“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost its savor, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under foot of men.”
Matthew 5:13.
Value can simply mean placing premium on something or a person. It can also mean how important something is to you.
Salt can also be defined as a mineral that helps in preserving food items for longer periods. As Christians bible says we are the salt of the world, meaning our presence here on earth preserves the people of the world. We are their source of direction and motivation. Through us they are able to know what and how to live for God.
The opening text continues to say… “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost its savor, wherewith shall it be salted?”
Once salt looses it’s value know that it’s of no use. It is not good for anything profitable but rather to be damped and trampled upon.
You see, you can only maintain your value as a Christian here on earth by knowing who you are. Knowing who your heavenly father has made you, and how he has called you to be a beacon of light wherever you find yourself. As a Christian strive to bring solutions to your world. Let the people around you feel the impact of your Christianity. Be their source light and direction (1Peter 2:9 ).
Refuse to live without purpose, refuse to live without a sense value, refuse to conform to the standards of this world. But rather live as one who knows his/her place in Christ.
