold, confident, and committed in serving God. Unfortunately, many believers become fearful when following God begins to demand sacrifice. Some become insecure when they have to let go of worldly pleasures, unhealthy relationships, wrong associations, or personal ambitions to fully pursue God’s purpose.

But you must understand this principle in walking with God: whatever you hold too tightly outside God may eventually leave you, but whatever you are willing to surrender for God’s sake, He is able to restore in a greater and better way.

Sometimes, following God wholeheartedly will require difficult decisions. You may have to separate yourself from certain friendships, environments, habits, or pursuits that hinder your spiritual growth. Yet, no one who genuinely sacrifices for God ever loses in the end.

Read: Mark 10:29-30 “‘Truly I tell you,’ Jesus replied, ‘no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age… and in the age to come eternal life.’”

Prayer: Lord, grant me the grace to serve You faithfully and wholeheartedly. Help me never to see kingdom service as a burden, but as a privilege. Use my life to advance Your kingdom,

LEARN TO BE RESPONSIBLE IN LIFE

Matthew 24:45-46 “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns.”

Everyone gets tired. Everyone faces pressure, disappointments, challenges, and difficult seasons in life. However, the people who eventually stand out are those who never allow hardship, emotions, or pressure to make them irresponsible.

Responsibility is one of the greatest qualities a person can develop in life. Success, growth, leadership, and influence are built on it. Without responsibility, potential is wasted, opportunities are destroyed, and destinies are delayed.

Being responsible means deliberately taking ownership of your life, duties, and assignments. It means understanding what is expected of you and organizing yourself properly to deliver results. Responsible people do not wait to be forced before acting. They think ahead, plan well, and take action at the right time.

One major sign of irresponsibility is constantly focusing on what others are not doing while neglecting your own duties. Many people spend their lives complaining, murmuring, criticizing, and running commentary on everything around them. But in most cases, those who talk excessively about what others should do often become negligent in what they themselves ought to do.

Responsibility demands maturity. Stop waiting for “someone else” to fix things. Stop assuming others must always carry the burden. Learn to do the needful without excuses or unnecessary complaints.

You must understand that responsibility is learned. The earlier you learn it, the better your life becomes. As a young Christian, you must train yourself early to be responsible with your time, spiritual life, finances, relationships, work, and assignments. The quality of your future will largely depend on the level of responsibility you build today.

You cannot live carelessly today and expect to become a responsible husband, wife, pastor, leader, teacher, or professional tomorrow. Responsibility does not suddenly appear; it is developed through consistent discipline and accountability over time.

Many things in life are destroyed because of irresponsible people. Marriages collapse because people refuse to take responsibility. Ministries stagnate because leaders become careless. Businesses fail, destinies are wasted, and even nations suffer economic hardship because people neglect their duties.

Irresponsibility may seem small at first, but its consequences are costly. Failure and shame often become the teachers of those who refuse to learn responsibility early in life.

Therefore, determine within yourself to build the capacity to be responsible. Be dependable. Be disciplined. Be diligent. Learn to finish what you start. Learn to act without constant supervision. Learn to give your best even when nobody is watching.

Responsible people are trusted with greater opportunities because they have proven faithful with little things.

Read: Proverbs 12:24 “The hand of the diligent will rule, while the slothful will be put to forced labor.”

Prayer: Lord, deliver me from laziness, excuses, and irresponsibility. Help me to become disciplined, dependable, and diligent in every area of my life.

BE A PASSIONATE SOUL WINNER

Mark 16:15 “And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”

Every born again believer has been given a divine mandate to win souls for Christ. Soul winning is not an assignment for only pastors, evangelists, or church leaders; it is the responsibility of every Christian. This is one of the greatest missions entrusted to us by God, and it must become a priority in our lives.

You see, soul winning is not a suggestion; it is a command. One day, God will require an account of how faithfully we carried out this assignment. Jesus said in Matthew 28:19–20, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you…”

You have a divine responsibility not only to preach the Gospel, but also to help people grow in obedience to God’s Word. Christianity is not merely about making converts; it is about making disciples.

God values the souls of men so deeply that He gave His only Son to die on the cross for their salvation. When you truly understand how precious souls are to God, you will never treat evangelism casually. You will become burdened for the lost and passionate about leading people to Christ.

As a believer, you must never be ashamed or reluctant to share the Gospel because it is “the power of God unto salvation.” (Romans 1:16).

You see, the answer to this dying world is not found in politics, wealth, or human systems. The true hope of humanity is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It saves, restores, heals, transforms, and gives eternal life.

Be the voice God uses to rescue someone from destruction today. A word from you, a prayer, an invitation to church, or a simple act of witness can lead a soul to Christ.

Read: Jude 1:23 “And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.”

Prayer: Lord, give me a burden for lost souls and the grace to be an effective and faithful soul winner.

THINK RIGHT!

Proverbs 23:7 “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.”

One of the greatest habits you can develop in life is the habit of thinking right. Your thoughts shape your mindset, and your mindset influences the direction and outcome of your life. The way you think affects what you believe, what you confess, and ultimately what you become.

How you think has a powerful impact on the mindset you develop in life. It influences what you consider possible or impossible. Thus, your way of thinking can either imprison you or liberate you. Many people are limited, not because opportunities are absent, but because their thinking has become small, fearful, and negative.

The importance of right thinking cannot be overemphasized. To think right, you must deliberately reject negative thoughts. Negative thinking produces negative results, while positive and faith-filled thinking produces positive outcomes. Many of the great inventions, achievements, and breakthroughs we see today first began as thoughts in someone’s mind. A thought may seem small, but when nurtured, it can grow into something great. That is why you must guard your thoughts carefully.

As a Christian, God has given you His Word to help shape your thinking. You must study the Word and allow it to dominate your mind. Anything that contradicts God’s Word is not worth entertaining, regardless of who says it. Scripture says, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” In other words, your thoughts are forming your character, shaping your attitude, and influencing your destiny.

Philippians 4:8 says, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things.”
Do not allow just anything to occupy your heart and mind. Guard your thoughts diligently. Focus on things that are pure, uplifting, admirable, and full of virtue.

No matter the situation you face, choose to think right. Are your thoughts truthful and noble? Are they uplifting your spirit or weighing you down? Are they producing faith or fear? Remember, the condition of your mind will eventually reflect in the quality of your life.

Read: 2 Corinthians 10:5 “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”

Prayer: Lord, help me to renew my mind with Your Word and give me the grace to think right in every situation.
