THINK BEFORE YOU ACT

Proverbs 14:12
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.”

Life is not about doing whatever comes to mind. Every action has consequences, and that is why you must carefully weigh the steps you take. What may look good on the surface can turn out destructive in reality. The safest way to guard your life is to measure every decision against the Word of God.

As a believer, you must know that God is not only concerned with what you achieve but with how you achieve it. His desire is that you consistently choose what is right in His sight. Scripture says in Deuteronomy 6:18: “And you shall do what is right and good in the sight of the Lord, that it may be well with you.”

This means you cannot afford to act impulsively. Learn to pause, reflect, and check your choices against God’s standards. Those who rush into action without thought are like people walking blindly into a pit. Something may “look right” to you, but if it does not align with God’s Word, it will only end in pain and regret.

Proverbs 16:25 repeats this warning: “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” This is not a verse to take lightly, it is God’s caution against careless living. So take time to think. Consider your steps. When you do this, you not only save yourself from needless trouble but also position yourself to walk in God’s perfect will.

Read: Proverbs 4:26 “Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways.”

Prayer: Lord, grant me grace and wisdom to think carefully before I act. Help me to choose what is right and pleasing in Your sight at all times. Amen.

WEIGH YOUR WORDS WHEN YOU SPEAK

Proverbs 5:2“That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.”

Words are never cheap. Speaking requires thought, discipline, and grace. Once you choose to open your mouth, you carry the responsibility of selecting words that convey truth with clarity and honor. Scripture admonishes us to be examples in speech (1 Timothy 4:12); therefore, dishonorable or disrespectful talk has no place in the life of a believer.

You see, choosing your words wisely also means choosing the right manner of delivery. Your tone, facial expression, posture, and pace can either lift your message or ruin it. Wisdom also teaches you when to speak and when to stay silent, because timing is as important as content. Proverbs 15:23 says, “A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, and a word spoken in due season, how good it is!”

Your speech can let your light shine or put it out. Many people have missed opportunities because they failed to speak well. Beyond the spiritual weight of words, your manner of speaking can either promote you or set you back in social and professional settings.

Always be thoughtful about how you speak to people. Choose your words with care and deliver them with courtesy. Remember, before people truly know your heart, they meet your words. Do not allow anger, immaturity, or emotion to push you into careless speech.

Just as people plan before investing and examine before selecting, learn to think and ponder before you speak. Don’t talk for the sake of talking. Reason first, then speak few, fitting, and gracious words.

Read: Matthew 12:37 “For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.”

Prayer: Lord, grant me grace and wisdom to master my speech. Help me to speak with discretion, honor, and grace at all times. Amen.

FIRST LOVE, FIRST WORKS.

Revelation 2:4-5
“Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.”

Walking with the Lord is a walk of love, and this love is proven through the works we do in His name and for His Church. Our love for God is the foundation of everything we do for Him. When that love weakens, the quality of our service also weakens.

To love the Lord means putting His desires above your own. What God values becomes what you pursue. You make time to align your life with His plans and purposes. This includes living to please Him, proclaiming the gospel, giving to support His work, and making yourself available for whatever promotes His Kingdom.

This passage reveals important truths. Your love shapes your works. And your love can grow cold if you do not guard it. As believers, we must keep our love for the Lord alive and burning bright.

God does not simply take whatever we offer as though He desperately needs it. He examines the heart behind every action. He knows when your focus has shifted from His interests to your own.

Stay committed to your first love and first works as you journey with Him. When you grow passive toward the things of God, it is always a sign that your love has declined.

Do not allow your love to fade. Losing your love for the Lord can cost you your place of impact before Him and in life.

Read: Matthew 24:12-13 “Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.”

Prayer: Lord, I ask for grace to keep my first love and first works alive.

GOD’S GRACE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH FOR YOU.

2 Corinthians 9:8
“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.”

God never leaves any of His children stranded, frustrated, or without help. You are never alone when facing the challenges of this world. Jesus Himself said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” That is the essence of grace. It is God running with you in your race.

When the Apostle Paul faced intense trials, he prayed earnestly for God’s intervention. But the Lord’s answer was profound: “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9) Paul responded with joy, choosing to glory even in his weaknesses so that Christ’s power might rest upon him.

This grace is not reserved for apostles or special people in the Kingdom. It is available to all believers today, right now, for every situation. God is still able to make all grace abound toward you so that you will have “all sufficiency in all things.”

Never measure your destiny by the storms you see around you. The same grace that lifted Paul and transformed him into an instrument of greatness is available for you. As Paul testified: “By the grace of God I am what I am… yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.”

Grace is what turns nobodies into somebodies. Beyond salvation, grace empowers you to prosper, succeed, and live beautifully. As Scripture declares: “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.” (2 Corinthians 8:9)

This grace does more than rescue you from the grave. It shapes your life for glory. Your role is simply to acknowledge and embrace it. Grace is God’s safe pathway to your divine destination.

Read: Ephesians 4:7 “But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.”

Prayer: Lord, I thank You for the grace made available for me to shine in life. Amen.

OPEN CONFESSION.

Matthew 10:32
“Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.”

The Christian life is not meant to be hidden or silent. Rather, your life must be a testimony for the world to see. Your faith should speak loudly through both your words and your actions. There is no such thing as secret Christianity.

Jesus emphasized this truth when He said: “You are the light of [Christ to] the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognize and honor and] glorify your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14–16)

When Christ dwells in your heart by faith, you are called to reflect Him outwardly. Your life should openly proclaim His goodness, love, and glory, so that when people look at you, they see Christ at work. Jesus Himself was the exact image of God on earth (Hebrews 1:3), and we are called to follow His example.

This open confession is not limited to words. You see, although you must speak about your faith, it is also important to let your daily conduct echo what you believe. What flows out of your life reveals what is rooted in your heart. If Christ truly lives in you, let it show in your works, your choices, and your relationships.

Know that you were not called to be indecisive about “taking a stand for the Lord in the world”. Thus, let every part of your life be a clear and bold declaration of your faith in Christ.

Read: 1 Timothy 6:12 “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”

Prayer: Lord, grant me boldness and grace to openly live and declare my faith wherever I go. Amen.

HONOUR GOD’S SERVANT.

Matthew 13:57
“And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, ‘A prophet is not without honour except in his own town and in his own home.’”

Being called into ministry is a divine assignment, not a human invention. Whether apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, or teacher, the honour that accompanies such a calling comes from God Himself. In our opening text, Jesus affirmed this truth: “A prophet is not without honour.”

This means you must not relate to a man of God based on public opinion, familiarity, or personal bias. Instead, you must respond according to God’s Word, acknowledging, respecting, and honouring those He has called.

The phrase “without honour” literally means to be unrecognized, undervalued, or treated as without dignity. As a believer, you must never adopt this attitude. The Bible makes it clear that honour for God’s servants comes from the One who called them (Hebrews 5:4).

Recognize men of God as custodians of Christ’s mysteries and vessels carrying divine assignments. This principle of “honour” is more crucial when you are close to a man of God or you are under their leadership because familiarity can easily set in to breed disregard. Thus, wether you have known a man of God for years or just recently, never despise or dishonour him. He may be God’s chosen agent for your blessing or deliverance.

When God delivered Israel from Egypt, He used a prophet. And on their journey to the Promised Land, He appointed another (Deuteronomy 18:17–18). Knowing a man of God is not enough; you must honour, receive, and recognize him as God’s servant to fully partake in his calling and ministry.

Read: Matthew 10:41 “Whoever receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man will receive a righteous man’s reward.”

Prayer: Lord, grant me the grace and wisdom to honour every servant You have called, and to receive them as Your messengers.

THE POWER OF PRAYER AND FASTING.

Ezra 8:23,31 KJV
“So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us. [31] Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way.”

Prayer and fasting is an indispensable spiritual discipline for every believer. It is a vital aspect of our walk with God. Beyond building spiritual sensitivity and receptiveness to the Lord, it positions us to exercise our faith and experience divine interventions.

Many have failed to make meaningful progress in fasting because they treat this sacred practice casually. Fasting is not merely abstaining from food for a period of time. It must be accompanied by fervent prayer, meditation on God’s Word, worship, and moments of quietness before the Lord.

Moreover, for fasting to yield true results, it must flow from a sincere heart. One cannot expect God’s favor while living in wickedness toward others (Isaiah 58).

In our opening text, Ezra recounts how fasting and prayer secured God’s protection for him and the Israelites as they journeyed from Babylon to Jerusalem. After seeking the Lord, His mighty hand rested on them, delivering them from every danger along the way.

With God, nothing is impossible. When you align your heart in faith and obedience through prayer and fasting, you will see His glory manifest in your life.

Read: Joel 2:12 AMP “Even now,” says the LORD, “Turn and come to Me with all your heart [in genuine repentance], with fasting and weeping and mourning [until every barrier is removed and the broken fellowship is restored].”

Prayer: Lord, as I seek You in fasting and prayer, let Your mighty hand rest upon me

AUTHORITY OVER DEMONIC POWERS.

Colossians 2:10
“And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.”

Life is not limited to what we see physically; there is a spiritual realm that influences the natural. Within this realm are angels, sent by God to minister to believers, and there are also demons whose singular mission is to oppose God’s will in our lives.

Demons are not imaginary. They are real spiritual beings, wicked, destructive, and relentless. They seek to express themselves through human vessels, using people as tools to corrupt, defile, and lead others astray. Just as human beings have varying abilities and expertise, demons also vary in their operations and assignments.

Their ultimate goal is to drag people to hell, all while afflicting and troubling humanity on earth. They accomplish this by possessing unbelievers, oppressing believers, and influencing thoughts and actions daily in an attempt to pull people away from God’s will.

Yet, despite their activity, you as a believer have been given divine authority over them. You have the power to cast them out, to break every demonic influence over your life, and to forbid their operations in your home and environment (Matthew 10:8).

Do not live in ignorance, demons are real, and they work tirelessly to destroy lives. Rise up boldly, exercise your God-given authority, and never allow these forces to reduce you to nothing.

Read: Mark 16:17 “These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages.”

Prayer: Lord, thank You that in You I have authority over every demon and every assault of the enemy. Amen.

PRAYER MUST BE YOUR LIFESTYLE.

Luke 18:1
“And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint”

Prayer is the lifeline of every child of God. It is how we fellowship with the Father, receive strength for life, and engage in spiritual warfare. But for prayer to produce lasting results, it must be consistent. As Romans 12:12 admonishes, “Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer.”

Prayer is not a weekly event or something reserved only for church services. It is not a tool to be pulled out only in emergencies. Prayer must be your first response, not your final option. Build a lifestyle where prayer flows naturally, in every circumstance.

Look at Jesus, our perfect example. “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed” (Mark 1:35). If He, the Son of God, prioritized consistent prayer, how much more should we?

This is not about spending long hours in formal sessions every single time. It’s about cultivating an attitude of unbroken fellowship with God, short prayers, whispered thanks, earnest petitions, and deliberate time set apart for communion. Let prayer anchor your day and guide your decisions.

Many believers struggle because they treat prayer as a last resort instead of a daily habit. But to succeed in every endeavor, prayer must be part of your everyday rhythm, morning, noon, and night, until it becomes part of you.

Read: 1 Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray without ceasing.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to be consistent in my prayer life. Amen

WISDOM FROM ABOVE.

James 3:17
“But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.”

Wisdom is vital for the success of every believer. Scripture calls it “the principal thing.” Proverbs 4:7 says, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” But as Christians, it is not just any kind of wisdom we must live by; it must be the wisdom that comes from above.

True wisdom influences your choices, your timing, and even your motives. It enables you to do the right thing at the right time and for the right reason. Many define wisdom simply as the right application of knowledge, but the Bible shows us that wisdom is far deeper.

Our opening scripture highlights the qualities of godly wisdom: purity, peace loving, thoughtfulness, submission, mercy, good fruit, impartiality, and sincerity. Your decisions and actions should consistently reflect these virtues. When they do, you are living by the wisdom of God.

Wisdom is never abstract. It produces visible works. You cannot claim to have wisdom and remain idle. While wisdom certainly involves knowledge, it is only proven when you act on the truth you know and produce results that glorify God.

In your family, your church, your workplace, and your community, pursue actions that build people up, strengthen systems, promote peace, and encourage stability. Godly wisdom always edifies, while ungodly wisdom leads to confusion, strife, and disarray.

Let your life be a clear expression of wisdom from above.

Read: Mark 6:2 “And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?”

Prayer: Lord, give me grace to walk daily in the wisdom from above and let my life show it in all I do.
