A HEART THAT CARES LIKE JESUS.

Matthew 25:35–36
“For I was hungry and you gave me food… I was a stranger and you took me in, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.”

To follow Jesus is to carry His heart, a heart that sees, feels, and responds to the needs of others. Jesus cared deeply for the hungry, the lonely, the sick, and the forgotten. He did not ignore people. He moved toward people with a compassionate heart. As His disciples, we are called to do the same.

You see, caring for people begins with awareness. You must intentionally consider and remember those who are struggling, the ones life has sidelined, the ones often overlooked. As a Christian you must not only be concerned about your welfare. Other people’s welfare must matter to you. You cannot walk in the footsteps of Christ and remain indifferent to the burdens of others.

Never make life only about yourself. The Christian life is a shared one, rooted in love, service, and empathy. Learn to pause and notice people around you. Let your presence bring comfort. Let your resources bring help. Let your love bring hope.

God calls us to carry a heart that mirrors His, one that is moved by compassion and ready to act. “But thanks be to God, who put into the heart of Titus the same earnest care I have for you” (2 Corinthians 8:16). Know that God has placed sincere concern in your heart and expects you to respond as such.

To care is to reflect God’s nature. It is not weakness. It is power wrapped in mercy. As you care for people, don’t let unfortunate happenings make you become indifferent, Do your God-giving assignment and live the rest to the Lord.

Read: 1 Corinthians 12:25 “That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.”

Prayer: Lord, give me a heart like Yours, one that sees, feels, and responds in love to those in need

SET THE STANDARD FOR OTHER BELIEVERS.

1 Timothy 4:12
“Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.”

As a believer, your life is meant to set a clear and visible standard for others to follow. You are not just called to believe in Christ, you are called to reflect Him.

To be an example means living in a way that others can look at and be inspired to live for God. It means being intentional about your speech, your conduct, and the values you uphold.

God expects your life to be a message. A message that points people to righteousness, faith, and purity. Whether you are young or old in the faith, your life must sharpen and build others.

Your words should encourage, your actions should glorify God, your love should be genuine, your faith should be unshakable, and your purity should be unquestionable. These are the marks of a believer who is truly living as an example.

Never take lightly the influence your life can have. Others are watching, learning, and growing through what you say and do. Choose to be the reason someone else decides to walk more closely with God.

Read: Proverbs 27:17 “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”

Prayer: Father, help me to live a life that inspires others to know you and walk in your ways.

WALK IN HUMILITY.

Proverbs 29:23
“A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit”

Pride is a silent destroyer. It creeps in and can reduce a person from greatness to nothing. It undermines your growth and success, no matter how far you’ve come.

To walk in pride is to hold an inflated view of yourself, to see yourself as better, more deserving, or more important than others.

You see, people often fall into pride because of their achievements, their wealth, their connections, or even their gifts. But viewing yourself above others because of what you have is a trap.

God’s will is not for you to be puffed up, but to remain humble no matter your level in life. Know that, walking in humility attracts God’s presence and blessings. Pride, on the other hand, positions you against God himself. Proverbs 6:16–17 says “These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: a proud look, a lying tongue…”
Thus, it is clear that pride is offensive to God. James 4:6 also says, “But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.”

If you desire God’s grace, honour, and favour, walk in humility. Let go of pride and choose the lowly path that leads to lasting greatness.

Read: Proverbs 29:23 “A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.”

Prayer: Lord, teach me to walk in humility and clothe me with your grace every day.

DELIGHT IN SERVING GOD.

“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance, for ye serve the Lord Christ” (Colossians 3:23,24)

Serving God is always a privilege and a blessing. One truth that should stay rooted in your heart is that God never forgets. He is a faithful rewarder of those who serve him sincerely. As a Christian, you must be willing to advance the course of the Lord in all your endeavours.

God sees and rewards whatever service we render in his name. Hebrews 6:10 reminds us: “For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do”.

Every effort you invest in serving God draws a blessing in return. One such promise is found in Psalm 37:25: “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread”.

When you serve God, he takes personal responsibility for your provision and protection.

Exodus 23:25 puts it this way: “And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee”. Serving God connects you to the realm of divine health.

This is why choosing to serve God is a wise and blessed decision. Surrender your life to him and be committed to his purpose.

Always find opportunities to serve the Lord. It can be in your family, church, community, etc., As a Christian use your abilities and knowledge for God’s glory. Don’t chase after wealth and personal gain, forgetting the joy and peace that come from serving God. Remember that Proverbs 10:22 says, “The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it”.

Read: John 12:26 “If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.”

Prayer: Lord, I choose to serve you with joy and devotion. Use my life for your glory. Amen

FULFILL YOUR OBLIGATIONS.

Romans 13:7
“Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.”

Every relationship you engage in places a certain divine obligation on you. God expects you to recognize and fulfill the responsibilities that come with the roles people play in your life. It is crucial to understand the nature of your relationships so you can offer the proper respect, reverence, and honour they deserve.

Our opening scripture clearly highlights some obligations we must discharge towards certain people. These are reverence or deep respect and honour. These are not optional gestures but spiritual dues. You are commanded to respect and honour specific individuals regardless of personal opinion or sentiment.

Romans 13: 1 shows us that leaders, those God has set in authority over you, must be respected and honoured. In your home, this applies to your parents. In the church, this applies to your pastors and spiritual leaders.

In fact, every structure of authority that governs your life demands this response from you. Honour and respect are debts you owe according to God’s word. Failing to pay this spiritual debt is disobedience.

Do not dishonour or disrespect those to whom God says honour is due. Fulfill your obligation. Pay what you owe.

Read: 1 Peter 2:17 “Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honour the emperor.”

Prayer: Lord, help me to honour and respect everyone You have placed over my life. Amen.

THE NAME OF JESUS.

Acts 3:16
“And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.”

The name of Jesus is a great weapon in the hands of the believer. It can be used for both constructive and destructive purpose. You can use the name to lay hold on God’s promises for your life and you can use the name to undo or rebuke any works of darkness organized against you.

Believers must know that the name of Jesus is more than a mere religious jargon. It is not also just a name like names people bear in life. It is a heavenly given name. It is a name that has defeated the enemy and is recognized in all the heavens. Philippians 2:9-10, says that “therefore God also has highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow…”

Anytime we mention the name of “Jesus” in faith, the power in the name stands for our cause. In Mark 16 the bible enumerates the things that can be accomplished through the name of Jesus. Mark 16:17-18 “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

These are awesome victories through the name. In the name, devils will be cast out, in the name there is security and protection, and in the name the sick can be healed.

You see, the power in the name gets things done for us. The sick gets healed, the lame walks, and the blind see.

Start declaring the name of Jesus in faith over all that concerns you and the power in the name will put things right.

Read: Acts 3:6-7 “Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength”

Prayer: Father, I pray that at the usage of the name JESUS, miracles, signs and wonders will take place. In Jesus name, Amen!

RAISE YOUR STANDARD IN GIVING.

Proverbs 11:24
“One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.”

Giving is not a minor aspect of the Christian life; it is a divine calling and an expression of your spiritual maturity. It is a ministry every believer must take seriously and rise to excel in. As Jesus said in Acts 20:35, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

The Apostle Paul, writing to the Corinthian church, did not just commend their spiritual strengths. He challenged them to match their excellence in faith, speech, knowledge, and love with excellence in giving. See 2 Corinthians 8:7 “But since you excel in everything, in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you, see that you also excel in this grace of giving”

Today, much of the Church is struggling financially because believers are not fully committed to the ministry of giving. In many congregations, giving is met with resistance. People must be pleaded with before they give anything. This should not be the case for those who truly understand the heart of God.

When you give, you are not just helping your local church. You are fueling the advancement of the gospel, rescuing souls from darkness, and laying up treasures in Heaven. Your tithes, your offerings, and your financial support are not religious routines. They are acts of love, faith, and kingdom partnership.

Do not wait to be pushed. Do not give sparingly or carelessly. Raise your standard in giving. Let it reflect your faith, your love, and your covenant with God.

Read: Luke 6:38 “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”

Prayer: Lord, help me rise above average in my giving.

CHOOSE WISDOM, NOT REGRET.

Proverbs 9:9
“Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.”

Life teaches us through two main routes: the wise way or the hard way

To learn the wise way means embracing proven wisdom, following sound instruction, and taking direction from those who have walked the road before you. It is the path of humility, guidance, and preserved dignity.

The hard way however is the path of resistance to instruction. It is marked by pain, regret, and unnecessary scars—outcomes that could have been avoided by simply listening to godly counsel. Sadly many insist on learning the hard way. They ignore sound advice only to end up bruised and broken by life’s consequences. This is not God’s will for you.

You see, no matter how gifted or experienced you are, ignoring instruction can trap you in cycles of avoidable hardship. Wisdom is not about age or status. It is about teachability.

Know that, it is far better to learn by revelation than by regret. You don’t need to fall into sin and its consequences before you understand holiness. You don’t need to crash before you learn how to drive wisely. Why lose your joy, peace, and even your future over what could have been avoided by simply heeding instruction?

If there is anything worth mastering in life, let it be the art of listening. Listening to God, to godly leaders, to the wisdom of Scripture. Don’t let pride or self-reliance rob you of a graceful journey.

Break free from the deception that you know it all. The Word of God says “Lean not on your own understanding.” Wisdom is calling. Answer early. Let it lead you into peace and preservation.

Read: Proverbs 22:3 “A sensible person sees danger and takes cover, but the inexperienced keep going and are punished”

Prayer: Lord give me a heart that listens and follows wisdom so I may walk in peace and avoid needless pain.

GOD EMPOWERS YOU TO LIVE FOR HIM.

Philippians 2:13 (NLT)
“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.”

Every believer has been divinely equipped to live a life that honors God. You are not powerless or unequipped. As a believer you’ve been given both the desire and the ability to do God’s will. The Amplified Bible puts it beautifully: “For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure.” (Philippians 2:13)

Know that “God is effectively at work in you.” That is the source of your victory. That’s the reason you can fulfill your calling and purpose. There is supernatural strength at work inside you. Contrary to what some say, the Christian life isn’t meant to be a heavy burden. It only feels that way when you try to live it by your own strength.

Don’t try to live the Christian life on your natural strength. Frustration sets in when we take the reins and attempt to live godly lives without relying on God’s power.

God will never ask you to do what He hasn’t already empowered you to accomplish. If He expects you to walk in His will, He has already placed within you the grace and strength to do it. That’s why the word says “God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.”

You see, everything you need to live a godly life has already been supplied. Don’t be swayed by opinions that make Christianity seem like an impossible task. Lift your eyes to Jesus. Lean on Him. You’ll discover the joy of walking in His will every day.

Read: 2 Peter 1:3 “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.”

Prayer: Lord, thank You for giving me the strength and desire to walk in Your will daily.

EXCELLENCE REWARDS.

1 Samuel 16:17-18
“Saul told his servants, Find me a man who plays well and bring him to me. One of the young men said, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite who plays skillfully, a valiant man, a man of war, prudent in speech and eloquent, an attractive person; and the Lord is with him.”

Doing things in life, is not the same as doing things well or with excellence. If you want to be relevant or significant in life, then you must distinguish yourself by doing things with excellence. This can be in every field of endeavour- whether ministry, family life, career, education, etc.

You see, it is not enough to know how to work at something. You must build the capacity to do things with excellence. This is what brought David the recognition in his days. He distinguished himself as a harp player, and with good communication skills.

When people work with excellence, their output is with great impact.

As you journey in life, pay the price to do things with excellence. Yes, it takes great wisdom and knowledge, constant practice, willingness to accept correction on how do things, diligence and discipline. Nonetheless, it rewards.

Never compromise excellence in whatever you do. It will bring you honour and recognition.

Read: Proverbs 22:29 “And as for those who are skilled in their work, they will be recognized and invited to serve kings rather than regular folk.”

Prayer: Lord, give me the grace to add excellence to my endeavors. Amen
