HONOUR YOUR PARENTS

Ephesians 6:1–3 “Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do. ‘Honor your father and mother.’ This is the first commandment with a promise: ‘If you honor your father and mother, things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.’”

There are certain people God specifically commands us to honour, and parents are high on that list. Whether father or mother, your parents deserve honour. This is not merely a suggestion or something based on feelings. It is God’s instruction to every child.

Honour goes beyond words. It involves respect, appreciation, esteem, and right actions toward those you are called to honour. To honour someone means you recognize their value and treat them with dignity and importance.

When it comes to parents, honour is not only about saying kind things. It is expressed through obedience, respectful speech, care, support, gratitude, and the way you respond to them publicly and privately. In some seasons, honour may also involve helping them materially and standing by them when they are in need.

Never think you are doing your parents a favour by honouring them. Honour is a responsibility before God. They may not be perfect, but God still commands that they be treated with respect.

Sadly, some people dishonour their parents through harsh words, insults, neglect, pride, or public disrespect. Others make their parents feel unwanted or burdensome. This ought not to be so among believers. Honour does not humiliate. Honour does not mock weakness. Honour recognizes value and expresses it with humility.

The beautiful thing about this commandment is that it carries a promise. God says when you honour your father and mother, it will go well with you and you will enjoy long life on the earth. This means honour opens doors for divine blessing, preservation, and well being.

As you grow in life, never outgrow honour. No matter your status, achievements, education, or influence, always remember the place of your parents in your life. Speak to them respectfully. Appreciate their sacrifices. Support them where necessary. Let them feel valued and loved.

A person who learns honour positions himself for lasting blessings in life.

Read: Deuteronomy 5:16 “Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.”

Prayer: Lord, give me a humble heart and the wisdom to honour my parents and all those to whom I owe honour. Amen.

TAKE HEED TO YOURSELF

1 Timothy 4:16 “Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine…”

One of the most important disciplines of the Christian life is self examination. It is the habit of regularly checking your life in the light of God’s Word. This helps you stay aligned with truth and keeps your heart and conduct on the right course.

Thus, deep introspection is necessary. You must learn to sincerely look within and examine your character, your motives, and the direction of your desires. This is how spiritual growth is sustained. Without it, a believer gradually drifts away without even noticing it.

You see, many believers begin well but do not end well because they stop checking themselves. Over time, neglect quietly erodes spiritual strength. What once was fire becomes routine. What once was conviction becomes mere words without consistent action.

Self examination helps you detect early signs of drift. It keeps your life honest before God. It reminds you that Christianity is not only about what you know or declare, but how you live and represent Christ daily.

Never glory in how long you have been a Christian. Rather, glory in how much of Christ is formed in you and how well your life reflects the kingdom of God.

Be careful not to fall into the habit of always analyzing others while ignoring yourself. One healthy personal discipline is to be strict with yourself and gracious with others. It is easier to see another person’s weakness than to confront your own, but spiritual maturity begins when you turn the searchlight inward.

Instead of always discussing the faults of others, place yourself on the altar of reflection. Ask God to search your heart and correct you where needed. Growth begins there.

Let this truth guide you in every area of life, your career, your ministry, your marriage, and your relationships. A well examined life is a stable and fruitful life.

Read: 1 Corinthians 10:12 “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.”

Prayer: Lord, give me a humble and vigilant heart to constantly examine myself and walk in truth

BE A CHANNEL OF HELP

Luke 6:31 “And as you would like and desire that men would do to you, do exactly so to them.” (AMPC)

One important truth in life is this: nobody succeeds entirely on their own. At different stages of life and ministry, we all need help. Some of the greatest breakthroughs, opportunities, and open doors in life come through people God places around us. These helps are God ordained. All we must do is discern them, value them, and humbly receive them.

There are certain helps that give leverage in life. They prevent you from starting all over again. God can bring people into your life whose wisdom, support, resources, counsel, prayers, encouragement, or opportunities move you forward faster and farther than you could have gone alone.

The Bible reveals that even our walk with God is sustained by divine help. Hebrews 1:14 teaches that angels minister to the heirs of salvation. Throughout Scripture, God used people to help fulfill His purposes in the lives of others. Jesus Himself lived a life centered on helping people. He healed the sick, fed the hungry, taught the ignorant, restored the broken, and ultimately gave His life for the salvation of humanity. His life was a mandate of help.

As Christians, we must not only position ourselves to receive help. We must also build the capacity to help others. Help people genuinely and with love.
Some people need salvation. Some need discipleship and spiritual guidance. Some need encouragement and friendship. Some need financial support or basic necessities. Others simply need someone willing to share life with them and believe in them.

One powerful way to attract help in life is to become a helper yourself. This is a divine principle woven throughout Scripture. Help operates under the law of sowing and reaping. When you help others sincerely, God causes help to return to you in greater measure. Luke 6:38 says: “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over…” Proverbs 21:13 also warns us: “He who shuts his ear to the cry of the poor will also cry himself and not be answered.”

This means when people harden their hearts toward others in need, they unknowingly close doors to help in their own lives. Refusing to care for others when you have the opportunity can hinder the flow of mercy and assistance toward you.

Also, never look down on people because you are helping them today. Never insult people’s dignity because you are in a better position at the moment. Life changes. Tables can turn. The same measure you use toward others may return to you someday.

Help people with humility. Help people with compassion. Help people without manipulation or pride. Help people genuinely.

As you continue to look to God for help, also become a vessel through which God helps others. The help you give today can become the seed for the help you receive tomorrow.

Help helps.

Read: Psalm 121:1–2 “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.”

Prayer: Lord, make me a vessel of help and blessing to others. Give me a compassionate heart and teach me to help people with love, humility, and sincerity. And as I help others, let Your divine help continually locate me. Amen.

LET GOD’S WORD GUIDE YOUR LIFE

1 Timothy 1:4 “Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do..”

All you need for life and godliness is found in God’s Word. People who neglect the Word rarely become effective and fruitful in life. But those who give attention to God’s Word position themselves for direction, wisdom, stability, and growth.

To go for the Word means to intentionally search the Scriptures, study them, believe them, and practice them daily. You cannot know what God expects of you if you do not make time for His Word. Through the Word, you discover your inheritance in Christ, understand God’s promises, know His plans and purposes for your life, and learn how to resist the devil and overcome life’s battles (Acts 20:32).

The Word of God teaches, corrects, directs, and trains us in righteousness. It gives wisdom for the affairs of life and insight for victorious living. The more you know and rightly apply, the better life becomes. Knowledge applied rightly produces results.

Many people struggle unnecessarily because they build their lives on opinions, assumptions, emotions, and human philosophies instead of Scripture. The Bible warns us not to give ourselves to ideas and speculations that do not produce godly edification (1 Timothy 1:4). Human opinions without God’s truth can easily lead a person into error.

Jesus said in Matthew 22:29, “Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.” This means ignorance of God’s Word can make people miss God’s best and walk in confusion. The absence of the Word creates room for deception, fear, instability, and wrong decisions.

As a believer, let God’s Word become your standard for living. Do not allow culture, trends, social media, or popular opinions to shape your convictions above Scripture. Build your life on the truth of God’s Word.

Always make God’s Word your first point of call. The more you know the truth and apply it faithfully, the more stable, fruitful, and victorious your life becomes.

Read: Psalm 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

Prayer: Lord, give me a hunger for Your Word and grant me wisdom to apply it rightly in every area of my life.

EVERY MOMENT COUNTS

Ephesians 5:16 “Making the most of every opportunity…”

Life is lived in seasons. Different events and experiences will characterize your journey from beginning to end. In all these phases of life, you must learn to do what is necessary to make every moment count.

One of the men in the Bible we can learn from on this subject is David, who later became king. He started from a lowly place as a keeper of his father’s sheep (1 Samuel 17:34). He had nothing of his own, yet he positioned himself to serve his father faithfully, even at the risk of his life as a young boy.

When a request was made by King Saul to find someone who could play the harp skillfully, the choice fell on David, a man who was mostly in the field with sheep. Interestingly, those who were known for music did not necessarily stand out like David did. His life had been built in secret.

See what was said of him in 1 Samuel 16:17–18: “So Saul said to his servants, ‘Provide me now a man who can play well, and bring him to me.’ Then one of the servants answered and said, ‘Look, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, who is a skillful musician, a mighty man of valor, a man of war, prudent in speech, and a handsome person; and the Lord is with him.’”
All these qualities were developed while he was still in the wilderness.

You see, David made himself more than just a sheep keeper. In the course of his service, he made every moment count. Though he fought no formal battles, he fought lions and bears that threatened his flock. Through this, he gained mastery in combat and became brave. He used wisdom to navigate dangerous situations in the wilderness. In all these, he took care of himself and never neglected his relationship with God.

David made every moment count before his day of prominence came. Before the opportunity to enter the palace, he had built all-round capacity for life. This was a result of faithful service and diligence in another man’s assignment.

What are you doing with your life today? Are you making every moment count? Even when there seems to be no opportunity, prepare yourself for greatness. Be willing to serve faithfully wherever you are, whether at home, at work, in church, or anywhere God has placed you.

Do not say you are waiting for better conditions or your own platform to give your best. That is “self-deception”. Preparation, service, experience, and practical learning always precede excellence and greatness in every field of endeavor. Be humble. Set aside your ego. Position yourself to learn and be willing to start small. That is the pathway to true greatness.

Read: Proverbs 22:29 “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”

Prayer: Lord, I receive the grace to give my best in every season of my life. Amen.

LAYING ON OF HANDS

Mark 16:17-18 “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; [18] They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

One of the supernatural activities in the Christian walk is laying on of hands. The bible describes it as part of the basic teachings about Christ (Hebrews 6). Just like any other teachings about Christ until you believe and practice it, you won’t benefit from it or even appreciate it.

In our opening text, the bible says that as part of the miraculous signs that will follow believers is laying on of hands on the sick for them to be healed. There is no argument about this. Thus, as a believer, apart from engaging in other spiritual activities that have a supernatural impact, you must do same to the laying on of hands.

You see, don’t reduce God’s word to linguistics and unnecessary debates. The truth is that, it’s not everything you can explain, you just have to believe. Is it about explaining how Peter walk on the water, how Dorcas was raised from the dead, or how the prophetic gifts and gifts of miracle find expression, there is not much to be said, than to believe.

You see, ignoring the supernatural or trying to downplay the supernatural or spiritual things all because you don’t understand it or you don’t practice it, does not rule out its efficacy and relevance in life. Miracles still happen. The sick can be healed when hands are laid on them. Graces and blessings can be imparted when hands are laid on people. Believe it, practice it, and you will not make it a matter of philosophical argument.

Read: Acts 19:6 “And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to walk in the supernatural always. Amen

THE PERFECT LOVE OF GOD

Romans 5:7–8 “For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

God’s love for us is not based on merit or personal achievement. He does not love us because we are perfect or deserving. He loves us in spite of our weaknesses and flaws. The Scripture makes it clear that while men may hesitate to give their lives even for a good person, Christ chose to die for us when we were still in sin and completely helpless. This is the highest expression of unconditional love.

Though love is a word commonly used in the world today, the kind of love many display falls short of God’s standard. Human love is often conditional, influenced by feelings, benefits, or circumstances. But God’s love is different. He loves the sinner just as He loves the saint.

Always be conscious of this truth: God loves you deeply, and He is not against you. Let this understanding shape your confidence in life. Do not allow rejection, criticism, or the opinions of others to define your worth. You are loved by the Creator of the world. His love is constant, unfailing, and trustworthy. Lamentations 3:22–23 reminds us that His mercies are new every morning and His faithfulness is great.

Beloved, God is love, and His love is perfect and unconditional. It is not limited by circumstances or situations. Do not take this love lightly. Rather, grow in it and reflect it, knowing that you are a child of the Most High God.

Let this love be evident in your relationships with others. Love people without conditions. Show kindness, extend help, and bring joy to those who are forgotten or hurting. Let your life become a channel through which others experience the love of God.

Read: John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”

Prayer: Lord, help me to understand and walk in the fullness of your love. Teach me to love others unconditionally, just as you have loved me.

EXCEL IN THE GRACE OF GIVING

2 Corinthians 8:7 “But since you excel in everything in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you, see that you also excel in this grace of giving.”

As believers, we are called to excel in every dimension of the Christian life, including giving. Our growth must not be limited to spiritual virtues alone. It must also be reflected in our willingness and commitment to give. True Christian maturity is balanced. It is not one sided. You must not pursue holiness, faith, and love while neglecting the grace of giving. Giving is not optional. It is a vital expression of your walk with God.

Today, many believers struggle in this area. Some do not give consistently, while others do not see the importance of supporting the work of God. This mindset often leads to prioritizing personal comfort over Kingdom advancement, with little or no concern for the needs of the Church.

However, the reality is clear. When the Church lacks financial strength, its impact is limited. The work of God requires resources to reach lives, support ministry, and expand influence. This is why both individuals and the Church must grow in the grace of giving, so that the mission of God remains active and effective in the earth.

To become a passionate and consistent giver, you must understand that your prosperity is for a purpose. Your resources are not just for personal use. They are tools for advancing God’s agenda. Zechariah 1:17 reminds us that through prosperity, God’s cities are spread abroad. This means that your giving plays a role in extending God’s work and bringing comfort and transformation to many.

Advancing God’s Kingdom requires both spiritual power and material support. One without the other can limit effectiveness. The early Church understood this and lived it out. Acts 2:44–45 says, “And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.” Their generosity sustained the community and strengthened the Church.

Be a giver. Make a conscious decision to support the work of God. Be consistent and intentional. Become a Kingdom financier who understands the value of investing in what matters eternally.

Read: 2 Corinthians 9:7 “So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver”

Prayer: Lord, help me to grow in the grace of giving. Teach me to give willingly, cheerfully, and consistently as I support your work and advance your Kingdom.

SEPARATED AND SANCTIFIED

2Timothy 2:4 “No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”

Your primary assignment as a believer is to please God. It is the very essence of your calling. Thus, you must never allow anything to distract you in this pursuit.

You see, the bible makes it clear that your ability to please God is directly tied to your separation and sanctification. You cannot walk closely with God while holding tightly to the ways of the world. As a child of God, you are called to live a life that is set apart, free from sin and from the ungodly pleasures that compete for your attention.

Just as a soldier does not entangle himself with civilian affairs. In the same way, you must guard your heart against anything that distracts you from your walk with God. Do not allow temporary pleasures to derail your eternal purpose.

Never forget that this world and all that is in it will pass away. Only those who are separated unto God will remain with Him in glory. Do not struggle to fit in or seek validation from a system that is passing away. Stand firm in your identity. Come out from among them and be set apart unto God.

Choose holiness. Choose separation. Choose to live a life that pleases God.

Read: 1 John 2:15–17 “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world… And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.”

Prayer: Lord, help me to live a life that is separated from the world and fully devoted to pleasing You. Amen.

FULFILL THE LAW OF CHRIST

Galatians 6:1–2 “Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”

As a believer, your walk with God must go beyond your personal growth and development. God expects you to take an active interest in the welfare of others in the body of Christ. Christianity is not a journey of isolation. It is a shared life where we are called to support, strengthen, and restore one another.

The body of Christ is made up of believers at different stages of growth. Some are new in the faith, some are growing, and others are more mature. Regardless of the level, everyone is on a journey toward spiritual maturity. No one has arrived. We are all progressing from one level to another, and this is why we must be intentional about helping one another along the way.

You are called to be your brother’s keeper. If God has given you understanding, strength, or maturity, it is not for pride but for responsibility. You must use it to lift others. Refuse to live a self-centered life that says “me, myself, and I.” Instead, commit yourself to walking with others, guiding them, and helping them grow in the knowledge and fear of the Lord.

When a fellow believer falls into sin or makes a mistake, that is not the time to withdraw, criticize, or reject them. That is the time they need you the most. Scripture commands you to restore such a person with gentleness, not harshness. Restoration requires love, patience, and wisdom. Your role is not to condemn but to help bring them back on track so that the enemy does not take advantage of their weakness.

Do not use your knowledge or maturity to humiliate others. Use it to build, encourage, and strengthen them. And if you are a young believer, do not isolate yourself. Stay connected to those who are more mature. Learn from them, grow with them, and allow yourself to be guided in your walk with God.

Make room for someone today. Be intentional about lifting another person. When you carry the burdens of others and help restore them in love, you are fulfilling the law of Christ.

Read: Galatians 6:9 “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

Prayer: Lord, give me a heart that cares for others. Help me to walk in love, restore gently, and carry the burdens of my brothers and sisters.
