LIVE LIKE JESUS: BE A DOER AND TEACHER OF THE TRUTH

Acts 1:1 “The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach.”

Jesus’ life is our ultimate model. He did not merely teach principles, He embodied them. First, He lived the Word. Then He shared it with others. This dual pattern of practice and instruction is a blueprint for every believer.

To follow Him, we must first live out the Word without compromise. We must demonstrate our faith and obedience by doing what the word says. Once our walk aligns with God’s truth, we must move on to teach and guide others by sharing the wisdom and insights we have received.

Thus, being a Christian is more than a title; it is a life of authenticity and impact. Your influence is measured not only by what you say but by what you consistently do. That is to say that YOU MUST HAVE WORKS for what you say. In fact, WORKS THAT ALIGN with the truth you claim you know and share. Without this consistency, you may likely betray the faith you have.

Don’t be a Christian, who only have words, but no works to back it. That will more or less be like hypocrisy, immaturity or lack of depth in what you claim you know about the faith.

Read: James 1:22 “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

Prayer: Lord, help me to live Your Word faithfully and to teach others through my actions and example. Amen.

LIVING IN GOD’S ABUNDANT GRACE

John 1:16 “And of his fullness have all we received, and grace for grace.”

Grace is God’s unmerited favor, constantly available to meet your every need. It is His presence with you in trials, His strength in weakness, and His provision in insufficiency. Living by grace means understanding that God does not leave His children helpless; and that His help is always sufficient.

Paul experienced grace in his weakness and testified, “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). Grace does not only save; it empowers, it equips, restores, and strengthens you to walk victoriously in every area of life.

God’s grace also brings transformation. Through grace, you are enabled to live beyond failure, to grow in faith, and to fulfill your divine purpose. 2 Corinthians 9:8 assures us that God provides all we need to abound in good works.

Embrace God’s grace daily. Make it your lifestyle to always ask the Lord for grace in your prayers. Hebrews 4:16 says “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

Read: 2 Corinthians 8:9 “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.”

Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your abundant grace. Teach me to walk fully in it, relying on Your strength and favor every day. Amen.

NO TURNING BACK

Luke 9:62 “And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”

Following Christ is not a casual choice. It is a life-altering commitment that requires undivided attention and unwavering loyalty. Jesus teaches that anyone who takes up the call to serve Him must move forward with full determination, leaving behind the distractions, regrets, and attachments of the past.

Looking back on your journey with the Lord reveals a divided heart. It shows hesitation and fear, longing for familiar comforts over the promises of God. This was evident in Israel’s wilderness journey. Despite witnessing God’s mighty deliverance from Egypt, many yearned for the fleeting pleasures of their former life. Numbers 11:5-6 record their complaints, longing for what they had left behind. Their hearts clung to the past, and Numbers 14:4 reveals their desire to turn back.

Believers today face similar temptations. Challenges, delays, or discomfort may tempt you to retreat to past habits or worldly engagements, but God calls you to press forward. Turning back is a trap that leads to spiritual loss, missed opportunities, and unfulfilled destiny.

Take courage and remain steadfast. Trust that the work God has begun in you will not be undone. Move forward with faith, embracing the path He has prepared.

Read: Hebrews 10:39 “But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.”

Prayer: Lord, grant me the grace to remain faithful and unwavering. Help me to fix my eyes on You and to continue in my calling without hesitation. Amen.

SERVE WITH LOVE

Galatians 5:13 “For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.”

Christian freedom is a gift from God, but it carries a responsibility: to serve others with love. True service is never self-serving. It is a deliberate choice to place the needs of others above personal comfort, pride, or convenience. The call to serve extends to every sphere of life—our families, churches, workplaces, and communities. Wherever God has placed you, there is an opportunity to manifest His love through humble action.

Serving others requires a heart shaped by humility and a spirit guided by love. Without these, even the most well-intended acts of service can become mechanical, perfunctory, or even harmful. Service without love is empty. The Bible warns in 1 Corinthians 13:3 that giving generously or enduring hardship without love has no eternal reward.

Love transforms service from mere acts of obligation. It equips you to act with empathy, patience, and grace. Serving with love means speaking gently, listening attentively, and meeting the needs of others without resentment or any sense of entitlement.

When you serve with love, you are guided by the desire to honor God through your actions with no intention to gain recognition or approval from men.

Know that every act of service is seen by God and carries eternal significance. Ephesians 6:7-8 reminds us to work with sincerity, “as to the Lord and not to men,” knowing that God rewards every good deed, regardless of the role or status of the one who performs it.

Let love govern your service. Let your actions be expressions of Christ’s heart. This is how the church, the family, and the world will experience God’s kingdom.

Read: Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray to do everything in love and with the attitude of humility.

WHEN THE CHURCH PRAYS

Acts 12:5 “So Peter was kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church.”

The power of the local church is not in the grandeur display of its buildings, and structural features, but its total dependence on God and depth of spirituality of its people. One way that the church manifests its power and relevance in this life is through prayer.

When the church prays, it invites heaven’s intervention into earthly situations. That’s to say that, when believers pray earnestly, God moves decisively.

Our opening text tells how the Church responded to the imprisonment of Peter in the early days of the persecution of the believers. The Church had no social acceptance or any political power, but it never hesitated to do the needful, where its strength lies, which is prayer. Thus, with Peter being bound, guarded, and awaiting execution, the consistent prayer saved him and the church. When they prayed, Heaven responded. Chains fell. Doors opened and God’s purpose prevailed.

This happening in the bible reveals one principle; prayer reveals our dependence on God rather than confidence in human strength. As a believer, know that prayer is not a last resort but a primary weapon. When the church prays, God’s authority overrides human limitation.

Never underestimate what God can do through praying people. Prayer brings light into darkness and freedom into cptivity.

Read: James 5:16 “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous person avails much.”

Prayer: Lord, stir my heart to pray earnestly and faithfully, trusting Your power to intervene. Amen.

MEDITATE ON GOD’S WORD

Joshua 1:8 says “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success”.

Meditating on God’s word is crucial for your victory and success in this world. When you meditate on God’s word you are imparted with divine purposes and truth. Casual reading and hearing of God’s word cannot get the truth to settle in your heart. It takes meditation.

In meditation you focus on the word, you give your heart to what you are studying and you also mutter or speak undertone what you are studying.

Paul instructed Timothy on this wonderful practice and said, “MEDITATE UPON THESE THINGS (THE WORD): give thyself wholly to them: that thy profiting may appear to all” (1 Timothy 4:15).

You see, it is by meditating on the word that your eyes of understanding is opened. You will get to know your rights, privileges and responsibilities as a Christian.

Don’t be a busy for nothing. Give God’s word the first place. Think on it, speak it yourself and practice it.
Don’t let “worth less” things occupy your heart and mind. Make the word your meditation day and night, and you will experience Joy UNSPEAKABLE.

Read: Psalm 119:97 “O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.”

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to meditate on your word always.

DILIGENCE BRINGS RECOGNITION

Proverbs 22:29 “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”

Anyone who desires to rise to honorable positions in life and serve among great people must embrace diligence in every assignment they undertake.

Diligence makes a person committed, precise, and fully attentive to the task at hand, ensuring that work is carried out with accuracy and excellence. In this way, diligence naturally leads to productivity.

As a Christian, prayer alone is not sufficient when seeking success and favor before influential people. You must match your prayers with diligence. Give careful attention to your responsibilities and apply the level of care each task demands. This disciplined approach is what attracts favor.

As the opening scripture reveals, diligence in your pursuits is what unlocks doors of opportunity in life. Simply put, until you become diligent in what you do, you will not rise to the place of recognition.

You see, diligence does not only position you before great people, it also make you produce tangible results in your life.

Therefore, be diligent. Rise above mediocrity, disorder, and poor management. The truth remains: whether in ministry, business, marriage, or any other life endeavor, a lack of diligence will hinder progress. Commit to diligence in all your affairs, and the Lord will bring you before great people and grant you success.

Read: Romans 12:11 “Never lagging behind in diligence; aglow in the Spirit, enthusiastically serving the Lord.”

Prayer: Lord, I ask for grace and wisdom to walk in diligence in all my dealings.

GENEROSITY MATTERS

1 John 3:17 “But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart of compassion from him, how does the love of God dwell in him?”

Love is not a mere feeling, it is a practical, and active demonstrating of God’s goodness to mankind. True love expresses itself by meeting the needs of others. To love as God loves means to give, to care, and to act sacrificially on behalf of those in need.

1 Corinthians 13:5 reminds us that love does not seek its own. When God blesses you, His
favor carries a responsibility: to share, uplift, and bless others. Closing your heart to a brother or sister in need is evidence of a lack of God’s love within you or an act of wickedness.

Demonstrate the love of God in your heart by being generous in life. Give without expecting nothing in return, support without seeking to take advantage over anyone, and finally be hospitable to all.

Do not let past disappointments or fears limit your compassion. Be a conduit of God’s provision, a channel of His blessings, and a reflection of His heart to the world.

Read: John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Prayer: Lord, cultivate in me a heart of love and compassion. Let Your generosity flow through me to meet the needs of others. Amen.

FOLLOW WHAT IS GOOD

3 John 1:11 “Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but imitate what is good. The one who practices good is of God; the one who practices evil has not seen God.”

Life is shaped by what we choose to follow. Every person models their behavior after something or someone. You are either modelling your life after the truth and principles in God’s word, or copying someone who is living out the Christian virtues, or following the principles and concepts of the world, etc.

As a Christian, you can either follow a good example or a bad one. You need great discretion if you want to follow or copy anything or anyone. Thus, the safeguard is to use God’s word as the yardstick of what and who to copy if need be. Know that following the wrong influences can lead to ruin. God calls us to imitate what is godly, upright, and holy.

Carefully select the examples you follow or copy. Be assertive in the face of pressure to conform to worldly values like immorality, greed, pride, and dishonesty. Instead, seek and follow godly people, scripture-based guidance, and examples of moral courage and integrity.

Guard your heart against negative influences. Let God’s Word and the leading of the Holy Spirit be your standard for every decision. True fulfillment, stability, and eternal reward come from walking the narrow path of righteousness, not from imitating what is popular or expedient.

Read: 1 Corinthians 11:1 “Imitate me, just as I imitate Christ.”

Prayer: Lord, help me to follow only what is righteous and pleasing in Your sight. Let me imitate You in every part of my life. Amen.

GUARD YOUR TONGUE

1 Peter 3:10 “For, whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech.”

God’s Word warns us that life and blessing are intimately connected to how we speak. Our tongue is a double-edged sword. It can bless or curse, heal or wound, build or destroy. James 3:2 reminds us of the need to have control over our tongue.

As believers, we are called to speak no evil of anyone. Titus 3:2 commands, “Speak evil of no man, be no brawlers, but gentle, showing all meekness unto all men.” This is not optional; it is a call to live in a way that reflects God’s character.

The words we speak carry consequences. No word spoken is neutral. Slander, gossip, and backbiting can ruin relationships, careers, and reputations. Proverbs 16:28 says, “A perverse man sows strife, and a whisperer separates the best of friends.” The harm caused by careless or malicious words is often irreversible.

Know that destructive speech corrupts the heart. Negativity, resentment, and pride take root when we speak evil of others. In contrast, righteous speech brings peace, healing, and encouragement.

Be intentional. Speak life, encouragement, and truth. When nothing edifying comes to mind, remain silent. Let your words build, not break; let them reflect God’s heart and His love.

Read: Psalm 101:5 “Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, Him I will destroy.”

Prayer: Lord, grant me wisdom and discipline to guard my tongue. Let every word I speak reflect Your truth, love, and righteousness. Amen.
