LIVE AN OBEDIENT LIFE

1 Samuel 15:22
“But Samuel replied: ‘Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.’”

In today’s world, many believers are tempted to substitute religious activities for genuine obedience. But God desires something deeper and more personal—our complete submission to His will. Obedience is not just a duty; it is an expression of love and trust in the Lord.

As a Christian, your obedience to the Lord must be non-negotiable. You must always be ready and willing to do what the Lord demands of you at any point in time. This is what it means to live an obedient life.

In your walk with the Lord, you must prioritize every instruction He gives you and follow it without compromise. God’s Word, the promptings of the Spirit, and the teachings you receive should not remain as mere information. They require your obedience. You must completely do what God says.

You see, living an obedient life demands that you submit your will and your thoughts to the Lord. By doing so, you will not oppose or resist what God tells you. Instead, you will be ready to obey without hesitation or difficulty.

Don’t be a Christian who disregards obedience. That attitude will only hinder your growth, reduce your spiritual relevance, and may even lead to backsliding in the faith.

Make obedience your hallmark. Yes, it may cost you something, especially since not everyone is willing to live that kind of life due to the price involved—but be assured: obeying God—His Word, the voice of the Spirit, and the instructions that shape your walk with Him—is His will, and it brings blessings.

Read: Isaiah 1:19 – “If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land.”

Prayer: Lord, help me to always obey Your Word. Amen.

A PATIENT ATTITUDE IS MORE VALUABLE

Ecclesiastes 7:8
“The conclusion of something is better than its beginning, and a patient attitude is more valuable than a proud one.”

In a fast-paced world where quick results are often glorified, it’s easy to overlook the quiet power of patience. Nonetheless, one of the priceless virtues in life is patience. Its nature and its impact on humanity make it desirable to everyone, irrespective of a person’s faith. Yet, not many people practice it.

Patience can best be described as a display of tolerance while awaiting an outcome. As Christians, our journey with the Lord will go through many phases. Bringing out the best in yourself in your daily life requires that you exercise patience.

It takes patience to learn God’s Word, understand God’s Word, and practice God’s Word. Expecting a quick fix after being born again, or in your walk with God, is a display of impatience. It is the attitude of patience that will help you go through the growth process as a Christian.

Don’t allow yourself to be carried away by “hastiness,” especially when there is a need for patience. You see, many who traveled the road of unnecessary haste created waste. That’s why a patient attitude is more valuable.

Be patient in life. Be patient when the Lord wants you to tarry, like how the disciples of old had to tarry for the promise of the Father (Luke 24:49). Be patient when you must build your faith for some promises in God’s Word. When you are walking with God, don’t run out of patience.

Yes, God has promised that there is hope for you and that your future will be great according to His divine plan—but you need patience. Until the time of your word, you need patience. Whether it is about your ministry, career, marriage, relationship, or travel opportunities, do the needful and be diligent—but you need patience in the journey. The slightest display of impatience in these critical areas of life can make you a “sick patient” due to errors or lack of proper guidance.

Walking with God is a journey that requires patience. So, be steady and stay the course. Safe journey!

Read: Hebrews 10:36 – “For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.”

Prayer: Lord, grant me grace to be patient in life. Amen.

LIVING TO PLEASE GOD.

“So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh”
Galatians 5:16

The scripture above is pointing to a way of life that pleases God, It is talking about walking by the recreated human spirit. The recreated human spirit is the new man. It is the “you”in you. That is the real man on the inside. You are not just a body. The real you is a spirit. That is what has been made alive or quickened by God when you received Jesus as your Lord and personal savior. See Ephesians 2:1 “And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins”.

So you see, walking by the spirit as the word says refers to walking by the recreated human spirit, walking by new man on the inside, walking by the quickened man on the inside or walking by your spirit that is now in sync with the spirit of God.

Your recreated human spirit is perfect. It knows and understands the will of God. Thus living by it will always cause you to walk in the perfect will of God.

There is nothing like bitterness, anger, pride, fornication, adultery, covetousness and the like in your born again spirit. As a matter of fact, no born again Christian will ever be at ease with sin. With your recreated human spirit in place, your conscience, or the voice of your inner man won’t free you when you get into sinning.

This walk also gives you an invitation to a place of devotion to God where you secure the power to live a life that pleases him on daily basis.

Walking by the spirit will cause you to be on track for the Lord. Be more concerned to live by the spirit. Turning to the flesh or the promptings of the flesh will cause you to stagger in the faith and also hinder your growth in the Lord.

Read: Galatians 5:25 “If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit”.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to always walk by the spirit.

SPEAK THE TRUTH

Proverbs 6:16–17
“These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him; a proud look, a lying tongue…”

Beloved, one of the most grievous offenses before God is the sin of lying. The Bible does not mince words about it: “a lying tongue” is detestable to the Lord. This is not a matter to take lightly. God demands absolute truth from His children because lying is not compatible with the new life we’ve received in Christ.

To lie is to speak something false with the intention to deceive. Every lie, no matter how small it may seem, is rooted in deception—and deception is the very nature of the devil. Jesus said in John 8:44 that Satan is the father of lies: “When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.” This means that every time a believer lies, they are behaving more like the enemy than like Christ.

Let this sink in deeply: you cannot walk in the light of Christ and still entertain lies. As a child of God, your words must be grounded in truth. Your “yes” should mean yes, and your “no”, no. Anything beyond that invites sin and opens the door to judgment.

Lying is not only a sin against God, it also damages people. Lies break trust, divide friends, and destroy relationships. And no matter how long a lie hides in the shadows, it will eventually come to light. Whatever you gain by lying will not last; it will collapse, because it was never built on truth.

Make a firm decision today to reject all forms of lying. Don’t excuse it. Don’t downplay it. Don’t justify it. Let your life reflect Jesus—the Truth. Let honesty mark your words and your character.

Read: Ephesians 4:25 “Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.”

Prayer: I pray for the grace to always speak the truth.

BREAK AWAY FROM COMPROMISING RELATIONSHIPS.

2 Corinthians 6:14
“Do not be unequally bound together with unbelievers [do not make mismatched alliances with them, inconsistent with your faith]. For what partnership can righteousness have with lawlessness? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?”

Who you choose to walk with in life matters deeply to God. Your associations speak volumes about your values, and they carry eternal consequences. God’s word is not vague about this, it tells you clearly who should and should not be your close companion.

As a believer, you are commanded by Scripture to bind yourself only to those who honor the Lord. You are not called to blend into the world but to be set apart. To deliberately form close bonds with those who despise or ignore the truth of God is a dangerous and destructive compromise.

Many Christians have chosen to ignore this clear instruction, hoping to manage the consequences, but compromise always has a cost. You cannot walk closely with those who reject God and expect to remain unaffected. If your goal is Heaven and your heart is serious about Christ, then you cannot afford to form casual or covenant relationships with the ungodly.

1 Corinthians 15:33 warns us plainly: “Do not be deceived: Bad company corrupts good morals.” It doesn’t matter how wise, successful, or charming someone appears, if they are not submitted to Christ, they are not a safe influence for your soul.

Don’t be short-sighted. Don’t value temporary benefits, comfort, or emotional gratification over your eternal destiny. Ask yourself this hard question: “Will walking with this person lead me closer to God or away from Him?” Your answer will reveal more than you realize.

Read: 1 Corinthians 5:11 “But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.”

Prayer: Lord, give me the courage to walk away from every relationship that threatens my walk with You. Help me to value my destiny over my desires

LIVE BEYOND YOURSELF — DO SOMETHING GREAT FOR GOD.

Matthew‬ ‭10:39‬
“He that findeth his life shall lose it; and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.”

‭‭‬‬To attempt simply means to make a conscious effort, intended to accomplish a particular goal. Many people have made bold moves and achieved great things in life. But sadly, most of these achievements have been for personal gain or the benefit of others, not for God. Very few truly dare to do anything great for God.

If you will do anything meaningful for God, it starts with a willing heart. You must burn with passion and readiness to serve the Lord. God is not impressed by convenience, He honors obedience. Be prepared to follow every instruction God gives, no matter the cost (Isaiah‬ ‭1:19‬).

You must also be willing to deny yourself. That means letting go of anything—habits, relationships, comforts—that stands in the way of obeying God fully. Take up your cross daily and follow Christ without excuse (Luke‬ ‭9:23‬). A life of self-denial is the only path to spiritual significance.

Learn to say no to the fleeting pleasures and false security this world offers. You must be empty of self to be filled by God. Until you lay down your own desires, you are not in a position to receive what God truly wants to pour into your life.

Love God more than anything else. Let your love for Him outweigh your love for comfort, recognition, money, or status. When you love God deeply, you will not hesitate to take bold steps and do great things in His name, even when it costs you everything.

Even the apostles understood this. Paul, Peter, and the rest of the early disciples gave up everything to follow Christ, and through their obedience, God used them to shake the world. They did not cling to their own lives but poured them out for the sake of the Gospel.

Read: Matthew 19:29 “And every one that hath left houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit eternal life.”

Prayer: I pray for the heart that dares great things for you. Amen

PRACTICE CHILDLIKE HUMILITY

Matthew 18:3-4
“And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”

The call to humility is not optional. It is a non-negotiable requirement in our walk with God (Micah 6:8). Without genuine humility, access to certain spiritual heights, and ultimately, Heaven is impossible. Jesus was clear and uncompromising on this standard. He said “unless you humble yourself like a child, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven”.

In His teaching, Jesus didn’t just speak about humility, He gave a visible standard. He pointed to a child. This was not just an illustration, it was a demand. Little children, despite their immaturity, possess virtues that many adults lose with age, one of which is true humility.

Children are naturally lowly in heart, without inflated opinions of themselves. They are quick to yield, quick to believe, and easy to correct. That’s the model Jesus upholds. A child doesn’t wrestle with ego, pride, or the need to assert dominance like adults so often do.

This is where many believers fall short. Pride masks itself as confidence, self-worth becomes self-importance, and independence hardens into resistance to correction. These traits are dangerous and disqualifying in God’s kingdom.

You must drop the pride. Stop exalting your experience, title, achievements, or opinions above the Word and will of God. Until you become flexible, teachable, and lowly in heart, like a child, you are standing in opposition to the very way of the kingdom.

Never forget: God honors the lowly, not the lofty. Humility is the key to greatness before God.

Read: Proverbs 22:4 “Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to give myself to the call to live in and with humility

DO WHAT THE WORD SAYS!

James 1:22-24
“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was”

Being a Christian is not an event or a one-time experience. It is a relationship we have with God that we continue to build upon throughout our lives here on earth. We build on this relationship, or we continue with this union with the Lord, by obedience to His word.

Our walk with God must be characterized by “doing what the word says.” Nothing short of this will bring the best to us in life. Our opening text admonishes that we must be doers of the word and not hearers only.

You see, God’s word reveals the mind of God on how we ought to live our lives. From how to live with Him the Lord, how to relate with spiritual things, how to deal with people, to how to go about our own personal life, God’s word provides clear guidance. These we ought to obey or practice.

Come to the place where God’s word is your greatest priority. Nonetheless, don’t make it only a mental activity or something you just know; rather, live by it, obey it, and practice it.

You see, our journey with the Lord, when it comes to obeying Him—especially in this age—has been greatly challenged by human philosophies, people’s personal interests, and traditions that are at variance with God’s word. Colossians 2:8 says, “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.”

Remember to do what the word says; it is for your benefit. Doing what the word says has an eternal reward and will also make you stand the test of time. It is wisdom to do what the word says even if you don’t feel like it or think you know better (which can’t be the case anyway).

Whether it is about ministry, career, money, marriage and intimacy issues, love, forgiveness, humility, faithfulness, etc., do what the word says—not what your carnal desires want or what human tradition has bestowed on people.

Read: Matthew 7:24-25 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for the humility of heart to do what Your word says. Amen.

GOD’S WAY.

Psalm 18:30
“As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried and true; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.”

God operates in absolute perfection. He never errs, and all His ways are just and right. His word is dependable and without fault.

This verse reminds us that God’s word has been tested and proven over time. It stands firm and reliable in every situation, for every generation. You can count on God’s word to shift any unfavorable circumstance in your life.

Whatever area you find yourself in, be it marriage, career, education, or business—the word of God is a firm foundation you can build upon. It also serves as your protection against every attack of the enemy. As Proverbs 18:10 declares: “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”

God’s promises are guaranteed. In Isaiah 55:11, He declares that His word will not return to Him empty. It will fulfill its purpose and accomplish what He intends. As you choose to put your trust in Him, He becomes your shield and place of refuge. He will bring to completion every detail that concerns your life.

Read: Psalm 18:30 “As for God, His way is perfect; the Lord’s word is flawless; He shields all who take refuge in Him.”
Lord, I pray that You lead me daily in Your perfect way.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to always hold on to your word in every situation.

AFFLICTION ARE TEMPORARY.

2 Corinthians 4:17
“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”

Scripture also reminds us, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous…” (Psalm 34:19).

Affliction is part of life, especially for those who follow Christ. There will be seasons when you face trials that seem confusing, painful, and hard to navigate. But God assures us that these afflictions are temporary.

Every trial has an expiration date. No matter how overwhelming or painful it feels, it won’t last forever. Even if the hardship came as a result of disobedience or sin, God’s grace is still available. Acknowledge your error, repent, and rise again in His strength.

Psalm 107:17, 19 declares: “Some became fools through their rebellious ways and suffered affliction because of their iniquities. Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress.”

Do not let affliction defeat you. 2 Corinthians 4:8–9 says: “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”

Don’t allow trials or troubles to steal your joy or shake your trust in God. There is always hope beyond the hardship. God is with you, and He will see you through.

Keep going, your breakthrough is ahead!
