Those who care

The world is gradually moving away from being people focus to being focused on material things. In fact, almost everyone is on a journey to maximise their personal interest without a concern for any brother or sister. The genuine care that comes from the bowels of love is no longer a concern to people.

Nonetheless, God wants believers to be different. God demands that you show concern and care for others just as you would to yourself.

Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Philippi about the exceptional life of Timothy on this subject.
“I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, that I also may be cheered when I receive news about you. I have no one else like him, who will show genuine concern for your welfare. For everyone looks out for their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ. But you know that Timothy has proved himself, because as a son with his father he has served with me in the work of the gospel”
(Philippians 2:19-22)

To care means to show genuine concern or solicitous attention about something or someone, especially regarding their welfare.

Truthfully, you can’t express love without the element of care. Hence, whenever love is in motion, care is automatically displayed. You must learn to show great concern for the physical, psychological and spiritual well-being of others. Not just showing concern but making efforts to help where is needed. Care without any action is merely sympathy.

You see, the number one reason why you must care for others is because God cares for you.
“Casting all your care upon him(God), for he careth for you” (1 Peter 5:7).

From today, let your love be characterized by genuine care. Don’t only look at your interest.

“But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity”

God can help you

God is the God of helps. Throughout generations, he has proven his ability to help us even in our worst moment. This characteristic of God makes him the only one we can truly look up to in times of need and trouble without being disappointed.

Therefore David said in Psalms 34:5 that, “Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy, no shadow of shame will darken their faces”.
When you make God your helper, he satisfies you with goodness and brings joy into your heart.
That is why you must trust and look up to him and him alone in dire times.

The problem of most people is that, they don’t look up to God for help. They have relegated him as last resort for help.
For instance, when some Christian gets attacked with sickness, their families would first of all seek medical help, if it doesn’t work, then they resort to herbal medicine. When these two fails, then they come to the Church for divine healing.
They don’t seek God as their first point of call. In fact, they don’t trust in his timely deliverance and help.
This applies to people in need of various things. Some money, others job, and others too a life partner to marry.

But the Bible says, “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God” (Psalm 20:7).

You must understand that, only God can rightly help you. To trust man or other mediums for help would only lead you into frustration and disappointment.

God can help you, so learn to trust him.

“In times of trouble, may the lord answer your cry. May the name of the God of Jacob keep you safe from all harm. *May he send you help from his sanctuary and strengthen you from Jerusalem*”

The promise of life in Christ.

Christ is our heritage as Christians. Aside, being the life for us as Christians, Christ is also a place.
The Bible says “if any man be in Christ” he is a new creation(2 Corinthians 5:17).

The bible again says for in him we live and move.
“For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring” (Acts 17:28).
This is to say, all those who choose believe and surrender their earthly lives to Christ, would inherit a far better, glorious life in Christ Jesus.

The life we inherit in Christ does not render us handicap or limited as some assume. As a matter of fact, it’s a full package of divine health, struggle free prosperity and a taste of divinity on earth. It also gives us an assurance of a glorious eternity with God after our life on earth.

You see, the futures is bright and will be bright if and only if you are in Christ. Your success and prosperity is assured only in Christ through the life he promises to give you freely. That’s why you must surrender your life to the Lord “fully”.

To believe in your education, status, money, as pillars for your future is to believe in vanity.
This is because these things can’t stand the test of time and above all can’t give you life.

Everything you can have and be to please God is in Christ.
Yours is to accept his Lordship over your life and meditate on his word to bring your mind in sync with the new life that is your spirit.

This is the only sure to have a great future.

God wants you healed

Sickness and disease are not from God, neither does he inflict it on his children. God does not derive any pleasure in your sickness, on the contrary, He wants you healed and living in divine health. That’s His earnest desire for you.

That’s why He said in 3 John 1:2 that “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth”.
Your prosperity, good health and peace of mind are his greatest desire for you.

The misconception that, sickness and disease are a punishment from God for sins has caused many people to accept that they don’t deserve divine healing. But you see, this is the falsehood preached by the devil himself.

Sickness has a life. It is an evil life, that torments the bodies of people and finally kills or destroys. God is not a killer, destroyer or thief like the devil. On the other hand, God is holy and righteous, hence such evil cannot stem from him. It is important to know that, God doesn’t punish nor afflict people with sickness.

God promised in Exodus 23:25 to deliver us from sickness. “And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee”

God is our healer and he is ever ready to heal you of every sickness or infirmity. Don’t hesitate to call on him for healing.

As you read and meditate on God’s word, may you experience healing in every part of your life.
Amen.

Be an example to other believers

1 Timothy 4:12 says “Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity”.
Your call as a Christian is to an example to other believers.

To be an example simply means living by some standards that others can follow or imitate. Being an example also means modeling your life in a manner that can positively influence people around you.
You see, no matter the level of your faith, God has called each and every one of us to be a positive influence to one another.

No wonder the Bible says that, we are the light of the world and the salt of the earth. Meaning that, by all standards the believer must stand out in life.

The Bible in our opening text, listed five main things that believers must live out to become an example to one another in the body of Christ. These includes, what you say, the way you live, your love life, your faith, and your purity.

You see, as stated earlier, irrespective of whether you are new in the faith or not, you must set a example in the body of Christ. In fact, a good example.
The words you use or what you say must positively influence someone, the way you live must not mislead people, but rather spur them on in their walk with God, your love and faith must be something that can be well spoken of and above all your purity in this end times must also be unquestionable.

Set your heart on these virtues and constantly ensure that you do nothing short of this. This is one way you can help build a glorious body of Christ till Christ comes.

But we preach Christ crucified

“But we preach Christ crucified”… (1 Corinthians 1:23)

The single most important need of mankind is Christ. The chain of troubles facing the world cannot be eradicated by instituting more systems or by presidential powers. What the world needs is the salvation that comes through Christ.

On this note we are reminded in Acts 4:12 that this,
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

This is why Christ must be preached throughout the entire world. The responsibility of preaching to the world lies on the shoulders of every child of God or believer.
You see, it is the ministry of every believer to preach Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:19)

You are an ambassador of God with the message of salvation. The message is that, through the crucifixion and death of Christ, the world is saved from the power of sin and death and any demonic influence that brings destruction.

As simple as it may seem, this is the message that brings hope, peace and love into the world. This is why you must not neglect your duty of sharing the gospel.

Speak to yourself!

Ephesians 5:18-19 “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; *Speaking to yourselves* in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord”

Experiencing the power of God or living a spirit filled life is connected to the words you release or speak to yourself. In talking about being filled with the Spirit, the Bible makes us understand that, we can also do so by “speaking”.

The Bibles says speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. Thus, to live a spirit filled life you must speak in psalms, and spiritual songs to yourself and also to one another.

Speaking the wrong things or voicing out words that is not in line with God’s word for your life can “make void” the spiritual atmosphere around you and also quench the move of the Spirit in your life.

That is why you must not talk yourself down irrespective of what you see, or what happens around you. You must come to the place where you give no room for “wrong words to proceed out of your mouth”.

No matter what happens sing and make melody in your heart to God, tell yourself it is well, tell yourself you God is in charge, and above all tell yourself everything is working together for your good.

Remember, your fellowship with the spirit and the atmosphere you operate from depends on the words you speak, and especially what you speak to yourself.

Humility is your responsibility

There are many things God can and has done for us as believers, but the ability to stay humble isn’t one of them. It’s your responsibility as an individual to make yourself humble and to also keep yourself as such.

Our greatest example on humility is Jesus, our chief shepherd. He had every right to be equal with God, act as God and to boast in that, but chose to make himself of no reputation in order to get us saved through his death. See Philippians 2:5-8.

Therefore humility is the ability to exercise power with high discretion. Having authority over someone but choosing not to Lord it over them is humility.

You see, humility is not a spiritual gift, neither is it one of the fruits of the spirit. Therefore you can be “highly spiritual” yet be very proud and arrogant.

Humility is a choice and God won’t make this choice for you. You have the freewill to decide to be either humble or rebel against God.

Nonetheless, you must understand that both comes with their perks and pitfalls.
Keeping yourself humble is a choice that makes you a candidate to obtain Grace. The Bible tells us that God gives more grace to the humble.
“But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, *but giveth grace unto the humble*” (James 4:6)
Hence, the more humble you are, the more easily you obtain Grace before God.

Learn to stay humble.
You will be blessed greatly by it.

Read: Proverbs 29:23
A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

Do it with all your heart

Dealing with men is very different than with God. Men are limited to the what their five senses can receive. Hence it’s easy to deceive men especially when it comes to work. But the case is different when it comes to God. He sees as far as what is in the heart to reward you.
Thus, whatever you do physically without the backings of your heart does not attract God’s attention.

That’s why the Bible says “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men”
(Colossians 3:23)

This is God’s standard when it comes to work. Whether working for God or man. Thus eye service is not something any believer must go with. Although we have a generation of ‘actors’ where it’s difficult to detect the true intentions of people you must stand out when God calls you to work for him or any man.

Your service to God and man must be borne from and backed by your heart. Your actions must not be contradicted by what’s in your heart.

You see, with God it’s either you are serving or performing. But take note that God rewards service not performance.

Don’t be a man pleaser.
Serve with all your heart.

“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him”.

Be ready against Temptation

Temptations are bound to happen to every believer. These temptations are worked out and backed by the devil with the sole purpose of derailing you from your belief and cause you to loose confidence in your walk with God. Nonetheless, God expects of you to be ready against temptation and not be taken unawares by it.

Apostle Paul in teaching this great lesson said,
“Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (1 Corinthians 10:12,13).

To be on your guard against temptation, you must not presume you are beyond temptation because of your spiritual height or “level” in the faith. As a matter of fact, the devil’s main targets are those who ‘presume’ they are standing and they stay off guard.

The watch word for every believer is to take heed. In other words, be careful. Be careful of who you associate with, be careful of what really interests you and the things you desire for.

You see, the devil will not tempt you with things that are unfamiliar with you. On the contrary, your biggest temptations would come from the things that are common to you. Things you are familiar with, your familiar places and your familiar desires.

But in all these, always know that God is faithful. He will not stand by and watch you go through any temptation stronger than you. Therefore, any temptation that comes to you, know that you have what it takes to overcome it.

Be an overcomer over temptations.

“For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin”
