Cultivate the habit of being grateful.

“A sincere thank you can open another door”

1 Thessalonians 5:18 says “In every thing give thanks:for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you”.

Being grateful simply means you show appreciation for something done for you or something you have received. This important attitude must be your hallmark as a Christian.

You see, you must never let the pressures of life cause you to be busy or forgetful about being grateful. Let the attitude of being grateful be part of your pursuit in life.

Break that negative world order of today where nobody stops to say “thank you” either to God or to the people God brought their way to help in one way or the other.

On the subject of being grateful, Jesus’s encounter with the ten lepers reveals that God actually expects us to be grateful.
Remember, a sincere “thank you” accompanied with a positive attitude can open more doors for your success in life.
Don’t think you have it all, and become complacent and ungrateful.

Take heed in these last days

1 Thessalonians 5:1-2 says “But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.”

The last days marks the period that preceeds the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Perilous times shall come in these days. It will be full of challenges, difficulties and tribulations. These are the days when evil and sin will grow. People shall be vile and perverse.

Lack of knowledge in these times will cause many good Christians to fail the test of time.
It is very important for every believer to be vigilant, sober and watchful during these days. Remember that, the devil will enforce his schemes to capture those who are weak and have wavering faith. These are days where deception shall rise and ungodliness shall fill the earth.

Nonetheless be ready to live for Christ despite all these challenges.
Be led by the Spirit to discern good from bad. Also, pray for the Lord to open your eyes of understanding and give you the spirit of revelation. It will make you reign in the face of all these troubles.

Submit to correction

2 Timothy 3:16 says “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”

Correction is key to making things right. It helps us to refuse the wrong stuff in life and straighten our ways. It also instills knowledge for right doing.

You see, accepting correction is just like choosing wisdom over shame. It is important to know that correction is a guide to success. Whenever you accept correction, it opens doors of success with less or no casualties.

On the other hand, refusing correction is just like refusing wisdom and God. You must learn to accept any correction that comes to you because it will profit.
Never for one moment get angry and refuse correction. Rather, receive correction and change.

“Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die”

God’s word will make you prosperous

Joshua 1:8 says “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”

The word of God makes the way of the righteous prosperous. It straightens every crooked path and develops the mind for success.

When you constantly practice the word of God, it conditions you for success in all your endeavours. This is why you must meditate on the word of God.

You see, your faith is revived whenever you engage the word. The word produces faith for greater works. Those who live by the word controls the world.

Receive the grace to be elevated through the word.

Be an example to others in your purity

1 Timothy 4:12 says “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity”
Being a Christian means that you must live a pure or a holy life. Such moral excellence is what makes you an example.

When it comes to purity, God’s word is very emphatic and prescriptive. Christians are not to allow anything that corrupts or contaminates.

In word or deed, you must keep this moral principle without any excuse. That’s to say that, no action you take must lead you into immorality.

Whether in your thoughts or actions, holiness or purity must never be downplayed. You must hold in high esteem things that make you live a morally pure life; word study, prayer, good association, accountability, and godly mentorship.

Remember that this purity mandate is dear to God and must never be taken for granted.

Read: Ephesians 5:3 “But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people”

Be an example to others in your faith

1 Timothy 4:12 says “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity”.

Your “faith” as a Christian must challenge others. This is how you can be an example in this world.

Our walk with God is a faith walk. That’s to say that, we trust in the Lord and hold on to his word against all contrary opinions and happenings of life. When you live like this, you set an example for others.

You see, never vacillate when you are faced with challenges and never also walk out from your fellowship with God. Stand your grounds in faith. Your faith will prevail and it will be an example to others who may be facing one challenge or the other.

Prayer changes things: Nehemiah

Nehemiah 6:9 says: They were all trying to frighten us, thinking, “Their hands will get too weak for the work, and it will not be completed.” But I prayed, “Now strengthen my hands”.

Doing something significant in the midst of people who don’t like you or people who oppose a good work you are doing, can be heart aching and very discouraging. Nonetheless, there is a way out, and it is by prayer.

Nehemiah in his days had to gather people who were at the verge of giving up to rebuild the broken walls and gates of Jerusalem. Prayer became their mainstay in this herculean task.

Prayer gave them favour to have the materials needed for the mission, and prayer gave them courage in the face of accusations and intimidations from their opposers.
The walls were finally rebuilt with the gates fixed. In fact, prayers coupled with work brought them victory at the end of the day.

You see, you don’t have to give up on your God-given purpose because of opposition. In everything Pray!
God will see you through till every foe is vanquished and your mission is accomplished.

Prayer changes things: David

2 Samuel 15:31 says “And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O Lord, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness”.

King David was specially chosen and anointed by God. But his leadership was not exonerated from crises.
He was faced with a conspiracy that threatened to replace him as the Lord’s chosen, but he prayed it out.

The preceding verses in the book of 1 Samuel 15, reveals how Absalom the son of David rose up against his father and also discredited the father’s governance.

Help for the king seems gloomy, as it unfolds that his chief counselor, Ahitophel is on the side of Absalom. Nonetheless, prayer overturned the table. In fact, things changed.

Instances when you feel betrayed and left alone to suffer an ill fate, pray. Prayer will sustain you and bring you to the desired end God planned for you.
Just like David, you will win by prayer.

Prayer changes things: Jehoahaz

2 Kings 13:4 says “Then Jehoahaz prayed for the Lord’s help, and the Lord heard his prayer, for he could see how severely the king of Aram was oppressing Israel.”

Jehoahaz has ruled over Israel for seventeen years, but the king brought trouble into the land by following the evils of his predecessors or fathers who had ruled before him.

The doings of the king of Israel brought evil to them. They were taken captive by the king of Syria, but prayer turned away their misfortune.

Prayer made their troubles and captivity short lived. Truly, prayer changes things!

You see, it is clear that God does not wants his children to follow the wrong examples of others, so they don’t bring afflictions and troubles unto themselves. But when we fall short of his standard and pray to him for help, He forgives and delivers.

Prayer truly brings deliverance. Always know that when you pray, yokes, burdens and troubles are lifted from off your life.

You see, prayer gets you back to God and to get his help in whatever situation you are faced with.

Prayer changes things: Jesus.

Luke 22:41-42 says “And he (Jesus) was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done”.

Knowing the will of God and doing the will of God are two different things.
Most often than not, it will take prayers to empower you, before you can fully give yourself to the will of God for your life.

Our opening text, shows how Jesus had to incessantly give himself to prayer for God’s will, that is, him suffering, and dying on the cross to save humanity to become a reality.

Jesus had to pray to bring down his “own” will for the will of the father to be done.

You see, no matter how hard or tough you see God’s will, that’s actually God’s best for you.
You must therefore pray for the grace to fully give yourself to the will of God than to avoid it.

When you pray, you will receive divine enablement to do God’s will. In Jesus’s case, the Bible says, angels came and empowered him (Luke 22:43).
Whatever the will of God is for your life, never run away from it. Pray! It will enable you stand in God’s will for your ministry, marriage, career, and all that concerns you.
