BURN WITH PASSION FOR THE LORD.

Psalm 69:9
“For zeal for your house consumes me, and the insults of those who insult you fall on me.”

One thing that must define your life as a believer in these last days is zeal for the Lord. Not just any zeal, but a burning passion for God and the things of His Kingdom. This was the very force that drove Jesus on earth. He carried such an overwhelming burden for the Father’s will that neither death nor reproach from His critics could stop Him.

Zeal is not a casual interest, it is great energy and enthusiasm in pursuing a cause. To be zealous is to be passionate, fervent, committed, dedicated, and wholehearted. These should be the very words people use to describe your walk with God. Anything less shows you are lacking true zeal.

If you are genuinely zealous for the Lord, you cannot hide it. It burns like fire inside you. It compels you to attend spiritual meetings without being pushed. It drives you to take up God’s work wholeheartedly, without needing human persuasion. Your zeal for God must be visible in your personal worship, your obedience, your service, and even your giving to the Lord.

When you are consumed with zeal, you will not tolerate what dishonors God. You will not stand by while things go wrong in His house. Instead, you will rise to defend His honor and to do His work with excellence.

Look into your own heart today. What truly consumes you? Is it zeal for God or zeal for something else? There is no neutral ground here. You are either burning for God or you are not. But if you find that your zeal is weak or missing, there is still hope. Pray earnestly that the zeal of the Lord will consume you. Take deliberate steps as the Spirit leads. Walk with people who are passionate for God so their fire can stir yours. This is how you enter the zeal lane for God.

Read: Galatians 4:18 “But it is good to be zealous in a good thing always, and not only when I am present with you.”

Prayer: Lord, set my heart on fire for You, and let my life burn with unshakable zeal for Your Kingdom.

FIGHT

2 Corinthians 10:4
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.”

Long before we were born and even before we came to know Christ, war has been part of human existence. It is a war between good and evil, righteousness and sin, God and the devil. In this battle there is no middle ground. You are either on God’s side or the devil’s.

Apostle Paul urged Timothy: “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses” (1 Timothy 6:12).

As Christians, we must understand that this fight is unavoidable. You cannot sit on the fence and do nothing or you risk being overrun by the enemy. But this is no ordinary fight. It is not fought with physical weapons. It is a spiritual battle.

Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 10:3–5: “For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

This fight is not against people or anything physical. We are up against demonic strongholds, deceptive arguments, and forces determined to corrupt human minds and turn hearts away from God. These powers want to see you fall, fail, and amount to nothing.

But here is the good news. You are not defenseless. As a child of God, you possess weapons infinitely more powerful than anything the enemy can use. Chief among them is the Word of God, living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). By declaring, believing, and applying God’s Word, you can pull down strongholds in your life, your ministry, your marriage, your finances, your family, and even your nation.

Now is the time to take hold of God’s Word and use it with unwavering faith to confront and overcome every power of darkness.

Prayer: 1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to always engage Your Word and stand firm in faith in this fight. Amen.

WISDOM—THE PATHWAY TO VICTORY IN LIFE’S BATTLES.

Proverbs 24:6
“For by wise counsel you will wage your war, and in the multitude of counselors there is safety.”

Life is full of battles, and the Christian journey is no exception. Even though God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing, there is an adversary, satan and his agents who are determined to stop you from enjoying them. That’s why you must engage in the good fight of faith to lay hold of what God has given you.

Ignoring this reality is dangerous; it hands the enemy a clear advantage. Scripture exhorts us in 1 Timothy 6:12: “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”

One vital truth is this: battles are not won by sheer strength but by wisdom and strategy. Without guidance, you become easy prey for the enemy. Proverbs 24:5-6 reminds us, “A wise man is strong, and a man of knowledge increases power; for by wise guidance you can wage your war, and in an abundance of counselors there is victory and safety.”

God Himself is your ultimate counselor. Psalm 18:34 declares, “He teaches my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by my arms.” He instructs us through His Spirit, His Word, and the counsel of godly leaders. As you stay in fellowship with the Holy Spirit, meditate on the Scriptures, and follow divine direction through your pastor, you are fully equipped to triumph over every challenge.

Read: Proverbs 20:18 “Every purpose is established by counsel; and with good advice make war.”

Prayer: Lord, grant me the humility to receive Your wisdom and the discipline to apply it. By Your counsel, I walk in victory over every battle of life.

GUARD WHAT YOU HEAR; WORDS CARRY POWER.

Mark 4:24
“And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.”

What you give your ear to has the power to shape you for good or for evil. Words are never empty—they impart something into your spirit. Faith grows by hearing the Word of God, and in the same way, unbelief and fear grow by hearing the words of men and the whispers of the enemy.

If you constantly receive the Word of God, it will strengthen your faith, give you courage, and fill your heart with peace. But if you entertain ungodly opinions, careless talk, or voices of fear, they will weaken your spirit and sow seeds of doubt.

Be deliberate about what you let in. Do not give room to idle chatter or words that tear you down. Whether it comes through music, media, or conversation, weigh it by wisdom before you listen. The words you hear will either build you up or break you down.

Choose to give your ear only to what uplifts and imparts grace, and you will enjoy an unending flow of strength and favor in your life.

Read: Ephesians 4:29 “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.”

Prayer: Lord, help me guard against words that will destroy my faith.

DO NOT WORRY ABOUT YOUR LIFE.

Matthew 6:34
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

The world has set certain standards for what it calls joy and happiness. These include having food, clothes, shelter, a job, marriage, and other possessions. Because of this, when any of these are missing, people easily fall into worry, doubt, or feelings of worthlessness.

But Jesus, teaching us to rise above such thinking, said in Matthew 6:25: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?”

You see, nothing is supposed to get you worried in life. To be worried means to be in a state of mental distress or agitation resulting from concern, usually for something impending or anticipated.

You must know that worry is not from God. If not, He would not ask you not to engage in it. It is a device of the enemy, programmed to make you fearful, sorrowful, and anxious in life. Anytime you engage in worrying, you are allowing the devil to rob you of your joy in Christ.

Worrying is also a spirit. Excessive worrying leads to heaviness of heart. See Isaiah 61:3: “To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness…”

You must get rid of all heaviness from your heart in order to flow freely to wherever God wants you to be. When you are heavy in heart, you cannot think right to make right decisions in life. This will get you stuck in one place for a long time.

You must not take worrying lightly at all. Fight it out just as you would fight against any sin. Deal with it as you would with adultery or lasciviousness.

Always remember that God wants you free from worrying.

Read: Philippians 4:6: “Do not worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”

Prayer: In the name of Jesus, I am free from the influence and anything that causes people to live a “worried life.” Amen.

LEARN TO GIVE VALUABLE THINGS TO GOD.

2 Samuel 24:24
“But the king replied to Araunah, ‘No, I insist on paying you for it. I will not sacrifice to the LORD my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.’ So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen and paid fifty shekels of silver for them.”

One of the ways you show honour to a person is by the quality of what you are willing and ready to give to them. The value you place on someone or something influences the value of what you give.

As a Christian, you must know that God is worthy of your most important things. What you give to the Lord and to the work of His kingdom reveals the value you place on Him. This is a truth many avoid. Some people think God and the church ask too much from them. Others have what I call the “God does not deserve the best” mentality. They can give valuable things to others and spend quality time elsewhere, but struggle to give the same to God.

For example, two young believers preparing for marriage can spend hours enjoying each other’s company, but will complain about a few hours in God’s house, forgetting that it is God who gave them that time. Mercy!

Some spend freely on themselves, through fashion, gadgets, and personal luxuries, yet will not give meaningfully to the offering or sow into God’s work. But the Bible says: “Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase” (Proverbs 3:9).

You must learn to give your best to God, your best time, your best resources, your best energy. Do not give God one hour when you can give three. Do not give in small measures when you can give generously.

No matter what you think, God always deserves the best, whether it is your time, money, life, or any resource you have.

Read: Malachi 1:8–9 — “When you offer blind animals for sacrifice, is that not wrong? When you sacrifice lame or diseased animals, is that not wrong? Try offering them to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you?” says the Lord Almighty. “Now plead with God to be gracious to us. With such offerings from your hands, will he accept you?” — says the Lord Almighty.

Prayer: Lord, give me wisdom and willingness to always honour You with my best.

STAY ALERT, THE LORD IS NEAR.

1 Thessalonians 5:6
“Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.”

To watch is to stay spiritually awake, attentive to God’s voice, cautious of distractions, and alert to the signs of the times. Soberness speaks of clear thinking, self-control, and a steady heart rooted in God’s word.

The verses before our key text give the reason for this posture. 1 Thessalonians 5:1–2 says: “But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.”

The world today bears clear marks of prophecy fulfilled. We are engulfed in moral decay, increasing lawlessness, wars, natural disasters, and a turning away from truth. All these confirm that Christ’s return is near. What remains is the unknown moment when the trumpet will sound.

Mark gives a strong warning in Mark 13:33–36: “Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.”

Therefore, stay spiritually sensitive. Guard your faith. Live daily in readiness, making choices that align with God’s will. Let every action reflect your hope in Christ’s appearing.

Read: Matthew 24:42 “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.”

Prayer: Lord, keep me watchful, faithful, and ready for Your return

LIVE ABOVE THE WORLD’S SYSTEM.

John 17:15–16
“My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.”

The Christian is in the world but not of the world. To be of the world means that the world is your source and reason for living. But that is not so with the believer.

Every believer is God’s offspring John 1:12–13 says: “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

The world is never the source of the Christian. Its systems and ways are contrary to God’s word because the ruler of this world is the devil. Jesus called him the prince of this world. John 14:30 says: “I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me.”

Like Jesus, never allow the world to have a hold on you. Stand out in your values and principles. In John 15:18–19 Jesus said: “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.”

Do not conform to the standards of this sin-ruled and devil-controlled world. Live and function by God’s word. Stay in the world of the word of God.

Read: Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Prayer: Father, keep me from the world’s grip and help me live by your word. Amen.

BE A SERVANT OF VALUE.

1 Samuel 9:5-8
“And when they came to the land of Zuph, Saul said to the servant who was with him, ‘Come, let us return, lest my father stop worrying about the donkeys and start worrying about us.’ But the servant replied, ‘There is in this city a man of God who is highly respected, and everything he says comes to pass. Let us go there; perhaps he will show us the way to go.’ Then Saul said to his servant, ‘But if we go, what shall we give the man? Our bread is gone from our sacks, and we have no gift to bring the man of God. What do we have?’ The servant answered again, ‘I have a quarter of a shekel of silver; I will give this to the man of God to tell us our way.’”

Our opening scripture highlights some notable qualities of true servants. Although in many societies servants are looked down upon, this mindset is not biblical.

As Christians, we are servants of Christ. Ephesians 6:6 says, “Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.” Therefore, it is wrong to despise the role of a servant.

Being a servant is a calling. Every servant has a specific assignment or mission to accomplish. This means servants are purpose-driven and focused on their tasks.

In 1 Samuel 9:5-8, Saul’s servant played a key role in the success of his master. He connected him to the man of God and even offered his own money to make the meeting possible. The servant was well-informed about the prophet, showing he had knowledge of spiritual matters. He was also prepared, carrying money on their journey, and stepped in to assist when needed.

Servants, by their calling, must be resourceful. If you are serving, build capacity so you can be useful. Don’t just occupy space—bring something of value. As people often say, “Bring something to the table.” This is what makes you truly valuable.

Wherever you are serving today, whether in your church, family, community, or country, strive to be a valuable servant. Contribute your part to achieving meaningful results.

Read: 1 Peter 4:10 “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace” (ESV)

Prayer: Lord, I ask for grace to be a valuable servant in Jesus’ name. Amen.

TRANSFORMED THINKING.

Romans 12:2
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

A renewed mind is essential for a transformed life. Even after salvation, while your spirit becomes new, your mind remains unchanged. This means without intentional effort to renew your thoughts, the new life in Christ may remain dormant.

Salvation is a spiritual rebirth, but your mind must be reformed to reflect that change. If not, old thinking will continue to dominate, and the beauty of your new identity will be limited in expression.

To renew your mind means to change the way you think, to shift your perspective from worldly standards to God’s word. This transformation is not automatic. It requires effort, discipline, and a deep hunger for the truth.

The Apostle Paul said in Philippians 2:5, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.” The aim is to think like Christ, live like Christ, and respond like Christ.

This transformation happens through the consistent meditation on Scripture. The more you feed your mind with God’s word, the more aligned it becomes with your born-again spirit. Then, and only then, can you fully express the life of God in your thoughts, words, and actions.

Let God’s word reshape your values, your choices, and your priorities. The renewed mind sees through the eyes of faith and understands spiritual realities.

Practice feeding daily on the word. Think God’s thoughts. Choose God’s ways. Let your mind reflect the nature of Christ.

Read: Ephesians 4:23-24 “Let the Spirit change your way of thinking and make you into a new person. You were created to be like God, and so you must please him and be truly holy.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for the grace for a transformed mind and life. Amen
